I normally would tell you to ignore 5 star reviews as they are largely hyperbolic and not a true reflection of the business, but let me tell you: If I could give John and the crew at performers 100 stars, I would. We met John through our home builder, and he was our favorite trade to work with. The experience was so good that we use John and Performers any time we can. They have redone the floor of my in-laws house, they are doing the floor and tile work in our basement remodel - basically, if we could use them for something, they were absolutely the first people we called. John and Performers stand by their work, they are super helpful but, most importantly, John is extremely friendly (and employs a staff of just genuinely nice people to work with). I cannot recommend Performers enough. They are just a joy to work with. read more

We had carpet installed in December 2022, but it was the incorrect shade. We decided to keep it since it was a decent blend in our decor. We recently bought new carpet for two bedrooms and thought it would match the previous incorrect carpet that was installed in 2022, but it was not a match. Since Performers could not determine exactly what the incorrect carpet was, we asked them to replace it with the new carpet just installed so it would match. They refused because too much time passed since their incorrect carpet was installed. This is a customer sat and goodwill issue that would cost them very little compared to the thousands of dollars we spent on new carpet (and flooring) with them over the past 15 months. Very disappointed to get the response "There's nothing we can do." instead of correcting their mistake. read more

CLASSIC MAN CAVE. Performers had a ROUGH floor to deal with when they took on our project. 150 year old concrete basement floor that was as cockeyed and uneven as you could get. And they accepted my challenge to take long plain ole vinyl planks and turn then into a mind blowing herringbone pattern. Took an extra day to level the floor but they still finished a day early. My husband is THRILLED with the floor -- it looks fantastic and accomplished everything we were going for. The Performers team was professional, friendly, diligent and took great pride in their work. We are so happy with our entire process working with Performance Flooring from beginning to end. They made refinishing ALL of our flooring as easy as possible for us, and the actual floor turned out perfect. Lexi and John came over, along with a job-site guy to check out the situation and give an estimate. We loved the way they figured out exactly what kind of wood we have, and gave their advice on what we should do balancing cost and the best look of the final product. We thought our floor may have to be ripped out and they assured us that they would turn out beautiful just refinishing them, which was actually the less costly option. We trusted them and we are so happy we did because we love the results. We appreciated the way the lead guy on our project was patient as we chose our stain color, and he mixed many different combinations on our floor for us to choose. My experience started with Jim picking out the perfect tile products, he was very patient, and when I was having trouble finding exactly what I was looking for, he searched on his own through Books, and found the perfect tile. my installer Francisco was excellent. he actually ended up giving me an idea that turned out to be my favorite part of my master bath. This was the first major project for me so, of course, a lot of questions came up. I think the best part of the job experience was the supervisor named Ed. I would certainly ask for him by name he explained everything to me, and when little challenges came up, he would always have a solution, if I ever did tile work again, I would be sure Ed would over see my project. read more

We recently had a home built and our builder referred us to Performer's Flooring for our tile, carpet, and hardwood floors. We met with John directly and he was able to meet us at a time that was convenient for us. The showroom was amazing and had some really unique styles not seen elsewhere. The displays made it easy to envision what the tile would look like when installed. John knew the selections that were included in our builder package and had them ready for us to look at when we arrived. He spent time listening to our ideas for upgrades and was able to help us find what we were looking for within our budget. We were quite pleased to leave there with some nice upgrades and finishing touches that really have given our home the look we were hoping for. John met with us during our preliminary walk thru in sub-zero weather making sure everything we selected would go according to plan. The installation was perfect. Our tile and carpet have no flaws and our hardwood is beautiful and durable. We have now moved on to the backsplash for our kitchen and have never entertained the thought of going elsewhere. John came out to take measurements and even took photos of our kitchen. When we returned to the showroom he had suggestions for the perfect tile and knew exactly what would complement our kitchen. First, I am an extremely picky person (my husband always tell me my expectations are too high). Performers installed 800 square feet of solid white oak flooring and did an exceptional job. We paid to have our stairs and second floor landing changed from carpet to hardwood floors with white risers. They left us with white risers all messed up with stain, and told us we would have to get it fixed ourselves. Be sure you have plenty of paint thinner to get off the unprotected white risers before you have to paint them white. read more

I compared their quotes to others to ensure we were getting the best possible deal. Just about everything was in line with what I was finding. Do not waste your time here. The tile I ordered had some sort of glue on every single piece. It also looked very cheap. Unhappy with my order, I went to return it. If I went to Floor and Decor or the Tile Shop, it would have been no problem. I lost out on $200 because of their 25% restocking fee. Who charges a restocking fee these days? You're always supposed to buy extra tile for your job, but they will punish you for that. Never again read more

