I am no pinball fanatic, but this pinball house in Lyons is awesome! Tons of classic, unique, and even modern machines available to play. Really enjoyed the Led Zeppelin and the Wizard of Oz machines as it was more modern and had various levels you could play on. If you got some time to kill while in Lyons check them out. read more

We love playing pinball so it is always an activity we seek out. Lots of games we had never seen before, both newer/modern games and old school pinball. We learned they have new ownership and they changed the format from pay as you go to a flat fee per person ($20) and allow you come and go all day with a wristband. Which is cool since they don't have food or adult drinks (but they do sell snacks and pop) so you could hop over to the Oskar Blue next door and come back. And probably a nice change for parents who want to entertain kids and not be both with them coming back looking for more quarters. We were just stopping in for a couple games so the $20/person was way too much for us. When we turned to leave the person working (maybe the owner) asked us how much we thought we were going to play and let us play on our honor for $5/5 games total between the both of us. We had fun and the games seemed well maintained. We will check back in the future, but don't think we would ever pay $20/person. read more

What a gem! This place is really special. They have over 50 pinball machines from the 60's to today. When you walk in, you're met with tons of machines and several different rooms with new ones to discover at every turn. It feels like walking into a loved one's home who instead of decorating with furniture has decided to fill every space with pinball. It's a well kept, clean establishment with machines for cashing out quarters and also an ATM if you forget your cash. I played about 1/3 of them so far and all were in good working order. It sucks when you want to play a game only to learn about something being broken or your quarters being eaten. Can't wait to go back. read more

We decided on visiting Colorado for vacation and would you look at that! There just happens to be a Pinball Tournament the night we arrive! From Denver International, we drove up toward Lyons, stopping just long enough in Longmont to pick up some kick butt BBQ. Check for my review in that elsewhere. We arrived in Lyons and we're lucky enough to find parking right in front. The joint wasn't open yet so we strolled the street for about a half-hour and then it was time to get warmed up for competition. Everyone from the owners to the players was friendly and no one gave me stink-eye for not being a local. The venue, while tight, held a terrific variety of pinball machines that were in excellent condition. The only thing that I could possibly wish for was a drink holder on every machine. A minor quibble since most Pinball establishments don't offer any. I would most definitely stop in again if I were in the Luons area. read more

Tons of machines to choose from. Many very popular titles and a few particularly rare ones too, like "Joust". The operator was very polite, but a bit awkward. I was honestly impressed with his knowledge and helpfulness. The whole building feels a little old and run down, but you're there for pinball, not aesthetics, right? I want to point out that of the 15-ish machines that I played, every single one worked 100%. If you play pinball at all, you know how frustrating it can be to play a machine which has not been properly maintained. Well done, Lyons Classic Pinball! Classic games, retro vibes, old school fun. We're up in Lyons a lot and while there aren't a ton of non nature-y things to do 'round these parts, Lyon Classic Pinball is a must. The pinball wonderland is located right on the main drag in Lyons, but it's pretty tiny (you could miss it if you're not careful). Don't forget to bring some quarters or cash for the coin machine--I don't think a card will get you very far in this establishment. They have a couple vending machines with snacks and drinks of the non-alcoholic variety (don't worry, if you're really needing a bev you can head next door to Oscar Blues before or after your game sesh). As for the games, well...I'm a child of the 90's and not really an expert. My boyfriend, however, is somewhat of a pro and dominates the Donkey Kong Jr machine every time we're in there. This arcade is mostly pinball machines (hence the name), but they do have a few of the 80's video games like Pac Man. Love me some good ol' fashioned fun! read more

I remember when I was just a little kid that I was automatically addicted to pinball machines. This addiction just got more intensive when video games came out. In the meantime I loved pinball machines! It has literally been eons since I last played a pinball machine and when I heard that Lyons had Lyons Classic Pinball I simply had to go try it! There is just about every genre (for lack of a better word) of pinball machine here. There is rock n' roll themed pinball (like Elton John and Kiss), there is sci-fi themed pinball, cowboy pinball and many more! Not all of the pinball machines are the same price to play. Some are just 25 cents while some are 75 cents. The more features to the machine the higher it is. They also have an video arcade game here too, it was a Tron game if I am not mistaken. Definitely a worthwhile stop if you are passing through or going to Lyons. Add Oscar Blues into the mix and it is all of the makings for a fun filled afternoon! read more

