Went to grab some lunch on a weekday afternoon and I was the only customer aside from one other table. The interior was nicely decorated and had nice, calming music in the background. The service was great. The server was funny, talked to me about items on the menu, offered suggestions. The food was great. The cucumber salad was so good, one of the best I've had. The chicken lo mein was equally good, as was the kung pao chicken. Food pricing I feel was appropriate given portion sizes and flavor/presentation. I had green beans, and rare beef pho (only served Tuesday-Thursday). Staff was so friendly, and the restaurant was so clean, tons of beautiful bamboo plants. They even have some for sell. Chicken lo mein was super good, good quality chicken, very fresh even after a 30 minute drive home. Generous amount of vegetables in both the sczhewan chicken and lo mein. Less salty (which is a good thing lol). I was surprised that I ate all the noodles and just kept wanting more. It was really good. They also gave us a complimentary crab Rangoon. We have always loved MaT 888. Two days ago we ordered cashew chicken take out and it was way below the quality that we expected. We ordered the king selection and we were missing two salads. There was a time when I would have given this place five stars, but after my family's most recent experience, we'll never eat here again. Which is a shame because we've been eating here since it first opened, oftentimes coming on New Year's Eve. Recently, my family got takeout from here. Among other things, we ordered spring rolls, which were mostly for my sister since she's a vegetarian. We got home and turns out the spring rolls, which we've ordered countless times before, were egg rolls with meat in them. No big deal -- I'd call them and let them know, and they'd give us our money back for the wrong order. Not so. I ended up arguing with the woman over the phone, and she said I should have specified meatless spring rolls. But a.) as I said, we'd ordered these many time before and never had a problem, and b.) if there are both meat and meatless options for spring rolls (which again, never had this issue before), why not ask me to specify when I'm ordering? At no point was there an apology or an effort to make things right. Just arguing and blame. Was really blindsided by this because we've always enjoyed coming here for the excellent service and food. Never again though. China Bistro just lost some loyal customers. And in case you're wondering, the rest of the food was terrible as well. read more

I truly enjoyed the Emerald Jade Chicken and the Sweet and Sour Chicken while my husband indulged himself with Beef Lo Mein and Chicken Fried Rice on both visits.The food at the China Bistro strongly brings back memories of our one time favorite Chinese restaurant, The House of Chong. I've never eaten here before, so I thought I would try it because it's close to my work. It was not a good choice. After speaking with someone on the phone about how to make my food specifically, I received my food made in a different way. The meal was supposed to be without sauce, but there was sauce on everything. The tofu was supposed to be crispy, (it was not) instead, it was on the bottom of my vegetables covered in sauce and soggy. Also, if I ask for food with no sauce, I'm certainly not going to want some mushroom concoction drowned in the sauce that then gets all over my other food. Also, you should always give white steamed rice with any vegan or vegetarian dish. It's like you've never made food for people before. I like my chinese restaurants covered in a thin layer of grease and you have to sterilize your dishes in hot tea before using them, so this rather elegant place had me wary...and even more so when everyone in our large party was each asked to order our 'dish' (apparently 'family style' doesn't fly in the midwest, tho marrying yr cousin does...). Anyhow, the food was pretty good in that faux pf chang way. The orange shrimp was like cotton candy. I can't say that the cream cheese filled wonton was very authentic, but the garlic pork and the kung pao beef were closer. The meal was great and the lunch prices were great as well! I would also recommend their house salad, while I'm unsure of what the dressing is topped with, but I know it's AMAZING! It's a sweet dressing. The salad is also topped with fried noodles. The salad is only $5 at lunch time and the size of the salad is great! They have some of the best hot and sour soup in this area, HANDS DOWN! It has lots of black pepper that gives it a great kick! I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone! read more

Without a doubt the best authentic Chinese restaurant in the TriState. The food is always cooked to perfection, and is obviously NOT mass produced. If you want a buffet this is not the place for you. Generous portions, excellent service, and wonderful food. Bonus: my husband is celiac/gluten intolerant and we have eaten here more than 20 times and he has never gotten sick.
