    Dirty moldy shower door

This hotel is overpriced, outdated and smells like sewer everywhere. Food is horrible and Customer service is the worst I've ever seen. DO NOT book this hotel. HORRIBLE.

Located on the right side of the island and a five minute walk to the town center. The resort is all inclusive -spa is separate. To enter the property you must cross a small bridge and go through security. No visitors allowed. If not a guest, you must pay a large fee to access the private beach and amenities. The rooms are decent. Nothing luxurious but my ocean view was great. (Photo included) Lots of sea bids making noise outside along with crashing waves. The private beach is sandy and the water calm, clear and very warm. Not too many fish for snorkeling and the depth is around knee high for quite some time. There are tables and beach chairs set up to relax for the day. An open bar is not to far away next to the swimming pool and great for taking advantage of the all-inclusive drinks. Unfortunately they tasted a little watered down. I just had the mesero bring me a cup of tequila to sip off of. Definitely not pure. Not worth the all-inclusive for drinks. Only one restaurant was open during my visit. It was buffet style food. In the morning they would make you an omelette fresh, but had a ton of other selections. The downtown area has really good seafood, it would be a shame to just dine here. Definitely not a culinary adventure. The spa had excellent massage therapists, but way overpriced for Mexico. Almost double what I pay in LA area. I like a massage every day while on vacation, so I found some places within walking distance that were pretty good. Depending what you pay and are in to, this may or may not be the place for you. Nice sandy beaches are not that common on the island, except the public one a few hundred feet away in front of the hotel priced about 75% less. I myself enjoyed the security and accommodations. I also came at a time where the public beaches were closed due to COVID. The hotel having a private one, allowed me access. This was a deciding factor that I think has been removed. If I could do again in regular times, I would just stay at a non-all inclusive and experience the towns culture through food and entertainment.

Perfect location, amazing staff, and good food. Facilities could use some work but the location was perfect.

    Our broken slider handle

First, let me start by saying that I rarely write reviews...but our experience at the Mia Reef was so bad that I felt compelled to sit down and write a review. We have been coming to Isla Mujeres for 14 years. This was the 3rd and very LAST time we would ever stay at the dump hotel called Mia Reef..go any place else but here!!! We have visited the island 20+ times and have stayed in everything from a $ 26-a-night room on the beach to renting an entire Villa for a week on the southern point at Punta Sur with private chef service and a pool. We are the type of travelers that can backpack around and just "wing it," or we can check in to the Four Seasons hotel and get room service. It's important to know we are NOT bouge travelers. Honestly, one of our best stays was our $26 per night room with great AC, hot water, and clean sheets, but I digress; onto the Mia Reef review. So, let me say that we booked it through the site MiaHotelsAndResorts.com. Our booking agent was Gloria Mex, who is based in Cancun. Here are the FACTS of our booking: 3 Deluxe Ocean View rooms for six nights at $414 a night per room ($7452). Below is the breakdown of what the rooms were supposed to be: 1 room was supposed to be a king bed for my husband and I 1 room was supposed to be two full/queen beds for our sons (grown adult men) 1 room was for our daughter (any bed option was acceptable) So here's what happened on our arrival. We checked in, and the desk agent handed us the keys to 5014, 5015, and 5016, which I found out later are NOT ocean views; they are bay/lagoon views. I asked if they were king beds or what the bed situation was. He replied, "They all have one queen bed each." Cue to my immediate dissatisfaction with that news...our one son is 6'4", and I don't expect our grown adult sons to share a queen bed, seriously?! Anyway, I said it was unacceptable and not what we had booked. My husband immediately started looking on Airbnb because we would not spend a week with our grown adult children and would sleep uncomfortably. After all, the Mia Reef could not give us the rooms we booked. It was a clear case of misrepresentation, and it left us feeling frustrated and deceived. Our room: The guy behind the desk finally acted like he was doing us a favor by giving us a different room; he said, "Oh, I'm giving you a very good room with a view." Well, upon arriving at our room 6003 (with a king bed), I looked at my husband and said, "This is supposed to be our view; we paid for the "Deluxe Ocean View" room to begin with." Moving on, we are in our room. Here are the general issues we had with our room: Bathroom faucet, when you turn it on, hits the mirror. There's no counter space at all to lay out a toothbrush and lotion, and all we brought was a toothbrush and sunscreen, again this wasn't a bouge trip by any means. The shower was moldy and disgusting and leaked everywhere on the bathroom floor. The bottom dresser drawer in the room was in the open position the whole time and falling away from the wall. We took a throw pillow from the bed and closed the drawer by putting the pillow in front of it to keep it closed so one of us didn't break a leg when we walked by at night. The door handle on our slider was broken; how hard is it to take a set screw and an Allen wrench and fix it? Our son's room: Our sons were given a room with two beds, 4023 (lagoon, NOT ocean view, as we paid for). It wasn't until I saw their room on the third day that I saw it wasn't two beds but one full/queen bed with a roll-away cot (twin) for our other son; talk about shady bait and switch-on room reservations. The hotel, in general, is dinghy, dirty, and in need of significant updates and repairs. I wouldn't be surprised if the hotel owner(s) are literally just pocketing the money and living high on the hog while the hotel continues to turn into an enormous pile of poopoo year after year. Outside by the pool, some jerk put diapers in the table thing to hold drinks, and the diapers were there for over three days along with other dirty glasses. There is plaster from the building just laying outside that has fallen off. Again, the fish stinks from the head and if the owner(s) don't put the money back into the maintenance of the hotel, well shame on them! Don't even get me started on the sales guys who linger in the lobby, always trying to get your attention so they can sell you a timeshare. I told them the hotel was a POS, and they left us alone after that. The bottom line is DO NOT STAY HERE. It's way overpriced for what you actually get. AI is NOT worth it here.

