My friend brought me and my family here for breakfast and I was warned about the food but it was really for a relaxing morning with a nice view. We ordered their M32 breakfast for 2 which consists of various ham, salami, smoked salmon, cheese, eggs, fruits and pasties as well as one cold and one hot beverage per person. Although the food itself wasn't anything extraordinary and seemed like it was just put together with store bought ingredients, for €48, it wasn't too bad of a deal considering it also includes 2 drinks. You also can't beat the view as it provides a panoramic view of the city. The service is slow but I learned that's the norm. Overall, the food isn't the best but I've also only tired their breakfast so I cannot comment on lunch or dinner. It is a great option to relax while enjoying the view of the city. read more

I came to this restaurant to enjoy the view and have an afternoon drink because it was recommended in my guidebook. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the service. When we arrived, there was a sign at the entrance saying, "Please wait to be seated," but no one came to help us for about 10 minutes. It was around 3:00 p.m., and the restaurant was not busy at all. I could see several staff members, but none acknowledged us. Eventually, we were told that if we were only having drinks, we had to sit at the back of the terrace, where the view was much less impressive. Although there were plenty of vacant tables at the front of the terrace, we were directed to a table without a tablecloth at the back. About five minutes later, the staff began removing the tablecloths from the front terrace tables and started seating customers who were only having drinks in those same prime spots. I couldn't help but wonder: if they were going to change the seating arrangement just five minutes later, why couldn't we have been seated there from the beginning to enjoy the view? The service was minimal, unfriendly, and far from welcoming. While the view is undeniably beautiful, the overall experience was disappointing. I would recommend enjoying the same spectacular view from the nearby viewpoint instead of spending your time or money at this restaurant. read more

HORRIBLE experience. Don't waste your time and money. I arrived and waited 10 mins at the server stand (see picture). At the entrance of the restaurant there is a sign that says "please wait to be seated". I made eye contact with MULTIPLE staff calling them over to seat me. No one bothered to even come seat me. They saw me standing there and did not bother to acknowledge us. Hell - even a "hey the host will be right over" would have been nice. They simply chose to ignore me. I called to confirm my reservation so they knew I was coming. I waited for 10 mins and ultimately decided to leave. If you don't want to seat me for my reservation then I do not want to spend money with you. Ridiculous. More negatives: PAID elevator - you are REQUIRED to pay for a damn elevator up to the museum to eat. €5.90 EACH (€12 before even sitting). They give you a return ticket. I did have to walk to the back of the restaurant to ask someone for a return ticket on the elevator or be required to pay another €5.90 to go back to my car. Parking - insanely confusing. No clear direction. Required to park in a specific garage that your GPS will be unable to get to. So good luck. read more

Amazing view from here but it comes with high price... I came here for late lunch after exploring the modern museum. I was so mesmerized by the amazing view, I sat down for lunch without checking a menu price. I had mountain lake salmon for lunch and portion size and flavor was very good. Fresh water salmon was sourced locally, probably from one of the lakes I saw from a train up to Salzburg. It was so moist and cooked to perfection. Champagne nicely complimented the lunch, it was truly leisurely moment. It was about 50€ and more than I wanted to pay for lunch but it was just what I needed for relaxing time. read more

The views are amazing. The food is horrible. They started the meal with an amuse bouche which might as well have been a kick in the mouth. Tuna sashimi seared with a very pungent unappealing sauce. It made me gag. The rest of the meal was ok but that gift from the kitchen was bad bad bad. The restaurant has so much unmet potential. CRAP! We were looking forward to a nice meal after walking around and seeing sites all afternoon. We were greeted by a man who only offered us the option to "drink." We told him we would like to eat as well, and it seemed as if we inconvenienced him, because still, he only gave us a drink menu. After waiting 10-15 minutes I finally had to bother another staff member to give us a menu. (Although after ordering, the food came out pretty quickly.) Food was disappointing. I ordered the wiener schnitzel with cranberry sauce and parsley potatoes. The breading fell off the meat completely as I was eating, and the food was flavorless. M32 really nailed our expectations. This restaurant has a lot to make up for because of the locals bad vibes toward the restaurant and the MOMA in general(it's ugly and out of place. They call it the shoebox). Because we are travelers and were underdressed, we were still able to sit outside on the deck and dine where a partial menu was available. After ordering the Asparagus, club sandwich, beef broth soup with pancake strips, we were all pleased with our meals. Beef Broth with pancake strips: Over salted, but not as over-salted as other places. Good taste. Asparagus with rosemary potatoes: Potatoes had great flavor and were cooked the perfect amount. Not too hard and not too soft. The asparagus was over salted, but tasted fine with the hollandaise sauce and cooked pruschetta. Club sandwiches with chips: Huge. Had a fried egg on them. Overall good taste. Homemade chips were the bomb.com. Fries: Not that good. Overall a good restaurant and would want to return to enjoy the full menu and full experience. Very expensive but totally worth it - an experience you HAVE to make while in Salzburg. You can get up the hill by taking the Mönchsbergaufzug (2,30 EUR one way) - for the way back down you might get a voucher at the cafe. I have noticed that you get one upon paying, but I think there is some certain amount you have to spend in order to get that voucher because I saw that not everyone received it. Be aware of the high prices but please treat yourself with this amazing experience, because this is one of the best views that you can get while in Salzburg! read more

