We have mostly enjoyed living here over the past year despite issues with roaches everywhere (of which you are required to pay a monthly fee of $18 to remove, but they don't treat any areas or do anything about the roaches), water dripping into our apartment, general maintenance issues, terrible communication, mailbox problems, appliances breaking, high utilities because of drafty doors that they refuse to properly weatherproof, numerous bathroom problems, complete disregard to noise complaints (read some of the other reviews too), and a general lack of customer service, etc. The main issue is this: they just sent our lease renewal letter and have raised our rent 19% - this is insane. So we have a month and a half to figure out a new place to live or to figure out if we can afford an extra 19% on top of our already high rent. It should be illegal honestly. This is Bellevue not Silicon Valley, which also saw a 19% median rent increase over the past year. I have friends in newly built condos in Nashville whose rent and yearly increases are more reasonable than MAA Bellevue, which was built in the 1990s and is currently being held together by plaster and paint. We like the location, but this is a bait and switch tactic being leveraged by their corporate arm to squeeze every bit of money possible out of tenants. So keep this in mind when considering renting at MAA. The intro price might seem reasonable, but they will absolutely get you when you're finally settled in and it's time to renew your lease for 19% more or move out quickly. read more

This is the same review I left on google... and I completely stand by my statement. Okay facility to live in but management is terrible. Never was told that upon move out, carpet would be pulled up for inspection when having pets. Even after putting a pet deposit down and a security deposit, we were still charged the ENTIRE payment of brand new carpet instead of the deprecation value. Our corner gutter leading to the stairs was broken for the entire year of living in our apartment. It wouldn't have been a problem, but EVERY TIME it rained walking under the gutter was like taking a shower and there was no way walking around it without getting soaked. The first time this happened in the winter, the water froze over therefore making the walkway and stairs super slippery - management was made aware and still nothing was done. Trash compactor on phase I is always full, and people just dump their trash and raccoons love to dig through it. One positive: they are dog friendly, so there are lots of large "agressive" breed dogs. We have pitbulls, so it was nice seeing other pitties around the community. To add to this and the other people that reviewed the complex, they only contact you when they want money. read more

This apartment community could be great. The apartments are nice ,clean and mostly well kept. The office staff is definitely a problem. No communication until a month after I moved out. During my stay there was fire alarm testing at 7 am without notification from office staff. My air conditioner wasn't working properly in 90-100 degree . The ac unit was over 20 year old and would not cool my apartment. The maintenance man instructed me to get over it because there was a heat wave when I complained. My apartment was over 80 degrees at night. When I was leaving I sent an email in advance but no one responded. I moved out completing paperwork in person without questions. I am asked to pay a full months rent and late charges. Do not rent here. The only communication I have received was when they wanted money. read more

I absolutely love living here. I have been here for almost two years and I feel so grateful to live in such a lovely neighborhood. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. The neighborhood is peaceful, and my apartment is everything I wanted. I had the pleasure of working with Barbara when signing my lease. She listened to what I wanted and picked me out the PERFECT apartment. Since then she has treated me like family. She is always there to help with a smile on her face. Horrible complex. We were so excited to move in as we had many friends here who liked living here. We moved in around the time a new manager took over- Jessica. She has been absolutely horrible. She has lied to us on two (known) occasions and does not care about keeping residents happy/ fixing issues. Our AC goes out at least 2times a month and our electric bill is $250+ a month. We have put in many requests to replace our 30year old AC unit with no luck. There are a lot of bugs. We most recently found a cockroach here- GROSS. We called on Friday and the soonest they could get somebody to come and spray was Thursday. I am highly allergic and have been staying at a friends (I can't live on Benadryl as I am pregnant). This, among other things, caused us to put our notice in and break our lease. Save yourself some money and skip this complex.f read more

Great community to live in. The staff is very competent and friendly. The grounds are well kept which helps to provide a relaxing atmosphere with large areas for walking. It is located near businesses from groceries, pharmacies, automotive care to schools, churches, and public parks. The three pools, the dog park, workout center, as well as the main office help to make a great living environment. read more

