I love tapas style dinning. The portions are Lyra are meant to be shared and I got to try many dishes. The whipped feta dip was amazing. It was served with large slices of cucumber. We also tried the appetizer dip platter and that was served with warm bread. The beet appetizer was delicious, a little lemony, herbal and sweet. We tried the steak, the fried chicken and the scallops. Everything was flavorful and perfectly seasoned. I didn't really take pictures because the ambience of the restaurant is dark. I quite like a little darkness, makes the dining experience feel more intimate. Our server was pleasant. Got everything we needed and replaced spoons often for sharing. My one complaints would be that my plate was not changed at any point. Totally a personal preference but I enjoy having a clean plate when I switch from apps to entrees. The cocktail list was inventive and interesting. Definitely a must try. read more

Lyra is considered to be one of the top places to eat at in Nashville right now. With that being said, my expectations were high. Their menu is centered around middle eastern cuisine and is more mezze style. Lyra is located in East Nashville in a more suburban area making parking a little tricky. My mother and I love middle eastern food and we were really excited to eat here. We made a reservation for 2 on a Friday night more than a week in advance via Resy (which I would recommend considering their popularity). The interior is lovely with unique decorations to give the restaurant an inviting feeling. It was clean, comfortable, and cozy. The service was great! Our waiter was helpful, giving us a rundown of the menu, describing the flavors of a variety of dishes, and suggesting great options! We started with the pistachio whipped feta with black olive caramel, served with freshly fired pitas and cucumbers. It was really flavorful with great texture. This past summer we had the honey whipped feta from Butcher & Bee and still talk about how sensational that was today! Lyra's whipped feta has a completely different flavor to it and is much more savory. It is still good, but not as good as Butcher & Bee's. Next we ordered the Fatayer, which is essentially a stuffed baked pita. The Fatayer was filled with generous amounts of feta, red onion, and chard, topped with spices and olive oil. The both of us were blown away with how much flavor this dish had. The red onion was subtle and paired nicely with the chard and feta. It was quite large and I would recommend splitting it with two or more people. The cabbage fattoush was served next. It was served with a crisp pita laying overtop the cabbage based salad. You crack the crisped pita to break it apart and the broken pita pieces serve as croutons for the salad, adding an element of crunch. The fattoush had date vinaigrette, dried feta, walnuts, caraway, mint, and parsley. This was a great cabbage based salad with lots of flavor! The date vinaigrette added a slight sweetness, the walnuts added nuttiness, and the mint really gave it a refreshing taste. Then the octopus fasoulia arrived. Consisting of seared octopus with gigande beans in a tomato broth. The octopus was tender, the beans had great texture, and the tomato broth complemented the various elements of the entree nicely. Great dish! We both decided to splurge and indulge in their orange almond cake. This was probably the best part of the whole meal. The cake is super moist with an almond flour base, giving it a unique texture. The orange is subtle, but present, and the light, not overly sweet labneh icing was divine! Cannot forget to mention the aesthetic aspect of dish with the beautiful rose petals on top! Overall, Lyra was a great meal all around! The service is wonderful and very welcoming. The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm with a cozy feel. The food was of great quality and perfect for sharing! The menu was a wonderful mix of his favorite dishes from the Middle East with a featured edition of his one and only sourdough bread, which we had to try of course! Came here for a large group event and it was a hit! We reserved the backroom which was able to seat a group of about 20+ people comfortably. We had a family style meal with a preset menu that they brought out in waves. All of it was delicious. We had the: - Hummus with chili roasted turnips/candied onions, wood roasted jalapeño relish, and lamb merguez - absolute delicious, each component individually was so good and when mixed together was even better. I especially loved the lamb - Wood Oven Roasted Cauliflower - creamy and loved by the vegetarians in the group - Cabbage Fattoush - the pita toast that came on top was the perfect crispy complimented to the cabbage well - Beet Salad - delicious - Sausage Pinwheel - good - Eye of Ribeye - couldn't get enough of this, the steak was perfectly cooked and the potatoes and sauce were so good too - Ghapama - good - Pistachio Ice Cream Sandwich - unique and delicious, it comes on a sesame seed 'bun'/crisp and both the crisp and the ice cream in isolation were delicious, and together were divine - Tahini Brownie - this was fudgy and chocolaty without being overly sweet, so good To drink, I had the Shiso Fine which was one of the few things I didn't like on the menu. All the ingredients are things I would typically like, but I felt it tasted like soap. For my second round, I went with Strawberry Feels which tasted like a melted Sherbet and was so much betters! The servers were so great and attentive to the group and made the experience so enjoyable. My only qualm is that the service took a very long (ie the courses were spread out with long wait in between). This may have been by design given the time we reserve the room for, but I think we would have preferred a slightly more condensed service instead. I've seen Lyra recommended for awhile now and with some out-of-town visitors staying with us we felt it would be a great time to reserve a table and give them a try. I'm glad we did, but our experience was ultimately a mixed bag. We arrived on time and were seated instantly for a 7pm Friday evening reservation. It's a smallish dining room and it was packed. It was a tad bit loud but an overall great ambience/environment. Our server greeted us promptly and detailed the specials. We had great service throughout. Things started off highly promising with an order of the Hummus Collective sampler/platter. This dish was outstanding, a heaping platter of various hummus options, crispy fresh fried falafel, pistachios and all sorts of goodness in abundance. I'd give this dish a solid 5/5, possibly the best of its kind I've ever had. It was served with a heaping plate of warm, soft, fresh pita bread that was equally impressive. We ordered a few beers and cocktails all of which were great. Our server let us know as newbies to Lyra that everything was served family style and in portions larger than tapas but smaller than full entrees, she recommended we each order 2-3 dishes each and share with the table. There were four of us, so we ordered approx. 9 plates. They arrived as they were prepared, so it was a trickle of dishes culminating with the seared coluotte steak which arrived about 15 minutes after everything else. The steak was about a 2/5 for me and everyone else at the table. It was seared on the outside and rare-blue rare on the inside. Not a lot of fat in this piece and it was a bit chewy. It seemed very lightly seasoned. The end pieces with crispy exterior were tasty, the rest fairly unimpressive. Prior to that we had two of the mushroom-mozzarella, breaded crispy appetizers and they were pretty good (3-4/5). We had an order of the lamb sausages with was good, comparable with what you'd get out of that dish in most any middle eastern restaurant, but a very small (3 link) portion which seemed pretty pricey ($19) given that a comparable dish in another similar place usually runs $12-$14 for a much larger portion. The Kudhar Platter ($14) seemed even pricier given the scarcity of what was presented--2 small stalks of blanched asparagus and a variety of lettuce pieces. There was a small side of hummus which may have contained the snap peas and pita crumbles listed on the description but we were expecting a bit more. We tried the samak el souq, which features the market fish of the moment which was a piece of crispy halibut. The fish itself was good but the rest of the plate and the sauce itself lacked any real flavor (3/5). Two of us tried a glass of the massayh arak while we waited on our desserts--the traditional liquor drink of many middle-eastern countries, our server prepared it for us in the recommended fashion with water and 3 ice cubes. It's definitely not for everyone (a licorice somewhat bitter and very strong drink) but we both really enjoyed it. I'd recommend trying it once if you drink adventurously. The presentation reminded me of ordering absinthe in a bar. For dessert, our dining partners had a piece of the cheesecake and we had the chocolate tort. Both were smallish but very tasty. So all in all--the appetizers, drinks, and desserts were winners. But for the price (especially per portion), I don't think we'll come back for dinner. This place! Everything was gorgeous. The food. The decor. The restaurant itself. The pizza oven. The tables. You name it. I absolutely F E A S T E D here. Mediterranean food is my one true love and Lyra did not let me down. The hummus and whipped feta was delicious. The lamb ribs were the number one hit of the entrees and the almond & orange cake was the winner of the desserts. As you can see from the photos, every dish was picturesque. The colors, the playing, all of it -- so beautiful. My only issue was the temperature of the restaurant. It was already a hot day in Nashville and we were all very warm during dinner. Part of the reason could've been the pizza oven near our table, but it was very toasty for me personally. Our server handled our table of 8 with grace. She was on top of the entire service and I truly appreciated her timing throughout the duration of the meal. I will definitely be back and I can't wait to try new things next time I visit! read more

