Whitefish basket meal ($13) and Pastie ($9)
    Harry W.

As a truck driver I stopped in to eat and rest for the night. The Whitefish and fries meal was very tasty. I was the only one in the restaurant and service was very courteous. I took a table in the back overlooking Lake Michigan and relaxed like I was at moms house. I ordered a Pastie meal as well but of course that was too much food so I took it to go. My only complaint was that on this day they had too many flies and nats swarming my table and the salad bar. Seems like an annoyance a small electric fly trap may handle nicely. All in all I would return to eat hear again as the appearance was clean and atmosphere was homey.

That ham was so thick! Wow!

O M G this is a little gem. Food was very good with great portions. It's not a high end place, but it's comfortable and better food than most UP places. Don't expect fast food, just enjoy your slower pace UP experience. Affordable also. We will be back.

Broiled whitefish with sweet potato mash and corn bread

Whitefish is what they are known for. My husband had the fish and chips basket with whitefish, it was very lightly breaded and fried golden brown, very hot and tasty. They make their own potato chips which were on point, perfectly crisp and great flavor. I had broiled whitefish which was on the overcooked side but had good flavor. The sweet potato mash had a smoky flavor, almost like the sweet potatoes were roasted over a wood fire prior to mashing, they were delicious. They had the salad bar open, it was fresh. The portions were generous and staff friendly. My daughter was kept entertained playing eye spy using all the interesting decor as targets. We pass here several times per year and I would make another stop if we need a lunch or dinner.

The food was really good and the waitresses were very nice. The view was also spectacular too. So why the 1 star? Hidden charges when you use a credit card. There isnt any notification that cards are charged more. That makes it dishonest in my playbook. I'll be scratching this place off my stop list and will just go to Audys on the other side of the bridge.

Such a beautiful view sitting on the back patio. Service was a tad slow due to lack of staff. But the gals were so pleasant and hospitable. Food was very good too. (I think it tastes better when you're staring off into Lake Michigan). It was worth the stop for sure! Now back on the road to Detroit...

The view is 15 Stars!!! AMAZING VIEW!!!! Food is your average home cooking diner food. It's good, nothing fancy. Good pasties. All around its worth the stop. They are usually busy and the waitress tries hard, but they are nice and prices are low. 5 Stars For The U.P.

The 1/2 pound burger was grilled to perfection! Ribeye steak was the special. I will be back.

Our server Lisa was so warm and friendly (as if she was your mother) and took great care of us! Got the parmesan topped whitefish with creamy mushroom soup and coleslaw. The mushroom soup was creamy and hearty. I liked the coleslaw - just the right amount of sweet and sour for me. I enjoyed the fish very much. We would have gotten some desserts but we were so full. We did see that the cheesecake slices were huge! Would definitely recommend this place!

Excellent, friendly service from Lisa. Ambiance is small town family restaurant with wooden booths…read moreand lots of light. To place a carry out order, you must come inside and sit down at a table, then tell your server that you want to place a to go order. Lisa was helpful, told me the order would be out pretty quickly, and she brought me a glass of water for while I waited. I ordered the mackinaw burger with onion rings, and hot ham and cheese with fries. I also ordered a coconut cream pie and a Dutch cherry pie slice. All of this was to go, and she packed it up and brought me carry-bags for it. The coconut cream pie was good. The Dutch cherry was ok but, I have had better. The French fries were good--crispy and lightly seasoned. The onion rings were large and hot/fresh, but they are battered (I prefer breaded), and they are pretty greasy. The burger was nice sized and cooked well done, which I like. It came with cheese, lots of pickles, relish, lots of mustard, and just a little ketchup. The hot ham and cheese was okay. I chose white bread rather than rye or wheat. The bread was not special--seemed like white bread you'd buy at any grocery in a plastic wrapper. There's an up-charge for the onion rings. I say skip that and get the fries. For the 2 sandwiches, 1 with fries, one with onion rings, and 2 pieces of pie, my bill was $51.36 before any tip added on. I get that it's a short season up north here, so I expect everything to be a little pricey. If the burger had a bit of char and came on an upscale bun, if the hot ham and cheese came on a thicker toasted bread, I'd say ok. But for what we got, it was overpriced.
