I fell into deep depression as I was an extreme athlete and now I'm a cripple with a cane.

The reception area is large, clean, staff acknowledged me immediately. The Orthopedic area is a maze of rooms but clearly marked with directions. X-ray technician was friendly, nurse was very professional and welcoming, and the doctor took time to make sure I knew exactly what was going on. He showed me my x-rays and explained what we were looking at. I have to say, I would recommend this practice.

Dr Park then took the time to call the doctor he wanted to treat my injury, had that doctor pull up my MRI on his end, and then they discussed the injury and treatment. Dr Park explained to me what exactly the procedure would entail and put in the order for that specific doctor to do the procedure. I had the procedure yesterday and was very pleased with the results. My only regret was waiting for a week in such pain and not getting steroids sooner. It was all seamless. From checking in to going across the hall for X-rays and then back to meet with Dr Zhu. I didn't wait long at all. He was very timely and I really liked his friendly and confident demeanor. He has a nice air about him. Showing me my X-rays and a model of a spine, he was very informative and explained my injury in an easily understood way. Physical therapy, steroids, and no weightlifting for a month. Not what I wanted to hear.

I was also told, "come in 15 minutes early so that we can update your insurance paperwork." I arrived at 10:15 AM, updated the insurance information, and sat down in the waiting room. At 11:15 AM (45 minutes after my scheduled appointment) the receptionist informed me and two other patients waiting for Dr. Choi that "he is running behind and it will be at least 45 minutes" before he could see anyone. So... I'm here at 10:30 AM and it's going to be at least NOON before he can see anyone else? And I don't even know if I'm next in line since there are two other patients waiting for him. This is clearly old fashioned doctoring. When seeing my normal doctor (who is part of the Northwestern Medical Group) I never wait more than a few minutes before I am called into the examination room. A few minutes after I am in the examination room someone is taking my vitals (temperature, blood pressure, etc.). Within 48 hours after the appointment I receive a detailed questionnaire asking me, "How long did you have to wait before you were called into the examination room? And, get this... the choices are: Less than 5 minutes / Less than 15 minutes, etc. Also, "How long did you have to wait in the examination room? And again... the choices are: Less than 5 minutes / Less than 15 minutes, etc. There is clearly the expectation that the doctors will not be overbooked and make their patients wait for them like they are gods. I'm usually a very calm person and was waiting patiently to have my shoulder looked at, but Dr. Choi's obvious overbooking put me over the top. It reminds me of the bumper sticker I once saw. It had the Bell Telephone logo and the words, "We don't care. We don't have to."

What he observed, what he did, and what he recommends, etc. What kind of doctor calls a patient back 7pm just to follow up on an appointment earlier in the day?!?! That kind of care and attention usually doesn't exist anymore. I was very surprised, and am very grateful. Besides the fact that my mom almost couldn't walk because of a terrible callus on her toe, and now she's completely fine thanks to Dr. Rubin. A++ podiatrist here. Highly recommended.
