Having a good stylist can be more important than a therapist sometimes, because they will make you look and feel gorgeous and beautiful. I don't have a therapist but I do have Christine as my stylist, and this girl does wonders with my hair! She always always nails any look or whim I may have about color or cut, I bring a picture in, she makes it better than the pic! Always fitting my face, and proportions. It's one thing to have a hand for it, but she also has an eye for it and is conscious of any trend it anything fitting. There is not enough to be said about having a piece of mind that you will walk in and come out gorgeous and radiant every single time!!!! Ladies if you're looking for a cut do yourself a favor and come see Christina Valenzuela. I stepped outside of the salon 10 minutes ago and I can not stop smiling. She cut off 5 inches of hair and made sure my hair was textured the way I wanted. I got my hair washed, cut, blow dried and styled for $85 (excluding tip). I was able to get an appointment quickly and everyone in the salon was super nice! Will be back! read more

I'm a hair snob...there, I said it. I like to find one person and stick with them when I like them. But I've moved, my hair dresser has moved and I can't commute far anymore so for the past 3 years or so, I've been "trying" out new people. With Lifebooker and groupon, it makes me feel good to pay a discounted rate to try someone rather than full price, not knowing if I like them. My last hair cut and highlights were in Jan (it's now Sept) and I went to Juan's in Westwood. I Loved my hair when I left but I actually won the whole cut and color at an auction and when I went to leave, I asked what they normally charged so I could tip appropriately and it would have been over $300 for both. Well...like I said I loved my hair but I'm not in that price range to be doing that as often as I like. So here comes Luxe on Lifebooker...I guess I'll try it out, why not. Daphne cut my hair and I showed her photos and told her I'd like the same cut I currently had, just shorter. I can't say how happy I am with her. She did a terrific job and she is super nice! Wow!! It's rare that I'm ever this happy with a new cut. After a couple YEARS of letting my hair carry on in it's own frumpy way , I decided I needed something pretty, simple and low maintenance. I'm very lazy with my hair and I have had so much of it (waist long, thick black hair) for so long that I lost interest in styling many moons ago. I went in yesterday for a cut and Sunny had me covered. I expressed to her that I was very nervous- borderline nauseous about cutting my hair. I told her I wanted to keep as much as possible and she was so accommodating. She was very friendly and focused on her work. We had some chit chat but nothing too personal like I've experienced other places (nail salons, I'm looking at you!). She was very careful to gather my opinion as she went so I could get the best haven't-cut-my-hair-in-4-years experience at Luxe. I did experience a little but of a wait, even with an appointment but it was of little relevance. I knew I was going to the best place I could be and I didn't mind at all. The owner was so polite and apologetic about having a long wait time so she threw in a free hair shine spritzy thing. I've only used it once but it looked great! I think I've found my go to place. Christine is exactly what I was looking for. I'm really not the type of person that likes to chat constantly while I'm getting my hair done, and Christine seemed to understand that. Even so, I found myself talking to her about my job and things I was actually interested in, and that she seemed interested in as well. I got a haircut and highlights - both of which turned out perfectly. I told her I like to scrunch my hair so it's wavy, but that my hair is long and thick. She took off the right amount of weight so it curls beautifully, and gave me the long side bangs I wanted. She also has a fantastic policy where she'll touch-up or alter your hair if you're not happy within two weeks. Needless to say, I didn't need to take her up on that policy. Christine George is AMAZING! First, I met with Christine for a complimentary consultation to explain to her exactly what I was looking for and find out what she could do with my hair. I'd recently had some color damage to my hair and knew I needed a professional with a lot of experience to work on my damaged hair to help it get back to it's healthy self. Christine took her time to really talk with me and find out what I wanted. She was super professional and knowledgeable and so easy to talk to. After my initial consultation with Christine, I booked my first appointment with her which was super easy because even though she is always booked with clients, she was totally flexible with fitting me into her schedule so that I could be seen soon and enough time would be allotted so that she could really take her time with my hair. Christine did an amazing job highlighting my hair without over processing it and correcting the color damage I had prior to coming to her. The highlighting process was thorough but pretty quick - which I love because I don't like sending an entire day at the salon :). After she toned my hair, she let me know I might want a second toner to help tone the ends of my hair a little more since they were the most damaged part of my hair (from my previous color damage). She told me I could either do the second toner that same day or go home and wash my hair a few times and then decide if I wanted to come back in for it. I decided to wash it a few times and then decided if I wanted the second toner. After one week, I called Christine to schedule a time to go back in for the second toner. She was so easy to make a last minute appointment with since it was just for a toner. She was able to schedule me in between another appointment of hers and when I got to the salon she took care of me immediately. I was so happy with the results after taking her advice to have the second toner too. I appreciated the fact that she clearly explained to me what my options were and then let me decide what I thought was best. I never felt pressured to make any decisions and appreciated her honesty and professionalism. It's taken me a year to find a person to do my hair who I really trust, is professional, does an AMAZING job, and has a flexible schedule. I'm so happy I found Christine! I've been to about 4-5 other stylists and salons in the LA area over the past year and would highly recommend Christine George! She's actually solely at DEJ Salon in Sherman Oaks now. I checked this place out about two weeks ago and I was pretty pleased with my haircut. I had product in my hair when I arrived (yes, I was that guy), but Courtney hooked me up by shampooing and conditioning my hair. Aside from getting my hair clean I got what may go down in history as the best scalp massage ever. I think I almost fell asleep on the chair.