If you plan to vacation on Isla Mujeres, a few night's stay at Mia Reef is a must. The all-inclusive hotel on its own is average, but the beach! The beach is its bread and butter. Mia Reef is located right on prime real estate - with the best views, snorkeling, beach and tourist attraction: King's Pool / Piscina del Rey. The beach along Mia Reef is where ALL of the tour boats and excursions post up to snorkel and swim. If you have kids, this is a great all-inclusive resort because you can sunbath and still watch your kiddo 10-feet away in the crystal clear water just up to their tiny little ankles. They also have a pool, games and activities all day (morning yoga, dance classes, kids activities, nightly kid-friendly performances). Food was okay - my sister and I mainly dined at the ceviche bar. Micheladas were top notch. The resort also has free bikes to rent, which you can take across the bridge and into town for day exploring. Staff was really friendly, check-in is at 3pm; check-out is at noon. They offer room service but it's not included in the all-inclusive. King's Pool / La Piscina del Rey is a nature made swimming hole located right on the Mia Reef property, and you can walk over for a swim. However, due to seasons and the tide, it does close. We were there in October and the pool was engulfed by the ocean, so no access was allowed. Non-hotel guests are able to pay a daily rate (believe it was $75) to access King's Pool and hotel amenities. We rented a premium room with direct access to the beach and our own cabana. My only complaint about our stay was we never got room slippers - which was much needed since the outside humidity mixed with cold rooms creates condensation on the floor (plus sand). If you are NOT with kids, do stay here but I think 2 nights is enough. Do 2 nights at Mia Reef and then a few more nights across the bridge and closer into town for more action. But again, THIS BEACH!

We love Mia Reef. The staff are wonderful. Room is well kept and clean. We became members in 2019. Lots of perks with membership! Spa is so great, best massages we have ever had! The buffet is very nice for the whole family. Very kid-friendly. They had Disney character show one night! Beautiful beautiful beach. We cannot recommend this place enough. We have been to Puerto Vallarta and a few other resorts in Cancun area, but loved this one the best. We go at least once a year. The island is so fun to drive and spend a day shopping. You rent a golf cart. The catamaran sunset cruise is beautiful and we had a romantic dinner one night that was delicious with a beautiful view.

The outside area is a 5 but the room was a 2. The beach the water and the staff was AMAZING!!! The pool was nice and the beach is amazing... the water was the perfect temperature. For a resort the food was not bad, except that restaurant on site that you make reservations for... SKIP THAT. We dined along with at least 3 other groups/couples that left and went to the buffet after. At the buffet the morning omelettes were a winner. The lunch pasta bar was always great. Dinner was always changing which actually was nice. But the room... I could get past the size because our view was breathtaking but being right by the ac units we couldn't really enjoy the balcony because of the hot air pumping from the machines. The pillows were AWFUL. Our shower head moved. (It was in the ceiling, see pictures) Mold around our faucet on the sink. (Pictures) a clear case, in general of redoing a hotel and deciding to cut corners, not patch, and not invest in wood glue.