Honestly LPC is one of my favorite places on the planet. The hour drive from Denver is a breeze and always worth it. Acting as an arcade and a museum of sorts, LPC has games from the 1960's to current. Each game has a plaque above it giving the historic details of its existence. With over 30 games it's impossible to ever get bored. A mecca for pinheads and a must try for anyone living in or visiting Colorado. read more

This is one of the coolest places in Colorado. I grew up with at least one Gottlieb or Bally's pinball machine in the basement at any given time, and we had several over the years. Walking into this arcade instantly reminded me of my childhood. The arcade is more like a maze of 37 pinball machines that meander throughout the space. They have a nice mix of vintage and modern machines from the 1960s and beyond. And of course, they have the most important machine of all -- a CHANGE machine. Unfortunately, only a few are still 25 cents, most are 50 cents, and some are 75 cents. If left by myself, I could spend $20 in quarters and hours reliving my childhood bumping the machine aggressively until just before it TILTS!!!!!!! This is one of my favorite places in the world. I wish my father was still alive so I could take him here because he would have had a blast and I think of him every week when I'm there. There are generally 30 to 40 games ranging from the 50's (or earlier) to the present. The owners (Kevin and Carol) are great people that take pride in their games and keep them extremely well maintaned. If you don't know what to do ASK- they will help you with ANYTHING. I have been going to LCP for years now on a nearly weekly basis- a 45min drive from Denver each way and well worth it. Learning that pinball has strategey was the first step, take a few more and you'll be rewarded with Multiballs, flashing lights, awesome sound effects, and you never know what from game to game. If there's an afterlife I hope Lyons Classic Pinball existst there- seriously. read more

How can no one have reviewed this place yet?!? This place is AWESOME. If you like old pinball machines and old video games (we're talking PacMan, Ms PacMan, Donkey Kong), this is a MUST! All I need is a pair of roller skates on my feet and I'm back to my teenage years (oh, I may be dating myself here). They have so many different games and they change. They always have some of my favorites, although last visit I was slightly disappointed that the Addams Family was out of order. I guess that's to be expected though. The guy that owns this place is so nice. When it's not very busy, he'll give you tips about the games and how to play them to get maximum points. This is truly one of the coolest places that I've found in CO since my arrival and it's totally worth checking out. Had a few beers at OB and then headed over to LCP with the Mr. I blew through my quarters with some of the machines like they were nothin' but when I found the one that worked for me, I was in THE ZONE mang! Full-on concentration and focus engaged, nothing else matters! A lot of fun - some nice nostalgia for those days when I did dawn the door of places like this as a kid. Wow! Pinball machines!! We found it walking around Lyons after a short motorcycle ride from Broomfield. They are open Thursdays - Sunday and Thursdays are great for us! Bring cash I don't think they accept credit cards but making change is no problem. Three rooms full and lots of variety! I didn't see one "Out If Order". Lyons, Colorado isn't known for much. To most in the square state and those who wish they were, Lyons is probably most recognized as the place where Oksar Blues brews their fine beers and the host of both a serious bluegrass festival and a folk festival. To some of us though, Lyons is the epitome of a small Colorado town that hasn't seemed to change much in the last thirty years. They've got an old style ice cream parlor, a Main Street loop that's perfect for cruising and a fair share of wood carvers and beef jerky stands. Yet all of that pales in comparison to our favorite attraction in Lyons, the classic pinball arcade. We've been up to Lyons more times this year than you've probably been to the dentist in the last decade for this place. Lyons Classic Pinball is a smallish shack of a building that's stuffed to the gills with vintage pinball games. Everything from two player pinball, movie and music themed games, machines that your parents probably played on and ones based on shows that they're too old to get. There is even a gigantic Hercules pinball machine that kind of intimidates us too much to even try. But if you're intimidated by any of the other games there is a simple solution: ask the owner about them. Sure there are plaques hanging above each game telling you what year they were made in and why they're so special. And most have instructions on the different ramp shots, skill shots, lane changes and such on the machine itself somewhere. But getting a lesson from someone who's made a life around these machines is nearly priceless and he's always been more than happy to help us. Hopefully a lesson on how the professional pinballers play it can get you addicted to that sense of pride in lighting up all the targets, making the machine flash and rumble and getting your initials up on the scoreboard for everyone to admire. read more

