Cameo is... an absolute piece of work. Not sure how this person is still in business. My long-time extensions stylist quit the hair business, so I found Cameo through a Google search. Booked on her website for a simple re-installing of my tape extensions for $75.00 (one of the most basic extension types, I had tapes for 2 years and was at the point where I could almost re-install them on my own head). At this point she was doing house calls only, so she was scheduled to come to my house at 7:00am on a Tuesday. She asked me to pick up the tape refills at Sally's the day before my appointment because she didn't have time. She sent an invoice the day before my appointment for $125 ($50 more than my original booking was priced at, she had some reasoning for this but I can't remember what it was now). Cameo showed up at my house at 7:15am, took TWO HOURS to remove and re-install my tape extensions. During those two hours (this typically takes between 30-45 mins with a skilled stylist) she ripped a bunch of the tapes from my hair because she brought oil based remover instead of alcohol based, which doesn't work the same way on certain extensions. By doing this she ruined the tape portion of about half of my extension pieces. She then asked me to wash my own hair in my shower while she cleaned the old tape off of the extensions, then she re-installed them incorrectly, lopsided, and unevenly. They started falling out later that day. I was late to work already because it took her so long, so just let it all slide and thought I would give my hairstylist in retirement a call later that day to see if she could fix the mess on my head. Went to work looking and feeling a HOT MESS, and not 7 hours later Cameo texted me asking me to pay the invoice. She charged me an extra $75 for her "extra time" spent on my hair, which meant she was expecting me to pay $200 for an absolutely botched extension re-install. I'll attach screenshots of my hair and our text conversation from there. She continued to harass me via text/call for days after this, threatening me and making me feel incredibly unsafe in my own home. There are SO many hair stylists in the Bay, please avoid this one at all costs. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE!! She did such a wonderful job on my hair and was one of the best stylist I have ever been too. She was down to earth and willing to talk about life without being awkward. She was also able to complete highlights with a haircut in half the time of any other stylist I've been too! Cameo has been doing my hair since I moved to San Francisco (from NYC) 2 years ago. She is AMAZING. She makes my hair look absolutely perfect, she works really quick (even though I have crazy long hair that takes other stylists 3x the amount of time), and the best part is that my hair stays perfectly curled for almost a week after she does it!! This is a huge feat, because most times I walk into a salon or use an app to get my hair curled, the curls fall flat within an hour and I'm left with product-covered flat hair! Cameo is always punctual, which is a major help because I have a toddler at home and a limited window of time to dedicate to getting my hair done. I think the fact that she styles my hair every week should speak volume to how amazing she is!!! read more

She canceled my appointment less than an hour before, and I had to contact her to even find out it was cancelled. There were 2 different addresses on both Groupon and the calendar invite she sent me. I messaged her on yelp about 2 hours before my appointment (we had already been communicating through yelp since November) to ask what the address was and she dodged my question and said she wasn't at the salon yet and said to contact her at a phone number (which was the wrong number- I found this out when I called and a confused woman answered). A few minutes later she sent the correct number. She then informed me after I texted her that she "wasn't in that day" and didn't know what my number was to call me to reschedule. She had both my email (I had an email appointment confirmation) and we had been in touch on yelp messages and she chose not to reach out through those mediums, and instead waited for me to reach out to her to inform me she wouldn't be at the appointment less than an hour in advance. I don't live in Oakland and was already on my way. I booked the appointment back in November. I'm shocked by her unprofessionalism and I'm not sure why she would think I'd want to reschedule after she cancelled so last minute and I only knew it was cancelled because I reached out to get the address. I read a review on Groupon that it's a scam and I'm starting to think that's true. She continued to send me text messages after I told her I wouldn't be rescheduling and she said to please post on yelp why I had to reschedule so I have posted screenshots of all of our conversations. I reached out to Groupon and they refunded me because of what happened. I had to tell her to stop contacting me and block her number because she kept texting me after I wrote about what happened. After blocking the number she had been contacting me through, I then got a call from 415-808-9358 which through a quick google search I see is attributed to another yelp business under her name. She then messaged me on yelp after I already told her to stop contacting me and blocked her number. read more

Cameo is a super talented stylist, a true gem amongst many stylists. First off, she is the Diva of blowouts! She does a perfect blowout each time that lasts. It's always light, bouncy, lays nice and fully dry and lasts for many days. She also uses excellent products like Kerestase, Pravana and Redken. Second, Cameo is an amazing colorist! This is something she gained from years of working at various "colorbars" working with experts. She truly has great color selection and brushing techniques that are not only amazing but fast. She never misses my grays! Super great color brands like Wella, PulpRiot, Redken, Alfaparf Milano (Italian hair color). Best of all she is fast! She doesn't mess around. She is basically a fantastic color bar and an amazing blow dry bar all in one! Which is why I truly recommend Cameo! I don't have time to have someone good at color and not styling and makeup. I recommend her new salon in the El Cerrito Plaza. It's easy as heck parking and right behind CVS. Super convenient free ample parking. read more

First time to went to see Cameo. I brought a photo of what I wanted my hair to look like. It wasn't what I got. The color is off. She didn't even give me colors of highlights to choose from. She used poor products on my hair, She is terrible. My highlights were too blonde and reddish at the roots. Underneath my hair is dark brown, it is so severe a contrast. I will never go to her again. I can't wait to get the color change. read more
