We cruised to Alaska via Carnival Cruise to Juneau and booked a tour with M&M Tours. Our tour guide was Alicia, who provided excellent customer service and was knowledgeable of the city's history. She stopped at perfect picture spots to capture memorable photos. At the end of the tour, we stopped at a park with clean restrooms, and a young college student was selling chocolate chip cookies and lemonade made with spruce. It was delicious!!!

We may have had an unusually bad experience but they appeared to be very disorganized. We purchased the Mendenhall Glacier Bus pass online not realizing how they are the poorest organizer of the multiple shuttle services. There were no specific instructions as to where to pickup. We stood around not realizing one of the unmarked lines was the line to the bus: they only run 1 bus every 30 minutes regardless of how many ships are in port. It took us 2 hours to get on a bus for a 30 minute trip. Do not recommend. I would look at Juneau Tours.
Juneau was the 2nd port on our Alaska cruise. We didn't have any excursion plans so we talked to a couple of tour companies that were located close to the terminal from where our ship let us off. We decided on the 3.5 hour "Juneau Highlights and Mendenhall Glacier Tour" offered by M&M tours, especially since they offered a less expensive cost when paying with cash: $105 per person. Instructions on where to wait for our bus were clear; the process was organized and smooth. Our tour guide, Kenny, was informative. Our blue bus was very spacious and comfortable. We spent 2 hours at Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center where we were able to take a quick hike, view Nugget Falls, and see Mendenhall Glacier in the background. The Juneau Highlights were driving through Brotherhood Park, Douglas Island, and Breaching Whale Park (home of Takhu," a cool 40-foot sculpture depicting a breaching whale). Overall, we had a good time on this tour and we're glad to have chosen it. read more

Kenny was great! Friendly, knowledgeable and hilarious! He provided a great history and pointed out buildings and areas of interest as well as wildlife. Pick up and drop off was prompt and well organized. read more

Purchased tickets for the "blue bus" to see the glacier. We got off of on our cruise without any plan so we bought the tickets on a whim for $80 each; I've seen other reviews with other prices, mostly cheaper (this is fine as I mentioned we did this last minute). I've also seen other reviews saying that they're disorganized and voicing issues of not being told where the pick up location is-- this coincides with our experience as I had to ask. The bus came and dropped us off at the designated location and picked us up on time after 2 hours. Our driver was Archie, he was great; overall the stuff was friendly. I do think they could inform their customers more on the logistics so just be prepared and ask questions if you don't know. read more

We really enjoyed our time with M&M Tours. Prices were fair, our drivers funny and easy to find where to meet with directions given. Our only issue was timing of our pick up bus which was over 20 minutes late getting back. Not a problem for us as we planned ahead, but if shirt on time that could've been a nightmare. The glacier and nugget falls were totally with the price. read more

Our family cruised to Alaska on Norwegian Encore to Alaska, May 2024! We booked blindly with Mark through M&M Tours to White Pass/Yukon Route. I will admit we were nervous. However, they never asked for money upfront like other companies, they just made us a reservation over the phone weeks before and provided arrival instructions via email. When we arrived in port, there they were. They were wonderful! The train ride was amazing! The tour on the train was so historical, educational, and breathtaking. Photo opportunities everywhere. It was worth every dime. Thank you, M&M Tours, for being a part of this wonderful family adventure! We will definitely use this company again. The Powers Family read more

This whole bus to the glacier is just a huge cash grab and disorganized mess. The buses were apparently running late bc of construction and ppl were stranded at the pick up spots for hours waiting with little help from the guides. The whole waiting area is completely disorganized and ppl were waiting for the wrong tour company. All the guides in the orange hats were complete checked out. There is also a whole mess leaving the glacier and you can only get home on certain color buses even though they are the same company and there is no explanation why. Mendenhal Glacier is worth seeing but not through this company. read more
While on a cruise stop through Alaska, my husband, son, and I decided to do a whale watching tour. The tour was fantastic and amazing, and the crew of the boat was incredibly knowledgeable. Sure, it was partially a lot of INCREDIBLE luck that we happened upon a group of whales performing a rare bubble net feeding, but still, the crew did a great job giving us information about what we were seeing and keeping us close enough to take amazing photos and videos. The only reason they don't get five stars is because one bus dropped us off at Mendenhall Glacier without much information about where to catch the bus to the marina. We were left out in the middle of no where, not sure where to go or who was going to pick us up - if anyone. Luckily, I immediately called the number on our receipt and we discovered that our transfer bus had left without us, but as soon as they realized the error, the driver came back for us and the boat was waiting for us to arrive to take off. It was an amazing day. read more

Seven of us signed up for this tour at $45 a pop to see the Mendenhall Glacier. I should have realized what was to come before the tour even started. The waiting area was disorganized with multiple tours and times lined up in the same area with no one directing traffic. Someone eventually showed up, apologized, and moved everyone to the right area. The tour bus resembled a school bus from the 70's. It was a rainy day and the windows were all fogged up. I couldn't see anything described by the driver. The view to the right and the left were exactly the same, like looking through wax paper. We arrived at the glacier viewpoint and it was barely visible. Even on a clear day, the glacier would appear as a thin white line in the distance. The second stop was at a whale statue. Good for a quick picture, click and dash. The total bus ride and tour lasted about 75 minutes. My suggestion is to take a taxi or shuttle directly to the Mendenhall Glacier visitors center. This was a poor use of $315. Save it for the crab legs at Tracy's King Crab Shack. read more

