We stayed here for a work trip since there wasn't much else around - it was a great recommendation!…read more It was super easy to check in, our room was very clean and well taken care of. Modern but still captured the old coastal feel. It was super musty and smelled like it. There was a dehumidifier but it was so small, in two nights we actually had to dump the water bucket 4 times. And if we left all day, we came back to a damp room. I'm not sure what causes that - we live in a super humid area and don't have the same issue, but maybe a larger humidifier would help. The breakfasts were fantastic - you can order anything off their restaurant menu. I didn't have anything bad, everything was super fresh and came in huge portions. I do wish they had an espresso machine but the coffee was okay. Check out was also a breeze. This isn't a luxury location, my main complaint was the price for it feels steep, but it's one of the only spots in the area which is probably why they can charge so much. Overall, a great stay and I would definitely come back here if I was in the area again.

My wife's house salad was very tasty but had several pieces of wilted greens that she picked out. I started with the French onion soup, which was very salty. Almost too salty to eat. My wife had the salmon and I had the Shrimp in the sambuca sauce. The salmon was cooked good and very flavorful, the asparagus was cooked perfectly and good tasting. The shrimp were cooked well but the dish itself was lacking flavor. I was surprised at the absence of the sauce. It barely covered the pasta. The waitress did offer to add more sauce to it, and actually brought out some more sauce with a little more sambuca in it. It did improve the dish, but not one of my favorites. So 5 stars on the salmon dish. 3 stars on the salad. 1 star on the French onion soup, and 3 stars on the shrimp sambuca sauce dish. I have had the French onion soup before and it was good, so this was just a bad night. We will still go there because they usually are very good, and everyone can have an off night. The waitress told the chef about the sambuca sauce and she said he agreed with me and tweek the sauce.

Total relaxation with every detail taken care of. First the husband/wife innkeepers Shawn and Steve were amazing and cared so much that we had a wonderful stay. We had my elderly parents w us in their ground floor room called the "Islandscape"and we had one of the main house "Narada" room. The view and location were fantastic. The breakfasts were special 3 course including fresh fruit and something sweet and savory. The baked goods every day by Shawn showed her love and talent for baking--even a goodie bag at our departure. If I lived closer, I would come more often! There's a game room, binoculars, hot chocolate w mini marshmallows, beautiful sitting areas to enjoy the view throughout the property including the front porch where we hung out after dinner. The restaurant right across the street about a stone's throw away at Charles Street served tapas and seafood w live jazz in a Sat night. We also tried Bugeye Grill another night and they were fantastic too. Never really had to get back in the car as you can walk just a few blocks up to the main part of town w a few shops and restaurants. Right next door is an outdoor salty tiki bar that looks fun when it warms up more. I could go on and on. Oh, and Calvert Cliffs park is only 10 min away by car where you can find shark teeth and fossils, which we did! Soo much better than a hotel or airbnb!

What a find!! Being in the hospitality business over 35…read moreyears and to experience a Beauty with David as the owner, that truly knows how too entertain on highest level. We felt so welcomed. When we drove up that little Mansion we could not believe our Eyes. Directly on the water in a magical setting...something we will never forget and definitely will revisit! We were greeted and got a tour that justified its history. We did have perfect weather conditions, so when we came back from dinner, we enjoyed ourselves for a little walk around the gardens and lake. The view from our balcony was stunning...you really have to pinch yourself...just making sure you're not dreaming...it made us feel happy as can be. The next morning...David prepared a beautiful spread of breakfast. Crab &Swiss cheese omelette, roasted Yukon potato, turkey bacon, country sausage, the bread basket had lavish varieties and customed as well towards my girl who has celiac disease with gluten free options, Room tempered butter, I think even the raspberry marmalade was homemade, fresh berries...I mean nothing was missing and it was put together with such care. Since we were the first of the season...David was able to join us. What a great morning we had thanks to him...thank you so very much!! A must see venue, that is highly recommended!

Highly recommended to anybody looking to celebrate your special occasion!

OK. The place is OK. We stayed in the Magnolia cottage. "Magnolia is our romantic get away…read morecottage. Set off by itself" = false. Magnolia is a toolshed on the central patio. The door to the building doesn't lock or close very well. Don't expect any privacy. When the wind blows the door open, the wine drinkers at the little tables all look right in the door at the side of the bed. The building has no furniture, except a bed and a lecture stand with a slanted top. No night tables or a TV or a mini-fridge. Probably got stolen when the door quit closing all the way. Breakfast has changed from some of the reviews posted here. We were offered a couple of danishes and pastries, cut in half and some fruit and store-bought granola. Jim announced that the coffee was gone at 9:30 and he had no plans for making any more. "Whoever needs it the most can have the last little drop!" I don't know if they lost their food service license or just quit bothering to live up to the "Breakfast" part of their name. The rocking chairs on the lawn ARE lovely and have a peaceful view of the river. Until about 2:30 when the tourists show up with their fast food and spend the day drinking wine. So we went into Leonardtown which is about 45 minutes away and looks like it was deserted when PAX River AFB downsized. Don't bother with the Point Lookout lighthouse either - there's a big chain link fence around it. If you are looking for someplace to eat your roadside lunch while enjoying a free wine tasting, Woodlawn has it all. If you're looking for a romantic weekend for two - stay home.