It is hard to rate this place. The beach can not be beat, the snorkeling is right there its beautiful. Most of the staff are good. The hotel itself needs work. I don't really know where to start. Food, Breakfast is good, lunch is OK you can get shrimp tostadas, burgers, dogs, wings, nachos, dinner wasn't great at the buffet or restaurant but you should be able to find something edible. The hotel is not handicap friendly at all! I would highly recommend not staying here if you have mobility issues. We had many issues that came up during our stay but here are a few. Check in, we were 3 ppl for our room. Our res was for a room with 2 beds in the main hotel. They said they didn't have any and were giving us an "upgrade to a villa". This villa was more like a punishment lol.The villa had 1 bed so my son had to sleep on a rollaway. I need a knee replacement and the villa we got was the very furthest room from the resort and up 2 flights of steps. We lost power several times (hot no aircon) and our toilet stopped working at one point and the shower water smelled like rotten eggs. When you gkt.out you smelled like a hot fart, seriously. You can not flush the toilet paper out there (we didn't) The swim up bartender refused to wait on us. He would wait on every Spanish speaking customer no problem. He would just look at us. We were tipping a dollar a drink so that wasn't the problem. Us being white non Spanish speaking seemed to be. He also ignored a woman who ordered 1 drink and waters for her kids. Took 15 min for her to get it. He just kept washing dishes so it wasn't just us.His name was jeorge I believe. Drinks that come from the ceviche bar are the best. Our favorite waiters were Mike and Jerry!! They have no map of the hotel (we asked) and give you zero info about what they offer activities or food places. I didn't find out about the Burgers and wings for lunch until half way through our stay. There is one restaurant area that requires reservations the menu switches every other day but it only has two menus so if you eat there 2X you are eating the same stuff. There isn't enough water in the fridge to stay hydrated and make morning coffee so I went to the lobby to get coffee. The machine didn't work. I went down 2 days later they replaced the machine and it still didn't work! I tried to "rent" snorkle equipment every day and was told no we need it all for a class. Thes are A FEW of our issues. This isn't a high end resort and the price reflects that. Most of the waitstaff work their asses off to make your stay nice however if you are expecting the Ritz this is more a holiday inn....Also the villas are absolutely covered in bird shit...it smells and I am not exaggerating. DONT STAY IN THE VILLAS

As a disclaimer, I would like to start by saying that I did book the Viento Suite. I don't know if…read morethat is the reason we received the level of hospitality and service that we did, but I'm hoping that guests staying in standard rooms received the same spectacular experience! Due to having a suite, we had butlers Romero and Isaías, and they were both AMAZING. They were extremely attentive, and whatever we needed was never an issue. If we asked for something, it was done quickly and without hesitation. You honestly couldn't ask for better service. We also had access to the Aqua Club, which was open from 7 AM-10 PM and offered premium liquor along with light snacks for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The waiters there--Daniel, Guillermo, and Eduardo--were great! They were even willing to make us our favorite shots that they had never heard of (blowjobs... Google it ), but they made them anyway! The lounge itself is super relaxing, with spectacular ocean views from the 5th floor. Now, onto the part we ALL care about the most: THE FOOD! There are several restaurants on the property to choose from, but our absolute favorite was Hidden Garden, which is Asian-inspired and run by Chef Mario. Everything we ordered was spectacular! Chef Mario even came out to our table, greeted us personally, and provided us with a menu curated by him--which I'm assuming was because it was my birthday... lol. They also have one paid restaurant called Carnivore, which is a steakhouse. Now, I am a self-proclaimed steakhouse snob, so I have to keep it real: for the price, it was mid. But for a resort steakhouse, it was good. The rest of the food throughout the resort was WAAYYYY better than expected--even the poolside grill and the food you can order directly to your cabana. Everything was well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. The ribs they made at the poolside grill every day were FANTASTIC! The head of culinary at the resort, Mr. Germain, is definitely doing what needs to be done because the food was consistently impressive throughout the property. Now, the second-most important thing for most people: NIGHTLIFE. Personally, I came to relax, and the overall vibe of the resort definitely gives relaxation. However, they do have a nightclub called Egos, which stays open until 1 AM. I went once, but it wasn't really my music or my vibe. If you're looking for more of a nightlife scene, I would suggest heading into the city. BUTTTT... if you love a good pool party, make sure you hit the Moët Pool Party because BABYYYYYY... it was LIT! Overall, the resort exceeded my expectations. The service, food, atmosphere, and attention to detail made for an amazing experience, and I would absolutely consider coming back!

