I was a little anxious that they were late, but once they got there they were polite, fast, respectful and relatable. They even made my 13 year old daughter feel good. We have used MK Movers for years. This time was terrible. And bad on me for not getting insurance. We have very expensive Stickley furniture, now it's less expensive as almost every piece had damage-some excessive damage! I don't even know who can fix it! I'd give a list on this review but I'd run out of characters! I'm also missing parts of other pieces (like a glass top of a table), and shelves from a book shelf. Some rivets were popped out. Crown molding on the top of an armoire was badly damaged. My desk, couch, and numerous tables had scrapes and gouges. The worst part is we paid them thousands to move us out for remodeling and back in, AND paid $500 per month to store our now badly damaged furniture!!!! Hired MK for a third time. They were heavily staffed with college kids who we found were not sufficiently trained. They damaged three different pieces of wood furniture (two the only antiques we own) that were insufficiently wrapped and protected in our move. The team lead took photos when we pointed out the damage, and now it's been 2.5 weeks with no response to phone calls or email for follow up on repair. Their phone system has no option for claims, no live answer, and the recorded message says your call won't be forwarded to the right person if you left it in the wrong mailbox. Mitch came out to give us a quote for a local move. During his quote, he's asking how heavy the boxes are (that WE packed) and that if it's snowing, "my guys might slip and get hurt". Mitch, your business is MOVING! Are you really that concerned about snow? It's YOU'RE job to move people from point A to B regardless of conditions!!! NEVER have we been asked "how heavy the boxes are" or weather conditions. His quote came in SO high we obviously bailed on MK Movers, we knew he didn't want the business. My move went smoothly. 4 guys came, did great job, nothing broken, moved heavy bedroom furniture without scratching stairs. Took longer, cost $300 more than estimated. Almost didn't get everything on truck for one load, but did in the end. I tipped guys well, I always do when it's a job well done. I was surprised to hear from the office that the guys complained about the elevator in the new complex I moved to. I said would they rather there NOT be one and have to use the stairs?? I did not understand the guys complaint since they didn't say anything to me. I called to discuss the cost after the move since it was so much more. They agreed to refund half of the increase. I was ok with that. I would use MK again. They were not the cheapest but they were good and respectful of my property and worked hard the whole 5 1/2 hours. We hired MK Movers for our move in August. Mitch came out to our house and went over everything for the move, what it would cost, etc. They were very reasonably priced and after doing two moves ourselves with a U-Haul, we felt it was the best money we ever spent. The four guys showed up at at the later end of the window and got right to work. They wrapped the furniture and handled all of our items with care. We did not have one thing broken in our move. They were very efficient and had our move done in 5 hours when we were quoted for 7. The guys were friendly and made sure we had boxes and furniture the right rooms at the new house. Don't do it. First of all they told me I didn't have to take the clothes out of the drawers. (5 dressers). Also I had a full freezer of meat. On the initial meeting they said no problem, you don't have to remove anything out of there. We ordered plenty of wardrobe boxes, some of the movers were putting the clothes out of the closets in the boxes. I thought great. So while I scurried around trying to figure out how I was going to pack all the clothes from the drawers, and freezer they were moving and packing the truck. (We noticed after the movers left that they left mostly all of our clothes in the closets). It happened so fast. They literally took every wire out of every device we owned. We had no idea where everything went when we got to our new home. They took things apart like the feet on my sofa (Didn't need to either) and we had to search for those. Also, They moved our expensive Baby Grand player piano. It made it safe to the new house, we thought. Only to find out someone broke the player part on the piano. They actually smashed the CD player so you couldn't get the CD out. Note: One of the main reasons we got professional movers was so the Baby Grand made it safe. They went to lunch and returned with only two guys after about an hour. The boss stated "Don't worry the clock stops until the rest of the crew comes back. Finally about an hour later the full crew (about 8 guys) started again. They couldn't finish on time so they called in two more guys at the end and charged us an extra 500. I looked out and the random guys were actually standing around outside of the new house doing nothing padding the bill. Earlier I kept telling the boss we had to be completely out of our old house at midnight or we would be charged. It didn't seem to worry him so I didn't worry. My husband actually had to go rent another truck the next day and finish the move. He filled a large truck and we ended up with a penalty for breaching our contract with the sale of our home. The boss kept saying I wasn't ready for them. Well guess what I would have had all the drawers packed before they got there freezer emptied etc. Instead while I was side-tracked doing that they didn't do the job. There was no way to monitor what they were doing they had us busy doing that. This was a large home they were moving us out of. NEW POLICY: If you have to cancel or reschedule your move, you will be charged as follows: If the estimate is less than $1,000, you will be charged $100. If your estimate is over $1,000, you will be charged 10% of the estimated cost of your move. I *do* understand why the company is doing this. Every time someone cancels or reschedules, the company loses money, because that time slot could have been used for another client. They recommend three people to help with the move. Should have had two. One did a lot of watching. Problem was the threee of them moved the items a single person could carry and then the third guy watched the other two carry the two person items which was probably about half our stuff. Damaged some walls. Dented our fridge. Made manager or owner aware. Didn't call back. I called and made contact. He said he tried to call but no VM or missed calls. Was going to send someone out to repair walls on a couple of occasions but never did. Said if I wanted fridge repaired I would need to find a repairperson and we would discuss cost. Way to take ownership of your mistakes! The guys worked hard but just didn't seem to be very efficient. One was always telling the other two what to do. I wouldn't recommend them. read more

I will start with the good because it wasn't all bad, but mostly bad. - arrived in time - the actual men moving my stuff were polite - bought them lunch and they were super thankful - movers handled all my stuff with care as they were moving out of my old house - guys were super nice who were moving it into the new house - owner was helpful - the staff who answers the phones and handle claims are super super nice and helpful Now the bad: - moving out of my old house, they ran out of room. We asked them what we are supposed to do, the crew leader shrugged his shoulders and pulled away. So we had to spent 4 hours trying to pack up the rest of the stuff and getting extra people over. I ended up having to leave probably a pick up truck full of stuff behind because we just didn't have the room. - when we called the owner initially tried to say I cancelled one of the trucks, but my husband corrected him and he apologized. Gave us a discount of $500. Guaranteed I left $2k worth of yard stuff behind. - the move in was 2 days after the move out and we ended up getting the same crew leader. He was rude and didn't care and just did his own thing - the guys were super polite. Some of them listened to where I told them to put stuff, other pretended to and put it wherever they wanted. Mind you everything was labeled where to go. - it took me 2 weeks to figure out where all my stuff was. 1/2 the stuff was not anywhere near where the label or I had said to go. - they damaged my floor and carpet. Thank god I had the insurance because they gouged they crap out of the wood floors - then we went out the garage and they were getting ready to leave and we looked and they had put at least 20 boxes that were not labeled garage in the garage. I'm guessing because it was easier? So my husband asked them to move them to the right place. The foreman rolled his eyes, huffed and stopped packing up and had his guys move this stuff. I am a super laid back person and so is my husband. We know it was hot, so like crap happens. I wasn't upset about the damage, but I was absolutely upset at the attitude and laziness of the crew leader. How he got that high up is shocking. Especially in a customer facing position. I talked to my realtor and he said that we were the third one of his clients that had a terrible experience lately. I would say we could blame Covid but this foreman or crew leader has been with the company for some time. So I can't actually blame Covid. I have moved with professional movers at least 5 times, and I promise you I would never ever recommend this company to anyone. I am sincerely shocked by all the good reviews because they tricked me. Maybe it depends on the crew, I'm not sure. Also, my last name changed so if the owner tries to say he doesn't have record of us moving with them, it's BS. I requested several quotes on moving and Mitch (the owner at M.K. Movers) was the only one to reach out personally and offer to come do a free walk through to give me a quote. M.K. Movers stuck to that initial quote very well, we only ended up $50 over it due to a slight time overage. The crew that moved us was extremely personable, careful, professional, and fast. First time using a moving service but we were blown away. They were extremely receptive to my wife directing boxes into each room at the new house. They moved some seriously heavy items without the slightest complaint or issue. One of our small Buddha statues suffered some damage in the move and they were very open and honest about it which I appreciated a lot, otherwise everything was pretty much perfect. The price was slightly more than some other places(who knows if they would've stuck to their estimates though since they didn't actually come do a walk through) but I figured you get what you pay for with something like moving and I was happy to be proven right. read more

I received their name as a referral but was disappointed with the unprofessional service we received. Cigarette buds left all over our driveway, guys did the minimum and when I asked for additional help emptying our pod, they said we packed it and it was unsafe. I'm a 110 lb 5 ft 3 women who emptied the POD and not one thing fell on me. We were looking for a company to help us since we were both working very long hours and have 3 kids under 5. Not to mention, not one face mask was worn or even asked to be worn, they walked all over our brand new home with their dirty shoes. They asked for a tour to see where items went, did that, told them, labeled boxes and as they walked in, they continuously asked where they should put the boxes. Items were put in all different rooms (kitchen put in bedrooms, etc.). We really needed help with the move, we got 10x the amount of help last time we moved and I wish I reused those movers but I couldn't find their information. Just a frustrating situation when we really needed more help. I did receive an apology phone call but when I tried to reach out while this was happening, no response was given. read more