Do NOT MOVE HERE!!! The office employees condescending , rude and beyond useless. I had 5 floods in my apartment in 4 months due to washing machine above me. Maintenance could not find problem so replaced the washing machine only to have another massive flood b/c they never thought to check if drain was clogged. Maintenance Manager totally incompetent , rude and lazy. When told I heard water in the walls he said I was crazy. Still haven't received a dime in compensation for everything I had to replace 5 times. They fighting with me over replacing smelly, mildewed moldy carpet, thats been under water 5 times!! If you like to live in falling apart apartments, neglected property with a toxic and rude office staff this is the 1 for you. I wouldn't even want my mother in law to live here. read more

I jumped for joy when I looked for an apartment here, I jumped higher after I was told there was only 1 left in the size we wanted, I hit my head on the ceiling when we were approved, I shot through the roof when we were moved in, and I touch the sky everyday now!! If I didn't get my point across, let me say it more simply: I LOVE MY APARTMENT! We are in a 2 bed/1 bath with sunroom (no balcony) and fireplace. Every apartment comes with a washer and dryer!! I am not exaggerating when I say that everyday I am sooo happy that I found this apartment. It's 1,070 sq ft, super bright and sunny, lots of space & closets. The model we saw first was a 2 bed/2 bath and that kitchen is a bit smaller, which would have been a bit of a bummer, but the rest of the place was still awesome. I would have loved a balcony, but it does not take away from my loving attraction to the rest of the place. Before moving in, I read reviews on other sites that spoke about bugs and trash pile ups. We moved in September, so warmer weather was dwindling down, but yes, there were some bugs (although this apartment had also been vacant), as there were when I came back from being gone for a month after moving in. Not really a big deal. This apartment complex is situated right on the edge of a heavily wooded area, so how would there not be bugs? Just an occasional centipede, beetle, fuzzy yellow/black thing....not that I enjoy bugs, but it's not something that the exterminator can't take care of (and she comes every Tuesday if you put your name/apartment down with the front office!). Everyone takes their trash to a main compactor at the front gate and there are times right before it's picked up that the trash can get very heavy and piled up, but it doesn't seem to stay that way for long. The hot water in the shower seems to run out quicker than I've experienced in other places, but on the other hand, that means less water waste since I need to scurry out before it gets cold! The downside to these apartments is that you do pay for EVERYTHING!!! I've never had to pay for normal utilities (gas, heat, etc.) and also water. You do here in addition to a hefty sewer fee. These utilities are not individually metered; they are taken as one whole amount against the entire complex and divided based upon your apartment size. Water is usually around $7/month, but sewer can be $40-$60/month. I didn't realize that before signing the lease and now when I get my bills, I get a little teary eyed. You are also required to get renter's insurance, which isn't a bad thing to have, but it is mandatory. When opening your new NES service, the office should waive the $55 fee, which will be on your first bill. The complex as a whole is quiet, except for the folks that insist upon having those loudest-decibel cars that they like to race around town (am I a grandma???). Inside the apartment, I rarely hear noise from people above or below me. I can hear the lonely dog downstairs crying, and upstairs if somebody falls or something, but otherwise....serenity! This complex has a secure/keyed entrance, 2 pools, bike racks, tennis courts, grills, a (small) fitness center, and allows most dogs. All of the ladies I've dealt with in the office have been very nice and helpful. You can pay rent online and also send in maintenance requests via the online system. I've requested maintenance twice and it's always been done well and by the next day. It's on Old Hickory between Hwy 70 and Hwy 100. Some of the buildings look over Old Hickory and there is some traffic noise, but we are further off the road and I only hear emergency vehicle sirens when they go by...it's otherwise very quiet. All in all, I would give it 4.5 to 5 stars...I'm SOOO happy here and literally every single person I've had over seems to drool in similarly loving excitement. If you don't mind being out in the hills...consider!! read more

