Had a fun Friday evening here. My friend LaRiRi was performing with other performers as well. I liked that they played known music by a DJ in between new performers getting their music out. The last artist was a well known artist from the Bay, keak the sneak. They even had the DJ go back on and played more music to end the night. The drinks are tasty and I did like the presentation of my drink order as well as the non alcoholic drink my cousin got. Their decor outside is fun and inviting. Inside is nice but the area of the stage is very awkward. Kinda needs a roped walk way to the bathroom maybe but that would take a lot of space off the dance floor. Maybe make more room for the dance floor instead of a lot of tables service tables. I could be wrong but that's just my observation I love that they are right next door to a Taco Bell cantina We were able to get street parking in front of an apartment across the street from them but I did see parking garage areas close by as well. read more

I'll tell you this this club is not inclusive at all the bouncer in the front checking IDs there's not acceptance' no matter who you are. They will identify you no matter how you look but after that because certain people can have more privileges, but they did they base off your physical appearance and not sexual orientation that' says a lot for their establishment and how they allow and treat their patrons read more

Came here on a rowdy night during a bar crawl. I've passed by this spot a lot on nights out downtown but it always looked crowded, loud, and a bit musty. Luckily it was emptier on the Friday that my friends and I came in. They had deals on their mango daiquiris (?) which weren't too thin but also not too strong. The staff was friendly when we ordered. There was decent space for a dance floor and the music was fine for Bay Area hip hop vibes. All in all I think it was a worthwhile bar crawl stop with space to dance and drinkable drinks but I wouldn't fight tooth and nail to wait in a line for it. If i could only leave 0 stars i would. The worst night of my life, complete false advertisement. We were there to see NB Ridaz today, May 16, the event details said it would be from 8pm-11:59pm.. we went right at the beginning and for 3hours straight we had to stand there and listen to a bunch of strangers" sing".It was not until 11pm that NB Ridaz showed up. We had also bought a ticket to have a table, but when we got there they told us that money was just to reserve it but in order to sit down at the table we needed to buy an alcohol bottle, which were all over $280. We requested a refund as nothing on the website said we had to buy alcohol to get the table. It was also excessively packed! We all looked like sardines and people kept pushing and throwing drinks on people. Security didn't do much and the host of the event didn't either.. I would never come back here for another event. So we went into Tiki Pete's this weekend to pregame a disco event downtown and it was a great call! The drinks were strong and delicious and the vibe was right. The service was friendly but we did have to get up a few times to ask for more or then check but there was a big fighting match on so they deserve some slack. One thing though that did keep us uncomfortable most of the visit was how humid hot it was towards the back of the restaurant where we were sitting. Felt sticky so next time we'll try to get a table by the door. Also don't go in thinking you can have some dinner they are in between cooks so no food was being served and we came in knowing exactly what dishes we wanted to try! Great place to go out and have a drink with your friends. Good vibes , good drinks , good crowd. Prices are pretty pricey but I guess it makes sense due to how popular this location is. Would have gave them a 5 star but one small event that happened to me got me upset. My man bought me and my friends flowers and we had them on the table after we purchased 350$ plus worth of bottles service and then obviously kept buying more and more drinks. Then we all decided to go dance on the dance floor and some of us went outside to get some air . We went back to the table not even 10-15 mins after to find that they sold our table to someone else even tho they knew we were still there. Then they threw away all our flowers $100 plus worth. Like I get you guys are trying to make money and want to sell bottle service but that was rude to give away our table to make a quick buck. I've been here before for dinner and drinks before but Saturday was a special occasion as a friend was turning 50. The theme of the party was reggae night which was awesome in it of itself. Tiki Pete's is Da Kine during the day. They serve delicious large portion hawaiian food. When you are missing out on some island feels this place is the place to go. Their prices are decent and have a great variety of options. Appetizers from musubi to sliders, etc. Their entree's are a protein, rice, cabbage and macaroni salad. You won't leave hungry that is for sure. The icing on the cake though is their Mai Tai's. Served in a hollowed out pineapple. OH-MY-GAWD!!!!!!!!! With the music blaring...great company and one of these in your hand..you are surely to be transported away from the hustle and bustle of every day life to the tropical islands of Hawaii. This place was OKAY...there was no line when