If you see souffle pancake, your mind might instantly want to compare it to Japanese souffle pancakes like mine did. Aesthetics-wise, this pancake souffle is just an eyesore. I attached a photo so how torn up it is around the surface. It even fell apart from the bottom when I cut it into it and picked it up. Texture wasn't like Japanese souffle pancakes but that's fine, the batter was still tasty. Can't say the same for my waffles. Waffles were wonderfully soft but lacking in flavor. Chicken were thin and dry. Very loud inside, minimal space between tables - I know, it's a bar. Service took a while to make its way to me to certain parts of the dining process but it was packed. Overall, underwhelming food experience, at least the brunch part, for a restaurant connected to the Gibsons restaurants. Came here for brunch with a friend. Not my kind of place - seats were way too close to other people's table for comfort. We had a corner table to the back but even then I felt like sardine packed in. I got accidentally elbowed by another customer as I was making my way into the table. Might not be the best place for a party of 3 and over, but that's just me. You could hear the conversation people were having at close range. Food was okay, bland in my opinion. Nothing much about it to rave about. I think I had better omelets else where for the same price. The food is excellent but the staff is EXCEPTIONAL. So gracious. My steak was cooked incorrectly and the hostess apologized vehemently and said it was her mistake. If I could add five more stars, I would. My family and I visiting Chicago from Louisville, Kentucky, stumbled on to this marvelous place and what a find! The restaurant has a brunch menu replete with selections that make it hard to decide amongst them, so we all had something different. From my son's French toast (pictured) to my traditional skillet breakfast to my DIL's avocado toast, we ate like royalty. The servings are huge, and my two year old granddaughter ate two orders of Nueske's delicious bacon in addition to her kids menu pancakes. As excellent as the food and ambience are, the very best part of our breakfast was our server Kendra. Saturday morning in a crowded restaurant is always challenging and not only did she deliver steaming hot food, she also checked on us frequently and responded to our many needs quickly and with patience and good humor. Went here for brunch during Thanksgiving holiday. Place was packed n super busy because located in shopping district in Chicago. We ordered schnitzel, burgers, calamari. Food was excellent, definitely tops. However we ended waiting over 40 mins for simple burgers then waitress realized she forgot to input that order. That tells me some order control and training needs to be done there . Manager came by and apologized several times ..that was in good form and mistakes happen. One of our Chicago Gold Coast favorites! Try to get here at least once a month, and even more when we have visitors and bring them. Much overdue review, as we've been coming here a few years now. Great location around all the shops, very walkable and pretty condo/brownstone streets, and has both indoor and outdoor dining during the warmer months. We've sat in all areas, and the patio and dining are our favorites. The bar is also nice, but is pretty tight with tables/chairs and typically TVs on so can get loud. They're known for their old fashions and Moscow mules, which we've also enjoyed. We don't branch out much with the food we have, because we know what we like. Our favorites are starting with the chicken tenders and calamari, and entrees the Luxe Club, Turkey burger, or Cobb Salad (add chicken). Highly recommend reservations, as it does get busy on prime days/times. Service is typically good, but what I appreciate most is that they usually have a few managers on duty that check in each table and make sure things are going well. The downstairs area is your classic bar with wood benches, bars, and features. The service was wonderful and we were so pleased we tried to go back again a second time the same weekend. I've been to luxbar 3x and it's been fantastic every time! Food is fantastic and service is phenomenal. My favorite is the truffle fries, must try. The most recent time, Leandra was so attentive and made suggestions to our meal that made it 10/10. Honestly, the pictures I attached say enough, the labeled macaroni gratin is what was advertised, the unlabeled is what I got. I mean, this is straight up false advertising. Fraud. Catfishing of the highest degree. And no, this is not a situation where the looks were deceiving lol and it came out better than it looked. It tastes like it looks, bland and gray. We ordered take out the other night and it was delicious. I called the order in. Even though it was late, the guy on the phone assured me it wouldn't be a problem for the kitchen that was getting ready to shut down. I drove over and picked up my order that was ready right on time. The bartender greeted me warmly by name when I walked in. He was so friendly yet professional. His gracious service both on the phone and in person was very impressive. When I got home, I found a perfect order. Everything was exactly how we had asked. The portion size was fantastic as well. My friend loved her burger. I had hoped for more of a chopped salad with iceberg and other lettuce options. Although it wasn't what I had expected, I enjoyed my salad with shrimp just the same. The side of brussel sprouts was delicious. We added martinis made at home and enjoyed a nice meal. My impression of my carry out experience was positive. Wow, was there yesterday on my day off with a couple of friends. Being a woman of transgender experience I never know how I'll be greeted and treated. The host was pleasant the waiter was great. Bravo for who ever set the tone and is guiding/motivating the staff to serve guest just as that, as guests. He used the proper pronouns when addressing my girlfriend and I.
