    Balandra Beach
    Cindy R.

BEAUTIFUL Balandra Beach, Coromuel Beach, La Paz, and Todos Santos. PICTURES will say it all!! But if you want some specifics, here you go. Balandra Beach had crystal clear water. My husband and I climbed the hill to see the STUNNING view. Wear close-toed shoes. Visited Mushroom rock. The combination of powdery sand, crushed shells, rugged rock, a sand bar you can walk across, and ombre aqua water... it's like a mirage in the middle of the desert. At Coromuel Beach, the shade from tall palm trees over the sandy beach, and clear water, was gorgeous. Nearby restaurants. We visited a beautiful church, which was equally lovely inside. Ornate and simple at the same time with the stained-glass windows and religious statues, high ceilings, and a cool breeze throughout. We had lunch in La Paz. Fresh sea bass fried to a perfect crisp outside, and inside delicate flaked fish. Served with a salad and delicious hibiscus water. Refreshing. Walked along the malecon (boardwalk) in La Paz. Purchased a pearl ring (Sea of Cortez pearl). Nice statues along the boardwalk bordering the Sea of Cortez. Across the street are shops and restaurants. Todos Santos has the Hotel California. There are other restaurants, shops, and markets. We enjoyed a Cadillac Margarita. It is a long excursion, but SO WORTH IT! Van picked us up at 5:30am in Cabo at our hotel. Dropped us off at 7:30pm. Our driver, Antonio, made stops for us when we wanted snacks (like a carne asada burrito). Also, when passengers needed a bio-break (to use the rest rooms). HIGHLY RECOMMEND this excursion!!

Rock formation at far right end of Balandra Beach. Looks unstable to me so be careful.

We took the Luvis Tour to La Paz as we wanted to explore that area more and not have to drive ourselves. We had the Los Cabos Passport card so we got 2 for 1. We went to Balandra Beach and Playa El Corumel which we never heard of before, but were pleased. If you walk to the right along the beach around the rocks at Balandra, you can walk all the may to the mushroom shaped rock formation. We didn't walk all the way there, but suggest you rent a kayak if you wanted to see it up close. We also visited La Paz, had lunch there, visited a church and visited Todos Santos. We were surprised when we got on the full bus with 10 other people. We were the only English speaking tourists on the bus. In the past, it would have the opposite with all Americans and maybe a couple Mexicans. Luckily there was a young lady who translated for us as even the tour driver couldn't speak English well. So, beware of this issue. We are actually glad to see the locals are doing well economically to be able to take these tours. Our full day tour took 14 hours door to door so be aware of this also. So glad I wasn't driving! Overall we liked the tour.

As much as I wanted to give them 5 stars, I couldn't because there is room for improvements. We booked a last minute tour to Balandra, Coromulel, La Paz and Todos Santos. Our driver was a little late in picking us up from the hotel. Then, we had to pick up the rest of the passengers. After waiting for about 15 minutes for the last couple, we were on our way. Our first stop was a to a restaurant for breakfast. Breakfast was not included but was welcomed because our pick up time was so early that the restaurant at hotel wasn't opened yet. We were hungry. Although we only supposed to be here for 45 minutes. It was more like 1.5 hours. No one was in a hurry to go anywhere. After a short ride, we stopped at a convenience store for a restroom stop. I thought it was supposed to be 5-10 minutes which turned into 30 minutes long. We were waiting on one couple. How long could it take at a convenience store? Apparently, you can do a lot of shopping there. All of us were anxious to move along except for 2 people. They came back with a cooler full of drink making supplies. Our driver didn't bother to hurry them along. At least, they offered us drinks. Lol. Finally, we made it to Balandra after about 4.5 hours. We were allowed 2 hours here. There were a few people there. We didn't get there early enough to have gotten the few palapas there. They were all taken. We walked to the mushroom rock where there was a line of people waiting for their turn to take pics. We ended up staying about 3 hours here. Other people in our tour weren't in a hurry to go any where. The facilities here are basic. I really didn't want to find out how basic they were. They look like portal potties. Our tour guide said there were better facilities at our next stop, Coromulel. He said there were hot showers so we can clean up before lunch. We were given 20 minutes instead of an hour because we were in a Balandra longer than we should. There were no hot showers and the bathrooms were dirty. We could have skipped this stop. We were given 20 minutes in La Paz for a phot op at the La Paz sign. Well, 20 turned into 40 minutes. People in our group were taking their time getting ice creams and was in no hurry. Our driver was very patience and didn't bother to hurry them along or asked them to be punctual. BTW, we were the only Americans while everyone else were Mexicans. There might be a cultural difference here. Punctuality might not be important when you're on vacation. When in Mexico do what the locals do, right? My always on time daughter was having a really hard time with this. Finally, we were heading to lunch. It was already passed 3 p.m. and we were hungry. You have your choice of either fish and ceviche or something else. The fish was baked and served on the baking tray to be shared with other fish eating people. If you don't eat fish like my girls then you were separated into the other sides of the table with the rest of the people who's didn't choose fish. A little different but it was OK. I enjoyed the fish and ceviche. The only part I did not like is having to share and other people were using their used silverware to scoop out the fish. I did not want other people germs in my food. We hopped back into the van to our last stop in Todos Santos but without stopping first at the jewelry store for some sales pitch and tequila shot. Our family were not into jewelry so we walked to Hotel California which is just down the block. This a sleepy little town where there wasn't much happening. The main attraction is the Hotel California. Again, we stayed here longer than we should have. It was OK. I think the rest of my family finally getting a hang of rolling with the punches. We didn't get back to our hotel until after 8 p.m. An 8 hour tour that turned into a 14 hours tour. Our guide wasn't much of a guide. May be too much work to provide narrative in both languages. He was just a driver who drove us to where we need to go. I have to give him props for being so patience. It was a very long day for him. He never lost his cool. Always greet us with a smile on his face. The tour could have been much better if our guide was more of a guide rather than just a driver. Despite it all, it was a good way to get away from the hustle and bustle of Cabos.

