Pool with winter cover still on in late June
    Chris B.

This is a weekly/ monthly rental that rents a few rooms by the night. Lots of families living here. Little kids wandering around with no adult supervision (we're talking 2 year olds, near a busy street). Advertising a pool to swim in but winter cover was still on in late June Stains on sheets (I'll post photos). This was almost $200 and was by far the worst place we ever stayed. (The extra $30 was for our dog). Very disappointed. We booked with Hotel Tonight (you get no chance to change your mind once you book). Won't be using them again either since this was a preferred place to stay on their site.

Blood all over the shower curtain

This place should be shut down!! I didnt even want to give it one star! I thought after seeing the sewage in the bathtub & sink it was bad enough but then seeing the blood & fecies all over the bathroom that drew the line!! Management was contacted & I was told "if I didn't like it I could find another place to go!!!" Which I of course did as I wouldn't let a farm animal stay in that room! The state has been contacted and I have high hopes this place will be shut down!! The owner needs to realize that here in the United States there are health guidelines that should be followed! Warning DO NOT STAY AT THIS DUMP!

Clean and spacious room. Our room had 2 separate sinks which I thought was great. Decks could use some work. Seemed a bit weathered. Nice view and beautiful pool area. TV was s bit small lol not like mine at home. Good shower with plenty of towels and wash cloths which is a big deal to my wife. Never understood why a room that sleeps four and they give you towels for two. Just going to say it's good enough place to stay for the night. Would like to add that the pillows suck so if you can bring your own

    Missing towel rods

Just a tad rich for my blood, plus I couldn't buy for one grandchild and not the other, so I purchased none. But I digress. The inn is old, very old in fact, but it is well appointed, and the rooms have been upgraded as much as possible. They are very small, but very clean and tastefully decorated with bunnies and all. The bed was super comfortable with great pillows. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We pretty much stayed to ourselves, but there were a number of common areas where we could've fraternized with the guests, played board games, read. The outdoor grounds were quite lovely, and in addition to a patio to sit on, there was a large grassy area to walk around, and I believe one could play croquet too... not positive about that part, though. There were no TV's in the rooms purposely, and I'm not sure there were any in the common areas either. I doubt we would've liked that if we had stayed longer than one night... but for one night, we survived. Funny and ironic how dependent we (and most people) are on being entertained by TV's. My only disappointment was, and I knew ahead of time, is that we were staying there on a night their main dining room was NOT open, so we didn't get to dine there. It probably would've been much better than where we did eat, and we would've had the convenience of being right there... but alas, it was not meant to be this time. Their pub was open, but the menu was quite minimal and not anything we were interested in. If ever we should pass through this part of Vermont in the future, I would love the opportunity to stay here again.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and we really enjoyed sitting in front of the fire place at night after a long day. My rabbit loving sister especially enjoyed all the rabbit decor. The food was amazing! We loved our breakfasts and the dinner we had at 24 Carat, as well as the drinks served at the snooty fox. Definitely one of the best places my mother, sister, and I have stayed.

The staff was warm and friendly. I only have one criticism. While the A/C was working, we had difficulty regulating it to feel comfortable. It was rather cold and clammy at night, but by morning, we felt fine. It wasn't so much the cold part that bothered me, but the clammy part was what got to me. Everyone kept saying how unseasonably hot and humid it was for Stowe, so who knows... maybe the A/C just had difficulty regulating itself... or we didn't know how to use it properly. It wasn't bad, per se, but it was a little uncomfortable some of the time. The room overall, though, was really great. Also, we loved that they had Netflix and Amazon Prime, so we could settle into the shows we were missing while traveling. That was a nice surprise ! Most hotels don't offer any of that. We had planned to dine out at one of the local restaurants, but we found out they were serving dinner at Grant's, the inn's restaurant. We were tired after traveling around all day, so we stayed at the inn and ate a great meal at Grant's. (See separate review for that.) Also, the common areas in the main building next to the restaurant are very tastefully appointed, spacious, with lots of games, books and sitting areas for people to utilize. We walked around them to see what there was but returned to our room to relax and watch some of our shows. My only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. One night in Stowe just isn't enough, especially at the Stowe Village Inn. Let's hope there will be a next time !

The price / night was reasonable, the breakfast included was very standard (coffee, tea, some breakfast pastries / bagels) but did its job to keep us energized for the days of exploring Stowe or hitting the slopes (!) The staff were nice, helpful and friendly. We look forward to coming back soon and staying when in Stowe.
