Unprofessional and disrespectful in every way. I return to…read moreHenry's after 7 yrs or so. I was greeted with Mr Henry , he was over zealous to do business. We agreed to reupholster my sofa cushions with a performance fabric called French Linen which included two back cushions and one full seat cushion. (I brought in two seat cushions) Mr. Henry brought out a sample of the cushion he was going to replace mine with which he said was the best and had me touch it, press on it and hold it. I agreed it was firm and a lot like what the used many years ago and I was pleased. Mr. Henry did his calculations for the cushion, fabric and labor and came up with a total on a piece of white paper and showed it to me and I agreed to The total. He then wrote out a written business receipt with the total cost and asked me to pay half for deposit using Zelle. I did just that using two transactions to cover the amount due $700 He then told me the cushions would be done in 2-3 days. Before leaving he asked about the wood sofa frame and I shared pictures of how I messed up the lattice although the sofa was in great condition and he said he had a guy who was really good and could clean it up for me but he'd have to get the sofa so he could see it and give me a price. I agreed. Mr. Henry came to my home and picked up the sofa with a younger gentleman. The following day Mr Henry called me and said the cushions were done and could I Zelle him the balance for the cushions $ 669.59 without me even seeing the completed work. Also the wood worker also had a price that I didn't agree to ($565), I made mention it was too much and what I was willing to pay. He said we could talk about it after he talk to the guy. When I saw the cushions they were not of good quality. There was yellow markings on the seems and the cushions felt worn. So worn I spotted my old cushions and compared the firmness , Mr Henry agreed and said he'd fix it no problem. The price he said the wood person agreed to was now $50 less than what I offered so I agreed $350. After expressing my dissatisfaction before I left Mr. Henry asked again to Zelle him the money for the wood worker and I said no I wasn't comfortable doing that , he then said I owed the balance for the cushions as written on the receipt and the price for the wood work. I felt pressured to pay for services not completed, I was very uncomfortable and left immediately. Today the day after Mr Henry called me leaving several messages and said the cushions were done and for me to Zelle him only now the price has gone up $400. I politely corrected him and we began to go back and forth, he wanted to drop off the cushions and for me to Zelle him this new balance that didn't include the wood workers price. He left me messages and text messages to please call him. I messaged him I concluded the wood worker was his compadre and I was doing business with him, Mr. Henry. I have a receipt of what I owe unless he was dropping off my sofa and cushions today I wasn't zelling him anything. It was unprofessional for him to ask me and continually ask me to Zelle him for something I hadn't even seen. I was unhappy the first time I saw his finished work what makes him think I'm just going to Zelle him some money like that. Mr. Henry this is bad business!! Mr. Henry isn't even standing by his own receipt and is adding cost that I didn't agree to. He made up reasons that the cushion replacement was extra $400 and that it says it on the receipt. I corrected him again it doesn't say that what extra cost he computed I didn't agree to that. He told me he used some used cushions and since I didn't like it he bought new cushions. That's when I lost it. When he gave me my total the first day which the receipt has a total for the job with a deposit and balance owed he calculated the cushion he brought out to me and said that's what he was going to use. Now He could add dollars every day and say this or that is what i owe. That's not good business from a neighborhood business and not to mention I'm a returning customer. I could buy a new sofa with what Mr Henry is asking from me and I have no use for the cushions with no sofa that he was so admittedly ready to drop off. Now Im being ripped off and disrespected as a consumer. I felt pressured for money more than anything. Who ever Mr Henry owes I want nothing to do with his shenanigans. I have my receipt. I paid a deposit of $700, I told him he could return my money and my sofa with the cushions I brought to him. He said to me it's not that easy and with a very unsettling tone like a threat. I told him don't call me unless he's going to honor his receipt and deliver my sofa and cushions and ended the conversation with him. One of the great things about Yelp is that it gives voice to the customer. One of the bad things about Yelp is the exact same thing. Yelp tends to become a forum for a lot of psychological issues that are cloaked in statements like, I didn't like my bagel. That said, sometimes it really does help to know when a business is serious about being a BUSINESS and when a business makes jerking people around a default option. I thought I would give a local business a chance. A simple case. I had a cushion. On the underside of the cushion, all the buttons were fine. On the topside of the cushion, half the buttons were crap. My request: take the good buttons from the bottom and put them on the top. Use old buttons (they didn't even have to match!) on the bottom, where no one could see. I brought it in on February 8th. "I'll have it done next week." I came in on Friday of the following week and he explained that what I wanted done, couldn't be done. He said that he would have to replace all the buttons. Fine. We looked at swatches. I decided on a good enough replacement for all the buttons. At this point, he wrote up an official receipt which included my phone number. He said, it would be done by the end of the next week and that he would call me. Guess what? No phone call. I would drive by. He was clearly open, yet my cushion remained in the window, untouched. Finally, on March 30th, I went in to see what the deal was. I was told that he had the material and that he would have it done by April 2nd. No phone call. Nothing. On April 8th, I went in and was told it would be done by April 9th. Guess what? On April 9th, it was still in the window, untouched. As of today, April 10, still not done. Well, now it's not done because I took it away from him and it's in my house, where it will remain until I find a reputable upholsterer. I got a lot of excuses - "my folks are sick." Hey, I'm very sorry. I can relate, I have elderly parents too. Here are your options on this one: a.) immerse yourself in your work to take your mind off it, or b.) tell me you can't do it due to family problems. But option c.) jerking me around by telling me it'll be ready tomorrow, next week, in a few days, etc., is really NOT an option. So save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. I think what makes me angrier than anything is being jerked around. This guy? The King of doing just that.
