I found Luz spa through Groupon. I booked the Lua Head Spa - 75 minutes of Renewal & Lightness. This scalp treatment completely transformed my hair and scalp health. Because my hair is heavily bleached, I rely on dry shampoo and use a lot of product, which led to buildup we didn't initially realize was causing my hair thinning--even after changing shampoos, adjusting medications, and taking supplements. When I was shown my scalp at the start of the consult, the buildup was severe--my hair was actually splitting at the root. After the treatment, my scalp felt clean and refreshed, and my hair started growing back. The hair designers are so nice and kind and they always make sure everything is correct or if I wanna change anything. They talk me through the steps and they're also super funny! Very nice salon with superior services. I was very late to my appointment due to my schedule delayed. I called them 10mins before my appointment. Told them I will be 15-20mins late. The lady on the phone was very nice. I was very bad that I was 30mins late. I was thinking. They might want to reschedule my appt, but Vivian greeted me with her beautiful simile. Telling me it is ok. I know I am her last client of the day. I made her stayed later on a Saturday evening. Alan (the assistant) is very nice and professional, he did a very nice and comfortable hair wash with nice head massage for me. They did an original fee $1xx treatment and hair styling for me in about 30-40mins. They have a great special price which is $50 only. Very nice and great price. I was very disappointed and wouldn't recommend this salon. I had a Keratin treatment for my curly hair. After a few weeks, my hair started showing its natural curves again. When I called the store, they explained that this is normal after a hair straightening treatment. However, they charged me an additional $120 for a second hair straightening session without informing me when I scheduled the appointment. The lady I spoke to even placed blame on me when I called to cancel the appointment. The salon should have informed me about the extra charges before I scheduled the second appointment, instead of surprising me after they had already started working on my hair. This made me feel uncomfortable and embarrassed, and it seems like a scam. This experience was not what I was expecting. I initially spent $440 USD and was not satisfied with the results. Being forced to pay another $120 for a second visit only added to my disappointment. The way they conduct their business is unethical and has left me feeling disgusted. I used to be a loyal customer and even recommended them to friends, but now they have completely lost my trust. I will never return there again. read more

I have a lot of hair and usually hair washing is very painful for me but the lady who washed it didn't tug at all. It was very comfortable and enjoyable. I had my haircut done by Eva. I asked to remove the weight from my hair and showed her a picture; she said she would make it prettier than the picture. Eva was very detailed when cutting my hair, but she cut my hair with a middle part even though I have a side part. Afterwards another lady straightened my hair (I'm not sure if they used heat protectant). I was medium-satisfied because my hair looked good after the styling, just not like the picture I showed. A few days later after washing my hair, I realized that without styling, the hair cut is choppy and strange. It looks like there are 2 separate layers of hair. The layers don't blend well and my hair feels just as heavy as before. Overall, staff is very kind and nice, and the salon feels clean. I enjoyed the environment, just not the hair cut. read more