DO NOT RENT HERE. I am less than astonished that the other Yelp reviews echo exactly what I came here to say. I am not the first or last to report the following issues - a 2 second search will prove that. They are trying to strong-arm me into paying for the FULL replacement cost of a one bedroom apartment carpet although we left it in the exact condition we arrived to it in and paid for a mandatory cleaning fee upon move out. I was also told by employees that they replace the carpet prior to every new tenant moving in, so it's clear they're trying to make their tenants cover the costs of this practice. I have been fighting this charge (over $1k) for about a year now, and despite trying to resolve it amicably they refuse to budge at all on what's an obvious scam. They are using pictures of mold in the carpet (see next complaint below) and pictures from UNDERNEATH the carpet showing what seems to be a 6 inch water stain as proof that we damaged it. Again, they are attempting to charge for replacement of the ENTIRE carpet, not even a partial or depreciation cost. They have sent this to collections and ignored my mediation offers. The roaches here are enormous and disgusting. You'll find 2-3 per day INSIDE your apartment (we are clean freaks and our apartment was spotless). We paid a monthly pest extermination fee - it clearly was not used properly. Along the same lines, there was black mold around our windowsill in the kitchen (which also permeated the carpet, which they're trying to charge us for) and in the bedroom. Lots and lots of communication issues with their office staff that led to surprise charges - many of which the staff admitted "catch tenants off guard." We had 5 friends follow behind us to this area of Nashville and we refused to refer them to this apartment complex. read more

I had a 15 month lease at Colonial Grand in a one bedroom apartment in the older buildings. I knew within about two months that I wanted to get out. I came to Nashville as a student and got out of my first lease somewhere else because it had cockroaches. Colonial Grand varies the bugs depending on the season: ladybug infestation during the fall, gigantic centipedes during the winter, spring, and summer, and spiders all year round. You pay a monthly bug spray fee, but they'll only come out if you ask them -- so you have to call them once a week and remind them if you want them to keep spraying. But don't bother. It doesn't make a difference. Related: the place isn't well insulated at all. It's recommended that you leave your thermostat around 69 degrees in the winter. It was impossible to get it below 73 without literally shivering while I tried to sit in my living room. That translates into about a $120/month electric bill. You'll also pay a monthly trash pickup fee. I was told that they came by on Mondays to get trash. When that didn't happen, I left my bag of trash out for a week to see what day they came by to collect. They never came. So that's just a bonus fee that you have for no reason. There were a few cosmetic issues with the apartment when we viewed it, and we were told that they would fix them right away. For instance, a tile by the door was cracked in half. Neither the front door nor the door to the deck actually fit properly in the frames. Etc. The tile never was fixed. We had to call to get the maintenance guy to come and make the hole for the bolt lock larger so that we didn't have to lift the door every time we wanted to close it. He said he couldn't do anything about the back door. Speaking of maintenance, our guy was extremely rude. Whoever originally did the plumbing work in the kitchen did not build it up to code as whatever goes into the garbage disposal backwashes into the dish washer, even if you've cleaned it recently. I learned this when I started noticing tea leaves from my loose leaf tea on the bottom end of my mugs after they had been "cleaned" in the dishwasher. Asked maintenance to look at it and I explained to him how I knew it was directly from the garbage disposal, and he responded by telling me I didn't know how to properly load a dish washer. Also, the washing machine will deposit random white minerals on your clothes that you can't get off without using your fingernails. And the dryer basically doesn't work. I asked the maintenance guy about both of them. He flushed the wall lint vent for the dryer and it looked like it was snowing outside. The vent is built at an angle so everything gets trapped, making it an extreme fire hazard. But of course, he explained to me how a dryer works before he even looked at anything else. While I was there, you were required to have a "special" AT&T cable/internet/phone bundle, so add $120 to your rent when you're budgeting, because you're in violation of your lease if you do anything else. All I need is internet, but I paid for cable and a landline for 15 months. A few other people mentioned noise. I didn't really experience noise from my upstairs neighbors, but that doesn't prevent the complex from being noisy. The bathroom to your upstairs neighbors (at least in my apartment) was immediately above my bedroom -- which would be fine, except the toilet and shower pipes were behind my bedroom wall. If the neighbors took a shower at 7am, I knew it. Worse, if they flushed the toilet at 3am, I was awoken by a waterfall 6 inches from my head. Also, the older section is right next to an intersection that's very busy early in the morning. You can hear every rude kid who blasts his music starting around 5am from your bedroom even if all of the windows are closed. I never renewed my lease, but rent would have gone up over $100 if I had. And what other people said is true -- if you break your lease, you have to give 60 days notice, and you pay two months as a fee, plus the two months you're required to stay (so you pay 4 months of rent in 2 months). This wasn't a problem for me because I knew there was no way I was staying there. I paid entirely too much per month to be constantly surrounded by centipedes and ladybugs and woken up with my neighbors every morning. I wanted to love it. It was my first apartment in Nashville. But I can't recommend this place to anyone. read more

