Quaint little restaurant with an amazing view. The food was definitely pretty but lacked anything that would ever bring me back. Had to chase the server down a few times, and hats always a bummer because I feel like I'm being intrusive trying to get their attention. It always leaves me feeling awkward. Great view and one of kind dining experience to overlook the Salzburg city. I enjoyed the sausage and potatoes I had. Especially the potatoes were cooked to perfection.

Went to the top of the hill to visit the fortress and saw this restaurant with a great view of the city! Ordered a Baked Potato wrapped in a swan shape surrounded by Smoked Salmon over Salad, and a Apple Struder with Vanilla cream. I liked how their cream sauce made the Apple Struder more delicious. The staff and manager are really nice and made sure you have an excellent service before the bill. Also try their Salzburger Nockerl, it's made really fresh out of the oven!

It's the restaurant up the hill, in the fortress. We just had coffee here. The views are amazing! And the service was quite good for a crowded day. Es el restaurant que está arriba en el fuerte. Solo tomamos café. Las vistas son increíbles ! Y la atención fue bastante buena para un día lleno de gente en el restaurante.

Location, location, location! Panorama's outdoor dining terrace offers spectacular views of Salzburg from Festung Hohensalzburg, the hilltop fortress/castle at the heart of the city. If you're hungry or thirsty and touring the fortress, it's a really great option for you. Three stars for food, plus an extra star for the atmosphere and great service. We enjoyed a late lunch at Panorama and had great service. My pork wiener schnitzel was tender, seasoned and not greasy at all. Really good if you like schnitzel. If you get this, make sure you eat it with the cranberry sauce provided because ooooohhhh that flavor combo is good! This meal comes with a unexpectedly large and tasty side salad. No one at our table had any complaints about their meals, and almost every bite was eaten. Their meals included the turkey schnitzel, the goulash (dad loved it!), the fried chicken and the pasta bolognese. Since we hadn't yet tried Salzburg's famous Mozart cake, we shared this for dessert. It was pretty good, but not the most memorable dessert of our vacation or the best chocolate cake ever. Kind of wished we had the apple strudel instead. It looked divine on our neighbor's plate. When you're touring the fortress, I highly recommend you take a half hour to relax at this hilltop restaurant - sit next to the railing, have a local Augustiner beer or glass of wine, and enjoy the wonderful view of Salzburg. And maybe a pretzel or dessert too.

The place is located at the top of the hill, inside the castle and we sat at the restaurant's open-air patio overlooking Saltzburg. We always beat the lunch crowd as we go there early. They are open the same time as the hours of the museum. Our drinks were very generous and reasonably priced. Sadly, I was surprised to read a lot of bad reviews, however for us, we enjoyed it. The view is simply amazing and breath in the pure fresh air. Drinking a cocktail with a magnificent sight of the alps is worth a lot! The pretzel on the table was actually fresh and tasty despite people's complain. The prices are slightly higher than the rest of the town, but as we all know location matters. The service was on par. This restaurant in my opinion, is a must see spot and lives up to its name.

The restaurant itself is very ordinary , only because it has amazing overview of the city-Salzburg we went there. Our waiter was very nice, he took as many photos of us as we ask. Mozart cake was delicious; fruits/ice cream looked better than it tasted and I was waiting more than 30 minutes for it.

I loveddd the location. Panoramic view of the beautiful Salzburg city. Great tasting foods and very welcoming and nice hosts. For their location and their food the price was very reasonable. I definitely recommend this place to everyone.

When we asked for a…read moretable at the front, we were directed inside and had the indoor portion of the restaurant practically to ourselves! No reservation made in advance or required at that time of day. Inside was cool with rustic wooden decor and furnishings. Menu contained many of the classic Austrian dishes that we were looking to fill up our stomachs. Portions looked big but it was also nice to find some options that came in smaller plates so we could make sure that we left enough room for one of their desserts. We took a little longer to nail down our meal and we ended up getting some very basic dishes: The small plate of Austrian meatballs were quite tasty with a savory sauce and creamy mashed potatoes. The veal schnitzel was huge and took up more than 3/4 of the plate with a few boiled potatoes. Nice crunch on the outside and juicy veal on the inside but the potatoes were a bit plain. The crowning end to our meal was one of the city's famous desserts, the Salzburg Nockerl. We actually switched from the apple strudel at the last minute so we had to wait a little extra time before the nockerl was served. It's not an easy dessert to make though its main ingredients were eggs, sugar and a little flour. The 3 browned peaks were impressive when served. The raspberry sauce on the bottom provided a sweet add. It was very close to a soufflé with a very airy like texture that melted in the mouth. Well worth the 24.9 Euros charged and the most expensive dessert of our trip. We had great service from the staff and easily accommodate our change our minds on the dessert. We closed our tab at the table and would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting some good food options.

