One of the best boutiques ever. There are locations in Calabasas, Studio City, Del Rey, Westlake, Ventura, and Agoura Hills. The stores are limited to Southern California; so, when I first moved to Los Angeles and began to explore (shopping is an activity that I just can't help but do everyday, whether I had it in mind to do or I had a full day in my "planner" ...actually, back in 2007, I did have a big "At-a-Glance" planner with an entire page per day... Anyway, I stumbled upon the Calabasas Commons because I had looked up in that app, "Around Me" and found that close to one of my three jobs I worked while going to School for my Doctorate, the Calabasas Commons was on my way home from work to where I lived in West Hollywood. I stopped by right away because it mentioned a Barnes & Noble being one of the stores there. First, I spotted M. Fredrick. I saw those gorgeous, hand-picked by their buyer. I didn't realize quite how much less expensive ever was in LA compared to San Francisco. Now, this many years later, it's no longer a thought nor a thing because I've lived here so long, but it was astonishing to me back when I was freshly 22. I picked out about 20-25 pieces of the most beautiful jeans, sweaters, shirts, shoes, tank tops and dresses. I also bought a pair of sweatpants that felt like thick silk, but mostly, like a white tiger- they were the first thing I bought the next morning on my break from work; so, I vividly remember that they were $600 before tax, which, to be honest, I did think they were on the pricey side, but I didn't think of it again. The many items I had purchased the afternoon prior came to almost $23,000, but I never ever in my life looked at prices of anything, so, it was no thing and to this day, I remember probably 7/8ths of what I bought. The clothes were definitely worth it and I would do it again, even now. The only problem is that they don't make clothes how they used to. We don't have the materials or aren't willing to use them on designer boutique clothing. Every chance I could, I went to an M. Fredric store for the next 10 years. read more

This store is always nice and clean, and organized. It's easy to shop through and you don't have to push or shove through racks. Staff is friendly, too. They have a nice program where you get a portion of your shopping total back to spend in the near future. Win win for shopper and store read more

I went into the Westlake store, where I normally shop, but was completely taken aback by the rude and arrogant behavior of the manager. I had selected $500-$600 worth of clothing and asked if I could have a shirt transferred from another store. She said she could do that, but I had to pick it up within two days. When I asked if she could hold it for just one more day, she flat-out refused, saying that was her decision as the manager. The way she spoke to me was so off-putting that I left all the items I was going to purchase. Her attitude made the shopping experience unenjoyable. read more

This chain of stores is the ultimate RAG to the RAG TRADE. How you can make a raggy piece of clothing look good on a human is truly a huge compliment and the Rag Trade deserves tons of accolades for making this type of clothing so popular. I love a few of the pieces of clothing myself because it IS so comfortable. However, you are putting on your body synthetic materials. Not cotton. This is synthetic clothing brought to the public at the highest price point/level. What would be a more pleasant shopping experience turns into a not so pleasant shopping experience when the staff members at the store turn into little snobs/pipsqueaks. What would be a lot better would be employees who took an interest in their customers and started "customer profiles", that would include all of their pertinent data like height, weight, measurements and allow loyal customers to be able to be first in line when a new item comes to market. read more

Honestly in this climate there is no excuse for bad customer service. Several associate walked by us without even a hello, I saw a Tiare Hawaii jumpsuit on the mannequin in the window that I wanted to buy. The ladies working here actively avoided us..literally. I walked up to the mannequin looked at the brand then promptly went in Shopbop to purchase it! That easy for you to lose a sale due to lack of customer service. read more

Outstanding friendly customer service and treatment from the time I entered the Westlake store. It was refreshing to be acknowledged and have the entire sales team focused on me and other customers rather than each other which lately had not been the case in other stores. I was provided a cup of water, surprisingly offered an additional BOGO discount I was not aware of. Overall, I was grateful to find many choices and items I had not been able to find online or in stock at other stores in my size and color, I spent more time in the store and purchased more items as a result. This is now my favorite go to for clothing, jewelry and accessories. Please note the same friendliness was provided in Ventura location too so it must be the company culture. Kudos!! read more