I lived in these apartments for almost 2 years and absolutely loved it. The grounds are beautiful, the buildings are well kept with a garbage disposal on sight and multiple pools as well. Maintenance was always quick, but I never really had a reason to go to the office. However, after I left I had some issues with my old roommate and the front office was still willing to help me out even though they were not obligated to in the slightest. If you want to know the character of a place look at how they treat someone after they leave, not when they're trying to get you to sign a lease. I absolutely love this staff and if I get a chance to move back to Bellevue I would move back to these apartments in a heart beat! read more

DON'T LIVE HERE. Front office staff is rude. My roommate and I moved out over 2 months ago and we are STILL getting charged for fees. They charged us a $1000 fee for damaged carpet when we didn't even move in the apartment with new carpet so it was already damaged.. and the last month of our lease they charged us double our rent!!! I do not recommend living here and would NEVER sign another lease here or any of its other sister apartment buildings. It doesn't even deserve a 1 star!!! read more

Not about quiet living..continuous neighbor problems. First experience was domestic fighting where police were called on at least 3 different occasions in the apartment to the left of me. (I did not call police, they did.) Immediately after they moved out, new neighbors moved in upstairs that throw parties until 7am with music so loud my wall vibrates. Hot mess... that I can not get out of until lease is up. Office does not care about your experience and only out to make every dollar off of you that they can. Do not get into this situation. Loudest apartment ever. This place is clean, safe, and pretty nice and the amenities are great too. However, there is a train that passes directly next to Colonial Grand (you could literally walk past a tree and touch it) and it runs ALL through the day and night. We hear it constantly. These floors, ceilings, and walls are the thinnest I've ever experienced, and I've lived apartment life for 10 years now. It's ridiculous: we can hear our neighbors flushing the toilet, running their water, etc, at all hours. CONSTANT stomping above us, and it's not just during the day, it's at 12:30 am, 3 am, 5 am....it's exhausting. And we have a little baby too, so it's been a nightmare to try and get her to sleep as well as ourselves. We wish we hadn't come here :/ Another thing that's not a big deal, but slightly annoying, is the kitchen sink doesn't have a sprayer for doing dishes. Minor, but with how much we cook and such, it's inconvenient. read more

