Okay Maast, I have a complaint to get out of the way before I get to the review. Where have you been all my life? Took me all of my idk, 30 years on the planet to finally find you? I need to file some paperwork or something... It's been no less than a year that my friends have been recommending to me "Indian nachos" which I thought at first was a joke but ended up being not only being real, but simply amazing. Headed over to Maast after a visit to Bass Pro Shops across the street and was pleasantly surprised. Loved the simple and cozy shop and the people inside. The lady at the counter was super friendly and recommended the nachos and samosas. No argument from us, we ordered them right up. By the way, it was noted that the chips were more flavorful on the homemade ones and not the tortilla chip version. Good amount of crunch, with the sauces on top filling up your mouth with all kinds of blended flavors of buttery goodness. Samosas were balances very well with the outer crispiness with the potato filling. Dipping them in the red sauce with what I think was tamarind was yet another experience of flavor. This is what I think Maast is about for me, everything there is just so rich and tasty and everything goes together. We also ended up getting the parathdilla which I had no idea what it was. Kinda a cross between a quesadilla and gordita? Not sure how to describe it, I am sure I am not doing it justice. It was another delicious dish. Overall I will absolutely, ABSOLUTELY be back. I had been wanting to check out this place for a while. Mexican/Indian fusion just sounded like the most random yet amazing coupling ever. The restaurant is located in a small business area strip with a 7-Eleven. I found parking with no problem. I arrived around 2pm so place was pretty empty except for two other customers. It is not very big inside but there was plenty of seating at that time, also it looked very clean and we'll organized with simple yet pretty decor. We were greeted by a gentleman possibly the owner? who handed us a menu and told us to order at the counter when ready. The menu had alot of tasty options and I settled on a Munchwrap with chicken and a tandoori sauce , it's basically their version of a Taco Bell Crunchwrap. It was just as good as I hoped it would be crispy flour tortilla with a crunchy inside filled with delicious flavorful chicken , lettuce and sauce of your choice. We also ordered a side of their tots and samosas and they did not disappoint, so flavorful hot and crispy. To drink we had the Mango Lassi and Chai drink both were good but the Mango Lassi was delicious. So if your having trouble deciding between Indian and Mexican why not do both!! ;) read more

