I usually get the slamming salmon, but decided to wildcard an everything bagel toasted with cream cheese today. $4.50, and I think Costco makes a better one. They forgot to toast mine, which was frustrating on account of the bagel tasted...not freshly baked. They also seem to have forgotten napkins, which thankfully was not a big deal, as they were quite frugal with the application of cream cheese. It wasn't busy when I visited as my flight landed early afternoon around 130p. Shop wasn't busy so I was attended to very fast. I was hungry since I hadn't eaten since waking up at 430a. Reviews looked promising online. I got Jalapeño bagel...to go. Bagel was hard. I should have known as it looked a little over toasted when he was assembling it but I was confused because it was in toaster less than 30s after I placed my order sooo how can it have over toasted in just 30s? Anyway... Got to my destination only to be met with hard bagel in the bag. It was not a pleasant meal. A fresh bagel can still be slightly over toasted and be good. This one was just hard. I ate 75% of it again because it was my 1st meal of the day and I was hangry because I had high hopes that was dashed. Service was exceptionally quick, even given that the line was 20 people long. Staff were very friendly. My issue is the add-ons. I ordered a vanilla latte with almond milk ($6.25). My wife ordered a coffee and a bagel. I pay and wait. Then I look at the receipt. $1.10 was added for vanilla syrup (WTH) and another $.95 for almond milk. It's one thing to upcharge. It's entirely another to do that in excess and not inform the customer. Such an abuse and so shameful. Boss Bagel has a captured clientele and they choose to take even further advantage. This will be the LAST time we give you our money. I will also warn as many others as I can about your business practices. Do better. read more

As someone from New York, I am pretty critical of my bagels, but with the San Antonio Airport offering little in the way of slightly healthy food before a flight, I decided to go with a bagel. Our flight was midday so they were out of a lot of the options for both bagels and cream cheese, but I was able to snag a Bacon bagel with scallion cream cheese. The service was friendly and the bagel came out very fast. There were a few seats at the place to sit down as well, but you definitely couldn't get a group of more than 4 people together so you're probably better off sitting at your gate. All in the all, the bagel and cream cheese was fine. Nothing to write home about - the bacon didn't come through much although it was nice to have a savory bagel. I just need to rave about Jasmin and her efficiency and friendliness. She was working two registers at a time, taking an order on one while the other paid and did it all with a smile and offering helpful suggestions. The line was long but moved so quickly. I heard about Boss Bagel from a Yelp friend from San Antonio, and he raved about how great their bagel sandwiches were. When I saw that Boss Bagel had a location inside the San Antonio International Airport (SAT), I knew I had to pay them a visit. I arrived after 2 PM on a Saturday, and Dashun was there to take my order. I thought I remembered seeing him warmly welcome other customers, but I didn't get that same vibe from him. Perhaps I caught him at an off time? Anyways, I was hoping to get the Slammin' Salmon, but he mentioned they were out of several ingredients. Then why is it still on their menu then?! Shouldn't they at least have a "Sold out" sign somewhere? There was not, so I had to think of a Plan B on the spot. My backup choice was The Athlete, but they were out of egg whites as well. Dashun mentioned he could use a fried egg instead, which luckily wouldn't incur an upcharge. I waited about 5 minutes before his co-worker wrapped my bagel sandwich in aluminum foil and placed it in a paper bag. I was expecting a decent sandwich after reading my Yelp friend's review of a different Boss Bagel in San Antonio, but this sandwich didn't do the trick. The bagels weren't really toasted, and they were quite dense for my liking, overpowering the veggies and egg in The Athlete. There is a TV off to the side that shows the process of how they make their bagels, and it looks kind of cool as if they were the #1 bagel shop in the world. Far from it if what I had was indicative of how the rest of their menu really is. I'm almost certain I would have enjoyed the Slammin' Salmon better, but the Athlete was overall a disappointment. If I ever make a return visit, I would be open to trying another bagel sandwich from Boss Bagel, but it would almost certainly be in a location outside of the airport. read more

I felt like I was back in New York, this bagel was soooo filling. I went for the yardbird, and it was definitely a hit. The chicken was well cooked, the bacon was juicy and the cream cheese was a great addition. There were tons of flavors and I was very impressed with all the flavors. Went at 4;39pm. They only had TWO BAGELS!! Yes, TWO. Yes it was the day before Thanksgiving. But they said it was extremely busy. So fine, I chose one of the bagels available. But as I was waiting, I looked and they clearly had two bins of around at least 50 bagels sitting there behind the counter. Nice spot in the San Antonio airport to drop by for breakfast and coffee. During a recent trip, I visited and ordered the Ultimate Grilled Cheese on a Jalapeño Bagel with a large hot mocha. After walking over to my gate to unwrap and enjoy, the food was still hot to the touch, which was great! A little greasy and messy so be sure to grab plenty of napkins. The bagel was great! Hot, chewy, crunchy, tasty! Would've liked to see the bacon crunchier, I took it out on the 2nd half because it was too soft & stretchy for my liking.