If I could rate this place a negative 1000 I would! First of all, on moving day, I traveled several hundred miles to make it there on time but because of traffic, I was running 8 MINUTES BEHIND. I want to highlight that, because I called and told them about an hour before closing letting them know my gps said I wouldn't get there till about 4-8 minutes after 5pm....THEY SAID THEY WOULDNT STAY FOR ME TO GET MY KEYS!!! I knew right then and there I should just lose my deposit and get the heck away from these people. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE (if you even call it that). We did end up making it there about 7 minutes before closing time and got the keys..then bam I walk into a MESS !!! The blinds were bent, cracked and broken. The carpets were LOADED WITH NAILS AND SCREWS! LIGHTBULBS were out and the WASHER HAD MOLD ! The bathrooms had the molding around the tub falling off and the floor bubbling. IT WAS A HUGE LET DOWN TO WALK INTO THAT PLACE. Moving into a gated community and paying a premium to only be let down , disgusted and at risk of tetanus and feeling unsafe is terrible especially when they want to charge an arm, leg and your first child to get out of their lease. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO LIVE HERE ! BEWARE! This was all just the beginning...the BUGS ! Oh the bugs that make it into the apartment...I never leave the doors open and I sealed my windows because of the EXTREMELY HIGH ELECTRIC BILLS ! I KEPT HAVING ISSUES WITH INSECTS. I never once saw someone come and spray till I asked them too and am paying a monthly fee ! No service but paying the fee..seems legit. Not only did i request spray service several times all just to be ignored until I threatened to take pictures and upload on every review site if not dealt with. Insects can be poisonous and I'm living with them..more so than my parents who live in a heavily wooded area and on multiple acres of land...I have a worse bug issue than them and I'm paying for this "pest service". Now let's get to the dog poop...no one really seems to pick up after their dogs in areas where there's no poop station...I can't blame the apartment for residents not cleaning up but I can definitely blame them for NOT HAVING ENOUGH POOP STATIONS. There's a huge grassy area that goes from gate to gate behind the phase 1 pool...and there's plenty of dogs that come through but there isn't a single poop station there to clean up after your pet. THERE ISNT EVEN A TRASH CAN TO DISPOSE OF WASTE ! So I had to be the resident to go buy my own shovel and clean up the mess so my dogs didn't step in anything. This shovel was then taken but then put back after I sent an email to the office. This shovel was hidden in my bushes by my balcony(so why take it?) After the shovel was taken and finally returned I then placed a small trash can (bathroom size) outside of my door to dispose of the poop. I wasn't taking pounds of poop into my apartment and I wasn't going to be the resident to throw dog poop into the trash cans at the pool (only trash disposal near by). I'm not here to poop on anyone's party or let poop ruin the area around the common areas. WELL GUESS WHAT ?!?! That trash can was then taken by the front office! read more

We have been here for about 4 months now. Most everything on our move in list was addressed. Staff seem nice to me. No problems at all. I have a small dog that I walk all the time through the complex. Lots of other puppies for to play with. Small area that is kind of a bark park available as well as a small playground. Biggest pain are the gates that work and then don't. They need to call someone who can fix them! Love the area! Edwin Warner is just around the corner too. Lots of places to hike. Parking can be a problem at times. Doesn't seem to be enough parking places. Really that's it. read more

Am a 5 yr. resident of CG at Bellevue. I have been treated with courtesy and respect by the office and maintenance staff. I appreciate that they continue to put money into the property to keep it up and/or improve on safety (gate access) and property appearance year over year. All my maintenance requests have been completed within one to two days. I recently transferred to a new unit with a balcony. The office and MAA made that transfer quick and easy for me. It is apartment living so some are more considerate neighbors than others but no major complaints. Some folks still struggle with trash compactor use (especially weekends) but that situation continues to be addressed by maintenance and has certainly gotten better over the years. Lots of puppers here. Most are courteous dog owners. I looked around Bellevue for another apartment a couple years ago and found that for me, I picked the right place the first time with CG. read more

I've lived here for almost three years, but have now just bought a house so will be moving out. For the most part, I have had no complaints, and it's been a great stop gap for me. Maintenance staff is great, and very responsive. The grounds are kept up very nicely. It's reasonably quiet, and neighbors all seem very nice and respectful. Have loved having a pool, though contrary to claims, it is not open year round. And it's nicely situated near the Warner Parks, which is a real plus from my perspective. The office personnel is hit and miss. There's one person in particular that I prefer to deal with over all others. The admins seem ditzy to me with sing-song voices and fake concern, and don't know me at all, even to the point of looking at me like they've never laid eyes on me before. Whereas the one staff member has managed to remember my name from the very start. Complaint No. 1 is that when my lease came up for renewal after one year, my rent was increased by $140 per month! Wow!! That was shocking. Complaint No. 2 is that we are all required to subscribe to U-Verse 3 from AT&T, which runs about $110 per month. If I were a TV watcher, this would probably be fine, but it doesn't include wifi, so that's an add on. We were forced into this deal with a carrot--the first two months were free. Now maybe they said something then that I missed, but now that I'm moving out, I have to pay that two months back. That ain't free. Finally, and this isn't really a complaint, just a sigh, I always knew this day might come where I'd have to exercise the buy-out clause, which is probably standard, but pretty steep. This is all in the contract, but until you have to do it, it doesn't really compute. I had to give 60 days notice, and pay for every day of that 60 based on my rental agreement, PLUS had to pay two full additional months, PLUS had to pay back the two months of AT&T service. The final tally is a bit overwhelming. But all in all, I'd say the experience has been positive. read more