we went on a Saturday night which was great! But I paid $15 for an AMF which is absurd, the music was honestly way too slow (some slow bar esque music even though it had a dance floor and young crowd), and service took WAY too long. I asked a server for two drinks, and when she didn't come back after ~10 minutes, I thought she forgot (even though it wasn't that busy). So, I ordered my drinks with another server near us. Then, when I got the check for my drinks with the second server, the first server finally came back and had charged the same card...even though this was ~15 minutes after I ordered/she showed any acknowledgement. Formerly Da Kine, now with a much greater emphasis on Tiki drinks! They still have their famous poke, and I don't imagine that has changed, so this is mostly going to be about the booze, of which there is a lot of and is extremely good. I got: -Chai Mule: just like a Moscow Mule but with a bit of spice, like cinnamon and maybe cardamom. It's interesting and definitely delicious. Served in a faux-copper mug though :( -Kanehoe POG: for "Passionfruit-Orange-Guava" not "Pineapple" as I have thought my entire life. Tastes exactly what it sounds like, but definitely has some alcohol in it. Like all Tiki drinks, this thing is *dangerous* -Rum Barrel (limit 2!): Exactly what it sounds like -- hefty pours of 4 different types of rum, juice, ice, and some mystery syrup (make sure to stir!) make for a strong m'f-ing drink. It goes down *ridiculously* smooth, but you can definitely tell that, by volume, it's about 50% alcohol. Buyer beware, unless you're an alcoholic like me, in which case, bottom's up! Note: maybe it was just because of how much I had drank at this point, but the Tiki Grog (also 4 kinds of rum) tastes *very* similar to the Barrel (albeit a little more refreshing, little less boozy), and is less intimidatingly-large, so if you're not up for drinking a ton of booze, opt for the Tiki Grog instead. It's great! My friend got their fish tacos which looked amazingly good, and I saw a plate of poke that I *almost* ordered, had I not eaten literally 15 minutes beforehand. The bartenders are extremely friendly and will answer all your dumb questions like "what's in this drink?" and "did this place used to be Da Kine?" even though "Da Kine" is still plastered all over their walls and their uniforms. The food was not good at all. We had to wait over 40 minutes for our food; and the smell was retched in the place. Obnoxiously loud music, bad food, and the strong smell of cigarettes makes me never want to go back to this place. On top of all this, the place is completely unsafe with terrible customer service. Great atmosphere! Heard about this place through a friend from the Bay Area. She had invited me to an event she was participating in as part of a singing group and would be performing with the band. I couldn't make it then because of UYSB in Reno. That was on May 19 this year so I bookmarked the place hoping to make it here one day. Well, we made it there tonight. It was around 7:45p when we arrived... the place was crowded, almost jam-packed, and I wasn't sure if we were going to get a table inside. We were led in the back area at a high table, you know the kind where you just have drinks or apps. We wanted a full dinner but there was no room anywhere else so we took what was available. We proceeded to order... The menu looked interesting with a wide selection of island favorites. We placed an order of Spam Musubi (2 pcs), Da Kine Fried Rice, Coconut Shrimp and hubby had the Kalua Loco Moco. Our meals started to arrive in quick time. Surprisingly, our small round table was able to fit all the food we ordered. Our server wasn't too observant about our water glasses needing refills. Had to ask. The Spam Musubi was Ono! They didn't skimp on that sweet sauce. Yum! Daughter and hubby seemed to have enjoyed their meals. I was disappointed with the fried rice, though. It was plentiful but tasteless. It needed something... salt? soy sauce? We didn't have any of these condiments on our table... actually, as small as these items were there was literally no space on our table. The atmosphere was lively, the scene was adorned with all Hawaiian theme. Hubby even thought that it was overkill... not sure if there's such a thing as too Hawaiian?. Anyway, it was a bar scene, there was no live band performing that evening since all the flat screens were showing the UFC 227 fight on PPV. There was even a flat screen facing Market Street... Was super confused when I passed by this place and quickly realized that this was Da Kine. Not sure if it's a new name or they go by 2 different names now but here's my review: I came during happy hour and ordered some poke and a few drinks. The prices of the drinks were pretty decent for happy hour. The poke was average- not much flavor at all and tastes anything but authentic. But still is a nice complement to the drinks. I also got the pulled pork nachos and was very pleasantly surprised! They were delicious and had a lot of meat on it. The drinks- we got a Pina Colada and some special drink and they were both so tasty! So good that it's dangerous how fast you can chug these. This is definitely my new happy hour spot! Wanted to give an honest review about Tiki Pete. Being health care workers we have not seen the outside world for well over 1 1/2 year. As