They attempted to charge me over $3,500 for unnecessary repairs and were deceptive about their qualifications to service my vehicle. The mechanic lacked basic knowledge about turbo engines, making it clear they had no expertise with this type of car. I also felt that the front desk staff and owner may have been trying to take advantage of me as a young woman by attempting to charge me such an obscene amount for a simple diagnostic (close to $400...) I recently had a light in my dash go on while I was driving back to Brooklyn from Nashville, TN, and thinking it was my oil pressure light, I pulled over on the highway in the middle of nowhere in TN. I called New Millennium and Maria and Javier worked with me over the phone to determine if it was safe to drive my car (it was). I was charged $260 for front rotors and $80 for front brake pads. This was insane. I did not really have a say because my car was already on the jack in mid air, the tires were off, and I also needed my inspection done. If I declined the installation, I would have failed the inspection and had to pay for it anyway. A mechanic friend of mine took a look at the rotors that were installed and said that he could've gotten the same ones for 1/3 of the cost. They clearly took advantage of an uneducated consumer. Labor is understandable at $100+ an hr. Inspection was $37 - standard price. Only reason I give a 2 star instead of a 1 star is because the owner seemed nice and the work was done within the same day. read more

I have been using New Millennium Motors for years. Reliable and honest. He knows that I want the repairs done right and he has never given me back a car that had any problems. Over the years he has also take care of issues that behave arisen from defective parts, he replaced an AC compressor that he replaced on my 2005 Honda that lasted only 8 months for free since it was under the replacement part warrenty. I have knocking sound coming from my engine at cold start. I took my car here. They told me the oil level was low and that's why the engine made the knocking sound at cold start. They refilled the oil with one quart of oil and sound has gone away. That's what they said and charged me 153$ for basically refilling the oil. The next day I cold start the car and it makes the same knocking sound. I called them, told them that they didn't fix the issue. They told me I should bring the car in so they can further investigate the problem. I said sure, so you can charge me another 153$ for nothing? No way, I'll take my care to a different shop. So this is the professionalism that you can read on all the five star reviews. Oh and another thing. I left a one start review on their website. And guess what, it did not appear on the site. Looking on the reviews on their website, all of them are five stars, there are 700+ reviews, all five stars. Not a single four star. I recently discovered the hard way (read: by getting a ticket) that the inspection on my car had expired about 10 days ago. Being the law-abiding citizen that I am and certainly not wanting to risk additional financial liability, I made a point of quickly remedying the situation. I don't really have "a guy" in the area who I go to for car stuff. I tend to go to a place in Sheepshead Bay for most of my auto work, but they're not open on Saturdays, so I took to Yelp and found New Millennium. I called and Andreas, the owner, was polite and told me that if I came right away, he could probably have the car back in less than an hour. Short story even shorter, Andreas is a great guy, honest, and runs a nice shop. He did my inspection in about 45 mins and instilled enough faith in me that I will gladly bring my car back to him when I need actual repairs done. Repair shops are a dime a dozen in the Gowanus area, so to have honed in on one that is legit and reliable is a real relief. So I went to go see Andreas after struggling to get an appointment with Roland for my Saab. I am so happy with their work. I was last time too. I have been getting tickets for an expired inspection and needed to get that code fixed right away, plus some other repairs. My car now runs like I first bought it. He even gave me a temporary inspection so I wouldn't get a ticket. I had strut fixed, tires replaced, a wiring issue giving me a code, fluid changes etc. and a temporary inspection. I forgot how good these guys were and my bad for trying to go to Roland -- Who by the way, I took it to get the code fixed two weeks ago and I received it with the code still tripping. When I called and left a message to make another appointment with Roland, all I got back were crickets. Saab owners should just come here! Not only did they not fix our issue, they messed up our car. We originally came to this place last year with air conditioning problem. It all started with them saying we also needed oil change, when we had just changed oil less than 2 weeks prior. Red flag right there. But the reviews were good and we live in the area, so we decided to give them a shot. Their mechanic diagnosed malfunctioning compressor, even though there was no issue with the pressure or the flow. The air just wasn't cold. We purchased the new compressor from FCP Euro. Then the mechanic said he had to keep putting more and more freon, which they charged us an arm and a leg for after they had already done that. AC still wasn't blowing cold air after all this. We went back the very same day and all they could say "Well, we don't know; we diagnosed the compressor and changed it; we don't know why it didn't work". They wanted to change yet another expensive part, but we decided to cut our losses. Now our Volvo mechanic says this new compressor is shot, because it was overflowing with freon. These Millennium people overloaded the new compressor. So their incompetence is still costing us a lot of money. Do not come here, if you are looking for a good mechanic. All they do is try to get as much money as possible before you wise up to their tricks. read more