So we went elsewhere. We went back the next night at an off-hour and while the food was fine, I would have been highly disappointed had we waited in line for 30 minutes, let alone 2 or more hours. This restaurant has a prime location and a strong online reputation. And perhaps our experience was impacted by the fact that we went at an off-hour. Still, there are much better options, with equal character, available across the city. Consider branching out -- and check my other Salzburg reviews for other alternatives.

We were sat at the opposite end of the table from another couple in a little room. The servers were plenty friendly and spoke good English to assist us. My husband got a burger and I ordered the Mac and cheese and a salad and we shared. It was a lot of food! We also ordered the pancake shredded dessert which came with a jelly type of sauce. Everything was good but it was sooo heavy. I certainly recommend sharing so that you have enough room in your stomach. We would return next time we were in Salzburg.

During our first visit to Salzburg in 2009, we asked our hotelier to recommend a genuine Austrian…read morerestaurant - one that did not offer "Menus for tourists" and that prepared authentic dishes. He recommended the Bärenwirt. Returning to Salzburg with our 11 adult children and grandchildren, we wanted them to have a similar authentic experience so we made a reservation at our old haunt, which has been in operations since 1663. Things have changed over the last 16 years. On our first visit, the menu was only in German and our server spoke to us in German until we threw in the towel and admitted, "Ich spreche nicht sehr gut Deutsch. Englisch, bitte?" (I don't speak German well. English, please?) Now, 16 years later, English has become the default and today, the menu is presented in four languages. But the food is still just as authentic and delicious. Taking grandkids who range from 10 to 15 years of age, we were bracing for a few refrains of, "I don't LIKE that! It's weird!" or similar rants, but we heard none of it. All the kids (and parents, too, for that matter) dove gamely into the menu and found things that were to their liking. The menu is large and varied. Main dishes include roast pork, pasta, sausage with roasted potatoes, dumplings, goulash, schnitzel, fried chicken, boiled beef and (of course) bratwurst. The food was good, there was an excellent variety, and it was brought out quickly. Prices for main dishes were quite reasonable, with most under €20. Wiener Schnitzel was the most expensive, at €28,90 but it was an outlier. The only issue I had was the price of the soft drinks. Between our grandkids, they had 10 Cokes - at €5.90 EACH. That was €59 for sodas; more than we paid for all of our beers. My wife was determined that, for dessert, the kids and grands would all taste Kaiserschmarren mit Zwetschkenröster - cut-up pancake with raisins topped with powdered sugar and served with a jam for dipping. A truly Austrian experience that everyone enjoyed, though some more than others. On the night we visited, we encountered several other parties of Americans. I have no way of knowing whether the place has become that popular with visitors or management simply corralled us into the same room. Regardless, it was a very pleasant evening and one I'm sure we will repeat the next time we're in Salzburg.

We ordered a couple of appetizers to share. One that stood out was their trio dip and I particularly liked the pork belly crackling dip that was served with sourdough bread. It definitely is not the most healthy as it was greasy, but super flavorful with great texture from the cracklings. Another one I enjoyed was their Regensburger Wurstsalat. The sausages were thinly sliced paired with a crispy, tangy vinaigrette which was refreshing especially in a hot summer day. The scallions and red onions added another level of flavor and texture. For main, I ordered their braised pork belly and was pleasantly surprised. Th meat was tender, skin was still crispy and the sauce was hearty yet not too salty. My kids tried their schnitzel and they enjoyed it. However, my husband ordered one of their beef dish and I was told it was dry and salty. I honestly would recommended to just stick with pork when in Germany/Austria and stay away from beef because ever beef dishes we've tried were not good. Overall, this is your typical Biergarten with plenty of outdoor seating and tv's available to watch any sports. Our servers were all very friendly and relatively quick Austrian standard. The only thing is some tv's streamed ahead of others so the people who's watching the slower tv were a little upset as they would've heard the reaction of others before they can see the actions.
