Service is fine, got take out. But definitely gone downhill. Big chunks of zucchini, mushy carrots and bitter green peppers, no actual Asian vegetables, no bok choy, snow peas, baby corn or other good vegetables, just the cheap ones, all swimming in a sickly sweet sauce with limp globs of unchewable basil. This is my favorite restaurant in town! I have celiacs disease and cannot eat gluten, the staff is very accommodating and conscious of allergies. The vibes are immaculate and the food is even better. My favorite dish right now is Tom Kha, and although my partner gets 3 or 4 stars, I only get 1 because I can't handle spice as well. What I love about this place, is the lower star meals aren't less flavorful, just less spicy. I crave Thai food a lot, but nowadays I find myself craving Luxe Thai specifically. I am confused with all these raving reviews. I got very weird and unpleasant vibes from this joint. Food overall was ok but I have notice the following: 1. I ordered spicy dish with level 3 ( out 5) it was not spicy. I mean we're talking Icelandic or Irish definition for spicy. ( for those who didn't get the j/k - it's Slightly peppered) 2. I believe, they ration the meat in their dishes ( oh GULAG, I remember the days of half potato for a dinner, and a dry pig bone for Christmas). Seriously, I had like a quarter of chicken breast in my noodle dish. 3. They need to hire one more waiter. The waiter is a lady, who is ringing cash register for take outs while simultaneously is taking orders from all the tables and bringing out the food. ( I mean, business can save money like that but seriously a part time college student can help you out) And my personal grain on top. I personally didn't like our lady - waiter ( jack of all hands); she was staring at us in a certain way. Maybe, she thought that I am going to pickpocket that fish or soy sauce from the table, or even better - steal that priceless nickel fork. Oh evil me. I wanted to update my previous review of Luxe Thai, because the first one was really hurried and short. Plus, I've been back again and the service and cuisine were again top notch. This is a pretty small restaurant, but they turn out really tasty, fresh food quickly (at least at lunch time). Service is friendly and attentive, price is very reasonable. As other posters have noted it's a small space and can fill up quickly around lunch time. I'll probably update the rating after we've sample a little more of the menu or maybe tried a dinner time visit. read more

I have eaten at many many Thai restaurants in many cities, Lux Thai continues to be my favorite. I'm not Thai nor claim to specifically have a palate for authentic Thai food but in my humble foodie opinion, this is what I would expect to eat in Thailand. The restaurant is very small in downtown Ferndale. Very tastefully decorated and very clean. The kitchen is tiny which you can see and is also very clean. The owner(s) are always working in addition to other wait staff. Super super friendly, kind, and knowledgeable. The food is hot and fresh everytime. The dishes aren't overly saucey like many Thai resturants-which can sometimes throw people off a bit-but the flavors are complimentary with just the right combo of sweet and spicy. Do yourself a favor and get out of your typical Thai rut, open your foodie pallette and try Lux Thai. You will forever re-examine your definition of Thai cuisine. read more

We can walk to this place from our home so it is a great place not just because it is close but because the food is good. I have tried several Thai restaurants here in the Bellingham area & Luxe Thai is one of the better Thai restaurants. This place is small and they have a few outdoor tables in addition to the indoor dining. I find it very relaxing here. Although the food takes an extra 5 to 10 mins. compared to bigger places it is worth it. Price is right and the portions are ample. The curries here are excellent. The pad thai is consistent and very good. People here are very sweet & we have always had good service. Nice neighborhood place. read more

