We were so full we definitely needed to go boxes but we also still had to try desert! We got Malai Kulfi it was so rich and creamy and honestly is going to haunt my dreams until I get back to OC! Not good. Weird flavors. Both the chicken tikka masala and the butter chicken were very sweet... tasted very off. The onion bhaji were just bad... rubbery and flavorless. The naan was kind of wet when we opened the aluminum foil. The samosa was bizarrely coated in salt almost entirely. So freaking weird. The samosa chaat was not bad. Would not recommend. read more

The charred classic tandoori chicken had a great smoky flavor and was tender and juicy with just the right amount of spice. I was craving Indian food for lunch and came across this place on my Yelp app. I had driven by it before but never stopped by until recently. They're located in a large shopping plaza off of Marguerite Pkwy, across the street from the MV library and same plaza as Trader Joe's. Plenty of parking is available in the shared lot. I had called in my order ahead of time and only had to wait about 5 min when I arrived. The restaurant faces Marguerite Pkwy and it's a decent size with plenty of seating inside. First of all, I was very impressed with the lunch special prices! It's $9.99 for 1 item or $11.99 for 2 items, and you can choose from 8 different items. It also comes with basmati rice and naan bread. I selected the 1 item lunch special for $9.99 (Tikka Masala) and added 1 piece Chicken Tandoori for $4.99. The Tikka Masala had good flavor but it was too soupy for me and there were only 3-4 small chicken pieces. The Chicken Tandoori was fabulous! It was tender and flavorful, however it was a small piece and I didn't think it warranted the price of $4.99. I would definitely return just for the Chicken Tandoori alone. Unfortunately they don't offer that as a lunch special option, but you can order it as a regular plate for $14.99.. read more

Unfortunately had a pretty bad first experience here. 1. Husband called ahead a pick-up order of butter chicken and chicken tikka masala. He was told 20-25 mins. He arrives 27 minutes later and is told "7 more minutes"... 15 minutes later he gets the food. 2. We were told both chicken orders come with a side of rice. See pic for what "2 sides of rice" in one container looks like... 3. We get home aaaaand the order is wrong. Instead of chicken tikka masala, we were given chicken tikka. I attribute this to the cutesy names they tried to jazz up the menu with. Unfortunately, cute doesn't always mean functional or useful and it confuses the staff as well. We called and spoke with the same female that took the order and she had the nerve to give attitude at first. And then we drove back and picked up the new, correct, order. The chef personally greeted me (I later found out he was also the owner), and since I told him it was my first time really trying Indian food, he took the time to walk me through the menu. He asked what flavors I usually like and made thoughtful recommendations. He also insisted I try the naan--his reasoning was simple: everyone loves garlic bread, and he was absolutely right. From the first bite, I was blown away. The flavors were rich, perfectly balanced, and unlike anything I'd had before. It completely changed how I think about Indian food. We went there on Christmas Day. I was surprised to see them open but the place was empty (as to be expected). It's a nice place. Now the food. We got 2 lamb dishes and the was was generally good. However, I was really disappointed by the lamb. It was not just chewy but actually hard to chew at all. Almost like the lamb was over cooked or re-cooked. After observing closely, the pieces looked blackened and burnt. Before heading over, I did see a review from a few months ago complaining about the same thing. It doesn't appear that the restaurant has fixed the problem. Verdict: Nice little place. Reasonable pricing. However, even though the food had a lot of great flavor, I'd be hesitant to visit or recommend this place because of the quality of meat they use. I hope they fix it. read more

I've been craving Tandoori chicken for a while and the only options I can think of in the area were AYCE. Natraj and the other one by El Toro Rd had good Tandoori but I did not want too much food and the temptation of overeating. So we took a chance with Cali Curry House. Wowww! We all agreed that this might be the best Tandoori chicken we have ever had! I moved to Mission Viejo back in October. I'm used to eating at local restaurants and always had authentic absolutely delicious food when I lived in LA. This is the first restaurant that I've been to down here that made me feel like I was back there. Everything my wife and I had last night was fantastic. They were also extremely accurate with spice levels. We both asked for a spice level comparable to a jalapeno and the nailed it. Pro tip, stop telling Indian restaurants a number or medium/hot/etc for spice levels, compare it to a pepper. Everything was fresh, light, and herbaceous. The icing on the cake was, it's one of the few restaurants in Mission Viejo that's not overpriced. It's a relatively new restaurant but absolutely worth checking out. Most dishes are under $20 and most of the appetizers are under $10. And I didn't try them all because they had like 10 different ones but the few different types of naan l tried were absolutely delicious. read more

Gobi Manchurian lacked flavor and too much corn starch making the dish sticky . The highlight of the trip was the lemon lime soda. It was good. I hope this business survives but location is hard to find, the signage is gold in color making it difficult to see with sunlight.