Decided to try Maast Indian for a pre-long weekend meal and so glad I did!! As you walk in, the restaurant is spacious and bright with beautiful wall decor and ceiling lamps. The tables are 4 seaters and large which I love! The restaurant is family run by Mom and Pop with the son as head chef. They were beyond hospitable, friendly and kind to us and the kids. It felt like we were at a friend's house! The menu has vegetarian and vegan options that are clearly labeled. The food is a wonderful fusion mix of Indian food with a modern twist. They had street food and Mexican style dishes. We ordered quite a few dishes. Their portion sizes are generous!! And dishes are served on cute steel dishes. The braised lamb vindaloo was exceptional. It was tender and delicious. The butter chicken wings were unique and well made. The Mexican queso tots were a huge portion and absolutely delicious!! Pani puri and sev puri were good. I love that the sev puri was on flat puris. I felt the sauces were lacking in tangy spicy flavor. The Gulab jamun cake and Rose Falooda dessert cup were interesting and unique too! I got take-out from Maast Indian for a girl's night and the food was amazing. Comfort food in a nutshell. It's indulgent for sure, but worth it. This place is perfect for a low-key night out or to grab food from for a cozy night in. You absolutely have to get the mac & cheese and one of the grilled sandwiches. The mac & cheese was creamy and well-spiced, while the sandwich was grilled to buttery perfection and stuffed. I'm a huge fan of Indo-Western fusion food and was happy with the balance of flavors. Bumping to five stars. Maast really came through for a large catering event we were hosting at the office for about 50 people. Their ordering process, transparent pricing and packaging and pick up on the day was immaculate. Throughout the process, they were so easy to reach and provided me lots of recommendations on how to make the menu work for 50 people and the budget. The food was a hit at our event. We ordered samosas, loaded tater tots, and tandoori paneer and chicken sandwiches, and mango lassi. Everything was really good and people were clamoring to take leftovers home. So happy I found this spot! I tried Samosa Chaat for the first time on a trip and have been eagerly looking forward to my second time eating it. The restaurant is in a great location. Ordering online was easy, our food was prepared on time and most importantly, tastes amazing. The paratha was perfect, boyfriend loved the tikka masala and my samosa chaat came with garbanzo noodles. Different take compared to our usual Indian places - more of a fast casual vibe with fusion-type food. Feel like fusion can be a bit of a gamble - either beautifully elevating the 2 cuisines or not doing justice to either. In this case, the food was outstanding! Loved that I was able to do meat and veg for my curry - feel like that's something I always want with my Indian curries but often feel like it's either meat or veggies. We had the coconut korma with chicken and veggies medium spice - spice level was perfect, curry was rich and flavorful - chicken and veggies were tender. I am so happy that Maast moved from being in a ghost kitchen to having their own brick and mortar - it is truly innovative and amazing. I've never tried anything like it! I've always been a fan of fusion and a butter chicken burrito is *chefs kiss*. I love that it's packed neat and easy to eat. The butter chicken fills my mouth with so much flavor. I absolutely love this place! It's the perfect combination of authentic Indian flavors + American comfort foods fusion. I've been a huge fan since their ghost kitchen days when they operated out of a small business plaza unit without a storefront. So happy for them that they've expanded to their own cute little restaurant near spectrum! Their burritos are so yummy with lots of fillings (meat, sauce, rice and veggies)! Now they have a bunch of items you can customize and prices are super affordable for a small business. My favorite has to be the butter chicken burrito because I'm basic but there's nothing basic about this establishment. They make foods that are non-traditional Indian cuisine like burritos, munchwraps (their take on the Crunchwrap), parathadillas (quesadillas but with paratha), mac n cheese, fries, tater tots, and sandwiches and make it with Indian flavors. They also have more traditional items including Indian curries with rice, samosas, and mango lassi. Highly recommend stopping by especially if you're new to Indian food since these items shouldn't be too foreign to you and will kick start your love for Indian flavors. Their fries and tater tots are fried to perfection and seasoned with their masala mix. Delicious and affordable side to add to any dish, I think it's a $1.50 add on! The employees are also super nice so I love supporting them! Since I've first come to this location, they also added really nice calming acoustic music and classy dim lighting at night so you don't have to be blinded by white overhead lighting. Maast is pretty awesome. My wife used to write an Indian food blog so the bar is high for us and it meets it. I live in LA, and anytime I take my kids down to Orange County, I grab some food from there. Super family friendly. The owner Nathan and his wife are super kind and thoughtful. Keep the place clean. The experimental fusion food they pull off. The nachos and Mac and cheese are amazing. With that - the baseline Indian food like the butter chicken and pulao are on point. This was a place that I admittedly wanted to like more than I did. Indian burritos have been a longtime fusion favorite of mine since first having Urban Turbann in my Berkeley days, with the flavorful Indian spices in the convenient form factor of a burrito making for a balanced and delicious meal. I decided to order the 65 Chicken this time, extra hot, and honestly I couldn't tell it was a degree hotter than the most mild Tabasco. Overall I wasn't particularly impressed with the flavor, which was uninteresting at best and bland at worst. Maybe if I had gotten butter chicken and the extra hot I would have gotten a bit more nuanced than a supposed hot that wasn't nearly hot enough. I saw plenty of reviews for the fries, and they're absolutely a great deal as an add-on to your meal. Definitely the loaded for the extra flavors. I'll definitely give this place a second chance since I'll always wish for the best when it comes to local businesses, but so far I'd have to say I prefer Curry Up Now on the other side of the street. TIP: Sides for $1-$2.50 if loaded are an absolute steal. read more

My fiancé and I were out here for a tournament and came across this place on Yelp. The owner and I believe his wife were the sweetest, most hospitable people I've ever met. Tried the tandoori chicken burrito with masala fries which was ready in just a few minutes. The burrito itself is very flavorful and has an excellent crisp outer shell. The chicken is well seasoned, slightly dry but not noticeable unless eating it in isolation. Together the burrito makes for an excellent lunch and is a good portion size, easily splittable with two people. Of note: the restaurant is within "smart kitchens" in an industrial area. The entrance is not easily identified, so reference the photo to see what the outside looks like. Inside you order on a kiosk, and you can order from multiple restaurants within "smart kitchens", about 8 of them are possible. read more

This is a great little Indian restaurant near work in the Irvine Spectrum. Their chicken curry bowl is SO good! They give you a generous portion of chicken curry sauce in a separate container - enough for 2 bowls. I'm so glad we have a great restaurant right across the street from my job! read more

Offering Tandori Chicken in a burrito with French Fries was certainly different. The spice was perfect, I ordered medium and could go hotter. Overall, it's good indian food. For OC, it's on the better end for taste and, IMO better than the buffets (buffets are better bang for your buck). They have some interesting burrito fusion concepts, but I like to stick to the curries. The chicken in the curry is inconsistent; at times, it is dry and tough, but at others, it is juicy and tender. The curry flavor is good. It comes with rice, which is usually dry and undercooked, and a store-bought frozen paratha from the grocery store. It's ok. Their somosas also taste frozen and grocery-bought. If you are craving indian food, overall, it's a good spot. read more

