I hit the jackpot with Michaela at this Maribou location. After going to literally 5 other stylists, I had given up on anyone creating the bangs I wanted...that is until I met Michaela. I showed her a photo of what I wanted and poof! Just like that she made it happen (and has been making it happen over and over every time I come in for a trim and other services). I had a great experience at this salon! It was my first time coming there because I needed a kind of "emergency haircut" for an engagement photoshoot I was doing that day. The receptionist was super accommodating and booked me with Shivani. Once I got there, I explained that I hadn't had my hair cut in years but needed a serious trim because it was looking straggly. She did an excellent job of overviewing my hair and deciding what needed to be taken off. We had a great time chatting during the cut and she made sure that everything she was doing was what I wanted. She then beautifully curled it, and I was set to go! The timing was perfect (9-11am) and it definitely made my photoshoot. I highly recommend Shivani, she is knowledgeable and takes your needs into account. Also just a fun gal :) read more

My experience with Jessica (IG: beyondhair_byjess) was AMAZING! I booked an appointment for a haircut with the first available stylist. I was nervous because typically I research stylists beforehand. However, as a newly postpartum mama, I had neglected my hair for quite some time and was desperate for a haircut. I brought along my newborn and a friend to help watch him during the appointment. When I first arrived, Jessica was so warm and welcoming. She truly listened to what I was wanting and took her time to make sure that was accomplished. She took pauses to make sure my son and I were okay and even let me hold him towards the end while she styled my hair. I went into that appointment so nervous, but I couldn't have picked a better hair stylist to not only take 12 inches of hair off, but make me feel comforted, beautiful, and confident. Highly recommend Jen!! (IG: beauty_by_jenflandez) She truly saved my hair. I went to Jen for a color correction. I had a botched color job from another salon and did not know what to do or where to start. I booked Jen and she reached out right away asking for photos of the botched color job and requesting photos of what I really wanted it to look like. When I walked into my appointment a few days later she was prepped and ready and showed me (with color samples) how she was going to fix my hair. She was wonderful and a true hair angel! I've been here once before (years ago, a Folsom location) and decided to go in for a highlight job this week. I scheduled + got quoted for a full highlight of ~$250 but, when I came in, the stylist said it was only a partial highlight. She offered to do a conditioning treatment and I said that as long as it's cheaper than a full highlight, that'd be fine. She assured me it would be. It wasn't cheaper-- probably around the same price. TL;DR: - Fast booking - Nice employees - Decent cut - Terrible highlight job - Conditioning treatments were trash I was scheduled in fast + the girls at the salon were nice. My stylist (who I won't name) was newer and very sweet + attentive. The cut wasn't quite what I wanted, but she did a good job (I'm assuming it's because my hair texture is a little different from the photo.) Unfortunately, I thought the highlights were a little stripey and she missed a section on my left side that was fully highlighted on the right. I've provided pictures with the reference photo. I wasn't super happy with the highlight technique, though the Folsom location assured me over email that (direct quote): "it looks as if your highlight pattern is correct for the way you are pulling your hair back." I don't agree, but I've provided photos for people to decide on their own. The thing is, I told them in my email + to the stylist herself that I typically wear my hair back for work, so that the pattern appears noticeably uneven when it's pulled back is in fact a problem. While they said I could have her pop a few in to balance, I'd rather not apply more bleach to my scalp, or drive out to Roseville, or sit in a salon chair for several more hours. I already had to take time off to get it done in the first place. At $300 (including the tip here), you'd think it'd be done right the first time. Anyway, as for the "conditioning treatment," I wouldn't recommend it. The website said it's applied for about 5 minutes and that tracks. But there was still some bleach on my scalp from the highlight job (lol) and my hair texture was still a little off (probably because the product wasn't fully washed out). I ended up doing a clarifying shampoo + deep condition when I got home anyway, which did the trick. Cant recommend the deep condition based on my own experience. I think everyone would be better off picking up their own products and doing one at home tbh. Too pricey. Like I said, the stylist was very kind and nice. I liked her a lot and she provided great customer service and, even though the cut wasn't exactly what I wanted, it's still very cute. The service from management is ultimately why I went with 2 stars tbh. I'd have liked to have a refund for the highlight job, but they assured me that this is standard. I think that's kind of funny because it really does look goofy. Anyway, not for me, but I'll cut my losses and know better for the future. ‍ read more

Kirsten is amazing! I chose her based off of what I could find on Yelp, so no personal referral. I was a bit nervous. I had just come from a stylist that insisted what I wanted to do with my hair was not possible, even over multiple treatments and kept doing the opposite of what I wanted. My aim was to go from dark brown to a cool/silvery blonde. What I ended up with was golden brown. So not only did Kirsten have the tall order of giving me a dramatic change, she also had to contend with fixing someone else's work and not damaging my hair at the same time. I would have completely understood if she was limited in what she could accomplish in the first go around, but it is already incredible! I probably need just one more session to undo some of the brassiness from the previous stylist, but I couldn't be happier, and it turns out I can achieve exactly what I wanted. I decided to go to this salon because I hadn't had a haircut in quite a long time and they had same-day appointments available. I wanted to chop off most of my length, and my stylist Carly also recommended a treatment for frizz. Carly was great! She listened well. She was very personable and knowledgeable, and also very gentle and caring in her work. I've never had a haircut feel so much like a spa treatment! Jessica did an amazing job on a major transformation for my hair (cutting off about 10 inches from long to bob and brown to blonde). She took time to make sure it was exactly what I wanted and regularly paused to make sure we were aligned on what we were going for. She also told me about style and upkeep. I have a lot of hair, which I've found is difficult for some stylists to layer. My appointment was with Christine. I asked for ombré with dark roots and honey/Carmel ends (picture ref attached). She placed the color on my roots and started to section off for highlights. After I was processing the roots and highlights she brought out two swatches of maybe 6 colors that I could pick from...none seemed light enough but we were already IN it. I picked the lightest red. She washed me out and the applied toner...left it on for over 15 minutes and saturated the blonde which made it basically the same color as my roots. Her exact response was 'that doesn't look like the picture you showed me'. She said she could see that I was unhappy. She said that she could use a color remover and try to lift it to show the highlights a little more. During all this I had to tell myself 'don't cry'. She proceeded to wash me out after that processed and sat me back down at her station. At this point I could already tell that it had not lifted. She proceeded to start drying me. At this point I asked her to stop because I explained I was unhappy. She said she was sorry and met me over at the counter to "pay". She told me that she only charged me for the root touch up which was $143. Mind blown. !DONT GET YOUR HAIR DONE BY CHRISTINE!! read more
