This food truck has started popping up around my office lately. A coworker told me about it, and I initially looked for it and couldn't find it. But now I seem to find it conveniently on 19th whenever I'm walking over there! Right now they're there on Mondays and Thursdays -- I recall searching for them on other days, but I didn't see them at the locations their website said they would be. But since it's been consistently coming to 19th Street, I have had the opportunity to have it twice, and I had the JerkBowl each time. The chicken comes off the bone so easily, and it is indeed JERKED! It's got a great taste, and the yellow rice it comes with compliments it very well. I will be trying their mac and cheese and greens in the near future, hopefully. I hope that they continue to get great business because this is food that should not be ignored! I FINALLY got to this spot!! It's been on my list of "Go To's" for a second now. Good people let me tell you...I'm so very glad that I went!! Located at 6120 Marlboro Pike., District Heights M.D. nestled between a tattoo parlor, and a couple other stores you'll find @luvplatesgrill with their beautifully designed black & orange signage!! This spot is momentarily take out only, they accept cash, and credit/debit, and they also have catering available. Their menu is concise, simple, and effective. They have sizable bowls like their DC Gumbo (with turkey sausage, and hormone free chicken $15), and their Homestyle Jerk Chicken (24 hour marinated wings smothered over red beans & rice $15). They also have some signature sandwiches like their "Jimmy Blue"(Maryland lump crab cake $20), and their "Fall off the Bone"(24 hour LuvRub-Ribs-w/BBQ sweet sauce $10). The sides include their World Famous Mac n Cheese (pictured-$8 reg. size), "Mamas Greens"(pictured-$8 reg. size), and their flavorful Red beans & Rice ($4 reg. size). On this trip I copped their Mac n Cheese, a Homestyle Jerk chicken sandwich (pictured-$6 on potato bread), and their 3 for $20 deal where I chose the Pan-seared Salmon ($3 extra), Mamas greens, and the 24 hr. Jerk chicken with the Red beans, and rice. So I started by dipping into the greens...FRESH, and seasoned to perfection!! I then took a bite out of the jerk chicken sandwich...I didn't want to stop!! It was glistening with flavor, a hint of bbq mixed with the jerk made for a tasty sandwich. Then I put a fork to the jerk wings, and watched the meat fall off the bone right into the red beans and rice. Spiced right, savory...it hit the spot. So I'm not a huge Salmon fan, but their pan seared fish with peppers, jerk sauce with a hint of bbq...made me a bigger fan!! Deliciousness!! Lastly I tackled that Mac n Cheese...I was leery via the price, and the "World Famous" title. When you go...GET IT...it's worth it. Customer service was phenomenal, they patiently explained their meals, and spotlighted the freshness of their food (which you can definitely taste). Went to this place after I tried it before and wasn't impressed. I think new owners have it or something but babyyyyy, the food now is off the chain. I usually get the jerk wings, best jerk wings in the city by any restaurant, I stamp that. I love this spot it reminds me of that southern cooking u can't find at a restaurant but more like At your grandmothers house. The lasagna is what's really special angus beef with sweet Italian sausages definitely a plus in my book. The greens has a nice lil kick to it I love that they are mixed greens. Also the Mac n cheese is really creamy FYI. Wait but let me brag on the ribs "FALLING OFF THE BONES delicious" I've been referring everyone to the spot because it's just that good. Pretty good! I got the 3/$15 mac, greens and ribs. Greens are pretty good. Ribs are a little too tangy/sweet with a strange flavor. Mac is EXTRA cheesy. This truck is outside my job every Tuesday. I always saw my coworkers getting food and I never went but today I decided to stop. I got a crab cake with Mac and cheese and the buffet and with that I got gumbo, greens and Mac and cheese. The food was delicious to me. The greens are cooked with turkey and seasoned just right. I'm giving 2 stars because food was good but over priced. I see that online has pick 3 for $15, but was charged $20 for 3 items at food truck. Meat was over th rice, so not much meat, so for tiny portion rib, small portion bbq chicken over rice and Mac and cheese, $20 at food truck is bit too much. I won't be coming back. I stopped by this truck for lunch because the pictures on the side of the truck look fantastic. I ordered the "Luvsagna" (lasagna) because, in hindsight, you don't often see food trucks serving lasagna. As a matter of fact, I've never seen a food truck serve lasagna. Anyway, I got a sample of the mac and cheese and it was AMAZING! If I wasn't already busting my diet for the lasagna, I definitely would've gotten the mac too. When luv plates food truck is in the area, I go straight to them without browsing and weighing my lunch options at other food trucks. The service is good and the food is amazing! Please bring back those lasagna!! Pretty please! I am so annoyed that people complained about their lasagna saying it's heavy for lunch. They could have just portioned and eaten it the next day. I'm a supporter of black owned businesses so when this came around I was on board , rather when they officially had their own spot and not in Brentwood at the food hall. My best Friiiieennnd and I tried them out we were sooo excited as we always are trying new spots. She got the salmon which she said was seconds away from being really dry but still felt they left it on too long, she didn't care for the bbq halal, her fiancé had the jerk chicken and peas(like yellow rice no beans) he didn't like it at all nor the ribs. I had the Mac and cheese and I'm a connoisseur of a Mac and it was overpoweringly cheesy I couldn't get a feel of the noodle /cheese balance ratio ,maybe because it was shells and not elbow idk. The Jerk Chicken was spiced as it is and the greens I fucked those up!!! They didn't have the dessert of the day and a few other items but overall we loved the fact that two young girls were working there giving the youth an opportunity to earn their own. Visited at savor at studio 3807 this afternoon for the grand opening. The turkey gumbo and cabbage were 10/10 and the atmosphere is awesome.

We waded into the culinary column of food trucks on the south side of the Air & Space museum hoping to find something better than the $7.50 hotdog offered inside. My wife stopped for some nice looking pork buns, but I was pulled, as if by some arcane means, to LuvPlates Soul & Grill. I got a 3/$15 combo with ribs, jerk chicken w/ rice & beans, and Mac & Cheese. The Mac and cheese started out kinda blah, until I ate some of the chicken. The spice from the chicken enhanced everything it touched, the bed of rice and beans it came on became ambrosia. The ribs were equally good, falling off the bone and delicious.