M32 has some of the best views of Salzburg and is well worth the walk up the hill, or of course you can take the lift up to the top if you can not walk up the hill. During the warmer weather you can sit outside which is great, however the view is still spectacular from inside, as the restaurant has a full glass front window, so you view is not blocked at all. The service and food is outstanding, however you do pay for the great view and service. It is on the expensive side of restaurant, however in my opinion it is well worth it. read more

Despite the many bad reviews regarding the service at this place, my fiancé and I decided to give it a try due to the spectacular views they offer (spoiler they are good, but keep reading). When we arrived and asked where we could sit, they said anywhere, then refused us a seat which offered a better view. We ordered some drinks, and saw that one of the tables along the railing had opened so asked if we could move there and she said struggled to find a reason to say no and made up a story by saying it was reserved and then proceeded to put a reserved sign on the table. 10 minutes later a group of people who clearly didn't have a reservation (were wandering around looking for a table for awhile) sat there, and the waitress allowed them to. This then happened two more times. We had to flag her down to get another drink. It was clear they didn't cater to people who weren't eating, and perhaps who were foreigners like us. Again, the view was great, but there are tons of places in Salzburg that offer great views (try one of the restaurants in Festung Hohensalzburg). 1/5. Would NOT recommend to a friend. read more

An amazing location with the best views of the castle. The food was excellent. A definite five stars for food and location. The service fell short. Our food was very slow in arriving and my order came 15 minutes after the others. Staff looked over worked and were short tempered. Argued back about food not arriving at the same time. One guest at the table next to us got a completely wrong dish and had to wait for the correct dish to arrive while her companion ate. When it was time to pay we were told our total before we got the printed bill. We had the money ready but we're not given a chance to check the bill. Great views and ambiance. Food is pretentious but just ok. Acceptable at best. A little pricey. The thing that brings the place down is the service. There are lots of wait staff bustling about but they are very unattentive. Getting your order taken or paying is a real chore. One gentleman left in disgust at another table. Another guest walked up to a wait person to fetch her for payment. We took a while to get our menus and food order in. Presentation of food was excellent. Serving size rather small. My suggestion is that you get a couple of the four euro side dishes with your main if you are hungry. read more

We went for an afternoon drink on 5/17 around 3 pm. A male waiter said they were closing in 30 minutes for a private party. I asked if we could order drinks and he said that was fine. We sat at a table on the patio for 10-15 minutes but no one came to our table. Yes, the view was great, but a nice view with no service at all generally doesn't work for me. I finally went inside to order drinks at the bar. However, no one was working the bar either. I approached a female server inside the restaurant to ask about ordering a drink. She said "we are closing in a little while." I asked "can I order a glass of wine?" No kidding, she looked me right in the eye and said "no," straight up. At this point I was a little fed up. Next to me was a tray of pre-filled water glasses. I told her that I'd just have water, took two glasses and went back to my table. Moments later another young woman came to our table and proceeded to get in my face about taking the two waters, saying it wasn't a self-service restaurant. I was a waiter myself back in my college days and I understand the frustrations that come with the job. This woman, however, was incredibly rude and overreactive. Based on other reviews, it appears this is not an isolated incident. Avoid his place if you can. read more

I was at the m32 for a closed event. I unfortunately didn't get a chance to visit the museum but the restaurant and its staff outdid themselves. The 9-course meal left no wish unfulfilled and the view over Salzburg was simply amazing.....all in a natural setting. There's also a big terrace to admire the views a bit more intensely. read more

We had breakfast a couple of days ago- and for the gorgeous view and the nice location we were absolutely willing to pay a little bit more than elsewhere! But we were so disappointed by the staff! First of all our waitress was not too friendly, and after finishing our breakfast we sat there for quite a while and nobody asked if we would need anything else! When we asked if it would be possible to order another drink the reaction was not appropriate either! What a terrible experience. I had no expectations prior. Greeting was terrible. Declined the table we wanted claiming they were all reserved. No one showed up to the empty restaurant while we were there. Food was fine but way over priced. Service abysmal. Worse we've seen in Austria. Just nothing to recommend this place at all. The best recommendation I have is to avoid it. Staff avoided us and obviously did not was to help us. Possibly a language or cultural issue as I was speaking English. read more
