i called this salon around 12 pm, booking a same day appointment for 1:30 pm, and upon my arrival, only waited around 5 minutes before getting seated in one of their chairs. prior to my haircut, my hair was waist length, and afterwards, is now chest length. i asked Dina, who cut my hair, to cut off roughly 3 inches, requesting her to focus on removing dead hair/split ends. i specifically informed her that i enjoy keeping my hair long. in spite of this, a whopping minimum 6 inches was cut off. if you're someone like me who enjoys keeping their hair long, i would highly recommend getting your hair cut somewhere else. the pricing for a women's haircut is $35 before tip, which is more affordable than other salons, but this price point may come with certain sacrifices, such as not having your specific hairstyle requests fulfilled. read more

Kathy is my go-to stylist, but whenever I ask her to trim ONLY an inch or two off, she goes for a whopping four inches. I would not recommend her if you do not want a significant amount cut off, but I do not mind since a women's haircut is only $25. I cannot complain about that price in this economy, especially when many other stylists are charging upwards of $50. She is also usually always double-booked, so she often has to stop cutting my hair halfway through to assist another client. This place was recommended to me by a friend a couple years ago and I never been anywhere after. Linda has been my hairstyle since our first meeting. I would always come in with sometime crazier style since I like to explore and see what is actually good for me. When she truly believe that a style doesn't work for my face shape, she will let me know and explained in detail why. Then with her professional knowledge, she would suggest what I should get and then plans it out before proceeding. They do accept walk in but the place tends to be busy so it better to book an appointment. Your typical small yet cozy hair salon with friendly service. I had my second appt with the owner Kathy yesterday for a root touch up. The root touch up went fine. My issue is with her pricing. My first appointment cost $80 for cut and root touch up. For this appointment I texted that I only wanted a touch up no hair cut since it's only been 2 months since my last cut and I wanted my hair to grow out. When it was time to pay she charged me $75 to which I replied wow, it's $75 for touch up only because I paid $80 last time for color and cut. Her reply afterwards is what really bothered me. She said that she usually doesn't charge for the hair cut if the person does a color. What?! So it does not matter if I get a cut or not with a color, price is the same?! I have been to enough hair salons in my life and have never heard this reasoning. Seeing my reaction she reduced the price to $70 instead of $75. To me, it was the principle that matter. I felt like she was trying to squeeze as much out of me as possible with the B.S. reasoning after I questioned her. She obviously does not care about keeping her customers, especially a new one like me. Sad part is she was recommended by a friend of mine but I will not go back to a business where the owner is dishonest like this. I had a very upsetting experience with Jack at this salon. I came in with the longest hair I've ever had and was very clear about what I wanted: long layers, curtain bangs, and a trim. I explicitly stated that I did not want to lose length. Despite this, Jack cut off far more hair than requested. When I expressed concern, he insisted that he had not cut a significant amount and became argumentative, rather than acknowledging my distress or taking responsibility. Yes, the fee was waived--but this was never about the money. I was genuinely distraught. My hair took years to grow, and I trusted a professional to respect clear instructions and boundaries. What made this experience worse was the follow-up. When I later contacted Jack to see if anything could be done to help address the situation, he said he did not want to cut my hair anymore, stated that he had already waived the fee, and then hung up on me, refusing to continue the conversation. Adding to this, after I left the salon, another client approached me in the parking lot, apologized for my experience, and told me that next time I should ask for someone named Jolene instead. That interaction alone made it clear this is not an isolated concern. A stylist should never drastically change someone's hair without consent, minimize the client's reaction, or dismiss them afterward. If you are attached to your length or want a conservative cut, I would strongly urge caution. Also, just to speak more on the extent of impact: every time I look in the mirror or wear my hair down, I feel horrible about myself. Yes, hair grows back, but I had invested so much into my existing length. It wasn't super long, but it reflected a year's worth of intention- making rosemary water, trying heatless alternatives, red light therapy. He really impacted me in such a horrible way. read more

