I hired Trend Carpet & Tile in August 2022 to refinish approximately 3,000 square feet of Brazilian Cherry ¾" hardwood floors in our Naperville home. The company's name should have been our first red flag--"Trend Carpet & Tile" doesn't even mention hardwood floors, which isn't their specialty. My advice: look elsewhere. We worked with Sarah, the daughter of the owner, who lives in our neighborhood. She was not helpful when I first reached out with concerns. She told me their floors had a one-year warranty and there was nothing they could do. I then asked her to involve the flooring product company to inspect the floors, and invited her to come see the issue in person, as she had only seen photos. She never followed through. I suggested that the product they used might be defective, as the problems had worsened over the last year, but no action was taken. To make matters worse, we began noticing issues just 90 days after installation similar to what we see now. The installer, Andrew, dismissed our concerns and claimed it was normal. However, the problems continued to get worse. Sarah from Trend blamed our household for using a Roomba, having pets, and having children, all of which she claimed caused the issues. I told her that whatever products they used weren't durable enough for a typical household if that is what did the damage. She even went as far as blaming our use of Bona Floor Cleaner, which is non-toxic and widely recommended product with no complaints that I could find showing it damaged floors. Trend Carpet & Tile never specified the duration of their warranty or provided guidance on what floor cleaners to use or avoid. I never expected to need a floor refinishing just two years after installation! The photos clearly show that 30-40% of the floors look like now. They have large greyish/white patches where the finish has failed or warn off prematurely. These issues are not caused by a Roomba or cleaning products, but by a faulty product that Trend Carpet & Tile isn't want to stand behind. The VP of the company, Sara, was rude and only friendly when there was a sale to be made or a check to be collected. She seemed more focused on attracting new customers than resolving issues with existing ones. Despite their website "Customer Satisfaction statement" they did nothing to make things right with us. We only required a small amount of carpet for my home office and were given two remnant options that met our specs. The install was quick and precise, the Installers did a great job. My only issue is that the delivery window was broad with no updates. I needed to leave the house for an errand and had to call to see if they could give an updated ETA. The worst experience ever... They stolen 200€ selling nothing .. I'm almost a month alredy every single morning loosing my time,talking with them to found any solution to the problem that they are giving, they said that the problem was GLS, when finally I get the tracker number of the pick up and I talk with GLS, they said to me that the item was delivered a week ago, and now I haven't any answer anymore from Trendcarpet.... We are in the real estate business and we come across many different tradesmen. From the good to the bad, to anywhere in between...we've seen it all. But we've never come across a vendor like Trend, or more specifically, Doug (An Associate), who goes out of his way to meet the datelines and to ensure that we are happy with our purchase. We have purchased carpeting for two of our houses, and will continue to utilize Doug from Trend to assist with our carpet and flooring needs in years to come. Due to the often tight schedule and the nature of the RE business, Doug never fails to meet our datelines and the workers that he assigned to the job have always worked diligently and flawlessly. As an update to my previous review. This floor installation continues to be a source of disappointment. We have a crawl space, which is accessed through an access opening in the closet. Rather than simply covering the access panel, with the hardwood flooring, and then piece in hardwood around the opening, as he was asked to do, the installer took some creative liberty and covered the access panel with pieces of hardwood flooring the full width of the closet. In addition to making the access panel a real challenge to lift up we found tonight that, due to the excess humidity due to the constant rain, the wood has swelled making it so that I cannot get the access panel out to be able to get into the crawl space to check the sump pump. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Trend. They made a tedious, painful project fun and bearable! We hired Trend for a complete office remodel - 3,000 square feet of new carpeting in a very outdated, dirty and OLD office building. Our current carpet had been glued down, and was there for 22 years. Did I mention we bring our dogs to work? YUCK. I had 6 quotes - and Trend was BY FAR the most aggressive quote. So much so, I was a little nervous. You know the adage - "you get what you pay for?" Wrong, wrong, WRONG. We got so much more. From the beginning, Sarah and her team made sure to work with our crazy and chaotic schedule to come measure, bring countless samples, work around our painting schedule, etc. Once the work started, her team wasted no time getting to work. They finished a 3k square foot office in 4 days....working around painters, movers, donation pick ups of old furniture, appliance deliveries for a kitchen remodel, and more - particularly helping us dismantle and reassemble archaic, electrified office furniture. Not to mention, when the job was finished, Sarah send US a thank you card. I think it was deserved the other way around. I can't wait until I know of other people needing new flooring. I would love to repay Trend with a referral for all the hard work. Thank you, Trend - you gave my 18 employees new vigor. read more

