Eddy was patient at hearing my problems and took diligent notes. the mechanic Edwardo had me out with new sway bar links in 45 minutes and I was good to go! Took car in for nys inspection and asked how long will it take? before looking at the car the…read moreperson who greeted me in the empty garage on a Friday afternoon said they need to do a full inspection and IF the car passes inspection he would call me I asked a different way , I said well seems a little slow how long if you do the inspection right now the test usually takes 15 mins or less again his response was if you pass inspection. This seemed very odd to me and gave me a different feeling like he knew something that he couldn't have know. Long story short they failed my car And quoted me $600 for back brake pads because they were low and a passenger side mirror crack. I took my car to my usual mechanic who is generally extremely busy, which is why I did not go to him for the inspection. My usual mechanic said my brake pads are low, but not low enough to fail me. They would have to be metal on metal to fail the test and as far as the side passenger mirror, I had one in my car so I had him fix my brakes because they were low anyway, and it was $200 for the front and back not 450 for just the back. Prospect auto repair is a rip off. I go to a nice man on 65th St. between 13th and 14th Ave. please check them out. There's also another very good one on 35th St. and third Avenue.

Take your car to this place at your own risk. First, to get an appointment you may have to wait…read moreweeks. Second, you have to bring the car in at 7am or they won't take you. Third, always get a second estimate before you engage them. My experience is that their pricing is crazy. They overcharge because there are so few repair shops in the area. I've gotten so many lower estimates from other shops that I don't waste my time with them anymore. Finally, the owner's son who basically runs the Nevins shop is rude and ignorant. Never going back.

A few weeks ago I had gotten into a car accident. I was stranded on a three lane highway waiting…read morefor the cops to come in Brooklyn for about five hours. (They never actually showed) While I was waiting Gill had pulled over asked if me and my cousin were okay and gave us his information in case we needed a tow. The accident was at 7pm, by about 1AM me and my cousins finally had enough and called Gill. He came and towed our car immediately. Since it was the lady's fault he said don't worry about the cost of the tow or anything and that he would deal with the insurance company. After about two weeks I was made aware the lady had lied to the insurance company and they would not cover my car. I called Gill in a panic and explained I really needed my car and although I was almost positive it was totaled I asked if he could take a look and give me a price. He called me within to days with an unbelievable price. He told me he could have the car fixed by the next week and he would call and keep me posted. I was very surprised considering the frame was bent in the front, the radiator, the condenser, and the fan belts all had to be replaced and the bumper and lights were dangling off the car. Although it all sounded to good to be true I waiting and sure enough he called the following week and the car was ready. Everything was fixed and the car has been running great, not to add he was able to use my old grill and lights and reattach them since they weren't smashed to save me some money. Lastly, the day I went to pick the car up I had to take and subway and then a bus. It wasn't easy for me to get to the shop without the car. Gill offered to pick me up in my car which not only saved me a ton of time but also allowed me to see it and make sure it felt okay while driving. This place is awesome. This whole accident was such a nightmare for me and Gill had made the whole situation so much better. Its nice to no theres honest shops out there still.

Charged me 400 (!!!) for a new reservoir. A few days later it was still leaking at the same rate with no traces. Took it to another shop. Bad water pump and a cracked head gasket between cylinder 1 & 2. Repaired, now the car is running perfectly and holding its coolant. The head gasket was a big bill, but it was necessary.