I contacted them to cancel multiple times more than 24 hours in advance of our scheduled tour, but they refused to refund our money. Their refund policy states that I should get back 80%, but it's been months and I haven't received anything. They probably would have had to cancel the tour because of the weather anyway. Knowing it's a 20 minute walk from the place where the cruise ship tender drops you off to the place where the tour boats dock, we decided to scout it out the night before. The email from the company instructed us to check in at the Roger's office ("kiosko 2") to ensure we got the correctly-fitting snorkeling gear, so we went looking for the office using a map from the Roger's website and Google maps. We tried inputting the exact address from the email and asking everyone we could find at Puerto Paraiso mall, but when we went to the alleged office location, nothing was there. As a last ditch effort, on the way out of the mall, we paused and asked a random guy at a booth with ads for tours (mind you, nowhere did it say Roger's on it)! This booth was NOT located in the same spot indicated in the map on the Roger's website. However, this guy was somehow able to look up our reservation, and it was legit because he knew my name even though I never said it. He told us to just meet at the dock the next day - not to even worry about going to the "office" (wherever it may be). So that's what I would advise any future travelers to do - just go to Dock D, which isn't hard to find. Ahead of time, I had emailed the company and asked if I could add additional people to our tour and how to pay for them. I received a response indicating we would need to pay 35 per person and they could either send me a PayPal account to put the money in, or we could pay at the dock. When we got on the boat, we inquired about the two extra people and were told to pay 40 dollars. Thankfully I had the email from the company and I disputed this. I was given a roundabout explanation about how the corporate office is somewhere else in Mexico and sometimes there's miscommunication. This felt like an attempt to con more money out of us, but to their credit, they did honor the emailed price. The tour itself was great. We had Jonathan as the guide and Memo as the boat driver. Jonathan had great English skills and was knowledgeable. Our kids got to drive the boat, which had them laughing hysterically. They also dropped a couple members of our party off to snorkel in a designated spot, and the snorkel gear they provided seemed nicer than the cheap stuff we brought. At the end, they offered to drop us off closer to the cruise ship to help us avoid the 20-minute walk, but said it would be a $2 dock fee per person. We did take them up on that, as we had small kids in the party and didn't want them to have to do the walk in the hot sun. They do take pictures during the tour and offer you the chance to buy them at the end. Technically this is mentioned on the website, so it's not surprising. However, I will note that they offered us a discount on the photos at the end if we left them a review - lowering the price from 80 to 50 dollars. So, take that into account when you read other reviews. We declined. I recall when I was researching tour options that some other customers had mentioned their tours being outsourced to other people. There is definitely something odd with the "company." It presents itself on its website like a small business and frequent references are made to "our boat." But when you get to the dock, nothing says "Roger's" - no signage, no uniforms, etc. There's also more than one boat - another party was checking in at the exact same time as we were with the same people. It's almost like they've been bought out by a bigger conglomerate of tour operators. Perhaps this explains the conflicting information in some spots (i.e., the email confirmation saying to check in early at an office but a guy at a random kiosk that doesn't say Roger's on it somehow having our reservation and telling us to just go to the dock). Overall, we enjoyed the tour itself, but the issues with finding the location and being asked to pay different fees than we were quoted were off-putting.

