I got a gift card from this store a long time ago and finally had the chance to use it. Despite a small issue with the gift card, thanks to Sara, it got resolved, and I was able to do some shopping. It's a very small boutique with unique clothes, jewelry, purses, and shoes. I had a great time browsing and deciding what to get. Sara was very helpful--she even offered me a discount on an item. I was pleasantly surprised when I stumbled into this boutique. She's got some very nice pieces in her shop. Beautiful fabrics. Unique patterns and designs I haven't seen elsewhere. It's priced fairly too....you'll spend about $100 (up to $500 for some pieces) but you know you'll have quality. There's something for everyone at Rubys. She's also got some nice sleepwear, bags, jewelry and these 24k sunglasses that are gorgeous! Hand creams and candles too. I got a coconut mango candle that is beautifully packaged and smells delicious. I wasn't prepared to shop shop but I had to get something from her shop out of respect. First off, I don't write a lot a reviews and I tend to only write reviews when I feel strongly about a place and its service. This is my first review that reflects poorly on a company. A friend and I met at Boccacio's on the lake for brunch the Sunday before last and had a wonderful time and then took a quiet stroll along the shops where we came across a cute boutique called "Tres Chic Boutique". I saw a pair of Jean/pants hanging on the front doorway that appeared to be just what I have been looking for. The price was a bit high but if they could replace my favorite pair of pants I thought it might be worth it. I tried them on and decided to splurge and purchased the pants. I paid with a credit card and the sales gal asked if I wanted the receipt in the bag to which I agreed. When I got home, I tried the pants on with the proper shoes and decided they just didn't have the perfect fit that warranted the price as they unfortunately were never going to replace my old favs. So I folded the pants and placed them back in the bag. On the following Saturday I drove 45 minutes back to the boutique to make my return. I was told that they only give store credit! There were no signs stating the "company policy" however the sales gal did point out that it said so right on the receipt which I never saw since it was placed in the bag; so I guess they are off the hook..... legally. Now I have a $175 credit in a boutique that had nothing else that I cared for (except some very pretty candles) and is a 45 minute drive from my home! Who knows when I can get back to the boutique and if on that date they will have something that interests me. To top it off, the credit receipt they gave me is on thermal paper that will fade over time. They didn't even bother to put it in their system so I could just show them my I.D. when and if I ever make it back. In sales this is called "breakage" ...prepaying a fixed amount and then faiing to use any of the goods or services for which was already paid....obviously an easy money maker for any business. This maybe legal but is it a good way to conduct business, I think not! I could have... and should have had the choice to purchase with a sign at the counter clearly stating their "return policy." I tend to purposely shop and promote small businesses whenever possible; but is it any wonder small businesses are going by the wayside if they provide this type of customer service? Its amazing to me that many big box or major corporation seem to care more about customer service then a small boutique! I will not be recommending patronizing Tres Chic Boutique...... what a shame! read more
