Order at the front, then wait for your name to be called. No service (you busk your own tables) yet the minimum tip option was 15%. Coffees are $3.25 to $6.00 USD in three sizes (8 oz, 12 oz and 16 oz). For food, they offer pies, pastries, sandwiches, breakfast sammies, bagels and quiches. - Latte ($5.25 USD 12 oz) - subbed for oat ($1.25 USD extra). Solid but pricey cup of coffee. - Ham breakfast sammie ($8.50 USD) - black forest ham, egg, dijon and aged white cheddar. Sandwich was tiny and bland. I know that when you have a really good coffee space, that people are gonna come get on their computers, sip their water, maybe one cup of coffee all day in common dear a spot. The issue was when one person takes up a spot for three and stays there for hours. Which happens here. I'm happy for those people, who maybe can't afford Wi-Fi but maybe they should go to Starbucks and take their coffee from this place to Starbucksbecause Starbucks has a lot more room and people move faster. The cappuccino was the best I've had anywhere. Waiting to sit to drink. It was not the best I've had anywhere. There's also a long line so if you don't like lines at your problem, I really don't mind waiting in line for the best cup of coffee. But once I get it, I wanna sit down somewhere. Really good coffee. Excellent pastries. I highly recommend the raspberry bran muffins, and I don't care if that makes me sound like an old man. They're delicious. While there are a thousand coffee shops in every corner of Portland where you can go and be condescendingly judged by the staff for your style, drink choice, audacity for being, etc... this is not one of them. It's almost as if their goal is to ensure you have an enjoyable experience and that you want to come back. So far, they are nailing it. The people that run this place are terrible. They hate dogs. They hate people who have dogs. They are haters. They don't understand the service animal thing. They think that there's some kind of standard when there isn't. The manager lied actually straight out lied about my dog. He said my dog was barking. He said this because she is a dog. He made an assumption and lied because he thought it was safe. He has green painted fingernails. I love this place. I've been coming here for decades. Today I ordered the quiche. Usually their quiche is tall, fluffy and the crust is flaky and light. Today? Ugh. I've been to this great cafe in Montavilla many times. I often house/pet sit nearby and always make a point to visit when I'm around. I think they streamlined their menu a bit during the pandemic. I love being able to pick up at the window outside if I'm not dining in. There's street parking nearby and a covered seating area on the road/sidewalk. The staff have always been very friendly and prepared everything well. I've had solid bagel sandwiches and regular sandwiches from Bipartisan but usually just get a latte to go. I don't know if they're still on the menu, but the coffee and chai milkshakes are/were yummy. I'm really surprised that I don't recall having ever gotten quiche, pie, or any other kind of pastry or sweet item. They always look good so hopefully it is just a matter of time. read more

Oh my .. one star, just like five stars are very hard for me to give out, you got to work pretty hard to earn that. Well, congrats you did it Bipartisan. I ordered 4 pie slices and 2 sandwiches, from their menu on their website, 16 hours advance no less, when it arrived the pies were not in the bag, but there was a note that said, "sorry- we don't have the rest " and then they put a happy face on the receipt. I had to ask for a refund on the missing food items. This is really poor customer service and the happy face was tacky, even if I have a good sense of humor. Don't put items on the menu, when you can't provide them, and if you can't provide them... let your customers know in advance. read more

I appreciate that this place has vegan options. Their vegan pies are very good. However, they charge an additional $1.25 to use oat milk in a cappuccino. This is much more than any other coffee shop I have been to in town. I have also been served real egg in my "vegan" breakfast sandwich, which is microwaved and not that great under the best of circumstances. Totally rude employees! I was with my dog and peaked my head in and asked if I could please order a cup of coffee and pay at the pick-up window, as I guess one does when ordering online. Overall this cafe is adorable. This is a wonderful place to come to get work done because of the abundance of outlets, but also if you would like a high quality sweet treat, or a wonderfully homemade feel breakfast Sammie. The overall atmosphere is welcoming, inviting, and the right amount of homey. There is plenty of space so a lot of people can fit comfortably. The noise level is doable if you want to get work done. A pair of noise cancelling headphones will drown out any unwanted noise. This would also be a lovely place for a date with someone special as they have a few good private corners for privacy. The service was fast, the banana cream pie was TO DIE FOR. I highly recommend. The portion size was hefty as well so you could split with someone else if you choose. Overall, 10/0! read more