The outside and decor don't leave much to get excited about but it's more than made up for with the food. For starters it's hard to find gluten free and vegetarian Thai food. That seems hard to believe since there is a strong Buddhist tradition in Thailand, but trying to get most Thai restaurants to understand vegetarian means no fish sauce seems impossible. Anyway, this place gets it. The waitress was very knowledgeable. In addition it's nice that they will make curries vegetarian and gluten free. A lot of places make their curry paste ahead of time and are unwilling to accommodate anything different. Anyway, for the actual food. The people raving about the Pad Thai are so so right. It's the best I have ever had. The Mussaman curry was delicious but not a huge crazy stand out from lots of others I have had. My husband said his Panang curry was a little bland. So for me I would rate the meal a 5 star and for him a 3 star. So let's split the difference and say it was a 4 star meal that was definitely worth it. They have a nice lunch combo for $6.95 - green curry beef (or other various classic choices) with pad thai. Good on the quality, but a little on slow side. They also offer Thai iced drinks, and I had a Thai iced tea. There was no one else there at 11:30am, but the little unassuming place was packed by 12:20pm. The single server was a bit overwhelmed with the customers, as well as the phoned-in lunch orders. Nice for Thai if you're not in a big hurry. This is the most authentic and quality level Thai food, I have found in Whatcom County. I eat Thai at least once a week, so I am very picky about how certain dishes are made. If you love Tom Kha, you need to try theirs! They have the lime leaves, the lemongrass stalks, all of the things that should always be there. I've tried the same dishes at other thai restaurants that are 3x the price, nothing has EVER been better than Luxe. Owners know me by my orders now, and our names. They have true family shop atmosphere, a "hole in the wall" gem here in Ferndale. Weekends are the hardest, because they are closed! If I could afford it, I'd likely eat Luxe every day. Get their tom Kha, their appetizers, their thai iced tea. Just order the whole menu! You still won't be disappointed. Very nice presentation. I had the Pad Kee Mao with the two chilies level of spiciness I thought that to be the best choice for this dish and i think that I guessed ecactly right. They have five levels of chilied with five chilies called "native Thai": go there on your own. The noodle were best ever had, right texturr and the right sauce. We asked if they were "in-house" and she told us that they get them in Seattle. We had ice water, probably should have asked for lemon or lime slices but just water was fine. They do serve sodas and Thai tea; no beer, wine, or bar. They advertise that they are open toll 20:00 (8 pm), beware. We'll definitely be going back. Not very good for vegetarians. Food was not very flavorful & my phad se ew didn't come with tofu or soy sauce so it was bland. They also added a ton of cabbage which it isn't supposed to come with, and no rice to mix in. A bit disappointed in the food, but the service wasn't bad. This pad Thai is so bomb. All the food is bomb. They aren't kidding with their stars though.

The pad Thai is very different from other places. As you can see, the noodles are white, so they didn't put any sauce in it, but it has a vinegar taste to it. If you like the traditional pad Thai, this is probably not the one for you. Overall it was alright, but I would not order this dish again. However, the lady there was very nice and I would definitely try other dishes. read more

This little gem of a restaurant is tucked away in Ferndale, but it's worth the trip if you're craving delicious, fresh authentic Thai food. My husband and I visited Thailand last year, and the food here is just as fresh and delicious as it did on the streets of Bangkok. The restaurant is small, and they close earlier than I would like, but it's all forgiveable because it is just SO good. The waitress that took our order stopped by our table a few times, and each time she was incredibly warm and friendly. A word of warning though, the spice level is from 1-5, and normally I can handle a 3, but I barely tolerated a 2 at this restaurant. The spice is well done though. Sometimes restaurants will add undeveloped spice and heat, this is so well incorporated and delightful though. If you need to alleviate the heat - their Thai Iced Tea is a delicious, creamy and not-to-sweet saving grace. We started our meal with the Chicken Satay which was moist, perfectly seasoned and tender. The peanut dipping sauce was like a whipped peanut mousse - it was so good! We also had egg rolls, which were crispy and hot. They were very good too. I ordered the Pad Kee Mao and my husband ordered the Pad See Ew both with pork. We will absolutely order them again, with a level one spice, even though I'm sure the rest of their menu is just as delicious. read more

I've been to Luxe a few times now. Before my last visit I've been a pretty big fan. Good Thai food, at an extremely reasonable price! My last visit was during the lunch hour rush. Seated ourselves right away, and received our water and miso soup shortly after. The food didn't take too long but I was less than impressed with my meal. I ordered the 'garlic lover' at a 5 star spice level. There was next to no garlic flavor, just spice. Also, the vegetables that are included in the dish were not mixed in. They were off to the side sans sauce or flavor. I thought that was odd and to be quite honest it made the plate feel like something I could just throw together at home. The server said she would bring extra 'spice' to our table but never did. I didn't bother to ask since she already seemed to have her hands full. My husbands Pad See Ew was a little cold with some bites. The only plus to this whole experience is their lunch menu is extremely cheap. With both orders our total was $15.