I needed carpet for 1,000 sqft of space and was skeptical when Doug at Trend quoted me $2k less than two other well-reviewed vendors here on Yelp. I went ahead anyway and can say I'm fully satisfied with my purchase. The staff at Trend were a big help during the ordering and the installation team stayed at my house until 7pm to get everything finished. One month after install I've had no issues and am happy to recommend them to anyone else in the area looking for flooring as well as return when I need to replace my basement carpet. read more

I am a relatively new condo owner and needed help fixing up certain areas of my condo, including the wood floors and carpeting situation. After becoming extremely frustrated with the process (trying to find reliable/honest floor people in Chicago is about as much fun as receiving 1,000 paper cuts....), I was referred to Sarah at Trend Carpets. Sarah was awesome. She promptly returned my emails/calls, and she really moved this process along. She is super organized and really made the entire process flow seamlessly. The installation folks were pleasant as well. If you're going to do business here make sure everything is explained well We have had issues for 2 yrs now. they had to come look at our carpet several times due to the snags pulling up and then finally when they said if you can't deal with it anymore, since the manufacture will replace it you have tenure warranty watch that warrantee because it doesn't mean anything and even the sales person Doug said after we've had our issues it doesn't mean anything and watch that dog the way he yelled at me for $150 because the manufacture wouldn't cover the installation and the guy who install it say our customers NEVER pay if we have to come out and replace the way he yelled at me he was as if I was his kid that got in trouble I hope he doesn't yell at other wives customers the way he treated me and it was all due to a medical reason I couldn't return his car he threaten to come out to my house after me right there I could've gotten him for offense just because I did not return his calls due to my medical issues that I couldn't get to my phone and the quality of their products you better watch out too because they first put it down they gave the installers the OK to go ahead when they knew it was damaged and then we just got it replaced after two years and we are still having the issues but we are done will never go back to this company again if everybody else thinks it's great that's fine but the way we have been treated and felt scammed and threatened to come to my home was wrong read more

I highly recommend this business. From start to finish, the whole process of ordering carpet and having it installed was made so easy. They are very professional. Carpeting came in on time and installation was scheduled the next week. Furniture was moved and put back in all the right places. They cleaned up after themselves, and I was given the opportunity to vacuum before the furniture was replaced. All the old carpet was put to the curb and hauled away the next day. Ordered a 2000 sq ft Shaw Berber Carpet. Their main installer had a broken arm. I have many very obvious seams. When I called Doug after a few weeks he never called back. When I finally called again, they sent out the installer who said it was the carpet. Shaw said it was not the carpet. Doug and the owner never called back. I had shopped around for quotes and when I walked into Trend and spoke with Jenn Gigele she gave me a price no other competitor could even sniff. It included premium padding and very nice carpet. No problems scheduling for a Saturday and the guys (Gene and Tony) came out and did a fantastic job. I would highly recommend Trend to anyone looking for quality carpet and service at a great price. Had whole house carpet installed one year ago. Installing hardwood now in kitchen and hallways and discovered that the old original padding was not removed after I specifically instructed them to do so because of pet smell from previous owner. Additionally the installed new carpet tack strips OVER the old crumblings strips. They did come out and look and I was told that that was not out of the norm. Totally unacceptable to me. read more

I was working on a rebuild of my townhome following a flood. and needed new carpet for the living room and stairs. Certainly not a big job where a carpet salesman was going to make a ton of money off of me. However, working with Doug at Trend was a pleasure. He was so personable, pleasant, kind, accessible, and not pushy in the least. I needed the lowest VOC carpeting there was because I have severe respiratory issues and multiple chemical sensitivity ,and Doug made tons of calls and did lots of research to ensure I was choosing the lowest VOC carpet and padding even though it was a relatively small sale for him He did not complain a bit, just worked hard on my behalf and was always pleasant and with a smile on his face. In the midst of dealing with several contractors, plumbers, etc, etc, and never quite sure who to trust, I had a strong sense from the beginning that Doug was a kind and trustworthy person committed to doing good solid work and being most helpful to the customer, and I was right! I chose a Mohawk Smart Strand carpet with Glacier pad and it is now installed. It looks just beautiful and it is so comfortable to walk on ! I do not see any seams either! Its shocking to see how people on here had a bad experience with Trend! My husband and I used them for 2 home remodels. We worked closely with Sarah, who went over and beyond to make sure we were happy with everything. She respected our tight budget and worked with us to achieve the same look I've always dreamed of. One day we were running late to go to Trend Carpet & Tile and Sarah stayed 2 hours after closing hours just to make sure we made the right decisions and that were left happy. Not to mention it was a Friday night. Sarah continually checked on us to see how the house was coming along and always asked if she could be of any assistance. They're customer service is excellent and they treat you like family. Sarah wouldn't let me leave the store unless I was 100% happy with everything. And she told me if I end up changing my mind, its not a big deal to let her know. Just as long as my husband I were happy! Great store, great service, and great staff!
