Lvl 44 was the first club I went to when I moved to the Bay a couple of years ago, so it holds a special place in my heart. It was pretty popular before, but it's definitely quieter these days. Can be fine with the right crowd/group/occasion. It was a lot funner and more packed before the pandemic, unfortunately. They have no seating if you don't book a table (unless there are many tables open and they're not enforcing you to stay off them). That'd be the main thing I'd change is allowing space for people who don't really dance or don't wanna dance the entire time. Music is always r&b/hip-hop which I love, but it's hit or miss based on the dj. Overall I'd recommend trying it out for yourself at least once, but it's nowhere you're necessarily missing out on and there's other clubs/bars I'd prefer in the area. read more

The drinks here kind of suck, idk why but my Moscow Mule had like a hint of armpit or something (it was also probably the weakest I've ever had). This place was pretty awesome! I came here with my lady and our friend, and we met up with a super, super douche bag, who turned out to be a REAL psychopath. Anyway, the place is pretty fun. Three of my friends and I went here last night. My friends were roofied and I am almost positive that the bartender Rafael did it. Here's why: We had one drink and started the dance party. One of them went back to the bar to return her empty cup. A second friend went to check on her and found her at the bar drinking a bottle of water. She asked the bartender if she could have one too and he rudely threw it at her. After the water they ordered another drink (second drink about 2 hours in). Minutes later, one of them became so extremely ill and knew immediately that something wasn't right. When we realized that something really messed up just happened and she wasn't getting better no matter how much she threw up, I drove her home. I was worried for my other 2 friends who chose to stay, so I went back to pick them up. The one who had the water and the second drink was clearly very intoxicated. As soon as she sat in the car she became so very very sick. After vomiting gallons, she continued to dry heave with tearing stomach pains for another three hours. This is NOT a normal physiological response after two drinks and a bottle of water! She said she was already really paranoid that someone would mess with her drink and she never took her eyes off of it. However, when I asked for water, I was directed to a self-filling station with plastic cups. I saw another person order water and they were given water in a glass served from their little hoses they have. Why then, did she get a bottle???? And when the second woman approached and requested one too, was given one so rudely. She said the bottle was cold and she wiped the condensation off and noticed that the liquid didn't seem clear but she thought maybe it was because the lighting was dim and colorful. I will NEVER go back here and I don't recommend anyone else to either. The owners need to investigate their bartenders and make the protocol on providing water crystal clear. Stay alert ladies. This place doesn't disappoint! The reviews about racism seem to be off base. I actually commented to my friend that this club reminded me of a club in Amsterdam, noting the amount of culture represented. The place was packed with black people, Indians, Latinos, and of course, white people. Everyone was well behaved and the DJ kept us dancing and sweating! I had the best time! I also felt very secure with the presence of security and the bar was well staffed with no waiting for drinks. The place seems to be well managed after witnessing the orchestrated service of bringing drinks out with lights and security... nice touch! I live in the east bay, traveled down to SJ and got a hotel a couple blocks away with the intention of having an epic night out dancing. I'm already planning my next night out there. Came on a Thursday for the Housewerk. My friends and I were looking for something casual to do. Read on Yelp that the owner said there is no cover which is something my friends could appreciate since it was a Thursday and their first time there. We showed up at about 10:50, there was no line, after getting patted down they said it was going to be $15 COVER?!? For a Thursday I found this to be ridiculous but my friends wanted to check it out because they had never been. I didn't have cash so I asked to use the ATM. After going inside the place to use the ATM I saw that it was empty! 4 people inside. I was kind of shocked because I had been before on a Thursday when it was live music and no cover, and the place used to be pretty packed. Not sure if it was the $15 cover that turned people away, but it definitely turned me and my friends away. Nobody wants to pay $15 to go into an empty club. Diverse. That's the crowd you're going to get when you party here at LVL 44. Love it. This is the spot you're going to want to be at when you don't want that Man Jose feel that you all hear about when you think of your night out in San Jose. The ratio of Woman to Man seems just about as equal as it can get, and the music is on fire. All night. Great beer on tap along with all kinds of liquor to choose from. VIP tables throughout the club area are available as well as tables and chairs to just sit when you don't feel like dancing til 130am. Another plus is security is tight. They don't play and will throw that Apple bottom out if it acts up. It happened the night I went so don't get 86'd. With high hopes, LVL 44 is ditchin' the MAN and bringing back the SAN in San Jose. This is a review from someone who felt greatly discriminated just last Saturday, the last weekend of 2018 wherein our group (5 guys including myself and 4 ladies) decided to spend our last weekend of the year at the said club. A big mistake. We patiently fell in line and when our turn came, only the ladies were allowed to enter FIRST with a 10$ entrance fee telling them that the rest of the group will be allowed to enter after 10mins. A few minutes later, the bouncer told us that we were not allowed