$1.25 for "alternative milk" in my coffee is absurd. Why do I have to pay for half the container when you're only using a splash in my drink? What is the justification for discriminating against someone who is not able to drink cow milk or who would prefer to make the healthier, more compassionate (towards cows) and more sustainable choice? It's seriously not ok the health violations I've witnessed the last month at this coffee shop that I used to call home. I've written two letters to the Owner Josh Pangelinan, one I mailed and one was put in the mail slot on the door. Both were ignored. So I'll state the issues here. There is a tall strawberry blonde that works there and she/they have two long braids that go to their rib cage, they wear them dangling in the front and have witnessed the braids fall in drinks while they laugh and wipe them off with a rag, l've also witnessed the same issue while their making sandwiches. I've watched the Cashier take orders and handle money, then jump in to help make drinks and not wash his hands. The same thing happened with a dark haired Woman with shorter dual braids, bus the tables, then put down the dish tub to jump in and make sandwiches without washing her hands. All these situations go against health code violations. I will be making a formal report to the health department in person tomorrow. If you like hair blatantly put in your food and drinks and unwashed hands, then Bon Appetite to you!! read more

Pie! My mom loves pie. It's something we can do together. The boomer and her silent generation (she never got the memo) mom stuff their faces with delights assembled by the three generations behind us. As mom says, "these kids know how to bake." I like anything but fruit in my pie and mom eats every kind of fruit pie they make. Great prices and a funky little dining area where we can enjoy some coffee with our slices. We get it to go sometimes and enjoy how the whipped cream stays fluffy in the container until we get home. Parking can be tough but walking off a few calories lessens the guilt. read more

We stopped in after going to the local farmers' market. Yes, it was busy and understandably took awhile to have our order taken. However, our coffee was served 10-15 minutes before our pie and cake. We finished our drinks before the rest of the order arrived. We went up to the counter three times to check on our order as we wanted to enjoy our drinks with our dessert. My chocolate cream pie was dried out on one side - I would assume it hadn't been covered after being cut probably the day before. The chocolate flavor was very weak. My husband's carrot cake was very dry and crumbly. We each took a few bites, then left. We would have asked for our money back, but frankly we didn't want to wait another long while for that to happen. I know it is busy during a farmers' market weekend, but it is September and that should have been figured out by now. Also, the drinks and the desserts should have arrived together. Had we wanted to order more coffee, it would have been another long wait. We also noticed the woman in front of us in line had two different issues with her order as well. Normally the problem for most places is the food but everything else is great. The problem at the bipartisan is the Service, it's horrible, And to be honest embarrassing. Food was fairly good. I got lentil soul and tried my friends chili soup. Also got a mushroom sandwich and my friend got the cheese sandwich; both... good. Coffee was... good. Good place to drop by. The space has a vibe... bipartisan-y, go figure. The servers don't swarm you with overt attention, they give you mindful space. I'd come back again. Every time I come here the service gets ruder and ruder. Stopped there briefly today for a latte before a walk. The guy was pretty snippy about me wearing a mask even though I was outside and there was a window and no contact. I had it with me, so no problem. Didn't need to be so snippy though. Every time I have come here though, the service had been kind of rude. The lattes weren't very hot either. No pie it looked like either but was afraid to ask. I wish I could give 2 reviews- 5 stars for the food and pie! 1 star for the staff and drinks. I have tried to make this cafe the go-to since I live in the neighborhood. The staff is always insanely rude, and I manage coffee places, I would be embarrassed if my staff treated people like this. I am always friendly and tip well but every time they act like their job is horrid. The drinks are even worse. A different temp every time, no syrup in lattes, not dialed in espresso. I got a chai today that was more foamy than a cappuccino and not even luke warm... Training and some friendly people would do this place wonders. read more
