Host stand with no one at it
    Rohit K.

HORRIBLE experience. Don't waste your time and money. I arrived and waited 10 mins at the server stand (see picture). At the entrance of the restaurant there is a sign that says "please wait to be seated". I made eye contact with MULTIPLE staff calling them over to seat me. No one bothered to even come seat me. They saw me standing there and did not bother to acknowledge us. Hell - even a "hey the host will be right over" would have been nice. They simply chose to ignore me. I called to confirm my reservation so they knew I was coming. I waited for 10 mins and ultimately decided to leave. If you don't want to seat me for my reservation then I do not want to spend money with you. Ridiculous. More negatives: PAID elevator - you are REQUIRED to pay for a damn elevator up to the museum to eat. €5.90 EACH (€12 before even sitting). They give you a return ticket. I did have to walk to the back of the restaurant to ask someone for a return ticket on the elevator or be required to pay another €5.90 to go back to my car. Parking - insanely confusing. No clear direction. Required to park in a specific garage that your GPS will be unable to get to. So good luck.

Review for dinner on New Years Eve. Lovely 5+ hour dining experience with a set course menu. Pricey, but paying for the best view of fireworks in Salzburg, unlimited wine, and a great DJ keeping things going after midnight for a multi-generational crowd. Food was very solid - nothing that blew us away, but no misses. Creative flavors and presentation, very friendly wait staff.

CRAP! We were looking forward to a nice meal after walking around and seeing sites all afternoon. We were greeted by a man who only offered us the option to "drink." We told him we would like to eat as well, and it seemed as if we inconvenienced him, because still, he only gave us a drink menu. After waiting 10-15 minutes I finally had to bother another staff member to give us a menu. (Although after ordering, the food came out pretty quickly.) Food was disappointing. I ordered the wiener schnitzel with cranberry sauce and parsley potatoes. The breading fell off the meat completely as I was eating, and the food was flavorless. My husband had the burger with potatoes, which was decent, but not worth the price we paid. Menu was limited and very overpriced. Would NOT recommend.

M32 really nailed our expectations. This restaurant has a lot to make up for because of the locals bad vibes toward the restaurant and the MOMA in general(it's ugly and out of place. They call it the shoebox). Because we are travelers and were underdressed, we were still able to sit outside on the deck and dine where a partial menu was available. After ordering the Asparagus, club sandwich, beef broth soup with pancake strips, we were all pleased with our meals. Beef Broth with pancake strips: Over salted, but not as over-salted as other places. Good taste. Asparagus with rosemary potatoes: Potatoes had great flavor and were cooked the perfect amount. Not too hard and not too soft. The asparagus was over salted, but tasted fine with the hollandaise sauce and cooked pruschetta. Club sandwiches with chips: Huge. Had a fried egg on them. Overall good taste. Homemade chips were the bomb.com. Fries: Not that good. Overall a good restaurant and would want to return to enjoy the full menu and full experience. Pros: Decent food Fantastic view Good service Cons: Too much salt Half menu

A feast for my eyes and stomach! You must sit on the patio and soak up the spectacular view. Staff, food and location were all perfect!

    Really nice table settings

M32 has some of the best views of Salzburg and is well worth the walk up the hill, or of course you can take the lift up to the top if you can not walk up the hill. During the warmer weather you can sit outside which is great, however the view is still spectacular from inside, as the restaurant has a full glass front window, so you view is not blocked at all. The service and food is outstanding, however you do pay for the great view and service. It is on the expensive side of restaurant, however in my opinion it is well worth it.

Good food, but a little expensive. Friendly staff. The view is fantastic.

Great place to sit and have a romantic dinner. Food is just ok. Had veal with beef shank tomato and nothing jumps out. Go at your own risk.

You can get up the hill by taking the Mönchsbergaufzug (2,30 EUR one way) - for the way back down you might get a voucher at the cafe.

Yelpers so…read morerecommended this place that we tried to go our first night in town, and were advised that it might be a 30 minute wait -- but the staff *also* told the 7 parties ahead of us that it might be a 30 minute wait for them, too. So we went elsewhere. We went back the next night at an off-hour and while the food was fine, I would have been highly disappointed had we waited in line for 30 minutes, let alone 2 or more hours. This restaurant has a prime location and a strong online reputation. And perhaps our experience was impacted by the fact that we went at an off-hour. Still, there are much better options, with equal character, available across the city. Consider branching out -- and check my other Salzburg reviews for other alternatives.