Impressed form day 1. Lexie came for our quote and was very respectful of COVID guidelines. She kept her mask on and kept a safe distance. Once going to the showroom to pick our carpet, she helped me stay within our price range. The installers did an amazing job. 3 of them came and worked hard for 4 hours to tear up all the old linoleum floors and install the new carpet. They walked us through each room. Performers was recommended to me by my home owners insurance as a preferred provider for flooring claims. I wish there was a star less than one because they were absolutely awful. To replace my bathroom floor took 10 weeks with one headache after the next. Let's start with Roland. He came to my condo with my adjuster and stated once the claim was submitted it would only take Performers 2 weeks to get the supplies and 1 week to install. By week 4 I reached out to Roland and he did not answer. Absolutely no communication. It was a week later he called and instructed my to call the scheduling department, and poof! He was out of the picture. That's where I dealt with Tina, who doesn't know her ass from a hole in the ground. Materials were not delivered on time and she had to reschedule about 4 times. I encourage anyone looking to have their flooring done to literally consider any other company. Performers has poor communication, lies about time lines, and has the worst quality! A local competitor did a horrendous job refinishing my hardwood floors!! I can't begin to describe how bad they looked. They even got stain all over my walls, woodwork and toilet. I had Performers out to assess the damage to my floors caused by the other company, and they assured me that they could fix the mess and give me the results I hoped for. They were professional, thorough and went above and beyond to make me happy and bring my floors back from the shoddy job done by the other flooring company. The job they did was exceptional!! We had all of our oak floors redone as part of an insurance claim for water damage. The first attempt by another company was a horrible experience. They gave us 4 stain color choice options and then when they applied the stain it turned out very blotchy in certain areas. It was so bad that we were able to get a do over. We selected Performers and couldn't be happier. They spent a lot of time explaining the process and helping us choose just the right color which was a mix of multiple stains. My flooring needs were particularly challenging because of the timing requirements and despite the additionally challenging downtown Chicago location, Performers was able to get the job done and done well. My first phone call set the wheels in motion and I quickly met with the incredibly accommodating sales manager who brought several wood flooring samples for me to choose from. He also stayed within my budget and provided guidance about the different choices. The measurements were taken right away and when the floors were ready for delivery, everything was coordinated with the building in terms of the drop off, hauling away the old floors and installing the new ones. A friend of mine remodeled her bathroom a few years ago. When I wanted to do my kitchen, she encouraged me to go to Performers Flooring. It was quite a distance from my house in Yorkville, but when I got there, the trip was well worth it. There was so much to choose from. I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep the wood or go with tile. After consulting with the salesperson, we decided to go with gray porcelain that looks the real stone. I was afraind it would be too cold in the winter so we also went with the heated floor system. Do not use this company! They are overpriced and the quality of their work is terrible. You are paying for the store front and salesman! The installers did their best but they were just not skilled enough. The salesman demanded full payment before the job was done, even threatened to pull the job, but it's in their contract to pay when the job is done and you are satisfied. Maybe he knew the quality of work to come. They installed prefinished Mohawk hardwood and replaced the stairs with raw oak treads. I found later that Home Depot has the same flooring for almost half the price. But my main issue is with the craftsmanship of the stairs. There are large gaps where the tread and risers meet the stringer. Also, smaller gaps where the tread meets the riser. They didn't make any attempt to level the treads during install which is visibly obvious. They covered the risers with oak veneer to cut corners on replacing them. I agreed without seeing it first and you can tell it's veneer which looks like crap. The prefinished flooring and stained wood on the stairs don't match. However the salesman never told me they couldn't match a factory finish during our conversation. The job supervisor told me AFTER the flooring was laid and stairs were torn apart. I would not have selected prefinished if I had been informed. My neighbor had his stairs done for $1000 less and they are flawless. His price also included new stringers and spindles as well as sanding and staining the balusters and railings. This company would not do any of that and we had to pull the spindles out ourselves before the install then replace them after. It's probably a good thing they didn't touch that part anyway. There is more but I'm already writing a novel. I hope this review can save at least one person from being left with garbage like this. read more

Taking over 2 months to finish a simple mb shower redo. Was promised to be 1-2 weeks for tiling and another 2 weeks for custom glass surround/door. Tiling took 4 weeks but was done very well. Just found out yesterday the glass surround/door will be another 2-3 weeks. Very poor service and follow up especially since we have already made a 20% down payment + 3 monthly payments. I recently visited this store after my carpeted basement was flooded. The experience left me feeling rather fragile and desperate. I had not been to the store before and was not expecting anything good from what looked like a high end flooring store. I was asked if I needed help by Jim on the floor and was amazed that there was still customer service in this world. I was looking for bound carpet of a certain size and installed carpet runner. In spite of the small size of the job he gave me his attention and expertise in design, picking out color and giving me an exact quote and education on carpet. I am particular and left the store without buying to think this over. When I returned to purchase he was great. Told me the time line and exact price, then came to my home to measure to make sure I'd measured right and the color samples with him to ensure I liked the color. Can't tell you how appreciative I was. The installers were on time, clean, respectful of my belongings and very professional. I can't tell you how grateful I am to Jim and the store for their help and professionalism. read more
