The female bartender on the lower level during the weekends at night is so unfriendly. I wouldn't waste time or money ordering from her, much more friendlier bartenders to go to. There was even another time I went and my sister left her phone at the bar and asked her if anyone left a phone, she said no, didn't even bother checking. I had my high school graduation party here years ago hosted by my family. Very appreciative of the 2nd floor space w/bar and buffet. There was plenty of seating and the whole 2nd floor was booked up. Came back here for my grandma's service lunch on the 2nd floor once again in November 2025 and it was a great experience. We parked across the street in a parking lot for $10 which wasn't too bad at all. Upon arriving, the employee greeted us and we walked up the stairs to the 2nd floor. At the time, the Loft wasn't open to the public. There were two long tables for everyone with a DJ stand and that's where my family held our speeches. After the speeches, we enjoyed their food which was really good. There was plenty of food and I filled up my plate generously. The appetizers were crispy calamari, cheese platter, roast artichokes, steak bites, caesar salad. Entrees were pesto salmon, smoked salmon rotini, vegetarian penne, chicken marsala, grilled pork tenderloin. With sides of basmati rice, garlic mashed potatoes, sauteed vegetable medley. Dessert we had NY Cheesecake, white chocolate creme brulee. I would recommend this place for holiday parties, work events and family gatherings. We sat downstairs and were able to watch the 49er playoff game while we ate. The atmosphere fits the name well...it feels like dining in someone's downtown loft apartment. (Slightly industrial with exposed brick, but all very cool.) The service was fast and friendly for most of our time there. (The only issue being a delayed extra ketchup we requested) The server even offered to close the front door when he thought I was cold. The food was awesome. We got 2 of the happy hour burger specials. It was a burger, fries and fixins...plus a shot and a beer for under $20. The burger was cooked to order and delicious. Good char and flavor. The fries were also very good. Overall, the place was great and I'm glad we caught them while they were open. I don't know if the noise was just enclosed more, but it did seem louder than inside. They also do private parties at their upstairs bar. How do I know this because it was a birthday party this time that we came in and they had a buffet set up for guest to serve themselves and the place was decorated with balloons and party favors. Tables were set up for guest who joined. For drinks, we ordered one beer and a rum shot and also ordered the pineapple and coconut Mojito, which was really good and smooth was not heavy on the alcohol at all. For food, we ordered the steak bites. **Steak Bites $18.95 Grilled and cubed marinated bistro filet served with a cabernet dipping sauce. This appetizer consisted of steak squares and a side of vegetables. It was the perfect size and it hit the spot. The steak was cooked perfectly. Super convenient. This place doubles as a club after the dinner rush Thursday-Sunday. When we got there, we got sat right away, with option to sit downstairs, upstairs, or outdoors upstairs. Our server came quick to get our drinks & appetizer orders. We then ordered our food too. The calamari was very good, as was the 2 dishes my wife & I split, the Chicken piccata & prawns, & steak wrap. Our server took good care of us all night. Now given the service, hospitality, & food, I'm not inclined to give this place a 1 or 2 star review, it would be unfair, but for their own sake & to help the business thrive & improve, some fair & realistic feedback is needed on 1 item. There's my guess is, a drainage or back flow problem here. You could smell sewage odor from the second you entered the building, and it was obviously worse when you went to the restrooms. Everyone in our party noticed it, and when we left, the club was now open, packed inside, with a line to get in. You don't want people leaving your establishment and telling people it smelled like sewage. The owners/management should get that issue fixed stat, as it's going to have a negative impact on their business in time if not addressed. The only reason for 4 stars was they had on wrestling instead of March Madness dropped by Saturday before the Improv and had a drink and garlic fries. Super cool upstairs loft layout. We had our company Christmas party here last night and it was great time. The ambiance of the bar/bistro is just like it sounds, a sort of loft style with high ceilings. We were on the second floor and my only complaint was that it got very warm up there and they didn't seem to have air conditioning on that floor at least so that was a bit uncomfortable. Disappointed by the lack of respect employees give customers. I recently went to have a night out with my girlfriend and friends when suddenly I was pushed and harassed by the employee on the left! I have came to this place multiple times always had a great time but this time was unbearable with the type of harassment the employee had. I was dancing with my girlfriend when suddenly I pushed aggressively by this employee. When I turned back and told him to take it easy, he got cocky and got aggressive with me. Afterwards kicking me and my group of friends out of the bar for speaking up. This was absolutely disappointing to experience. I come here once in a great while, maybe twice a year. Usually when I come the vibes are great! Upstairs is usually packed. Downstairs is a little more mellow which I like. I recently held a combination engagement/birthday party for 50 guests at the Loft and had a great experience! We held the event in the downstairs bar area. As part of the event we did karaoke with our guests. The venue provided a projector screen for us to use, along with letting us connect to their wifi so that we could stream the songs from YouTube. We used our own projector, but the venue does have one available if you need to borrow one. The owner - Kam - was super helpful and responsive over email, text and phone calls during the initial stages of booking the venue and going over the menu. The manager - Adrian - was great - he allowed us to come to the venue a few days early to set up and test out our karaoke system. The staff during the event were extremely helpful, responsive and friendly to us and our guests. Special shout-outs to the bartenders Taylor and Julie! The food? The Mediterranean-themed buffet menu provided by Capers was very good and many of my foodie friends commented on how tasty it was. I'd definitely go back to this venue for another party! After our event ended the venue brought in a DJ and my guests stayed late to continue dancing.... Tip: You will need to bring your own sound system (I recommend the Bose S1 Pro) if you plan on singing or giving speeches as the venue may have other events at the same time and you may be competing with their music. Our karaoke system was the following: Windows Laptop playing Karaoke songs on Youtube pushing to the LCD Projector pushing to the sound output to Bose S1 Pro Speaker. We also chained a second second Bose S1 Speaker to ensure ample volume in the room. read more

