Modern but still captured the old coastal feel. It was super musty and smelled like it. There was a dehumidifier but it was so small, in two nights we actually had to dump the water bucket 4 times. And if we left all day, we came back to a damp room. I'm not sure what causes that - we live in a super humid area and don't have the same issue, but maybe a larger humidifier would help. The breakfasts were fantastic - you can order anything off their restaurant menu. I didn't have anything bad, everything was super fresh and came in huge portions. I do wish they had an espresso machine but the coffee was okay. Check out was also a breeze. This isn't a luxury location, my main complaint was the price for it feels steep, but it's one of the only spots in the area which is probably why they can charge so much. Overall, a great stay and I would definitely come back here if I was in the area again.

The shrimp were cooked well but the dish itself was lacking flavor. I was surprised at the absence of the sauce. It barely covered the pasta. The waitress did offer to add more sauce to it, and actually brought out some more sauce with a little more sambuca in it. It did improve the dish,but not one of my favorites. So 5 stars on the salmon dish. 3 stars on the salad. 1 star on the French onion soup, and 3 stars on the shrimp sambuca sauce dish. I have had the French onion soup before and it was good, so this was just a bad night. We will still go there because they usually are very good, and everyone can have an off night. The waitress told the chef about the sambuca sauce and she said he agreed with me and tweek the sauce.

The door to the building doesn't lock or close very well. Don't expect any privacy. When the wind blows the door open, the wine drinkers at the little tables all look right in the door at the side of the bed. The building has no furniture, except a bed and a lecture stand with a slanted top. No night tables or a TV or a mini-fridge. Probably got stolen when the door quit closing all the way. Breakfast has changed from some of the reviews posted here. We were offered a couple of danishes and pastries, cut in half and some fruit and store-bought granola. Jim announced that the coffee was gone at 9:30 and he had no plans for making any more. "Whoever needs it the most can have the last little drop!" I don't know if they lost their food service license or just quit bothering to live up to the "Breakfast" part of their name. The rocking chairs on the lawn ARE lovely and have a peaceful view of the river. Until about 2:30 when the tourists show up with their fast food and spend the day drinking wine. So we went into Leonardtown which is about 45 minutes away and looks like it was deserted when PAX River AFB downsized. Don't bother with the Point Lookout lighthouse either - there's a big chain link fence around it. If you are looking for someplace to eat your roadside lunch while enjoying a free wine tasting, Woodlawn has it all. If you're looking for a romantic weekend for two - stay home.

Parking was a breeze, purchasing tickets was easy, and we were able to shop in every single room of the Inn, which also essentially doubled as a tour. The rooms were all lovely and the Inn was the perfect backdrop for shopping. I even tried a sample of their holiday tea (and subsequently bought some). One of the owners was dolling out the samples and it was nice to chat with him. You could tell he and his wife put a lot of love into their Inn. I wouldn't hesitate to return for other events and will keep this spot in mind for future visitors looking for a B&B experience as well.