things are getting better we decided we owed it to ourselves to have a evening out to celebrate two of our nurses birthday. We chose Tiki Petes as many of our friends have events and come here. We contacted the general e-mail and after one response requesting the bottle service menu I didnt not hear from them. No problem, I contacted Frank who was a promoter on Tiki Petes IG flyer. After discussing over text and getting a confirmation for date, table location and bottle size price we were all set. He was kind and very helpful over the phone. Come the day of we get there and Frank had promised the best table in the house next to the DJ booth and we did not get that table, we got one next to it with regular chairs not as comfortable okay we accepted that and was fine. As our bottles come we notice one of the bottles was small 750ml vodka when we clearly discussed and confirmed a 1.75 liter bottle. The bottle service attendant stated this is what we paid for I quickly go over to Frank who I expressed this is was not the deal he accepted that it was his fault and try to offer a $50 refund. I told him this was not acceptable and fair. He gave us another cognac bottle after I expressed to him my frustration and being upset. Not only did the bottle service go wrong but we waited for a long time for cups and chasers to come out. Everything our chasers was out or cups we had to go over to the bartenders and ask for refill when it is clearly the bottle services attendants job to do so especially spending alot of money that night with the poor service. After the evening is coming to an end the attendant comes up to me and tells me that tax and gratuity was not included after Frank confirmed the price out of the door several times. I paid the additional amount that I dont believe they deserved because the proper service was not catered. I usually don't write negative reviews like this about places but being a healthcare worker and coming out to enjoy an event after the hard work we put to end this pandemic and getting this poor service was very disappointing and personally disrespectful. Of all the places we could've chosen to go in the bay area we came to Tiki Petes only to be over promised and delivered with poor services. I personally will not come back here and I hope the owners can be more involved in there staff and communication amongst the promoters and bottle services attendants. Also, please do a better job of keeping your restroom at least a little decent and clean. read more

Tiki Pete is a true Hawaiian Adventure in San Jose, CA . Originally, it was called Da Kine, who still does catering for large events. (Different owner). When I came in I thought it was a sports bar with 8 big screen TVs, great sound system, but actually, it is a music venue with bands and other entertainment. Unfortunately for me, it is a night place where all the action starts at 9 PM. (I'm usually asleep by 8 PM). They have a very nice menu but their focus are the great alcoholic beverages the have available. I had one of their non alcoholic fruit drinks and Polynesian style ribs. It was excellent! The atmosphere, friendliness of the staff and servers made this an enjoyable experience for me. Being a Senior Citizen, I definitely was out of place as they were packed and noise level was really high. I HAD A GREAT TIME! 5 Star Place as far as I'm concerned. Hm, not the greatest of places. I came here with a large group and surprisingly, this place had no line on a Saturday night at around 10:45pm. This should have stuck out as a red flag considering all other places in San Pedro Square were packed and had extremely long lines. There was a $10 cover fee per person to get in here. Once we were in, there was barely any room to move. It was people on top of people and unusually packed with huge groups of just guys that stayed around the stage area staring down and gawking at girls. The girls in my group felt a bit uncomfortable, so worth mentioning on their behalf! There was some live music but the vibes were way too mellow for this to be a bar. I wouldn't go out to a bar with a dance floor if I wanted slow music! The tables and seating arrangement was a bit strange to me considering it was near the middle of the dance area and close to the stage. It was pretty awkward to see some couples dancing with each other while people were seated right next to them LOL. I got my beloved AMF drink which was $15, the most I've paid anywhere ever for it. It was a weak drink for a high price, the bartenders looked like this was the last place they wanted to be. Also, it was my partner's birthday this night and the bartenders weren't willing to give even a free shot or drink for her. Our group ordered at least 10 drinks if not more, so that was a bit annoying considering any other place would have done something. Another ridiculous thing was that the security kept walking around shining flashlights in everyone's faces every 2-3 minutes up and down the whole place. I came to Da Kine to watch my boyfriend's band, 5606, play. As a music venue, Da Kine was a laid back spot for a cozy, personal show. There's quite a bit of area to stand in front of the stage, but I liked the positioning of the communal tables in proximity of the stage. You can see the bands play from anywhere in the restaurant, really. The acoustics and sound in the restaurant were great. I