to enter the bar anymore since there were already "TOO MUCH GUYS"? Of course the ladies will look for us because we came as one group, so when we told them that we need to pull the ladies out of the bar because we're not allowed to enter they blatantly said "GO AHEAD!" And that the entrance fee is in fact, non-refundable. Easy money for these guys for doing this! It would be better if they just told everybody in the group in the first place that it was already too crowded inside instead of telling us that there's "too much guys", we're all paying customers after all despite the gender. No cover, friendly staff, nice dance floor, casual dress code, good selection of alcohol, and No Water After Midnight performances! So this review is a little late but better late than never. In Septemeber 2017, I was planning my 26th birthday. I wanted to do bottle services in DTSJ, but I didn't know which place to go. I searched yelp and figured I would try out LVL44, a couple of my friends have gone there before and they all came to the consensus that LVL 44 has good prices for bottle services, plays good music, and overall a chill spot. On September 12, 2017, I emailed Jameson Parvizad that I was interested in reserving a table for Saturday, September 16th for 2 bottles for 10 guests. I waited for him to reply to me...nothing... so I decided to reach out to them via Instagram comments saying something like "Hi I emailed about reserving a table, I just wanted to inquire that you received it" LVL44 immediately deleted my comment and messaged me on Instagram stating that the owner will get in contact with me. Shortly after I received an email from Jameson Parvizad stating, "Hi Danielle, we saw your post on Instagram, rest assured that you reservation is confirmed! See you Saturday." Which is cool, but at the same time, an email confirmation saying they received my reservation in the first place would have been nice. Fast forward to September 16th, the night of the bottle service. We arrive at LVL44 around 10 pm, 9 girls and 1 guy. My party waited in the VIP line and they inform us that they had no idea that we were coming, but they would still be able to get us a table. To be honest, I was pretty annoyed. I told the bottle service girl taking care of us that I can show her the email that Jameson Parvizad sent. However, she told me not to worry and we would be taken care of. When she sat us down, we were sat at a tiny table - no way it can fit our whole party... and it didn't. Half of my guest had to stand and were getting bumped by the other people in the club. I will say, our bottle service girl (and I wish I remember her name) was super sweet. She even comped us another bottle of champagne, which was cool, but to be honest I just wish they got our table right. I really didn't want anything free, I wanted it to be done right...especially if you tell me that we were confirmed a table for 10 people. Additionally, within 20 mins of us being at the club, some random girl came in our section and put her half-full beer in our ice bucket and tried to start a fight with us. Luckily, security kicked her out immediately but it was seriously one bad thing after another. Throughout the night, the DJ at LVL44 played really good music. We all enjoyed ourselves in our little tiny bottle service space -____- . Would I go back to LVL44 again? Eh maybe. I definitely wouldn't do bottle service again there. The reason why I am going to give this place a 3/5 is because of the bottle service hostess - she was great and tried to make the night as good for me as possible and for that, I am thankful for that. I really wanted to like this place, but I am so disappointment of the lack of professionalism on the person who replied to my emails and said my table would be ready, when it clearly wasn't. Definitely one of my FAVORITE clubs in Downtown San Jose! This is the first club I went to for my 21st birthday a while back (on a Saturday), and I also recently came here with a couple of friends (on a Friday). Both nights were so fun! The music selection is amazing, ranging from late 90's to early 2000's hip-hop and r&b, to current trap and hip-hop music. I also love how the place is set up, it is arranged so that people can comfortably get around/dance, as well as have a more private place to sit if that is what they're feeling. Definitely one of the larger clubs in Downtown San Jose. The bartenders, security guards, and staff in general are respectful and professional. CLEAN BATHROOMS! Always a plus :) My favorite part however, is the crowd. Diversity is important to me and this place is exactly that.. diverse! LVL 44 is absolutely one of my go-to places whenever I want to have a great night out with my friends. read more

LVL 44 was the first true club/lounges I checked out in downtown San Jose. I went on a Saturday night around 11:30. There was a small line that seemed to be growing but the wait was only about 5-10 minutes to get it. Security was cool and it cost me a cool 10 bucks to get in. They have a few areas for table service, one in the center of the club and the rest around the perimeter of the club. The club was full but not packed, I think they keep a tight head count and at no point throughout the night did the club ever feel packed. LVL 44 on a Saturday definitely seemed like a more chill club. My club experience was more relaxed and less pretentious. There is bottle service but no sparklers. I don't know if they offer food with the tables but I saw a bunch of pizza boxes on one table. The crowd was pretty diverse in both age and ethnicity. There weren't a lot of people jumping up and down, I didn't get bumped into too much and a security was visible but not overly present. the music was only okay, it was mostly popular radio hip hop with okay transitions and there wasn't much EDM. I think that's part of the reason the vibe was chill. There's space to dance but the night I was there I didn't see too much dancing besides a few old heads that were getting down! I was drinking Scotch and it was $12 per glass. Overall I think it's a decent club that has more of a lounge feel. They stop letting people in around 1AM so there will be no late night dancing if you don't get there probably by midnight-ish because they will close the line at little before 1AM. I don't think it's the best club but I'm used to east coast clubs and LVL44 has a much different feel. I had a good experience though and think it's worth checking out at least once. read more