I'm not sure why this place has such good ratings.. maybe I went on an off day? I ordered the butter chicken bowl, samosas, bhel, and crispy cauliflower. The flavor of the butter chicken was ok (I've actually never had bad butter chicken, I love it) but the actually chicken chunks were so dry, it almost felt as if I were chewing paper. The samosas smelled like bad oil and the flavor wasn't there.. it was also very doughy The bhel was good but I wish they packaged it separately so it wasn't soggy by the time it got home. (I live less than 10 mins away) The crispy cauliflower was probably my favorite. Seasoning was slightly mild BUT again the smell of the bad oil. The paratha that came with the butter chicken was just inedible because of the odor of old oil. I had hoped to like this place because of the great reviews and living so close but I won't be coming again. read more

I went to Maast back when it was in Skypark Circle. It was GREAT back then. Cheap, quick, spicy, and tasty. All great things. Their prices increased, and their level of spiciness decreased when they changed locations, which made me sad. They were one of the few Indian restaurants that made burritos in Southern California that were *actually* spicy! I'm guessing that when they changed locations, they had to adjust their spiciness palate in order to accommodate the locals who thought they could tolerate extra spicy foods--but then couldn't, and blamed the restaurant. I went again recently, and asked the cashier taking my order if she could make my burrito as spicy as possible. She tried to clarify, asking me if I wanted my burrito "Extra Hot," which is the highest level they have. I said, "No, even spicier...as spicy as possible." She then nodded her head and smiled. When I got my order later, the woman told me she gave me an "Extra Hot" burrito, and also gave me some spicier sauce on the side. When I got home, I opened up the burrito and tried it without the sauce on the side. There was a slight burn, but it wasn't really very spicy. But then I added the extra sauce on the side and WOO BOY, it was perfect!!! Soo good! I only needed about 1/2 of it for my burrito, but it was perfect. Spicy curry that builds a sheen of sweat on the brow, but not so spicy that you can't take another bite. That is what I remember! So if you want some tasty, spicy curry, come over to Maast and, *in person*, ask for their extra spicy sauce. I wish they automatically added it to their food, but I'm guessing maybe they had too many bad experiences making their Extra Hot...actually extra hot, and customers not being appreciative. I ordered it medium-hot and ended up throwing in a little siracha - next time I'll get it spicy. The roti was crispy and hot! The rice was steaming. I usually seek out a good orange chicken at a fast-food Chinese restaurant or a teriyaki chicken at a Teriyaki food place. In this situation, it's looking for a good Tikka Chicken at an Indian place. It has one of the better Tikka I've had. TThe Tikka sauce is creamy and thick. The chicken is tender. They give you much sauce to dip the naan in or pour over the rice. The naan, or flat bread as they call it on the menu, is a bit greasy. It's not your typical naan, you see, but more similar to a roti. It's small and greasy. Flavor was ok. The basmati rice is fluffy and flavorful. It's not clumpy or dry and nicely moist. The portion could've been more to complement the tikka portion. I love Maast Indian. This place is very close to where I work, so I frequently come here to order their delicious butter chicken. This restaurant has one of the best butter chickens I've had at an Indian Restaurant. If you're here on a lunch rush, i HIGHLY recommend to order online for pick up. The service upon walk in is not the fastest, so if you only have a 30 minute lunch like me and every minute counts, be sure to plan ahead a bit. I've tried both their butter chicken plate and their butter chicken burrito, and have to say that the plate is much better. I like the concept of the burrito, but they skimp on the sauce when you get the burrito. I enjoy my butter chicken and rice swimming in the sauce, which you get when you order the plate. Also, the excess carbs in the burrito just aren't for me. Awesome concept, but I prefer to eat dishes the way they are traditionally made. The naan and loaded masala fries are also delicious. Do yourself a favor and try those fries at least once and make sure you get them loaded (with the sauce). I came here for lunch over the weekend because my sis has the OTM app which allowed her one free entree. Smart business move because if it weren't for the app and promo, we would have never ventured over this side of town. It is located in the business area of Irvine. It was nice to be there on a weekend because it was quaint and vacant- I am sure it is very busy during the weekday business hours. Anyways- she got her free entree which was some burrito off the menu which was really delicious. They wrap it with a naan-like flatbread which has a nice, soft and sweet tasting texture and complemented the sauces and meat well. It was a peculiar tasting burrito- but in a good way. I would order this if they actually have it on their regular menu. I personally ordered the chicken makani mac n cheese and chicken tikka masala bowl. Chicken tikka masala bowl was delicious AF. I am pretty critical of Indian food because I've had really good ones in the past and their creamy and sweet tasting chicken tikka masala was on point. The entree comes with rice, flatbread and this crispy cracker/chip thing. I didn't care for the chip. Rice and flatbread was the perfect combination. The chicken makani mac n cheese was a little disappointing because there was very little chicken in it. But again, it was only $7 so I didn't expect much. I wouldn't mind paying a little more to have more meat though TBH. Overall- I would definitely come back here if I really crave it since it will be worth the drive. The burrito was very flavorful and well seasoned. The chicken wings were perfectly cooked and tender. The onion fritters were a bit soggy by the time we got home, but not their fault.