was especially able to hear my boyfriend's singing clearly. I had my heart set on getting spam musubi, but Da Kine switches out their standard, everyday menu to a special one on event nights. One of the awesome bartenders went out of their way and tried to ask the kitchen if orders outside of the event menu could be placed. No exceptions, which was fine. There were many other appetizing things to order off the menu, plus the bartender was helpful in narrowing down my choices. My overall review would be a 4 star for Da Kine, but the whole situation with the miscommunication/mix up on my food was disappointing. I placed an order for Kalua tacos and chicken teri, but 40 min. or so later my boyfriend and I got our food. Mind you, after 5 parties who placed their orders after us. The food at Da Kine was not bad. I appreciated how the tacos held up together well despite the wetness of the Kalua pork. The mayo sauce on top of the Kalua gave a nice kick of heat. My boyfriend's chicken teri plate was just OK. I've had better mac salad. The chicken was too chewy, but the teriyaki sauce had good saltiness and flavor. The different Hawaiian beer selections brewed locally by the restaurant were pretty good. I had the Honu IPA, G-Spot, and Kalihi IPA. If you don't like a very hoppy IPA, the Honu IPA is for you. It was very sweet, and I felt like I could barely taste the hops. This wasn't my favorite, since I like my IPAs as hoppy as possible lol. My friend and a few other girls were physically harassed by a middle aged man at our school's "welcome week rave" hosted by tiki. They were not helped after asking security and multiple staff to kick the guy out. After they talked to him they allowed him to continue roaming around the freshman college students as this was an event for MAINLY the freshman and sophomores. Throughout the night more girls were targeted. I wish they looked out for us more and just kicked the guy out. Instead security told her "welcome to night life". We happened to be in downtown and saw a few new places we hadn't tried yet. We ended up at Da Kine which is located right next to the San Pedro parking garage. The fact that they validate parking makes coming here even better. The restaurant is spacious inside with a large bar. TVs flow down the length of one wall for sports/game nights and most of their tables are high bar types but very sturdy. If you come with small children or simply prefer regular dining tables, go to the far end. Our server, Hilary T., was friendly and checked on us often during dinner. The Kalua pork sliders were delicious. The meat was tender and moist. I wish the portion had been bigger though. Their Teriyaki chicken was cooked right. All the bites were clean. The meat was lean but not dry. The only thing was that the sauce was on the saltier side. The Ahi poke was good except for a few gristly pieces. We also enjoyed the Aloha spare ribs. They were well seasoned. Unfortunately, the flavor of the macaroni salad that came with the dishes didn't work for us. We didn't save room to try their Haupia. Next time :) read more

Tried out Da Kine Island Grill in Downtown SJ first time Sun 8/10/14. Went for the $25 AYCE buffet Sunday dinner and Hawaiian/Tahitian dance show. You get a shell necklace so they know who is doing the buffet dinner. Tables have both Hawaiian punch & water - Pass on the punch folks. You can learn to dance the Hukilau - you can go on stage w/ others & learn it. Pay attention to what the Announcer talks about, you might win a CD if you know the answer to the Trivia, don't shout out answer, go to him. Dinner buffet started at 5:30-6:15pm. It's all you can eat but most people only eat 1 plate, maybe 2 plates of food. Food was just kinda meh for me. There was: green salad - dressing on the side ahi poke - good, though too much chopped up onions lomi-lomi salmon - too much onions, lots of tomatoes, tiny salmon mac salad - fine rice - ok kahlua pork -salty, but tender chicken soup noodle - slotted spoon, how are we suppose to get soup using that? glass noodles were fine. teriyaki chicken - nothing special. Haupia - Small square of coconut pudding like jello, brought out after some dancing started, I liked it. I wish I had come for the Happy Hr menu instead Sun 3-5pm! I would have been happier. Show was good, was almost 1hr long. They have a musical show around 9pm and if you stay for that they charge $10 (even if you're already in there) & wristband given to see it. I didn't stay for that. Aloha has finally arrived in Downtown SJ!! I had the single best Mai Tai I ever imbibed: the Da Kine Mai Tai ... served in a Dole Royal Hawaiian pineapple, too! They pay homage to the original Mai Tais (yes, plural!) with those also available on the menu. Having lived in Da Islands for a few years, I had to try their Loco Moco. Well, Da Kine has SEVERAL versions of Loco Moco, of which I had the Mahi-Mahi. Absolutely fantastic!! So what saved this review, was the excellent service and the good drinks. Our server was Daniela, and she was super nice and helpful. When our food wasn't right, she took the appropriate action to make sure we got it fixed. In this case was taking the food off our bill. The ribs had a good taste on the outside, but when we got to the middle, the meat was all dry and tasteless. Which sucked, because my friend recommended them. Our Poke and Kahlua Pork was good and that Rum Barrel will knock you on your ass if your not careful. The Da Kine sampler for beer was great as well. Next time I may just stick to appetizers, but will definitely come back for drinks...cool venue. read more