However, what truly struck us both this time was the incredibly warm treatment we received. A hotel is only as great as its staff, and the team here is what makes it special. We booked a club-level oceanfront room, which included butler service. Our butler, Arturo, absolutely came through for us. He handled our restaurant and cabana reservations ahead of time and was instrumental in securing a late check-out on our final day. The dining at this all-inclusive is superb. For breakfast, Siete offers a decent buffet, and our waiter, Helvert, was incredibly kind and always took the time to chat with us. For dinner, DB was our top choice for elegant continental dining, complete with a live pianist. The manager, Susana, provided excellent service, the food was delicious, and the chef even came out to greet us. We also loved Hidden Gardens, a relaxed Asian-fusion spot with tasty food, impeccable service, and another welcome visit from the chef. During the sweltering day, the pool is the main draw. Lalo was always helpful in securing our requested cabana. They cost an extra $115 each time, but they are completely worth it to escape the intense sun. Our pool waitress, Marysol, befriended us and knew exactly what non-alcoholic drinks to bring us. My wife is a big coffee drinker, so we frequently stopped by the included Starbucks, where David the barista gave excellent service and loved chatting with me about World Cup soccer. Also, a big shoutout goes out to Lady and Daisy at the spa. They gave my wife and I heavenly massages. However, the absolute heart of the entire hotel is Marco, the extraordinary juicer at Siete! His positivity, jokes, and contagious smile drew a long line of people waiting for his blended drinks every morning. Thank you to everyone for making our trip so memorable!

We were behind a group that did not have their bracelets, and they were asked to pull over to the side while the hotel confirmed they were all guests. The resort is huge, and everyone was getting lost even though there is a physical map as well as an interactive map on their app. But after day one, we got the hang of the layout. It definitely does not make me want to return back to Atelier. The management such as Gabriel & Diego need some serious help & more training in management skills. They should train under Forbes Hospitality Training Program like the managers/staff at Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman. Go there if you want exceptional stellar guest services. Every mgr & staff person @ RC GC go over beyond for each of their guests. We chose this property to celebrate our wedding anniversary, a special occasion we had hoped would reflect in the exceptional hospitality and attention to detail for which this resort is known. As seasoned travelers who regularly stay at five-star luxury properties around the world, we understand that occasional issues can arise; however, what distinguishes an exceptional resort is how effectively those issues are resolved. The issues we feel in this case were not resolved during our stay. Shortly after checking in early July, we discovered that the toilet seat was loose & unstable, shifting significantly during use and creating both discomfort and a potential safety concern. My spouse actually fell off of the toilet seat. We promptly reported this issue in person to the front desk & were informed that the maintenance team will address it, but the problem remained unchanged. The toilet seat was never fixed during our entire stay. The lack of proper follow-through on such a basic maintenance matter was disappointing & not what we expected from this luxury resort especially during our special anniversary celebration. A more frustrating issue occurred the afternoon before our departure day. After spending the whole, hot & humid day at the pool, we returned to our room wet, sweaty & sticky ready to shower only to find that our room key fob had been deactivated. We were locked out of our room in wet swimsuits hot & uncomfortable. There are no phones around in the hallways to call the front desk. Due to the very large size of this resort, we then had to walk a considerable distance back to the front desk to have our key fobs reactivated. This inconvenience could have been avoided. We asked why both of our key fobs had been deactivated prematurely & we received no response. These issues reflect lapses in both maintenance follow-through, guest service & guest experiences. At a property of this caliber, guests reasonably expect reported issues to be properly resolved & room access to remain available until the designated checkout date & time. Atelier Playa Mujeres was on the 2025 Forbes Travel Guide & its reputation for luxury & exceptional hospitality were the reasons why we decided to stay there for our first time. There are many other luxury resorts such as Nizuc, Le Blanc or Live Aqua in Cancun competing & vying for the same category of repeat guests. Whilst there were aspects of our stay that we enjoyed, these avoidable service failures significantly affected our overall anniversary experience. After checking out & whilst waiting in the lobby for our transportation, Diego Gonazalez, the front desk manager approached us to ask about a couple of issues we experienced during our stay. Upon listening to our concerns & praises to some of their staff, we felt dismissed and not taken seriously after speaking with him. Diego was not effective at all in addressing our issues at all. Because we were displeased & frustrated with a lack of response from Diego, we asked for the General Manager's e-mail hoping that the future guests will not experience what we did. What a waste of time! On a positive note, the food here is above average with many offerings in various restaurants. Need reservations for most of them. Los Abrazos was our favorite. There are some rock star staff at this resort: Byron (bellhop), Gerardo (Los Abrazos), and Alfonso (main pool waiter).