I visited Lyra with 2 friends. None of us have tried middle eastern food prior so we went with an open mind. Our server was fantastic. We picked the scallop and lamb sausage dish and let her fill in the rest of the food. She served us multiple courses that essentially turned into a tasting menu. The hummus with lamb was paired with the baba ganoush. Collectively, we all liked the hummus and pita better than the baba ganoush. After that my memory gets a little foggy to the name of the other dishes. The roasted cauliflower was the table hit (we are mostly simple eaters) with the squash filled with greens coming in right behind it. The waitress was the real hit more than the actual food. She was very knowledgeable about the dishes, and did a good job piecing everything together for us. There was a dish that was kind of fun. You had to crack the top with a spoon to reveal a salad inside. The scallops were a little undercooked when first brought to the table but seemed to continue to cook through as they sat for a few minutes. They were definitely made to go with the sauce at the bottom of the dish. On their own they were okay, but I really enjoyed the combination of the sauce mixed together so make sure to mix the dish up and sauce them. I enjoyed my mocktail, but I noticed it seemed a little salty. Other places I've been have made much better mocktails. If you aren't expecting something great, you will likely enjoy what they create. 3/5 on the drinks. I enjoyed it more than my friends, but I think this was a one time stop for me but we all enjoyed the experience. If you are a traditionally really healthy eater I think you will enjoy this more than the "meat and potatoes" crowd. read more

My friend and I enjoyed a couple of happy hour cocktails here and an excellent dinner. It was both of our first times and we got some hummus and steak which was fabulous! We're never had za'tar bread before so we tried that and it wasn't quite for us, it i brought it home to my partner who enjoyed it. Next came the shrimp .. it should've been delicious but it tasted unusually fishy to the point where it was hard to eat. It's listed as "fresh gulf shrimp" but as someone who has traveled several times to the gulf to eat shrimp, this did not at all taste like "fresh gulf shrimp". Apparently, only shrimp that has gone bad tastes this fishy ... Next came the steak. We requested medium rare but it came well done. Another cute date spot at an east nash staple. I loved the vibe as soon as I entered. We went on a weekday night around 6-7p and initially were told the wait would be about 30-40 min but we were actually seated at a table for 2 within 10 minutes. The service was splendid. The hummuses were AMAZING. We added the roasted turnips and jalapeño relish. So flavorful. The pita was soft and fresh. We also got the pistachio whipped feta. For veggies we got the baba ganoush of course which was a whole eggplant served charred with the skins and a bread to spread. The charred cabbage salad and the oyster mushrooms were also delicious. I had so many carbs by the time this came out that I didn't even eat the bread that came with the baba ganoush. For mains we got the duck, and octopus, both of which were delicious but I was so stuffed by this time that I had to box them for the next day, and instead saved the last bit of stomach room for the tahini crème brûlée. I was so impressed with Lyra on my first visit! We tried tons of things on the menu and there were so many great. The pita bread and hummus collective were fire! So fresh and delicious. I wish I could remember all the dishes we had that were my favorites, but I know I enjoyed the fried sweet potato dish, the katafi wrapped carrot, the fatayer, and a few others I can't remember the name. The reality is their menu changes regularly, but I'd definitely say take a chance on trying things here. Everything was super well done. The creative plates, the elegant setting (decorated with lots of camels!), and the super friendly service made the family-run restaurant Lyra an amazing place to experience a modern take on Middle Eastern cuisine! The hummus here was a definite highlight--smooth, creamy, and topped with Aleppo pepper oil and served with the most amazing freshly baked pita bread on the side, which was warm, fluffy, and chewy, and was on its own worth paying a visit to the restaurant! My favorite dish was the "Baba Ghanoush in its own skin," which was the most creative version of the classic eggplant dish I've ever seen. The plate