My husband and I signed up for this tour because of weather cancellations for other activities. Kenny talked non stop, mostly about his photos and CDs. Most disappointing is that, although we were told we would be at the glacier 1 1/2 hours, when we got seated on the bus, Kenny informed us that we could only stay one hour because he had another group to pick up. He was emphatic about this and made the time at the glacier feel rushed. He also told us that flooding would prevent us from walking to the waterfall. As a result, we did not try...others on our tour told us they had made their way to the waterfall. It was not closed. This felt like he was insuring that our entire group made it back in his timeline. Lastly, Kenny made jokes about fat people and those who are blind. read more

M&M tours was amazing!! The personal communication provided by the reservation line was amazing. Even with a bus swap they did to keep their schedule going was done very smoothly. The driver - awesome narration. Operated on time. Drove safely. Super personal. And we even left prescription glasses on the bus, they went and found them after hours, and then even dropped the glasses off for us at the airport! Now that is the best service he could ever ask for. Hats off! Way to win customer's hearts! read more

These guys hustle like other tour companies near the cruise ship arrival area. Not classy, but par for the course. You know "I'll give you a great deal, but don't tell others you paid less than they did." Yeah, right. But whatever. However, the one driver we had was SO rude. She told a family with small children and not moving quickly enough to "get your ticket or get off the bus!" And she was very rude to several others, as well. Then she regaled us on the way back with stories of bears invading trailer parks. Save your $, pick another tour company. Any other tour company. read more

Today we waited in line forever to board your blue bus to the glacier in Juneau. One finally showed up and my boyfriend and I stepped off the sidewalk and your employee said "who are you?" I said we were waiting on the sidewalk for the last 20 minutes and he accused us of skipping the line and made us get in the back of line and wait another half hour. While in line for the second time the same employee approached us and accused us again of skipping. I said I was standing exactly where we were told by the employee at the booth. The employee stated "you were told to look for the guy in the orange hat" I told him we were not told that. The employee was beyond rude and made a scene in front of the entire line yelling at me and accusing me of something I did not and would not do. We then waited an hour and a half for a bus to return even though we were told it'd be every half hour. Avoid this company at all costs. read more
Derek was our driver. Cool guy who took us around town and then took us to the Glacier. He is highly recommended I would have loved a little more time at the glacier. Unless you just want to take pictures and leave you will have a hard time to do a trail or 2 within the hour that you get. You should plan on buying a plan with more time. Otherwise good value. read more
On an Alaskan cruise, we stopped in Juneau. Getting off the ship, we were asked if we'd like to take a tour of Juneau, the Mendenhall glacier, and St. Therese shrine. We signed up for the 3-hour tour that costs $54 each. Our tour van driver was Linda, a native of Juneau. It was a drizzly day, but she was a fantastic tour guide. We thoroughly enjoyed her information about Juneau. She gave good advice for seeing wildlife at Mendenhall glacier and where to take the best photos. We were at the glacier for about an hour, plenty of time to enjoy the scenery! We also made a stop at the St. Therese shrine and were there for about 40 minutes. We also went to a lovely lookout point but because of rain did not get out of the vehicle. I recommend this tour for any who might stop off for a day on a cruiseship. read more

Booked this tour on the dock and got stuck in an old van with 11 people. The very back seat was only reachable by climbing over a tire and crawling. The van had small windows and it was impossible to see the sights. Note that we paid for "Sightseeing". This van is not designed for any type of sightseeing. Other companies were using small cutaway busses with floor to ceiling windows. The guide was very nice but the van used detracted from the experience. I wished I was on a different tour. THE WORST TOUR OPERATOR IN ALASKA. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT TAKING M&M TOURS. read more
Tour to glacier was fantastic. We came via cruise ship and were a party of 8. Cruise tours were costly so opted to take free shuttle to town. There we came across M&m tours. Love our guide Linda and had private van cheaper than bus from cruise ship. Best tour guide ever had. She was brilliant, knew the area well and patient to answer all our questions. read more

Long story short, owner is not concerned about her customers as witnessed by employees reactions to lack of direction on July 4th. Was promised a partial refund for my cab fare back from glacier because busses were not running ,and I opted to decline the refund when the owner accused me of scamming her. As she texted, " the salesman that sold you the ticket called me and said that he told you to take a cab. I didn't realize that before. He also said that he had recommended you come back on the 930 bus." Issue is I purchased tickets from a nice female who said no such thing. Do yourself a favor and ride a nicer bus or travel by other means to the glacier and avoid doing business with this lady and her company. You will be glad you did. Can honestly say that writing these reviews is worth the $48 dollars that she could have refunded and avoided this negative review. read more