My husband and I were grandfathered in under our 2004…read morecontract, which gives us access to Palace Resorts properties, including future locations, although some may require a day pass. Overall, our stay at Moon Palace Cancun was pleasant, but it could have been much better. This was our first time bringing family, and we had two Deluxe Jacuzzi rooms. AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION Transportation was included, but Palace Resorts needs to better communicate where guests should meet their driver outside the airport. Adding the stall or meeting location to the app would make arrival much easier. PALACE RESORTS APP The app is extremely helpful for keeping track of activities, excursions, dinner reservations, spa services, and other details throughout your stay. MEMBER CHECK-IN The member check-in process was ridiculous because of the constant push to attend a "breakfast" to hear about new Palace Resorts properties. Let's be clear: it's ultimately a push to get you to purchase more. We've attended before and lost most of a vacation day, so I repeatedly said NO. Yet for three days, different people continued asking us to attend. Eventually my husband had enough and yelled, "NO!" before they finally left us alone. Meanwhile, what I actually wanted was to schedule our excursions and resolve issues with our Palace Resorts Plus benefits and resort credits. We received 750 resort credits per room--1,500 total--but they weren't on our account. Our Plus Membership benefits were also an issue. Despite triple-checking everything before arriving, we had to contact Palace Resorts headquarters while on vacation to get it resolved. 750 RESORT CREDIT SPECIAL The resort credits sounded great when booking, but they were extremely limited. At the resort, we could basically use them at one store for select beach hats and purses--not snacks, tumblers, or many other items. There was also only one excursion we could use the credits toward, and it wasn't something we were interested in. So while 750 credits per room sounds impressive, the restrictions significantly reduce their value. EXCURSIONS Our membership included two tours, a 25-minute massage, manicure, and pedicure. Only certain tours were available on specific days. Because of the sargassum, we also couldn't enjoy many water activities. There were other tours available, but it was extremely hot, and I wasn't interested in spending eight hours outside in that heat. VACATION PLANNER Our vacation planner royally screwed up BOTH tours we planned with our family! The excursions appeared as confirmed in the Palace Resorts app, but apparently he never completed the reservations with the actual excursion companies. Two mornings in a row, our family woke up extremely early, got ready, and waited for transportation that never came. We later discovered we weren't actually booked. What the hell?! This was one of the most frustrating parts of our vacation because we brought family with us and planned our time around these experiences. RESORT-LIFE Moon Palace Cancun consists of Nizuc, Sunrise, and The Grand. We stayed at Sunrise. Guests can move between Nizuc and Sunrise, while access to The Grand may require a day pass if you're not staying there. Despite our issues, the resort itself is great! The property is beautiful. The food, housekeeping staff, lobby drivers, and entertainment are awesome. My biggest complaint is that the rooms seriously need updating. We purchased our membership in 2004, and the rooms still look very similar to what I remember from back then. Palace has added restaurants and expanded the property, but the guestrooms need attention--especially considering what it costs to stay here. And the pools? The water was warm as hell! In the Cancun heat, you want to jump into a refreshing pool, but the water provided little relief from the sun. Overall, Moon Palace Cancun remains a beautiful resort with great food, entertainment, and hardworking staff. We enjoyed our family vacation, but the aggressive member breakfast push, missing benefits and resort credits, limited credit options, and two messed-up excursions created unnecessary frustration. After more than 20 years as a Palace Resorts member, there's still plenty I love--but there are definitely areas where the experience could and should be better.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel other travelers deserve to know about our experience…read more We booked through a member referral because we were promised a $400 cash promotion. Unfortunately, the entire experience was extremely disappointing. We spent almost an entire day attending presentations and listening to staff explain the promotion and membership. Instead of enjoying our vacation, we lost valuable vacation time. In the end, it felt like the promotion was designed to get us into a long sales presentation, and we left feeling completely misled. The most upsetting part was how my husband was treated. The staff repeatedly asked him if he spoke English and whether he understood what they were saying. Because he does not speak English, we were told we did not qualify for the $400 cash promotion. It was embarrassing, uncomfortable, and made us feel like we were being judged because of the language we speak. If speaking English is a requirement for this promotion, it should be clearly disclosed before guests book their stay or before they spend hours attending a presentation. This would save people from wasting their vacation time and avoid unnecessary frustration. Another disappointment was the lack of activities for older children. At both Nizuc and Sunrise, there was very little for kids around 9 years old to do outside of the swimming pools. If your children enjoy activities beyond swimming, they may become bored. We came to Moon Palace expecting a relaxing family vacation, but instead we spent hours in a sales presentation and left feeling frustrated, disappointed, and misled. Based on our experience, we will not be returning to Moon Palace. I also cannot recommend this resort to friends or family. I hope Moon Palace becomes more transparent about its promotions and treats all international guests with equal respect, regardless of the language they speak.