As a personal shopper and wardrobe stylist I am in stores every day all week long and I have been so dismayed at the lack of customer service these days. I must give a HUGE shout out to Nancy at the Mfredric in Westake Village as she truly went above and beyond. On a rare Sunday evening I was out shopping for myself, needing to find some jeans, she was so genuinely helpful, kept checking on me for sizes and was gracious to explain the cash back coupon rewards they offer. I was so thrilled with my jeans I returned 2 days later for a second pair. When I misplaced my coupon she went the extra mile to call corporate and made sure that I was taken care of even on her days off. I literally walked in, no one greeted me, walked the entire store still no one said anything. One sales girl walks around past me, and another one just chatting away to a client. I attempted to make a purchase at your store on Thursday, December 26th and not only did no one welcome me, address me, at all, in the entire store but when I attempted to look at the children's clothes I was blocked by one of your employees and a client for 10-15 minutes. Not only was the client blocking the entire area but your staff did not even acknowledge that another shopper was nearby, she only assisted the one client. So Incredibly rude and careless. Was looking specifically for a horse outfit for a baby gift for a friend who is expecting and literally called this store to ask and the rep knew immediately the perfect outfit. The quality of the clothes here are beyond top quality for children's clothing and the time they took to wrap the gift was a special touch.... it was the least they could do though after spending almost $120 on a single 12month baby girl shirt, basic black tights and a headband though! I am a very good customer of M Fred's. Shop in MB, Calabasas, Woodland Hills, Westlake, but although I like 60 percent of the lines they carry, their business acumen has driven me away. First, they sent an email offering a personal shopping experience during COVID shut down yet when I attempted to schedule this in-person shopping experience according the directions they provided there was a long delay in response followed by an offer for a "curb side" shopping experience. Not quite the same thing, I felt misled and wasted a couple days waiting. Then I received a text saying "stores are open". Called over to learn what rules I should expect. They have a large store in Westlake yet only 4 shoppers allowed at a time. I asked if there was any waiting line outside and was told "no only 3 shoppers in the store and one is checking out". With that info, I left work a little early in order to do some needed shopping for an upcoming trip. As I pulled into the parking lot there's a line of people 6 deep waiting to get in at 4:15 for a 5pm close. Knowing this wasn't going to happen for me, I called to see what time the store opened in the morning. Kendall answered and immediately asked if I would be ok with a "brief" hold. 8 minutes later I hung up. Thinking to myself, "how can you be that busy with only 4 shoppers in the store". I called back and Kendall again attempt to put me on a "brief hold". I said "no, what time do you open tomorrow", she replied 11. Now I'm thinking, "all these weeks you are shut down, small businesses everywhere suffering, and you reopen your doors on Saturday at 11 am and close at 5 pm?" These hours are more restricted than normal hours when the store can be packed with customers? Wow, not really too concerned with making yourself available to the needs of your customers. So flipping ridiculous. I'm going back to the Nordstrom's and I'll drive to Topanga for Saks where you have more liberal return/exchange policies. If small businesses want local customers to support them, they'd better do a better job of showing it. read more

The WORST people work here. The woman just stand around and gossip, give you side eye, they follow you around constantly like lost ducklings, and they leave the sensors on EVERY TIME. When you buy something and don't like it don't expect to get store credit when you return it. They apparently have a policy where you HAVE to pic something out that day or you are out of luck and don't get your money back. 100% calling corporate. Also, don't expect to have a peaceful shopping experience. The second you walk in they all immediately ask what you are there for and will not stop following and talking your ears off even after you say "just looking, thank you" . read more

I'm in town visiting this week and was stilling through the Westlake Shopping center with a friend. We popped into M. Frederic to look around. They had a very large and beautiful selection of clothing, although the prices are very steep, even for Westlake Village. A few items were on sale. The sales lady was the store manager and she was incredibly kind and helpful! She went several times to look in the back for different sizes. I ended up with a gorgeous burnt sienna colored sweater, perfect for fall. My friend liked it so much, she got one in green. I will absolutely make sure to stop back into the store during future visits to Westlake. read more

Honestly, I didn't think anyone was going to help me but she persisted and was very nice and genuine. I ended up leaving with two outfits and will be a continuing customer, even if it's online. Shout out to Nancy, Andi and Crystal, I stopped in to look around a bit. The store is well maintained with adequate inventory in all sizes. It is obvious that the staff take pride in the way the store is maintained (good job Crystal). Immediately, I was greeted with smiles and friendly assistance, it was like shopping with friends. Nancy was so sweet, and it turns out that she was the manager of the store when it was in Sherman Oaks on Ventura Blvd, I thought she is much too young to have worked there back then, but she assured me that she wasn't. Andi and I discussed our excitement when going to the main store (warehouse) on Sepulveda, I couldn't believe it! I thought for sure that those memories were long gone! I found many pieces of clothing to include, a dress, a pair of joggers, leggings, shorts, t-shirt and a hat (I had to get the hat). I only came in for a dress, but oh well!