if i could make it 0 stars, i would. the outside of the buildings, landscape, pool area are all amazing. layouts inside are great. but i do not understand what kind of popsicle stick materials these walls and floors were made of. every single step our upstairs neighbors make, we hear. with a 2 year old who takes a mid-day nap and is down at 8ish for the night, this is a huge problem! whoever put the buildings together had to have cut so many noise proofing and insulation corners to get the job done. because this apartment is too loud. if it wouldn't cost us an arm and a leg to break our lease, we would have left months ago. DO NOT MOVE HERE, unless you're on the top floor. but then, be prepared for the complaints. for such a beautiful well kept place, colonial grand is the absolute worst. our lease can not end soon enough!! read more

I lived in Phase One for a year then moved to Phase Two when it opened. Phase Two is beautiful, I love the layout, the finishings, etc. HOWEVER, Phase Two is extremely poor construction. I can hear my neighbors talk and walk. The noise is unbelievably annoying and frustrating especially considering how much I pay in rent every month. I will be moving out as soon as I can. I will say that maintenance is wonderfu!! I do not recommend these apartments. read more

I've lived here 4 months now and I'm still loving it. I don't have any issues with noises from neighbors (maybe mine are just very considerate), or outdoor noises. The location is great if you're a fan of the Warner Parks, and there's a great Kroger nearby. You can hear a train, which I personally enjoy, but it doesn't wake me up at night or anything. If you visit don't follow them into the gate. I visited and was asked to follow the leasing agent's van (in my car) through the gate to view an apartment. I wasn't given any code or instructions. The gate was closed, the leasing agent proceeded and entered a code to open the gate. I followed her through and arm that raises after the gate is opened lowered onto my car and left a dent on the door jam of my vehicle and white paint on the roof rack. I asked them to pay for it. They submitted it to their insurance, however they told the insurance company that they gave me a code to enter the gate. (If they gave me a code, why would I not use the code?) The insurance said they would not cover the cost and the Manager and MAAC say that it is out of their hands and nothing they can do to help me. Poor customer service on their part and not someone I would want to deal with for apartment needs. It happened on their property and with them not following proper procedure by using a golf cart or another mode to transport me through the gate to prevent this from happening. They should be responsible for covering the cost of the damages to my vehicle. read more

I've lived here less than 1 month. My only toilet is continuously stopped up. The maintenance department responds, but they tell me it's a problem with the plumbing design and there's nothing they can do except keep clearing it. If they had told me this before I moved in (and I'm sure they knew), I would not have movd in. Also the security gate is very difficult. You can't just scan your card. You have to place itvery carefully and exactly to have it open the gate (gets old real quick). Other places have and up-to-date systems that are user friendly. read more

Run, these apartments have large water bugs. When we moved in the tub had been painted and began to flake and rust after one week, there are bugs and the apartments were not updated. Over all we were ripped off, we had to pay four months because we did not want our 5 month old baby living under these conditions. We explained we had a five month old child and we could not live in these condition, the safe did not care and would not work with us at all. They got rude with us from the beginning and who's name starts with an A, mocked use, just to be hateful. The apartment should have been fumigated before we moved in and repairs should have already been made. There are large water bugs, and the staff lied and claims to have sprayed. We explained our child has allergies and they still would be would we us. The staff are rude and somewhat trashy and I would say uneducated. I would not wish what we went through to anyone else especially when you just had your first child. Colonial Grand just wants money and could care less about the living condition of you or your babies, run. Keep looking this is not the place. read more