I really enjoyed they have a lending library and I got to pickup a book while there. In usual fashion, pool chairs were reserved as soon as the day starts which made it harder to find a prime seat. They also had a competition at the pool area that was entertaining to watch. We arrived late and asked for bottled water, and were told to just drink the sink water... in Mexico. That alone set the tone. I also repeatedly emailed our concierge for assistance and received no response whatsoever. Our room smelled like mold, and the sheets were damp. Housekeeping replaced them, but the odor and overall condition never improved. Not what you expect at this level. Then it got worse. We had two rooms, one at this hotel and one at a neighboring hotel where a large group of our family was staying. That other hotel requires wristbands, which we had, so security here assumed we didn't belong, even though we had rooms at this property. At the pool, they approached us publicly and repeatedly questioned us, over and over, in front of everyone. No attempt to verify privately, no discretion, just standing over us and making a scene. It was humiliating. Then it happened again. While checking out, we crossed back onto this property to retrieve our luggage that they were holding. Security stopped us again and treated us like we were doing something wrong, only to confirm, once again, that we were legitimate guests. Two separate incidents. Same behavior. The level of aggression and lack of professionalism from security is completely out of control. This is not how paying guests should ever be treated. This wasn't just a misunderstanding, it was a failure in how guests are handled, and it happened more than once. We will never stay here again.

Second visit and another GREAT vacation! We have been fortunate to travel to some amazing…read moredestinations and this place is special. It's fairly new and a lot to love here. But we read a lot of reviews at Yelp, trip advisor, ect, and the reviews are mostly glowing and no mention of anything that could be better. I wholeheartedly recommend this resort, but there were a few things that could have been better. But thus was overall the best AI and we will return. Shootout to an exceptional employee Jhordy at inspira pool who went way above and hope to see next time. Our butlers, Ping Ting and Aline were fabulous.. and will request them next time. They made everything run smoother and got us ALL the reservations at the times we wanted. Def would have not happened w/o a butler. Not intrusive at all. appreciated fuss made for our 27th anniversary . A lot sets this apart from other all inclusives. I feel the food and the cocktails are better and more selecting. We often are celebrating either a birthday or anniversary on vacation, and they always ask at resorts. But then nothing is ever done or said to honor it, which is disappointing. That was not the case here. It seemed every server congratulated us on what we are celebrating. made us feel very special, plus I assume the butlers sent roses and champagne with a big chocolate heart to our room. very much appreciated. It might seem childish, but these dates mean something to me, and I appreciate when they are acknowledged. This is a fairly new resort, and everything seems very clean and well kept. The staff was warm, welcoming, friendly, and helpful. If they were understaffed or having a bad day, they sure hid it. Love the way the common areas and bathrooms smell ... omg you will see. I love the fragrance of the molten brown amenities ..going to buy some. Our inspira swim out room was large, quiet, and luxurious. Well-appointed and lovely. The tub was amazing, but they don't have shampoo and conditioner in that area, and the areas they do have amenities it's locked in, so you can't move it. Is inspira worth the extra? We did it both times. Would not risk being upgraded to an inspire Without the cost. Inspira gives you more access, and I believe a bump in service. If you are fortunate enough to afford it then get it ... if not then don't. In the reviews, I didn't run across many with even minor complaints that they could improve, but there are always things that could be better. I'm gonna put those in the tip area ,so if they want to improve a bit on an already great resort. I love it here and the staff are the truly the best. What signs they have are easy Missed And they don't have a lot of signs directing you especially to area that used to be for families. Personally, I think they wanted to make it harder for the family.People to come over to the all adult area back when it was two different resorts. Now that it. 's all adult I really think they should figure out a way to make it easier to navigate. We didn't know that there was a restaurant that had Buffet for all three meals Until halfway through our second Visit. Well i'm gonna leave some tips In the tip area. Because I don't want this to seem like I had a bad trip. This was incredibly relaxing and luxurious and wonderful. Exceptional staff make all the difference. Mixologists at Calle bar are so fun to watch them create liquid art. No one ignored us and no bad attitudes. I would say one of ... possibly the best all inclusive we have tried in all our travels. Sorry sandals, excellence, secrets, Iberostar u have been out done. employees went above the call bring lots of tip money.

