I appreciated how clean he kept the workspace and for keeping the health and safety of my family a top priority. I highly recommend you consider Soma Tile for your next project! Summary: Soma Tile (Lucas) is a partner through the process and his team is comprised of skilled…read moreand courteous professionals. I would not hesitate in referring them to anyone looking for bath and tile work!! Preface: Let me start this tale with some background. This project was not an exciting "Lets update our 20 year old bathroom and make it stylish and pretty". Instead the project started due to an undetected leak, the stress that comes from random water leaking in random places, and was filled with questions and concerns. Countless others "assured" me that this was a plumbing issue or just due to some neglected maintenance on a 5 year old new-install shower - and then wanted to blast holes everywhere to "find" the leak. At the same time, I did not want to rip apart a shower to then find out it might be plumbing and now a full on repair. I felt overwhelmed in making the wrong choice and doing 2 projects chasing my tail. Lucas walked me through all the typical scenarios that he has seen, leaning on the most probably is a structural fail of the shower system and then did a methodical exploration. A couple hours later and a minimal demo, he confirmed that it was in fact not plumbing related and was def. a failure of the shower system -- and walked me through what it would take. Once his team was onsite, they were focused - creating a whole "clean room" at the entry to the bathroom. 1 day demo, 1 day water-proof, 2 days tile - all while providing the proper time for dry-out and leak testing between steps. Lucas is a perfectionist, being critical on the most minor details -- which to someone that also strives for this level, but has no idea what they are looking for, was very much appreciated. Additionally, he has instilled this value in his team - that are true craftsman with their skill. Each step of the process was walked through, discussed, and made sure we understood the task, goal, and expectations. This is why I say Lucas/Soma Tile was a true partner in this project, as it wasn't a fun project -- it was an overwhelming stressful start where Soma Tile helped take some of the burden and concerns off our shoulders and work it through with their own expertise, experience, and dedication - ensuring every step was executed with precision. Soma Tile knows their craft - Lucas is a partner, his team are craftsman. Huge Thanks to Lucas, Jesus, and Miguel -- not to forget Jose who magically appeared on the last day to leave the place spotless.

The company's name should have been our first red flag--"Trend Carpet & Tile" doesn't even mention hardwood floors, which isn't their specialty. My advice: look elsewhere. We worked with Sarah, the daughter of the owner, who lives in our neighborhood. She was not helpful when I first reached out with concerns. She told me their floors had a one-year warranty and there was nothing they could do. I then asked her to involve the flooring product company to inspect the floors, and invited her to come see the issue in person, as she had only seen photos. She never followed through. I suggested that the product they used might be defective, as the problems had worsened over the last year, but no action was taken. To make matters worse, we began noticing issues just 90 days after installation similar to what we see now. The installer, Andrew, dismissed our concerns and claimed it was normal. However, the problems continued to get worse. Sarah from Trend blamed our household for using a Roomba, having pets, and having children, all of which she claimed caused the issues. I told her that whatever products they used weren't durable enough for a typical household if that is what did the damage. She even went as far as blaming our use of Bona Floor Cleaner, which is non-toxic and widely recommended product with no complaints that I could find showing it damaged floors. Trend Carpet & Tile never specified the duration of their warranty or provided guidance on what floor cleaners to use or avoid. I never expected to need a floor refinishing just two years after installation! The photos clearly show that 30-40% of the floors look like now. They have large greyish/white patches where the finish has failed or warn off prematurely. These issues are not caused by a Roomba or cleaning products, but by a faulty product that Trend Carpet & Tile isn't want to stand behind. The VP of the company, Sara, was rude and only friendly when there was a sale to be made or a check to be collected. She seemed more focused on attracting new customers than resolving issues with existing ones. Despite their website "Customer Satisfaction statement" they did nothing to make things right with us. Buyer beware!!

First we hired Best to fix a cracked water seal pan in the upstairs standup shower...they fixed it to perfection while completely rebuilding the shower, the tiles, and the pipes. This time - we hired Best to do a complete bathroom renovation... I just continue to be blown away by the owner - Steve Best. His communication is what sets him apart from every other contractor. He's basically a customer's dream to partner with on a project. Rebecca at the office emails you for the admin side - keeping aligned with updates and transactions. Steve texts/calls you almost daily with the gameplan, the strategic approach, the agenda and schedule. I'm so thankful because unlike most contractors, Steve keeps everything on schedule - running daily - and makes sure his team gets to the finish line efficiently, quickly, and to satisfaction. Steve's crew works every day...and they put in a full day's work. They don't leave you hanging, they don't ghost you for days upon weeks without explanation and they NEVER leave a mess. They work super clean and always pickup after themselves. They start the job. They work at the job every day. They finish the job. All along the journey you're clued in, you're given timelines and reasoning...and you're a part of a collaboration with Steve to make sure the job gets done right! The process started by sitting…read moredown at Lowe's with one of their kitchen designers and getting a free layout and cabinet estimate. Over the next 10 years I took that Lowe's layout to no less than a dozen cabinet companies to get their pricing. The pricing always came in around $10,000+ (except for one importer who sold cheap, rather than good cabinets in a limited number of styles and colors. None of which we liked.) Then a month ago, driving north on Gary avenue in Carol Stream I just happened to spot this place and thought I'd try again to price out the Lowe's design because we were now ready to do something. I went into the place and immediately started walking around. I didn't wait for a sales person because I wasn't sure if I'd like the place and didn't want some fast-talking salesman to start accosting me for my business. I'd looked for a few minutes before I was approached by Jim, a pleasant older gentleman. He was nice so I told him what I was looking for and we casually discussed a few options. I told him I had the Lowe's kitchen design and he said he'd be happy to price it out with the cabinets I liked (he didn't want to see their pricing). I emailed him the design minus the prices and he came back with some design drawings. We talked some more over email and I asked him to stop by my house to see my kitchen. He did and we had a great conversation and we got ideas for other ways to do the kitchen. After looking at the kitchen, Jim put together everything we liked, added in the monthly manufacturer promotions, and ended up THOUSANDS less than any other quality cabinet place. So today we visited the showroom to go over every part of the cabinet order before putting down a deposit. After all was said and done, even after we added many pullout drawers, did some upgrading and getting some trim pieces (not on the original Lowe's design), he beat my 10 year old barebones Lowe's kitchen design price by over $1,500! I can't recommend Jim and this place strongly enough. (I'll let you know if things don't go smoothly once we receive the cabinets.)

We paid a $5,877.50 deposit for a flooring project that was later postponed while a separate legal matter involving our existing flooring was being resolved. When we eventually requested the return of our deposit, we made repeated attempts to obtain a response, including written requests in June, July, and August 2026. We were ultimately sent a check for only $1,142.50, with $4,735.00 deducted for alleged material purchases, annual replacement of finishes due to shelf life, and an $850 inspection charge. We dispute these deductions because, as of the date of this review, we have not been provided with signed contractual language authorizing them, written approvals showing that we agreed to these purchases or replacement charges, supplier invoices, receipts, proof of payment, or adequate documentation explaining what happened to the materials. We previously trusted this company, maintained a positive relationship with its owner, and referred multiple clients to them. The lack of communication and the manner in which this refund has been handled are unacceptable. The matter has now been referred to legal counsel. I will update this review if Performers provides the requested documentation and resolves the dispute fairly.
