DONT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOUR DAUGHTER!!! BEWARE!!! They charged me $368.55 for THIS blonde highlight (see pictures). AMY TODD did this to my hair, Scott's "advanced protégé." When I asked why it was so expensive before paying at the salon, Scott came over and said it was the amount of foils Amy used, and that it was "a full highlight." As you can see by the pictures, not only is this NOT a full highlight, but she put the least amount of foils in my hair of any colorist I've been to. There were other people in the salon, so I paid without causing a scene, and decided to follow up the next day ([[HIGHLIGHT]]I was told someone would call me back for 3-4 days and no one ever did[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]) [[HIGHLIGHT]]Finally I called and got Scott, but he refused to let me speak to Amy directly, and when I sent him pictures of the color and asked for some kind of refund/reimbursement he not only refused to change the price of the service, but said he "stood by Amy's choices" that he looked it over and "he wouldn't have changed anything."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Then he told me he was going to cancel my next appointment at the Salon (not that I wouldn't have cancelled myself, but I think this says a lot about Scott and his business ethics). ***Hidden in the pricing portion of the website is a link to "minimum charges," where they list an hourly rate!!! Scott leaned into this as to why he wouldn't give me any money back... So the 30 minutes he spent telling me his life story while Amy "went to the bathroom," and after Amy messed up my color and was forced to use toner for another hour and a half, etc, they were charging me $86.25/hour on top of the service charges. I have (had?) very long, curly, frizzy hair that I've had straightened with varying degrees of success since I was 12. Brandie is great! My hair always looks wonderful after seeing her - and I will miss her expertise and friendliness when we leave. I travel around the US and have had a lot of bad hair color experiences (even from highly toted salons that charge a lot of money), it was such a relief to find someone with Brandie's expertise. I was nervous because I've had many bad haircuts before. My hair is thick, wavy, and stubborn - I've found it takes a lot more skill to cut it well. Both Melanie and Scott were awesome and so friendly. Scott and Melanie were so warm and welcoming that I felt like I had known them for years. Now to the nitty gritty: the salon is meticulous and I felt safe from any Covid exposure. All three of us wore masks. Melanie asked a lot of questions about my hair since it was my first visit. She shortened the length to my shoulders and I absolutely love the cut. Another pleasant surprise was the wonderful subtle fragrance my hair had from the products she used, and it was still there after I washed it a couple of days later. I have been to the M Scott Salon twice. Both times the work was superb and the professionalism and kindness of the staff nearly unprecedented. I was impressed by the attention to detail and the willingness to suggest what is best versus what I originally had in mind. You are treated like someone they really value. My only concern is the unpredictable discrepancy between the estimated cost and the final bill, both visits resulting in a significant markup, probably due to suggestions made that I didn't realize costed so much more. So dialogue about pricing could be stronger. That being said, the work is so good that I may continue going while waiting much longer in between visits. Give them a try and you will be happily surprised by how good they make you look on your way out the door. read more

I made an appointment with Amy given she is listed as having expertise in all aspects of coloring. I was a darker ginger medium length wanted to embrace my silver undergrowth and add some purple. I also cut off like 6 inches. It took almost 7 hours. Amy was so reassuring at every step of the process. Amy and Scott both stayed late on their Friday. They offered refreshments continuously. Amy, Scott and Brandi all put their heads together to come up with formulas. It was the best experience I have ever had at a hair salon and I used to be a client at a swanky place outside of Washington DC.