Our reservations was for (7) days and the length of time felt right. We booked two excursions; (i) visit Chichen Itza on a tour; and (ii) visit Playa Mujeres on a catamaran. Chicen Itza is a "must do" if you visit Cancun for the first-time (no question). Following our two excursions it was back to the resort to relax, eat and sleep! The resort has (7) eateries from avant garde, to breakfast buffet, steakhouse, italian, american, asian and pastry cafe. The exquisite culinary cuisines at each restaurant was phenomenal but the steakhouse, asian and buffet ranked highest for me. The bars on property were sexy and classy from the rooftop ocean views, lobby and swim up bars with the staff making our experience special. By far, the sky bar and lobby bar were the spots for me each day serving "top shelf drinks". There is also no need to leave your room if you're hungry, room service was impeccable by bringing your meals in a warm service cart with all the condiments and proper silverware. I highly recommend the New York Strip! There is no denying feeling compelled to stay on property to maximize an all-inclusive, but this is one property I'd have no issues being stranded at. Service is first-class, staff is highly attentive and respectful of your privacy and the resort is highly luxurious. If the opportunity to splurge on a room permits, I'd recommend the swim up pool on the ground floor(s) to enjoy swimming under the stars at night with that someone special, you'll forever remember those moments.

We paid approximately $17,000 for this vacation, so it was disappointing that throughout the resort there were several instances where staff seemed to be expecting additional tips, creating an awkward atmosphere. I understand that some employees may not have known our package included gratuities, but it still left us feeling uncomfortable. We have previously stayed at Secrets Akumal and Secrets The Vine, and both experiences were exceptional. We love the Secrets brand and were excited to try this property. The resort itself is beautiful, well-maintained, and very clean. Some staff members were genuinely friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the level of service was inconsistent throughout our stay, and we encountered multiple situations where staff members were unhelpful, unfriendly, or simply rude. As Preferred Club guests, we checked in through the Preferred Lounge. One of our rooms had a significant mosquito problem. When I asked the Preferred concierge if anything could be done, I was repeatedly told there was nothing they could do. Only after I continued to press the issue was I told the room could be fumigated. The concierge took down the requested date and time, but when we followed up the next day, no one had any record of the request, and we had to start the process all over again. The food experience was also inconsistent. Our first dinner at El Patio was excellent, but when we returned another evening, much of the food was overcooked and dry. One of the cocktails we ordered was noticeably missing sweetness. We knew this because we had been ordering the same drink throughout the resort. When we politely mentioned it to our server, he repeatedly insisted nothing was wrong with it. My husband suggested it might simply need more syrup. Instead of taking the drink back to have it corrected, the server brought a bottle of syrup to the table. His demeanor throughout the interaction was cold and dismissive. Another disappointing experience occurred on our final morning. My parents went to Market Café for breakfast by themselves and sat patiently for quite some time without anyone taking their drink order. My mother eventually approached a server to ask for assistance. That employee spoke with the server assigned to their section, but no one ever came to the table. My mother had to seek help a second time before receiving service. Ironically, near the end of the meal, the assigned server finally appeared and asked how everything was. The entire situation felt bizarre and completely avoidable. These experiences were surprising because they are not what we have come to expect from the Secrets brand or from a five-star resort. We don't know whether the service issues were related to the fact that gratuities were already included in our package or if there were other factors involved. We would have gladly tipped additional staff members for exceptional service if gratuities had not already been included. While the property itself is beautiful, the inconsistent service significantly impacted our overall experience. Unfortunately, based on this stay, we would not return to this resort.