CAUTION: Be very careful before booking here. We had a deeply disappointing experience at The Loft. They engaged in bait-and-switch tactics when we called Capers to book there a month in advance then they set us up at The Loft, understaffed the event, and kept a portion of our food. Initially, we agreed on a price for a group of 60, with the corkage fee waived since we were considering other venues. When our group size dropped to 40 (due to issues with the east coast hurricane in early Oct 2024) they refused a price adjustment, which we accepted, but requested the food for the remaining 20 people to be packed for us. They agreed without issue. On the day of the event, they moved us to a completely different, rundown location in downtown San Jose (The Loft) without asking for approval. The venue was nothing like what we had seen on the pictures, it was dirty, scary location, with paid parking. Despite these frustrations, we decided to proceed as we had guests from all over the country. We dropped off wine for dinner, requesting that the white be chilled and the red kept cool. This simple task took over 30 minutes, and the red wine was left sitting out. The service was disorganized and inattentive throughout. When it came time to settle the bill, I asked for the leftover food as promised. They told me it was already given out, which was absolutely not the arrangement. The manager was not present but over the phone, Kan, was dismissive and rude, even accusing me of being drunk when I questioned where the rest of the food had gone. I insisted he could check with his staff to confirm I was not drunk, it did not matter. He threatened to call the police if I didn't pay the full bill. It was a terrible experience--poor communication, unprofessionalism, and broken promises. Be careful if you're considering this place, especially if you're from out of town. read more

Came here for an event at their private venue upstairs. The restaurant itself is pretty cool with an open bar and and an open kitchen where you can watch your food being made. The staff was super courteous and always coming to check if we wanted any more drinks. Our event served food buffet style. The food is really give and take, some pieces are cooked to perfection while others were too tough or too raw. Pesto salmon was pretty good but the ones my sister got was too overcooked. Chicken marsala did not have much flavor. The capers meatloaf was too tough but the pieces my dad got were pretty tender. The bread is extremely hard, especially the crust. The calamari though was surprisingly good, the squid itself was super tender with a airy and well-seasoned bread coating. Overall pretty good space to hold an event at. One thing though is that parking is super difficult to find unless you want to pay a ton and park in a parking garage. read more

Came here for a friend's birthday and because we wanted to try the Dine Downtown SJ menu, while it was good value, I wasn't super impressed with the steak. Although all 4 of us had steaks, 2 out of 4 felt the need for more salt or flavor in the steak and the sauce. My Creme Brûlée tasted burnt (only the top, I know how hard it is not to burn it) but the inside was absolutely delicious. My starter was the tomato and mozzarella salad (aka caprese salad?) was not bad, I would have preferred more balsamic vinaigrette (theirs seemed runny & watery) and definitely more basil. We arrived round 2pm on a Friday and we were the only two people in the restaurant. This seemed odd to me at first, but then I figured everyone's still at work at it would get busy later. We ordered a variety of items: carpaccio, Chinese chicken salad, ahi tuna tacos & a burger to share. The burger was on happy hour and was a good deal for the price. Everything was delicious. I'd say my least favorite was the ahi tuna tacos. They weren't bad, but I could do without them next time. We also ordered creme brûlée for dessert (free dessert when checking in on yelp) and although tasty it was super tiny! I hope it's not the size If you have to pay for it, just saying. Lazy Sunday brunch at SJ downtown. We strolled into this place, thinking no frill standard fares. That's just about it. I was happy for the Space Dust on tap. The crab cakes were OK and the salad bedding too. The onion strings were on the greasy side, yet well flavored. Fish and Chips were of high-quality, particularly the thin fries were crispy, soft, hot, and well seasoned. Me and a few friends visited this bar Friday March 29th. Bar was very nice with really good music and a dance floor. Between myself and my small group of friends we easily spent over $400 on drinks. After about an hour and having bought 7-8 drinks myself (many for others) I simply asked for water from the male bartender. [We were a bit hot from being on the dance floor. ] The male bartender on the 2nd floor wanted to sell me a water bottle for $4. I politely asked for simply tap water, and he gave me a nasty look and just walked off. Genuinely amazed by how brazenly rude he was. Outside of that I thought the establishment was quite nice.
