I live in a new community and the person came soliciting to my house and because I wanted a backyard done I allowed them to come in and give me a quote. They quoted me just under $13,000 for roughly 4 to 500 ft.² of work in the backyard. I ended up with pavers and turf and a couple small areas of mulch. I was hesitant to agree to the 13,000 because I felt like it was pretty pricey for the small amount of work that needed to be done the 13,000 was after the representative Koraline I think was her name brought it down from about 15 or 16,000 she kept going outside to make "phone calls" and qualify me for a "program" that would knock off thousands of dollars off the price. She told me everything would be done fast and once everything was complete, I would have a lifetime warranty. I was excited being it's my first house and a brand new backyard. I trusted her and her assistant who came later when they were in my home. They asked to use my phone to look them up on Google and they gave themselves a five star Google review from my phone and asked me to then write a review at the time. My Google account wasn't working so luckily they didn't get a five star review for me. At one point I was digging in one of the mulch areas and I came across pavers that were buried where there was no pavers just random pavers buried throughout the mulch area. I called them and told them hey why did they do this? Is there a reason or should I leave them? No one knew what I was talking about so I ended up leaving them buried. At one point I wanted the mulch gone so I decided to remove it and come to find out there was no weed barrier placed prior to them putting the mulch down. I called about this and they gave me such a hassle to come and put pieces of weed barrier down eventually someone did come out and put it down. After the job was complete. I told them that my AC condenser unit was leaning when it wasn't leaning before they did the pavers I bought a Level and I sent them pictures that it wasn't Level anymore and they still gave me a very hard time to come and fix the AC. It took about two weeks for them to come out and fix it. Fast-forward a year and three months later there's grass and weeds coming up through the pavers. I just called them and they told me there is no lifetime warranty. There is only a one year warranty and they can send somebody out to take a look and give me a quote to replace everything. I told the customer service agent I don't want to quote to replace it. I want somebody to come out and fix it because why would I pay someone to replace it when you should've done it correct in the first place I'm looking through my contract and it says install weed barrier on approximately 220 ft.² which very clearly they didn't because now I have weeds and grass coming up through the pavers. The customer service agent said if there was an issue I should have called within the year #Warranty I told her I don't control when weeds and grass decide to grow, but I do know that very obviously the weed barrier isn't on. The customer service agent told me there was nothing more they could do but send someone out to "take a look". You'd think that as much money as I paid for this they'd have better customer service or most importantly better quality of work, but they don't. I will never recommend this company and I will never willingly pay them for work ever again. By far the worst experience I've ever had and the worst company I've ever dealt with.

Fortunately, my sister just had her kitchen remodeled a few months earlier and we liked the outcome so we skipped the estimates and went straight to her contractor-- New Era Kitchen Designs. Ricardo arrived with samples, listened to our plans, offered suggestions and soon had enough details to feed into his app. He returned with schematics and we agreed on the final details and a start date. He and his crew arrived the day he said they would and worked Monday through Friday, 9:00 - 5:00, until the job was completed. They never missed a day. They were skilled, friendly, polite and accommodating. As work progressed Ricardo continued to offer suggestions and was willing to accommodate a few change requests. The remodel included ordering three windows at Home Depot, but unfortunately they were not ready by Ricardo's completion date. One was a custom size, where he had to remove a large window and replace it with a small picture window. This required him to build a window frame and fill-in the wall. He installed a wooden placeholder until the new windows were ready for pickup. When they were available at Home Depot he picked them up began installation. In all they installed a porcelain ceramic tile floor, three windows, four new appliances, wall cabinets, lower cabinets, quartz countertops, backsplash, a large sink, ceiling lights and new electrical switches. They cleaned up after themselves, hauled away old materials, and even moved our old appliances to the curb for pick up by the city's waste removal services. And all done at a fair price. When I asked, he said he also does other jobs and is willing to give a quote for non-kitchen work such as additional window installations, flooring in other rooms, new doors, installing a gate at my backyard, etc. We will definitely call him again.