Guards are real asshole. I was there on a date, my date arrived late and told me to go inside. 30 minutes in she showed up and called me to front door. Just so happened she left her ID in the car. He said like I said if you leave you paying to get back in. After a little argument my date said you know what. I don't even feel like going to this establishment. Maybe we can go out another time he ruined my whole vibe. She didn't want to hang anymore and that was that! So you guards are some real sucka for not letting me walk a woman to her car. At this time, they said they only had four (4) pineapples left for anyone who wanted to order their famous Mai Tai. Okay...one friend ordered it. No real pineapple taste. We ordered some spam masubi to share. It was ok, I like my spam crispier. We shared an order of the kalua pork nachos. The pork tasted great, but really it was simple. Generic chips and fake cheese. The salsa was good, though. I ordered the aloha spare ribs rice plate. It tasted really good. Like Vietnamese thit kho. Unfortunate thing was, it was mostly bones. Not much meat. Contrary to some other reviews, I enjoyed the mac salad. Two friends ordered the beef patty loco moco and both were thoroughly disappointed. Apparently the patties were extremely dense and dry. One friend ordered the Poke Platter to share. They were a bit skimpy with the poke. The ahi and salmon poke were ok. The tako tasted good, for whichever portion they gave you. That dish consisted mostly of cucumber! The saddest part, the birthday boy arrived a bit late, a shy after 8PM and had to pay a cover. $10 to enter. The service was horrendous. The waitress took 20 minutes to bring coffee to the table. The food was somehow even worse than the service. It took nearly 45 minutes to receive our food, and the order wasn't even correct. The ONLY reason we ate it, was because we were on a time crunch to catch a hockey game, and couldn't afford to wait another 45 minutes to possibly receive the wrong dish yet again. This wouldn't have been so bad if the food actually tasted good, which it most definitely did not. Everything was bland, even though it was soaked in some weird brown gravy-sauce mixture. We eventually gave up on this establishment overall, not even finishing half of all of the meals. We waited about 25 minutes for the waitress to bring us our check, which never even happened. I eventually told the other 3 on my party to just go & I'll pay, to end this nightmare. I went to the front counter & told the manager that I'd like to pay our bill. Our waitress was about 3 feet from him & started to ring it up, to which he told her to grab the next outgoing meal first, which wasn't even ready to go out to the table. After standing there for exactly 13 minutes (I timed it this time), I was able to pay & be on our way to the game.... Still hungry & incredibly dissatisfied. Pros: - If you're a "yelper," you can get a free shot of Jameson with the purchase of an IPA when you show that you've checked in - Extensive menu - Fresh ingredients - Came in during lunch on a Sunday, so it wasn't very busy, but the staff was quick and friendly - Salmon poke and the shoyu chicken were excellent! Cons: - Rice was a little overlooked as it was gooey - Salmon poke sauce was a little too salty for my taste - Wish there was a little more outdoor seating, but that's neither here nor there Either way, when I'm back in San Jose I will be sure to come back! read more

I have to say, I was hoping the reviews would prove me wrong. Not so. I walked in on a weeknight - only two tables of two were there. I was waiting for my friend, so asked to see what beers were on tap so that I could order his beer as well. I chose the Nani Wheat for myself and she said they had a Guava Wheat I should try. Ok, I'm game. I then asked for the Stout for my friend. Oh... they didn't have the last three beers listed on the menu. I asked if they had any other stouts available. No. But they had a Brown Ale. I asked where that was listed on the menu. She gave me a totally different menu. Huh? So why did she give me the first menu if it wasn't current? Ok, ordered the Brown Ale. My beer came - it was called G-Spot. Ha! I did like it - was sweet but not too much, and didn't remind me of a Wheat beer. We had to call her over to place our orders -she said that she was waiting for her computer. What? There's literally no one in the restaurant and you can't take our order? Anyway... We ordered - me - Kahlua Pork Sliders. Friend - Poke Bowl. He asked how hot the flamin sauce was - she said a 3 out of 10. Hmmmm - then why is it called flamin? Food comes out - not together. Surprise - my edamame is cold. I've never gone to a restaurant where they serve the edamame cold. The sliders had the potential to be so good and tasty, but the meat was dry... Poke bowl was good from what my friend said. Very tasty and filling. And, btw the sauce was probably a 7 out of 10... We did order another round and I tried the Nani Wheat - enjoyed it. All in all this place has potential, but the service needs to be worked on and the food needs to be consistent for all dishes. read more