We came in around 5pm for an early dinner before our train back to Munich and was able to grab a table for 4. We got incredibly lucky because the restaurant really filled up and by the time we left, there was a long line down the block. Of course we had to have their Original Wiener Schnitzel, which was so crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. We also had a Salzburger Nockerl, which is a classic Austrian soufflé dessert that is considered a culinary symbol of Salzburg. You do have to order this about 20 minutes in advance, so we ordered it when we made our entree orders. This was really good and honestly, more than enough for our group of 4. I also highly recommend their house beer, which was one of the best beers I had during our 10 day trip.

We were sat at the opposite end of the table from another couple in a little room. The servers were plenty friendly and spoke good English to assist us. My husband got a burger and I ordered the Mac and cheese and a salad and we shared. It was a lot of food! We also ordered the pancake shredded dessert which came with a jelly type of sauce. Everything was good but it was sooo heavy. I certainly recommend sharing so that you have enough room in your stomach. We would return next time we were in Salzburg.

He recommended the Bärenwirt. Returning to Salzburg with our 11 adult children and grandchildren, we wanted them to have a similar authentic experience so we made a reservation at our old haunt, which has been in operations since 1663. Things have changed over the last 16 years. On our first visit, the menu was only in German and our server spoke to us in German until we threw in the towel and admitted, "Ich spreche nicht sehr gut Deutsch. Englisch, bitte?" (I don't speak German well. English, please?) Now, 16 years later, English has become the default and today, the menu is presented in four languages. But the food is still just as authentic and delicious. Taking grandkids who range from 10 to 15 years of age, we were bracing for a few refrains of, "I don't LIKE that! It's weird!" or similar rants, but we heard none of it. All the kids (and parents, too, for that matter) dove gamely into the menu and found things that were to their liking. The menu is large and varied. Main dishes include roast pork, pasta, sausage with roasted potatoes, dumplings, goulash, schnitzel, fried chicken, boiled beef and (of course) bratwurst. The food was good, there was an excellent variety, and it was brought out quickly. Prices for main dishes were quite reasonable, with most under €20. Wiener Schnitzel was the most expensive, at €28,90 but it was an outlier. The only issue I had was the price of the soft drinks. Between our grandkids, they had 10 Cokes - at €5.90 EACH. That was €59 for sodas; more than we paid for all of our beers. My wife was determined that, for dessert, the kids and grands would all taste Kaiserschmarren mit Zwetschkenröster - cut-up pancake with raisins topped with powdered sugar and served with a jam for dipping. A truly Austrian experience that everyone enjoyed, though some more than others. On the night we visited, we encountered several other parties of Americans. I have no way of knowing whether the place has become that popular with visitors or management simply corralled us into the same room. Regardless, it was a very pleasant evening and one I'm sure we will repeat the next time we're in Salzburg.

The schnitzel was almost perfect, the chicken was well cooked, and we had a great salad as well. The bottle of local wine was also excellent. Our server was fast and efficient if a little thin on interaction. He was also very busy, so that's likely a part of it. The interior is nice, although we only saw a bit of it. We ordered a couple of appetizers to share. One that stood out was their trio dip and I particularly liked the pork belly crackling dip that was served with sourdough bread. It definitely is not the most healthy as it was greasy, but super flavorful with great texture from the cracklings. Another one I enjoyed was their Regensburger Wurstsalat. The sausages were thinly sliced paired with a crispy, tangy vinaigrette which was refreshing especially in a hot summer day. The scallions and red onions added another level of flavor and texture. For main, I ordered their braised pork belly and was pleasantly surprised. Th meat was tender, skin was still crispy and the sauce was hearty yet not too salty. My kids tried their schnitzel and they enjoyed it. However, my husband ordered one of their beef dish and I was told it was dry and salty. I honestly would recommended to just stick with pork when in Germany/Austria and stay away from beef because ever beef dishes we've tried were not good. Overall, this is your typical Biergarten with plenty of outdoor seating and tv's available to watch any sports. Our servers were all very friendly and relatively quick Austrian standard. The only thing is some tv's streamed ahead of others so the people who's watching the slower tv were a little upset as they would've heard the reaction of others before they can see the actions.
