Best shop in town, they built my 6th gen ZL1and my C7 Z06. They are the only shop I trust in town…read more Joe and his staff are very knowledgeable, honest, and communicated with me throughout the process. I highly recommend checking them out.

I have a ruined motor and am out $35,000 between the work I did with this shop, other shops chasing…read morethe issue and the $15,000 loss in resale value under KBB I had to sell the car at following my use of this shop. I took my car into their shop in the beginning June of 2020, I had a 2016 camaro SS which I brought in for heads and cam and possibly pistons/rods following a money shift, basically replacing any and all parts that were damaged in the shift. Car ran fine going into the shop, just ticked (lifter) but it was not driven since the shift. It did need pistons and rods, so I had them throw in a set of Texas speed pistons and rods (their part recommendation), and a completely different set of cylinder headsfrom GPI. It was in and out of the shop over a 6 month period through November of that same year because every time I got the car back, it would have a weird intermittent misfire. They took it in every time and wouldn't charge labor for their fixes as they shouldn't have, I'd already spent 13 grand with them, but they would have me replace things that did nothing to solve the issue including an ECU, of which the original was completely fine. The only thing they replaced that likely had some effect was they found a crack in one of the cylinder heads, so they sent it off to GPI and got a replacement, but still the car would misfire within a couple days of taking it back from their shop. I also noticed a rats nest in the engine bay after I got it back, as they keep the cars outdoor in an unfenced area and there was at least at the time rats in the parking lot and near the dumpster. Even saw an owl scoop one up one night I was there. After noticing misfires I would never drive it because I didn't want to screw anything up. After taking it back for them to fix it 3 or 4 times over the 6 month period and never getting a different result after every time it left I had no faith in their ability to fix it (who would? 6 months and 4 do overs is more than enough chances, and if you can't fix it by then why would you be able to fix it the 5th or 6th time?) I eventually decided I needed to take it to someone I know would know what they were doing, and shipped it to GPI who were looking at cylinder heads as a possible culprit, or tuning as well because there was some very weird things in the five bar tune, including disabling VVT on a VVT cam which is designed to take advantage of VVT, not lock it out, and did a compression test which it passed, and it was making the power it should at that point. I get the car back from them, and notice it had been misfiring around 6100 rpm which seemed to be where it would misfire, so again I let the car sit until I could afford to take it somewhere else to look at it. Finally December 2021 comes and I bring it to another shop who again decided it was probably mechanical, as it had fuel and spark and the GPI tune didn't do anything to fix it, even after starting with a fresh file from GPI who are the consensus best best there is for the late model GM platform, they decided to do a leak down, and it catastrophically failed it. 50-80% compression loss on 3 cylinders. Upon a bore scope inspection they saw the piston rings had failed and were being scraped against the bore, and had scored it really badly. It would need at least a full rebuild assuming there was anything salvageable, because not even the intake valves on the cylinder heads could hold any compression. It in all likelihood was not that bad from the beginning, but because I would get this car back and be told it's 100% good to go so I would drive the car until proven otherwise and it likely made the issue worse over time. Five bar motorsports was the only shop to ever pull the cylinder heads or come anywhere close to the pistons or piston rings, and I put less than 2,000 miles on the car since it left their shop. They've done absolutely nothing to make it right, not even a partial refund of labor for the pistons, because "they can't speak for what GPI did" GPI!! Do NOT use this shop. If you must go local, use NÜR.
