Bought a "quart of freeze dried eggs" that they advertised as being the equivalent of 72 eggs on…read moretheir website. Received the bag and it appeared small so I weighed it and it was 6.6 ounces (187 grams). And that's WITH the mylar bag. Hmm... one freeze dried egg weighs approximately 0.5 ounces or 14 grams. This approximately matches the nutritional content of an egg which is 7 grams of protein, 6 grams of fat, and 0.5 grams of carbs when you take out all the water. So each pouch was actually 12 eggs, not 72. When I contacted them to ask about this discrepancy, they didn't apologize or admit that they made any mistake or had incorrect information on their site. They just said matter-of-factly that I could send the items back for a partial refund (i.e. they wouldn't reimburse me for shipping). Really? Not cool.

They have a ton of vegan items, and that's what I'm all about. BUT.. my only question.. why is everything expired? When I say everything, I mean everything I bought. I got home, and found that all my purchases (mainly frozen ones) were over due - even as old as Jan 2018. Did I miss something? Is that how the Co-op is? Since a majority of what I purchased was frozen, I felt better about it.. but I'm confused. Maybe I'm 100% clueless on co-ops! (If I am, please tell me. ) I bought a vegan cream cheese, Miyoko's: one that I've been looking all over SLC for. I spent $10 for it (Trader Joe's sells one of theirs for 5.49), and I got home to find out it was a month expired. This was not a frozen item, so I feel more sketchy about it. This was the one I was most upset about. $10 for something a month expired (specifically over due on 10/21). I'm having mixed feelings, because I find that this place is so super cute, and has so much to offer SLC, and communities where the Co-op donates time and money. But... I just don't want all of my non-frozen purchases to be expired. Did I miss something? This place would have easily been a 5/5 for me. But based on this... I'm feeling more 3-4/5. I'm just... confused!

Wow, here it is, by far the largest hot sauce selection in not only Utah, but within at least a 500…read moremile radius, maybe more. It is also larger than many online retailers and in point of fact, I'm stumped at the moment to think, even of the largest online hot sauce shops, that have a selection bigger. I very specifically look for these kinds of places and trust me I don't say this lightly, but if you don't want to trust me, I defy anyone to find one bigger within those parameters I just mentioned. Believe me when I tell you we are so very spoiled. A few things you should know (although if you see the ultra wide shot, where I was trying to fit all the shelves in frame, you'll probably get the picture)...the first is that this is in the section called the Upper Level Shops and within Locals Park City in the back corner there. This is actually excellent, if you want to be like me and bask in the glory of this sauce mecca, and remain relatively undisturbed from people shopping for other stuff. The second thing is that this supplants the former Pepper Palace that was in the Lower Level and does so wildly. Even in its heyday, with an entire storefront dedicated to produce, Pepper Palace never came anywhere near this kind of selection (or quality, but that's another story - you can sift through my blog and YouTube channel if you're interested in my experiences with those). The third thing is that there is an entire section dedicated to The Hot Ones online interview show, which, if you're not familiar, is where a dude interviews celebrities while feeding them wings with increasingly hotter sauces. If you were wondering where to get those sauces on a shelf, look no further. So, huge, huge upgrade and yes, parking at the Outlets is a pain and sucks like always, but given how close this is to Salt Lake, I assure you a visit is well, well worth it. I'm still kind of blown away and I've been a chilehead chasing after stuff like this for a long, long time. Roger Damptz, ace proprietor of Burn Your Tongue (which celebrated 15 years in July of this year), has really outdone himself this time. Simply outstanding!