I walked in without an appointment and they were willing to take me in so I was thankful! Granted all I wanted was to cut my hair short and to shorten the front bangs slightly: the price came out to be $23 + $20 tip because jack did amazing. The fact that this place reasonably charges your haircut base on what it's worth it's rare to find. I'm talking about a 15-20 minute haircut costing $50-80 now a days. I'm not downplaying anyone's ability and qualities but be fr. I asked to cut my hair short straight across and to shorten / trim my front pieces and not going to lie , jack is the first person to ever to do it correctly in what I always been wanting and asking. so thank you. Woman's Haircut is $21+ and if you want them to wash your hair it's $5 if you're doing woman's hair wash. I didn't opt to wash my hair since I washed it the day of before coming. Took around 40 min to cut. There are other hair stylist people who can cut hair too. So ask whoever you want to cut your hair. They are good too. I had another female who is stationed at the far left end to cut my hair before and she did a good job too. However, I've never had male workers working their cut my hair before. Budget friendly, for sure. I came on a hot day, and they had no AC. As for my stylist, I'd say she's ok. For same day service, no complaints. But my stylist just seemed like she did my hair so quickly, haphazardly. And she didn't really do what I asked her to do. She did at first, but then she kept going and the end result was a different style than I envisioned. I sort of pointed it out to her but she just kept saying "it's nice." Serves me right. Lesson learned. Good thing I have good hair that is pliable and easy to camouflage imperfections, and grows fast. Overall it was just ok. I still gave her a good tip. Nice affordable neighborhood spot for a trim! My hair grew out quicker than expected and it was getting heavy and giving my neck issues. I booked an appointment for a Thursday afternoon and came in around 5 pm. I did wait for Linda to be free, mostly because I couldn't give a time but a time range so that was on me. It only took 15 minutes for her to wrap up her earlier client and she also only took 20 minutes before I was out the door. I asked for a trim on both my bangs and long hair, and it came out to be $25 pretax. If I just want to maintain my length, I'll likely be back. I didn't get a difficult haircut or style so I can't speak to that! There's lots of parking in their large shared lot/plaza. I booked a same-day appointment with Linda when I called on a Sunday morning. She basically picked up the phone and said "Can you come right now??" and I was on my way. When I arrived, I still ended up waiting about 20 minutes before starting my cut. Silver Scissors is a no-frills, quick, easy, and affordable neighborhood salon that is well-loved by many. I first tried them back when I was in middle school, and it's great that they're still here. I asked Linda for a trim, but she cut a little more than I wanted. The basic haircut is without a wash, she'll spray your hair to dampen it and start cutting right away. After the cut, she'll make sure it's okay with you before blow drying and straightening. No heat protectant is provided. She'll add a quick gloss to style your hair and a few extra snips after your hair is dry and you're good to go. Men's haircuts are around 10-15 minutes long and women's haircuts are around 15-20 minutes long for the full end-to-end experience. I think Kathy is usually the "star" of this salon and my experience with Linda was good, but not great. Given the price (women's haircuts are $25 without tip), it's a hard price and quality of cut to beat. I usually round up and pay $30. I think next time I'll wait and ask for Kathy. read more

I wanted to update the review since it had been 9 months since my last cut here. I'm back in the city after graduating university and decided to come back to Linda. For price transparency, the price is now $35 pre-tip for a trim. I scheduled with Linda for 6pm, and I came 10 minutes early so she was still working on someone else (but told her to please take her time). Like last time, I still recommend to schedule ahead in advance, just out of consideration for the employees. Usually I am very specific with my instructions (keep it long), but since I trust Linda after 2 other cuts with her, I told her I just needed a trim and she can do whatever. I was so surprised she still remembered that I liked my hair long, it has been 9 months. She helped me remove my dead ends, and she gave me some layers and some curtains bangs. This time she offered to style my hair in case I was going somewhere after, but I said it was fine as I was just going home after this (and I'm sure she had also had a long day). This time it was shorter and she spent around 30 minutes on my hair. It ended up being $45 with tip. My hair feels healthier now! A haircut is recommended every 3 months for maintenance. read more

Called early morning for same day appointment and Linda was able to schedule me! I asked for a color and cut as I wanted to refresh my look since my previous hair color was fading with roots growing out. Linda knew exactly what I wanted and started out with a trim first. She's the quickest trimmer ever which can be a concern for some but my hair was even so that's how you know she definitely got plenty of experience. After the trim, she put on the dye color of my choice and I waited for about 40 minutes before she washed it off. I was in and out within an hour and half and paid only $80 (not including tip). I'll definitely be back! Many salons nearby quoted me $165 and up for single color plus $100 for a haircut which is ridiculous. Give your local mom and pop salon a chance and there's a reason why many locals come here. Not sure how busy it gets on weekends but on a weekday there were non-stop walk-ins. Call ahead! read more

I L O V E my hair!! I got a nice cut and dyed my hair by Kathy. I get so many compliments and people ask me where I got it done. For my hair it was only 180$ and it's nearly double the price for other places. To be honest, I did not have the highest expectations in the beginning but after having my hair for a month I am so in love with it and will not go anywhere else now. Kathy speaks english but I recommend this place for those who are a bit more fluent in Cantonese or Chinese so you can tell them exactly how you want your hair. Or you can just show them a picture. I called and asked if they were taking any walk-ins around 4:15 PM on a Sunday in late January 2022. Linda picked up the phone and scheduled me for 5 PM the same day. The parking was super easy and free at the plaza the salon was in. Although they had a few people waiting in the waiting area, I got seated right away and Linda started working on me. This was my first time at this salon and hadn't got a haircut in almost a year. It was between this and another place I had bookmarked but the other place was about to close so I ended up here. My hair was in a bun and I was coming from a workout class so I was pretty gross. I showed Linda a picture of the simplest haircut I could find on their Yelp page and she started working. I told her to cut about 3+ inches off of my hair and do some layering. She did exactly what I wanted. She checked multiple times that my hair was even on both sides of my face when parted down the middle. I told her that I part my hair on the left and right of my face so she did the cut with my hair parted down the middle to accommodate. I think she did a great job. I was in and out of there in under 30 minutes. The haircut without shampooing was $25 and I tipped her $4 ($29 total). I'll definitely be coming back. read more
