The staff there was very friendly. I believe it was the owners serving me when I went there. They asked me if I had ever been there before. I told them no and they handed me an entire glazed donut to sample. They told me about their ingredients as well and even showed me the flour they used to make the donuts. I got a dozen donuts, two filled donuts, and two kolaches. One thing that was interesting is they don't fill the filled donuts until you tell them which filling you would like. Overall it is a great place to stop for donuts or kolaches. Everything tasted great and customer service was great. I would recommend this place and I will be back in the future. read more

Excellent place to get some treats before heading into work. The drive thru is really useful for the early morning commutes. I usually pick up 2 dozen donut holes and a dozen assorted donuts for under $10.50. The owners are really nice and tries to know their customers, which is very nice. Some of the best donuts, kolaches and customer service San Antonio has to offer! Went in on a Saturday morning around 9:30 and was pleasantly surprised to see a good selection of goodies left. Every time I come here I get the best customer service. Their donuts are great especially for a family of five. They have a drive thru service which is always convenient whenever it's a school day or work day. I ordered a coffee and ham, egg and cheese croissant this morning and they never disappointed me. Their croissant isn't hard but soft and warm. The egg is over-hard which gives out a great flavor with every bite and the cheese coating really brings out the taste of the ham and egg. Their coffee gives me an extra boost in the morning especially with milk and sugar. If you would compare this to Starbucks food it's better than theirs because it's handmade and not just toasted in the oven. This place is a good reason to wake up early in the morning and be a little late for work. read more

What a lovely place! While the store itself is a bit unconventional, the products themselves are delicious! I wasn't able to sample everything but what I did was wonderful. But what really sold this place for me are the owners. They are such a sweet couple! While I waited they joked with me, conversed about life as a donut shop owner, and treated me how I would treat a a welcomed family member. It was a lovely experience. Found this gem in yelp. I felt the donuts were good (but not fantastic) BUT...everyone at work LOVED Them! I bought 3 dozen and they were gone before the dozen of fresh Shipley's were half gone. I'll buy them again for the next office breakfast but they lacked variety when I bought them at just after 5am. He did say he was undermanned that morning though. Lastly thier lighted sign was barely working so it was difficult to see driving by. The office rates them a 5, but they were only a 4 in my book. Decide for yourself! The donuts are good and I try to support small local businesses, but won't be going back in to this one. I stopped on my way to work today to grab a dozen to take to work at 8:33 am, there were not any donuts other than the big cakey expensive ones. I asked the owner, he said some would be ready in half hour. I told the owner this was the 3rd time this has happened and he stated there was a dunken donuts down the street. I arrived around 10:30a and was sad to see most of their donuts were already bought up.The donut holes are yummy and delicately airy, it's like eating a cloud. Their apple fritters are pretty awesome are full of flavor, a little on the sweater side but they had such a nice crispy texture to it that its probably the best apple fritters I've had so far. Their jalapeño sausage and cheese kolache is alright...the dough they use is soft and moist and tastes great but the filling is ok. I could tell they were very fresh and they had this honey glaze on top that made it even better. I also got a cake donut and an eclair, all very delicious. They made the best donuts in east Bexar County. & it was the "go to" place for donuts for me & a couple of co-workers. But because I took a different route to work after that I never went back until about a month ago, when I recalled how good the donuts & fritters were. So, I ordered about $30 worth of Donuts, Holes, & Kolaches for an office breakfast party. I ordered small kolaches & I was surprised at their large size; almost thought they gave me the large kolaches by mistake.