*COVID Review* I got a perm here around a month or two ago from watching one of Phil's from Wong Fu's videos, and I'm very happy I came here. I got a two block cut and the perm allowed me to have some texture in my hair. It was super easy to get an appointment from using Yelp's messages, and Eva responded to my messages fast and professionally. After two months went by, I came back to get a haircut and my stylist gave my exactly what I wanted. A little trim on my hair while preserving the perm that I got previously. She also recommended ways for me to take care of my hair and get volume in my hair as my hair is very soft and straight at its roots so it was hard to keep it up. Amazing people working here at this salon. The first time I came here was earlier this year in February. I got my hair colored for the second time since Summer 2019. The stylist who did my hair coloring was Yumi and she did an amazing job. Because I am new to hair coloring, I was still exploring the different ways I would like to get my hair colored. At first, I really wanted to do like a balayge or ombre coloring style, but Yumi recommended highlights. I listened to her suggestions and it was the best decision that I made. I recently came back to this salon to get a haircut because it is so hot right now and I have a lot of split ends. I had Eva to do my hair and she was very professional about it. She did exactly what I asked for. She gave me tips on how I should style my hair at home, especially with the side bangs that I asked for. She also told me to use hair oil and serum to hydrate my hair especially of this California's weather. Overall, my experience here has been really amazing. The cost is pretty high up there but I think is worth it. For my highlights, it was almost $300 (I think) and was a 2-3 hours long process. For my haircut, it was $60 (I think I chopped off somewhere between 2-4 inches). Of course, this does not include tips. I went here a month ago. My brother needed a hair cut and I did not make an appointment beforehand. I walked in and Eva ( the business owner) was happy to help me out. She scheduled us for next available appointment, was welcoming, and very helpful in choosing a hair style for my brother. My brother was so happy with his haircut so I did not mind the price. He looked like a male k drama lead. They charged 50 dollars for his haircut. The service was very good and the haircut looked clean and stylish! They also shampooed his hair before cutting it, then again afterwards. I am going here again to get a haircut for my boyfriend this week. TLDR: Last year I spent ~$90 for Eva to give me the ugliest, choppiest, most uneven hair of my life. I am a Luz regular who gets a haircut every six months. My stylist wasn't available for my emergency last minute haircut so I was assigned Eva. I wish I never walked in that day. Haircut with Eva lasted less than 10 minutes. Maybe even less than 5 minutes. While cutting my hair, she was gossiping with her friends nonstop, breathing and spitting into my face and hair. She even said some pretty nasty things about me in Chinese probably thinking I didn't know the language. She told me she was done cutting. I looked at the mirror and I was confused because it felt and looked the same as when I first walked in. I asked her to please take more length off. She proceeds to roll her eyes before sloppily cutting at my hair. She dropped her scissors, sighed loudly, pretended to put them away but continued to use the dirty scissors on my hair. She told me she was done again then IMMEDIATELY started drying my hair. Not giving me an opportunity to say anything. I went to pay and it was $10 more than usual because Eva is a "master stylist" lmao but I still paid and tipped accordingly. After I went home showered and blow dried I couldn't believe my eyes. It looked like every single strand of my hair flared outward and the overall shape looked like a badly cut mullet. Only after using A LOT of heat was I able to look normal again. Unfortunately I wasn't able to hide how choppy and uneven my hair was. For two weeks, I was left with the ugliest hair of my life. I couldn't stand it anymore and ended up going to another salon paying for my second cut of the month to get it fixed. So if you go to Luz, never ask for Eva. She's inexperienced and probably learned how to cut hair watching YouTube tutorials. read more

I was able to get an appointment two days ahead with Eva. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They provided some much needed ice tea while i was getting my hair permed and processed. I've been puzzled on where to go when I'm far from Ktown, and spending time in SGV. After some research, I wanted to find my go-to place for hair services in the neighborhood. I got so lucky finding Luz Hair Salon! Yumi and Sylvie made my day. They helped me condition my bleached hair, which looked good, but was very dry. They applied a mucota treatment and took their time to make sure I was comfortable with each step, from walking into the reception to checking the water temperature. Yumi had solid suggestions on hair masks, color saving conditioners to heat protection products. Sylvie was super friendly too, which made this rainy day feel like a brighter summer day. I've been going to Luz Salon for over two years now and my experience has been really really good. I've had mens haircut and coloring. The stylists are very talented and friendly. They take their time to listen to exactly what you need. The service is excellent. I highly recommend going with Eva for haircuts. She's not available every day of the week so call ahead to make your appointment. Their prices are reasonable. You're not going to find super cheap prices here but you will get what you pay for. I would rather pay extra for exactly what I want than pay less and end up with a bad haircut. There are plenty of free parking on site and many other businesses in the same plaza. First time here. Typically, hair salons charge me upwards of $50 for a haircut because I have thick and long hair, so I figured why not go and try one that's charging $60 flat? I came early on a Saturday morning and was immediately greeted. They offered to put my bag in the cabinet, gave me a bracelet with the number and asked me to put on a satin robe. Top notch service already! Next was the shampooing. The lady who washed my hair was awesome! She massaged my hair and gave me some kind of treatment with steam. The only other time I got this was in Japan and it was $30 for the treatment alone. I realized later that this may not be the standard. I probably got it because my stylist was running late. When I made the appointment, I asked for Eva because so many reviews said she was good. I was not disappointed. I showed her a photo of what I wanted and she explained to me why it would take some time for me to get there since my hair was damaged from the hair straightener I use so often. In another salon, they usually say the same thing and tell me to come back for another $50 cut. But Eva told me to just come back and she'll trim my bangs for $10. No hair cut needed if I want to grow it out. What a relief! All in all, BEST salon I've been to in SGV. Service was great and Eva knows what to do.
