This is the best takeout food I've had in quite some time. My friend and I wanted middle eastern food and blind picked this place. Holy sht it is so good. The food was excellent and all of it (hummus shawarma, falafel sandwich with fries and a bunch of different bite sized baklava) stood up well for reheating too. All I can say is YUM! I love love love this place and love the fact that they are not only a restaurant, but a market too. We were a large group staying at an Airbnb nearby and didn't feel like cooking but also didn't feel like going out. Instead - we were able to do a huge carry out order from the Market side. We ordered - shopped - and carried out dinner for 14 in under 45 minutes. They included everything we needed to serve and eat our meals. Clean and intimate, the establishment itself is very nice. We had to wait for the chef to arrive as we were told we were there earlier than opening which we either didn't realize or the hours are posted wrong. There were three couples lunching this weekend including us and we were seated comfortably in between open tables. The food was delicious but a bit simple for what I was expecting. I ordered the lamb shawarma which was to come with vegetable, tahini dip, and rice. I asked for tabbouleh instead of rice. My dish arrived without advertised vegetables but the meat serving was substantial so I didn't say anything. My husband had the lamb shawarma sandwich and he liked it very much. It wasn't something I personally was familiar with but it just smelled really nice. Anyways the people there were really nice and stuff. but THEN we saw that there was a mini little restaurant in the back so we HAD to get food. I got the Chicken Shawrama wrap? (I don't know if I spelled that right) My grandma got the some spinach and potato thing. The WRAP IS A 9/10. I wasn't expecting it to taste so good. Wow! Glad to have more ethnic food options in the Boro. Gave this place a try for dinner this evening and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere was very inviting and beautiful. The service was great and the food was amazing. They make fresh hummus which I've never eaten hummus before and was offered a sample to try. Let me tell you, I have a new snack option but pretty sure I will only want theirs. So this was my order: -Al Rayan Salad -Hummus -Chicken Shawarma Plate -Fried Kebbeh My intentions were to have dinner for myself and maybe a little for the kids. Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience. I had very high hopes, so I hate that I won't be coming back. I ordered the lamb shawarma plate to-go. I even checked by receipt to make SURE that I gave the correct order to the server. When I first walked in and it looked like they were closed, I should've just trusted my gut and walked back out. However, I really wanted to give this place a try, and when the server greeted me, I asked if the restaurant was open, and she said yes. I didn't want to be rude and just walk out. When my order of food came out, I couldn't believe what I saw. I was given BEEF that was so overcooked and hard, I couldn't even chew it. It was INEDIBLE. Also, there were chunks of fat all throughout the meat that was on top of the rice. The 'salad' was just enough to fit in my palm, with no type of dressing or garnish, which is not what I am accustomed to when eating at a variety of other establishments with similar cuisine. In the other part of the tray, there was a dressing that might have been aioli. Their menu clearly states this description for the lamb shawarma plate: "Fresh from the spice shwarma lamb. Served with vegetables, mixed pickles and tahineh dip and a side of basmati rice." That is NOT what I was given, even though that is what I ordered and paid for. I don't even have a picture because I threw the plate away. It was inedible. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back. read more

First time in and was disappointed with our meals. Chicken Shawarma wrap lacked flavor (tasted like plain grilled chicken) and my lamb shawarma platter had very little meat. Mind blown by this Palestinian establishment. Super duper good food and ridiculous amounts of food for what you pay for. It is tucked away behind their market. It looks shady as hell at first in the location it is in, but once you get in there, you'll realize it was a great decision. Solid service and cuisine. I could have stood the server to wear her mask properly, but she did eventually put it over her nose when she brought us our water and food, just not on initial contact. We had on our masks when interacting with her. Also, we were the only people in the restaurant. This is a place I would totally visit again. I honestly don't know what took me so long to come and try this place out. It's truly the best in Murfreesboro. I have finally found authentic middle eastern food, quality is amazing, prices are very reasonable. The hummus was out of this world, best I have ever had. Just incredible this little gem in town. I will definitely be back. I went again recently to try the new buffet. The place was gorgeous on the inside. The decor was more Indian style rather than middle eastern which was confusing. Taj Mal is in India. They had one server, who didn't speak much. He was sort of rude. I went with my friend and my son. My son usually doesn't eat a full amount of food from buffets. I feed him before we arrived. We all sat down. To keep my son busy, I gave him my salad I took off from my plate. There wasn't much options on the buffet. There was a green beans stew, okra and beef, lamb mixed with some vegetable. Also baked chicken, and lentil soup. That looked like it was suppose to be dhal. So the only option for me were the chicken and lentil soup and some of the green beans. The cold bar had tiny trays of hummus, eggplant, cucumber dressing and two type of regular salad. There was no additional pita bread except one piece that was sitting there on a white plate. Where anyone could of touch or sneeze previously. There was no sneeze guard which I found odd. Isn't that a health code violation? Especially if there are flies flying around? The food is just open and halfway covered with a metal tray. So I asked for a fresh pita bread. The guy told me to take the one on the table but I told him I would like a fresh one. He said he would bring it out. After 15 min there was no pita bread. I asked again for pita bread, he bought the same one that was sitting on that buffet. He bought it to my table and said here, I didn't have any space to put it anywhere. Since my plate had chicken and rice and salad already. I took the plate he was serving the pita bread from and he seemed to be shock I was taking that plate. Where did you expect me to put the pita bread? On the bare table?? Besides this, he did go around giving a 1 free falafel ball to each customer. I thought that was a nice gesture. When the bill came, I was charged for 2 adult buffet and 1 child. I was never charged for a child's buffet when I didn't take a plate or feed him a full meal. I was shocked. I guess that salad off my plate didn't count towards my buffet price at $12.99. Their lunch buffet price is also ridiculous. You can easily go to clay pit or any other lunch buffet and pay half that price. I wasn't in the mood to argue. All my son had to eat was the salad from my plate, that I took for my self. He had 2 tiny bites of the chicken and maybe 2-3 spoons of the rice from my plate. That was it. Still they charged $5.99 When I went to the other Indian places where my son actually ate a fthey didn't didn't charge him anything. He is under the age of 4. One thing for sure, I won't be coming back to this place for the buffet or recommend it to anyone. I have in the past recommend this place to everyone and anyone I have come across. I still left a generous tip. P.S don't order uber eats from this restaurant they will rip you off and give you half of regular food amount. Their excuse was they gave half portion of the food because it was through uber eats. So you pay the full price as you would in the store but don't get the same amount of food. Then they change their wording to, so we don't give rice with those certain plates I ordered. Please don't pull that BS with me. I've been ordering to go orders with you guys over the past 1 year and ordered the same thing it always came with rice. read more