The company Cabo Adventures is a total scam and preys on vulnerable families. I will NEVER use them again for any other activity despite us coming to Cabo every year. I encourage every one from Yelp not to use them as well. Each ticket cost over $200 per person to be part of a group dolphin experience. This is not even private. A child MUST be accompanied by an adult so that forces more people to join. You think after spending over $800 for 4 people they would treat us like royalty right? WRONG. They do not mention any photo pricing online because they don't want to scare you away before you purchase your tickets. But let me tell you, it's an all or nothing photo package (you cannot pick a few or buy per picture) and it was over $500!!!!!! The b*tch working at the photo center must get off on making kids cry because when you call her out on the ridiculous prices, she shuts off the computer, takes her booklet, and says "ok good bye, there's the door". They do not negotiate at all because they know you have no other option. It's truly heartless. How insulting after we just spent $800 just on the tickets for a 30 min SHARED experience. They allow observers who are not doing the dolphin experience but they conveniently put them far away from where the dolphins are so it's impossible for them to take any pictures or video. Note: females you are NOT allowed to have anything in your hair such as hair ties or clips which there is no mention online or even when you check in. They don't give a reason why and it really sucked because the day we went it was super windy and our hair went everywhere ruining a lot of the photos plus making it hard to see in the water with hair in your face. My poor daughter had to take out her cute braids :/ Many other great and reasonable experiences. Go elsewhere and do NOT support Cabo adventures. Shame on you guys. UPDATE: I'd like to respond to the manager Lorena who tries to justify these ridiculous prices instead of listening to her customers' feedbacks and making adjustments. No, it's not optional to get the photos because what's the point of doing this experience if you do not have pictures to keep as memories? Yes, I understand there's safety regulations about not having cameras with us in the pool but forcing bystanders not in the pool to be over 100 ft away to take pictures which will be blurring, you leave us no choice but to purchase the photos. Nobody is asking for free photos but charging $500 is a scam. Even Disneyland only charges $80 for unlimited photos for a whole week! And respect gets respect. After spending over $800, YOUR employee is the one who was disrespectful to me first with her attitude about the price and not even trying to talk to your supervisor or work something out with me. Clearly, you only care about profit, not about customers leaving happy or having a good experience.

A total of 4 of us booked a reservation through Amstar at Cactus Tours for the side by side UTVs (2 vehicles of 2 drivers and 2 passengers). Amount paid in full to Amstar a month in advance excluding the $25USD cash entry fee per person which we paid day-of. Also on day-of, we were offered upgrade options. The only option we proceeded with was to upgrade each vehicle 1 horsepower level up which was listed as $85 USD per vehicle for a total of $170 USD.  This was also explained to us that upgrading to that vehicle power meant insurance was included so no need for additional insurance purchase or security hold on the card. We declined ALL other upgrade options.  No private tour, no higher vehicle power upgrade beyond the 1 level up, NOTHING else. We provided a credit card and the staff member took the card for the transaction.  Again, the staff member insisted on upgrading to a private tour but we declined (which we later realized was because they didn't have any other parties booked at our time so it inevitably became a private tour anyway, they just hoped to get more $$ for it). He ran the card and handed us the receipt while rushing to direct us away to the locker area. Later upon arrival back to our hotels, we finally had a moment to review the receipt for the upgrade charges and saw it was actually charged $7,200 MXN (about $400 USD) with no itemization.  This isn't inclusive of any transaction or currency conversion fees, that is the amount directly on the receipt. This is DRASTICALLY way more than the upgrades we agreed to with no explanation or breakdown. Despite saying otherwise in other review replies, their website is not transparent in charges as the "upgrade" sheets they have in the lobby show charges differently than the website displays. The charge in MXN should have been roughly $3,060. I was overcharged $4,140 MXN, more than double what the true upgrade charge should have been alone. I went back and forth for days with Cactus Tours via calls and emails until after a week they finally stopped answering me completely. I'm in the process of filing a fraudulent chargeback with my credit card company since Cactus Tours chose to ignore my attempts for an amicable refund of the difference. Be VERY aware of all charges and do NOT let them rush you day-of at check-in without doublechecking everything if you still choose to do any activity at Cactus Tours. The tour guides will now also insist it is customary to tip $50 per vehicle at the end of the tour. This tip pressure did not exist in 2022. An additional $50 tip on top of the $25 per person entrance fee, any upgrade charges, plus initial reservation fees is wild.

Suzanne and her team have been nothing short of amazing! I was planning a bachelorette for my bff…read morein less than two months and stumbled across Cabo Party Fun. They offer many types of bach services, and I ended up booking a sunset yacht cruise. About an hour into the ride, the whales started playing and singing, and it was such a beautiful surprise for the group! Despite a few of us being hungover and seasick, Diego and his crew were so much and knew how to keep the party going! Our driver Bradley was patient with us and kept us safe. Rachel was always just one call/text away if we needed anything. Lastly, Suzanne has been fantastic! Always there to help through all my endless questions. THANK YOU!

What that means is that you must ask strangers to slide over so you can sit. If you are a family of five, it means to sit, you may have some members on the top floor others at random tables. They oversell the ship especially around whale watching season. Avoid this tourist trap!!! Do not believe the tour operators at your resorts. The boat is okay and the food smelled good, but you will be standing for two hours or seating cramped with close to 200 strangers with only about 150 seats, half of which are benches with no backs. If the operators weren't so money hungry and full of spiteful greed, the tour might have been nice. Say they sold the ship to the true seated capacity. The horrible captain made an announcement asking people to scoot over. Families with kids or the elderly (the majority of families) were not interested in moving. I wasted too many precious vacations hours on this tour. I wasted too many precious dollars on this waste. If negative stars were ever an option this would be it. This tour is horrible, horrifying, horrific, abominable, awful, terrible, tragic, and all other adjectives that express regret and anger. This tour will lend to the ruination of your vacation day. Avoid it like the plague. Avoid it at all costs. I rarely write such negative reviews but today is that day. I wish I would have trusted my intuition and gotten off. Should have just jumped overboard. Sugar Honey Iced Tea show writ large. Negative stars and damn sure would never ever ever recommend!