came with half of a roasted eggplant topped with tahini, sumac red onions, and cilantro, served with lemon wedges and a crusty round of samoon bread on the side. The presentation of this "deconstructed" Baba Ghanoush was incredible, and the smokey eggplant, the creamy tahini, and the acidic onions all came together perfectly! Continuing on with the small plates, the Byd Fasulya was a soup of braised gigande beans with pickled vegetables, topped with a soft-boiled egg and sprinkled with mizthra cheese. The Kibbeh al Rahib were tiny fried beet and fava bean dumplings served in a tangy, cooling, creamy yogurt sauce with crispy spinach and topped with pickled vegetables. Finally, the Grilled Octopus came with a tender octopus tentacle served over a generous helping of ful (small fava beans) along with red cabbage and cilantro on top. We are from out of town and a party of 11 that decided to have dinner here. Nine adults and two children. They were able to seat us at 8:30 PM, which is the time our reservation was for, however it ended up being outside. It was muggy and hot and we were all a little bit uncomfortable but we were happy to be seated together at a nicely rated restaurant. We ordered the hummus platter with lamb sausage, baba ghanouj, cauliflower, and the whipped feta with cucumbers for appetizers. They were ok. The hummus was the best, served with hot fluffy pita. There was a huge piece of uncooked raw eggplant inside the baba ghanouj. We tried several of the dishes although most of what we wanted based on yelp reviews were not available on the menu as their menu changes often. I got the octopus which was pretty tender, not chewy at all but not very flavorful. It was served with a cold rice/orzo salad type side dish with some feta on top. The fish was the red snapper which was ordered by three people at our table and the portion was very small it came in a bowl with the sauce underneath it with no side. One person ordered the cardamom chicken and said it was good. One person ordered the lamb manti and I was extremely surprised to see how tiny it was! Panko chicken fingers available for the kids. Desserts were good. A roach landed on my sister's arm outside. And then possibly a different one or maybe the same one climbed on my husband's shirt as the waitress was coming back to us with our almost $500 check and she said "awe yeah they come out in the heat ha ha". Ummm no. Overall, server was nice. Pretty playing. Food comes out to be shared. They recommend 1-2 entrees per person???? Portions are too small and most without sides. The meals come out when they're ready. Ours were out just a couple of minutes apart in 3 batches. I felt like most of the food lacked salt and flavor. We had dinner at Lyra last night and we were really blown away by how much we loved our meal. We ordered a few dishes to share: the hummus with a jalapeño relish, the muhammara, the halloumi and the cardamom chicken. The hummus was flavorful, smooth and creamy and the jalapeño relish had a very nice kick to it. The pita served with the hummus was fresh out of the oven and just incredible. The Muhammara may have been one of my favorite dishes of the evening. It was the perfect mixture of savory, salty, sweet and nutty. The halloumi was served with arugula, peaches, strawberries and walnuts. All of the flavors worked so well together. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the cardamom seasoning was so delicious. It came with a garlic aioli, green peas, mushrooms and artichokes. We shared the pistachio ice cream sesame tahini ice cream sandwich... awesome! I think this may be my favorite restaurant in Nashville so far. Cannot wait to come back! read more

Amazing middle eastern food in Nashville -- who would've thought?? Came here for an early dinner during happy hour with my boyfriend. Happy hour is 5-6pm in the entire restaurant, so we got to take advantage even though we had a reservation & a table. Our server was super friendly & helpful with the menu. He consistently checked up on us to refill water & ask if we wanted another drink. I ordered the Foxy Brown and my bf ordered one of the bourbon drinks. Both were fantastic, but we loved the Foxy Brown so much we both ordered it for our second round. To eat, we ordered nearly the entire happy hour food menu: fries, fattayer, fatteh, pita & hummus. The flavors & the presentation of every dish were on point. The fries were salty, well-spiced, & came with a rich garlic paste, the fatteh was huge & delicious, hummus & pita was to die for, fattayer dough with hot, fresh, & stuffed with chard & feta. The portions were so filling -- we didn't even order any meat! -- that we couldn't finish it all. We ordered four cocktails & four dishes, so we were shocked when the bill came out to $50. Truly one of the best happy hours in Nashville. Looking forward to returning to try the dinner menu. read more