The BEST Hummus I have ever had! I am originally from Detroit, where I had a lot of opportunities for really good hummus. No one makes better hummus than Al Rayan. Hamad, the owner, is a true genius with Middle Eastern Cuisine. I have made a habit of ordering every Friday night for our family and friends and they never disappoint. We get their falafel platters, chicken and beef shwarma, as well as their fattoush salad, and of course their hummus and fresh pita bread. It is the best meal I have ever had. Do yourself a favor, order online or in person, get a sampling of several dishes (get the hummus!) and when you go and pick it up, ask for Hamad and say hi. Then the next time you order (there will be a next time) bring a friend. NOTE: They are not doing their buffet anymore, but if it comes back, that is a great way to enjoy all of the dishes that Al Rayan has to offer. read more

Took my car to the dealership and decided to walk over here to check out the market and restaurant. Note - the restaurant door is around the back right of the store. I ordered the hummus and falafel, and can honestly say it's both the best hummus and best falafel I've ever had. Plus they give you plenty of the softest pita to go with. I ordered the chicken and lamb shawarma, which I would give 7/10 only because the meat was just a little dry. The rice was a 10/10 so good. Definitely come check it out and support local. Since moving to Murfreesboro we hadn't tried any local middle eastern restaurants and tonight we decided to try Al Rayan. I looked at their online menu and saw so many delicious things so it was hard to decide what all to order. We ended up ordering a bunch of different things and every single thing was absolutely DELICIOUS. We placed an online order and that was very easy to navigate and the food was ready in a short time. When my husband went to pick up the food they had it all ready to go and even threw in a box of juice to go with our meal. This will definitely be a regular place for us to order from. The most authentic Middle Eastern food I've found in Rutherford County... the lamb tastes like lamb, the proportion of different ingredients and flavors of each dish is perfectly balanced, and the portions are generous. This is the only restaurant I will consistently order delivered because it is always wonderful, and sometimes I just crave their Beef Shawarma Plate. Went there after a soccer game with the boys around 2 pm on a Saturday. The dining area had only one other party. The hostess was very welcoming and informative. The setting decor is relaxing with middle eastern music in the background. The boys wanted shawarma sandwiches. We trice chicken lamb tawook and maqale sandwiches. All come with crispy tasty fries. All come cut into 4 pieces. The meats juicy. The Maqali sandwich is vegetarian option with fried eggplant cauliflower and falafel. Great combination. Good sauces as far as garlic sauce and tehini sauces. We started with hummus appetizer which h was excellent made from scratch. The falafel appetizer also was excellent. The falafel is crispy on outside and soft on inside. We strongly recommend this restaurant plus also the bakery in the back of the market. This review is based on a catered event, so I got to try lots of different dishes but have not experienced the decor or the service. I plan on checking it out some more. Hummus - This was the creamiest hummus I've ever eaten. A bit light on the tahini, but very flavorful none the less. Great balance of flavors. According to my son, you could spread it on a car bumper and the bumper would taste great. Baba Ganoosh - Excellent. Very smooth, and again, a great balance of flavors. (Had to educate those at my table as to what it was.) Salad - Great tomato flavor. I loved it. Everything else was fresh and the dressing was light and brought out the flavor of the vegetables. Falafel - Golden orbs with a bright green center of parsley. Wonderful balanced flavors, yet again. Baklava - This was GREAT - but. This restaurant is billed as a bakery also. The desert was served on foil trays that looked like they came from a commercial bakery. Never mind. They were yummy. read more

What a great place! We found it through Yelp reviews and were not disappointed in any way. We were looking at the menu and were approached by one of the employees who began making suggestions for our table. He told us he would take good care of us and he kept to his word! We had platters of lamb and chicken, a serving of falafels, hummus and rice. We were a group of happy people! The presentation is very appealing. There was plenty for all of us and some to take home. The lamb was some if the best I've had as it wasn't too heavily seasoned. The store itself was we well-stocked and clean.