I have been to this place 3 times now and I would consider it a must stop if you like pinball, or games in general, and are passing through Lyons! Actually, it's a must stop if passing through CO. I had to leave because my fingers were hurting, not because I wanted to, and not because I ran out of money. All the pinball machines seem to be priced at what they were when they came out, which is usually a quarter for the older machines and .50-$1 for the newer games. $10 in quarters lasts longer than the skin on the tips of my fingers. It is located right in the heart of the downtown area, so there are plenty of bars, eateries, and shops within walking distance. There isn't an abundance of parking right in front, but you can almost always find a spot within a reasonable walking distance, which actually adds to the enjoyment of the experience because you get to see more of downtown Lyons. Each time I have been there and had a problem with a machine, the employee working always resolved the issue. Not that it is common to have machines malfunction, but these are pinball machines and they do err on occasion. Good customer service from my experience. I like the fact that most machines have a sign above them telling you a little about the history. Some talk about the making of the game or interesting facts about when it came out. Some talk about the actual specific machine and where it came from before landing here. It gives you a better understanding of the game if you have not seen or played it before, and I found many of the facts to be quite interesting. They are constantly getting new games in and rotating games, so there is usually something new each time I visit. Whenever my parents come out to CO to visit we always make it a point to spend one afternoon here. The only improvements I could see would be if they were able to sell beer/liquor inside, and if they had longer opening hours. Neither of these are a big enough issue to take away a star from my rating, but if they had these I probably would live there. Now that I think about it, maybe that's why they don't serve beer or have longer operating hours. I suggest checking their website (which is usually well maintained and informative) before going just to make sure they will be open and operating when you plan to go. read more

The place has failed to evolve. Nothing's changed. And since the competition has gotten better lately, namely from PBJones and elsewhere, LCP has gotten worse on a relative basis. So they have been docked a star for the same old problems. In fact I don't even bother with them anymore and I'd say it's doubtful I ever return. This place is an absolute gem. It's so cool! Loads of pinball machines, from vintage to new. Everything worked just fine. It's a small, dark little arcade in an old building but I love that stuff. I wouldn't say it's kid friendly, as it's quite small inside. Better for older kids and adults. They have an old school vending machine for snacks and a tiny bathroom that has a shower in it. I love pinball, but the vast majority of my experience with the game consists of playing on beat-up machines in grimy dive bars. When I walked in to this spot, I felt like I had been admitted, albeit briefly, to pinball heaven. The most immaculately maintained machines I've ever had the good fortune to play and an owner who didn't scorn me for being far beneath his level of expertise, and, in fact, gave me a few tips including how to pull off the super skill shot on Medieval Madness! What's not to love about Lyons Classic Pinball, even if you're not crazy about pinball? I visited this place for the first time six years ago. Looking at the building from the outside, I thought that there might be a few pinball machines, but was surprised when I walked in and there were 40+ machines - classic machines from the 50's, and current ones as well. They also have a few of the more classic video games. It's fun to just rent out the whole place for an hour for a party or just for fun with friends before they open for normal hours and play as many games as we want without having to carry around quarters. read more

Walking into Lyons Pinball is like stepping through a time warp. One strides through the door and all of a sudden you feel young again. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable. I loved the 30 minutes he spent teaching me the secrets of Creature from the Black Lagoon. The facility is lit perfectly. Not too dark that one can't see the floor or playing field; but not so bright that it is disturbing or creates glares on the glass. Unlike some of the arcades of my youth, there is a definitive lack of loud bass heavy music; which is very nice. Just the sounds of those so wonderfully entertaining machines. It is a smoke free environment and very family friendly. The one downside is the somewhat limited hours; but that probably just curtails the quarter loss on my part. read more