Booked face-to-face at the dock; sorta slimy and pushy sales guy. We expected a van to take us on the entire tour; sadly they stuck us on the "blue bus" for the Glacier portion. This wasted tons of time as we went downtown-glacier-downtown-shrine. Once we were in the van with a friendly guide life was much better. Our van driver said normally the van is used but there was some sort of confusion/screw-up/whatever. I'd likely not use M&M again. read more

We came on a cruise ship and booked a tour on the dock to Mendenhall Glacier and the St. Therese shrine. Our experience was similar to a previous reviewer. Our guide was raised in Juneau and could bring the period from the 1950's and beyond to life. She talked about attending the ceremonies for Alaska becoming a state and life growing up in Juneau as we passed different Juneau sites. She took us to several viewing vantage points and then out to the St. Therese Shrine where she again told stories of the area becoming a shrine. On the way out to the shrine and glacier, she also talked about the growth of the area and changes in the vegetation. At Mendenhall Glacier, we had an hour to tour the area, with tips on what we might want to see. We would highly recommend this tour and guide. read more

We visited Juneau via a cruise ship that stopped there for only about 5 hours. We paid $60 per person for a bus tour of the city (very funny and informative commentary by our guide Derek, who grew up in the area). He dropped us off at the glacier, and picked us up after an hour. Options were also available to spend more time at the glacier. A convenient way to get out to the glacier, and also learn about Juneau. read more

We LOVED Juneau! But the thing that made it so fabulous is our tour guide. She knew everything about the area, the wildlife, EVERYTHING!!! She was a joy to spend the day with. We had a certain time we had to be back on the ship, and she kept us on schedule and gave us the most bang for our buck. (We think her name is Danielle) Alaska is her summer job. During the winter she's a nuclear physicist (or something like that) All I know is she made Juneau SUPER FUN!!!! read more

We took the White Pass Train up and the bus back to Skagway. Sadly, We Would not recommend. If you can see or not depends where you sit on the train. Our guide Jessica, got us to the train late, only seats available were against the mountain "wall". Our "view" was the wall all the way up the mountain. You could stand to see some view on the side of the train overlooking the valley, and the small balcony was packed. So all 8 of us agreed we would never recommend or do this again. Also, sorry but, Jessica was the worst.. she gave bad information, like "Skagway gets 14 inches of snow a year" We KNEW that was wrong! And she only talked about herself growing up, or when she had a flat tire, etc. This was a waste of money and a precious day in Alaska read more

We came on a cruise ship to Juneau in July and booked a ride with the Glacier Express. We were told it would pick us up every 30 minutes, which was a complete lie. At the glacier that day it was very cold and raining really hard. We had to wait under a small canopy for this horrible bus. The wait was almost 2 hours. I watched children and old people suffer. All of called the office asking where the bus was and were hung up on. I would never use this service again as they are just a money grab and could care less about you. read more

Four of us in Juneau for the day...what to do? Shopping had limited appeal, but a tour of the glacier called out to us. So glad that we did this! Of course we saw the glacier and enjoyed the informative museum and its guides. In addition, we toured the beautiful Shrine of Saint Therese. What a lovely and peaceful place! Our guide/driver is a Juneau resident who had grown up right in that area. His commentary was the reason the tour came to life for us. read more

Father / son fly-by-night operation. The old man stumbling around talking loudly at people, mechanical probs with our tour van (looked like something out of the 70's), our guide didn't seem to know her stuff or what to tell us at the glacier. Will not use this company again. read more

We signed up for the glacier and hatchery tour on shore, First mistake. Were given a city tour that included a drive by of the drivers house. Whoopee ding and slop the chickens. Got to the glacier, were told we had "about an hour". Got back 5 minutes early and discovered the tour guide had left us at the glacier and we had to find alternate transportation back to the ship. We missed the hatchery tour, asked for a refund and were brushed off. M&M Juneau is not to be confused with M&M Skagway. This is obviously a fly by night operation out of Juneau. We also found most of the people in Juneau to be very rude, Not a pleasant stop. read more

My husband and I book a whale watching tour at the dock after our original helicopter tour was canceled due to weather. We were both very disappointed in the experience. The only plus was the naturist on board, who was very knowledgeable; but, the captain was only interested in showing off his fast driving. We did see some Orkas and Humpbacks (from some distance off). The last time we were told we were moving to another area, it turned out we were really being taken back to shore...even the naturist was stunned. We understand wildlife is very unpredictable, but, this captain really didn't even try. M & M Tours will not get a recommendation from us. read more

My family took our first cruise to Alaska on Holland America and stopped in Juneau for a day. Once we got off the ship, there were rows of people selling local tours. We purchased tickets from Mike to see Juneau, the Mendenhall Glacier and wildlife. The tour was conducted in a van instead of a greyhound bus, and there were only 4 other people in our van. Our driver was Danielle, who was both funny and knowledgeable -- and full of exaggerated stories which made the tour all the more enjoyable. She showed us salmon spawning streams, and we even saw bears, eagles and in the distance some humpback whales. Our favorite part of the trip was the stop at St. Therese. This tour lasted about 3 hours, and was worth the $200 our party paid. I recommend negotiating with the salesmen for discount pricing. We highly recommend this tour -- and if you can, ask for Danielle. She will show you a really great time. read more