Outside of the gates is a whole different story. It's pretty intense out there with the police being fully militarized. They have machine guns mounted to trucks they stand on and ride around just for the presence, there are tons of people wanting to take advantage of dumb Americans at every turn. Watch yourself if you travel alone in Cozumel. It's designed solely to attract tourists. That draws out some colorful personalities in my experience. Traveled with ease from the oh so lovely Cancun International Airport. Interesting spot to say the least. We were warned not to communicate or accept anything from anyone except our driver. We arrive to the hotel really excited, somewhat cautious, and ready to have some fun. We were greeted at the front door and we handled a little paperwork, and then we were taken to our room by a wonderfully helpful chap. He showed us around the room, gave us a quick run down of the grounds, described the amenities, food situation, and some other pleasantries. He talked about the dining situation and gave us a map tour so we're would know how to navigate the grounds. They have a cool locker system in each room. The service folks just leave your anything in the locker and you don't have to interact with them at all. They just let you know it is there. Nice feature. The grounds themselves are absolutely gorgeous! It is so well kept, the attention to every detail goes so far beyond a normal resort. They comb the beach every morning. I kid you not. They seriously rake the entire shoreline before dawn. They also run a tractor to clear the seaweed from the beach. Insane dedication to making your stay great. The restaurant situation is so fucking rad. They have just about any food you might want covered between the what seemed like a dozen restaurants at the resort. I ate and ate and ate and ate.... I ate between meals, I ate between those meal and snack times. We had so much food!! Every dinner was 5-8 courses. I'm positive I could stay right here forever and never leave. Food heaven!! Spa is great too! It's a lovely relaxing oasis of self care. That's another review, but it's great. Don't take my word for it. Go for yourself! Cold plunges are good for the soul! They have shows every night in the theater and there was some sort of event being held every night in the common area. Some were private, others public. They construct stages, eating areas, weddings, happy hours with bands, and even corporate conferences. It's pretty wild the amount to building and tearing things down the do here. We rented a cabana bed one day and at the end of the day the built and transformed the beach into an elaborate engagement spot with candles everywhere, flowers, and a table for two. Very nice touch! All in all a fantastic experience. My only gripe was that the room smelled of mildew and/or too music moisture. C said something about it when we got there but it wasn't that noticeable to me. When I got home and unpacked my suitcase is when it hit me. There were clothes that I did not wear, just sat in the drawers and repacked, they all had to be washed as they smelled terrible after being packed and transported back home. I would come back monthly if possible. Nice place. '26 - 74

Extremely Disappointing Experience at Secrets Maroma Beach…read more We checked into Secrets Maroma Beach on Sunday with very high expectations, especially considering the reputation of the resort and the premium price we paid. Unfortunately, our experience has been extremely disappointing. From the moment we entered our first room, there was a very strong smell of humidity and sewage. We were unable to sleep comfortably, and during the night we could hear what sounded like water leaking above the ceiling. We reported the odor and humidity on Monday morning, but the problem continued. Then, on Tuesday night at approximately 1:35 a.m., a significant amount of water began leaking from the ceiling. We immediately reported it. We were asked whether we wanted to change rooms, which we found surprising considering the condition of the room. At that point, moving us should have been an immediate necessity, not simply an option. We were moved in the middle of the night to another room. After using the toilet, we discovered that there was no running water to flush it. We had to spend the rest of the night with human waste sitting in the toilet and without running water to properly wash our hands. It gave us the impression that this room may not have been ready or should not have been part of the available room inventory. The next morning, we encountered even more problems. Access to the building was difficult, and when we attempted to shower, we discovered that the shower drain was completely clogged. The water would not drain properly, creating another very unpleasant and unhygienic situation. The water flow from the faucets was also not functioning normally. We reported the entire situation to the front desk and were told that we would once again have to move to another room. After dealing with sewage odors, humidity, a major ceiling leak at 1:35 a.m., no running water, an unusable toilet, a clogged shower, and the stress and inconvenience of repeatedly packing and changing rooms during our vacation, the only compensation offered to us was a beach bed. That response was extremely disappointing. We paid considerably more to stay at Secrets Maroma because we expected a higher level of accommodations, maintenance, service, and guest care. When a guest experiences this many serious problems, simply saying "we're sorry" and offering a beach bed does not adequately address the disruption and stress caused. A vacation at a resort of this level should not involve repeatedly changing rooms because of serious maintenance and sanitation issues. Based on our experience and, especially, the way our concerns have been handled, we cannot recommend Secrets Maroma Beach and we do not plan to return. We expected much better from a resort with the reputation and price point of Secrets Maroma Beach
