I haven't been to a real hair salon in probably 10-15 years. Went to Great clips about 5 years ago for my last hair cut but I wanted to splurge and get a little pampering! Most things are charged by the hour and each stylist has a different rate based on their "level" I came with a pic of what I wanted and Jade delivered. Almost identical. And if my face was as thin and flawless as the AI version I brought in it would have been exactly the same lol. She also has these wonderfully long nails that feel amazing when she's washing your hair! She was conversational without being nosy or over talkative. I got my hair cut a few months back and the experience was generally good, it was on a night where most of the workers seemed to be going out with each other and I was the last one booked for the night so my stylist didn't get to go (I know this because she asked me 15mins before my appointment if I could reschedule). Anyways, I asked for about 4in off, layers and a full dye. When we were finished the manager came to check her work bc I assume maybe she's newer (which is fine), but the lady had to redo all of my layers because they weren't done correctly. So we stayed much later probably until 9:30pm. Then when I got home I noticed that one side was way shorter than the other! I had to personally cut almost 2in off my left side of hair just to get it even. Now I know maybe she wanted to go out and felt rushed but it was not professional and I hope that if I go there again I get a better experience and that Amber pays more attention to detail to her future clients. I felt sad since this place has high reviews and i felt I didn't get what I paid for.

Kenneth messaged me quickly and was very up front about what he could offer and for what price. Rooted is in the Folsom hills and right in the downtown area along Lake Natoma and the American River. Every time I venture out Folsom way there is something new to see, but this little area still has the same "feel" as when I was a kid - Cute, Quaint, Small-Town. Since they have only been in this location a few months they don't have signage up yet but you can't miss it, it's a darling little cottage with a red stone brick path leading to inviting walk up and entry. I felt comfortable right away. Kenneth was up front ringing out another client but made sure to greet me as soon as I entered, which says a lot in my book. He showed me to his room, which was super cozy; the salon chair was comfy; LOVED the wash station, Kenneth was awesome; very personable, we chatted it up while he washed, did a deep conditioning treatment, (can I get that hair drier to go pls?) lol, Brazilian blow out and some touch up with the flat iron so I could get home to flat iron the rest (I do that myself). Even without the flat iron it looked fantastic! My hair felt super clean and well hydrated, not dried out at ALL. When I got home to finish the flat iron it was nice n soft n felt fabulous. Loved it! My only downside was that I was on time to my appointment and she was running behind. Was not a problem for me though, I had just gotten off work and appreciated the down-time. They felt bad and had another stylist wash my hair before their next appointment came in so that Emily had time to finish up her client.