I went to this club last night had 3 drinks and two shots . I noticed they did put a lot of alcohol but I know my 6 drink limit so I did not care all that much. Me and my friend get kicked out and they did not give us a reason but we ended up leaving. But if there bartenders are pouring a dangerous amount of alcohol they should try to limit people getting kicked out since it at that point there fault. I will not be going back to this place. I have a speech impediment, I use an app on my phone that writes out what I want to say. I wanted to order a drink from the bar so I wrote out my drink and showed it to the bartender who immediately dismissed me and didn't serve me. He shook his head and shooed me away like a stinky fart. The bar was not busy at all so he could've served me but clearly didn't want to. seconds later my bf ordered what I wanted and he served him right away. I didn't get a name but if you're looking at the bar he was serving the left side of the bar on Friday night 2/11/22. Doesn't make sense to me unless this dude doesn't know how to read... such a shame to have to stop going here. Tonight was the grand opening and I had so much fun turning up with my crew. It was easy to get drinks from any of the three bartenders. I was definitely willing to pay more at the bar since there wasn't a cover. The lounge turned into a nightclub/lounge with the live DJ. People were turning up most of the night. The first DJ played top 40 which was alright but then Azure came in around midnight to make it feel real loungey with his house mixes laid over some throwbacks. It definitely should remain more of a club type place rather than a lounge. The main floor had two couches for reservations and couches along the walls for reservation too. However if you weren't part of that reservation it would be awkward to just stand around chatting instead of dancing. I definitely want to come back and see what Lvl44 has to offer! I always feel safe, the security is completely on top of it. Especially when there are creeper guys, it's like they already know. Nick and the LVL44 staff are a special team - they manage to simultaneously be extremely knowledgeable and open to new ideas for your event. They are confident, down-to-earth, direct and kind. Nick was determined to bring my unique 90's themed event to life! One of my favorite things about Nick is how quickly and thoroughly he responded to ALL of my questions. I completely trust Nick - we had spent weeks planning, aligned on every last detail, and I knew that whatever happened, he would be able to handle it. Nick and LVL44 team are graceful under pressure and they never stop making you feel like you're being taken care of - not easy! They are creative thinkers who are also very practical about how the decisions you make will impact the schedule, feel of the event and budget. I celebrated my 44th birthday on 9/3/2022. I had a party bus take me and my party of 12 to the venue, we arrived about 11pm and were quickly taken to the VIP section right on the dance floor. I had selected 2 bottles of Moët Nectar Rose when I set up the bottle service via text about a month before my birthday. The ladies were very attentive asked when I wanted the bottles if I would open them myself or would I like them to pop an pour, I chose to do so myself but I appreciated the great service. Shortly after arriving I was told another party would be coming and I'd have to share the space, I explained and showed my text messages that I reserved for a party of 12 and there would not be enough space for another party and all are comfortable because my group was occupying the entire space, he tried to point out other areas for me but I liked that we were right on the dance floor so I didn't want to move. I felt a little frustrated because he said the other party had not arrived but when they do he will let me know. He also added an extra bottle of Moët for free for the mix up which was really nice. He was all up on my friend and when I tried grabbing her he went CRAZY and threw me out. I didn't do anything wrong besides trying to get my friend out of the situation but the security started laughing once I got thrown out. Waited for my friends to come out and the Samoan security that threw me out came from another door and was walking up to me as if he was ready to fight me. I walked up to the security at the door so he could see and told him to chill and go inside. When the Samoan security walked by me to go back inside he called me a "FUCKEN FAGGOT". This right here is the type of lounge I've been waiting for. The live band, No Water After Midnight, was LEGIT. They played smooth R&B and hip hop that really got everybody going. Swanky lighting and decor, clean restrooms, moderately priced drinks, friendly security, classy vibe -- seriously, this place is a win. I didn't think it could get any better until the DJ came on. He played a mix of current hits, classic throwbacks, and even some hyphy jams reminiscent of my college days. The crowd was singing, grooving, and smiling. Amazing positive energy all around. Overall this place just feels laid back and sexy. I'd been turned off by the idea of clubbing for the longest time. Every club feels the same. Except LVL 44. Bouncers at the front were incredibly rude. Website does not even have information on it. We got there at 1am just trying to have a good time before the night was over and I had read online a question answered from the owner about them not having a cover charge on the weekend. The bouncer said that if I could show proof of somewhere it saying there was no cover, he would honor it. But he did not and was very rude about making us pay $10 each for 30 minutes in their bar.
