This is the elephant that was next to my table.

Sunday, October 19, 2025 / Approx. 2PM I have had Indian food all over the globe, and my criteria for judging a good restaurant cover the following three (3) categories: 1) Is the Naan good? At this restaurant, the Naan is served fresh & warm, has the perfect consistency and flavor, and the initial serving is plentiful. 2) Is the Goat Curry good? Actually, some all you can eat Indian restaurants don't even serve goat curry, but this establishment serves a very spicy and yummy goat curry, which made me sweat a little. 3) Is the Gulab Jamun decadently sweet? Yes, the GJ here is served warm, sweet & sticky. CONCLUSION: if you're ever on Interstate 5 near Lake Forest, and you have a craving for some authentic Indian food, this place is a must visit. (Also, the AYCE buffet is under $20.00, which is a bargain in this era of inflation!)

Never gets old. This time we substituted cream sauce with coconut cream as a vegan option for the kaju koya and vegetable korma dishes. Both excellent. The lemon rice was a nice compliment to our meals with a slight crunch-interesting and tasty. Good service as always. Waiters are kind, polite, and attentive. Very clean restaurant and orderly. Will be back for sure!

For a $16 dollar all you can eat Indian food lunch special - this is really a great deal! The food was very good, service very kind, I think I'm just used to having Indian music, maybe the TV showing Indian dances, etc. Also an Indian waiter was missing. The food was very good as mentioned, it's just that some of the items didn't taste like authentic Indian food. (based upon my experience with frequenting, so many Indian restaurants all over Orange County) Being more familiar with the previous Indian restaurant that was here decades prior, I had a familiarity. But don't get me wrong, the food was very good and there were lots of choices. However, One of the choices that I would not ever select is the Goat Meat (It just doesn't sound or looks appetizing for me.) In addition, I'm used to the rice pudding having rosewater in it, & more flavorful. In summary, perhaps the main issue was - flavors were off. Also familiarity with the cuisine, is important. I need to remember that 4 stars is great. Side Note: We have a family member who's part of the autistic spectrum and she used her visual aid vocabulary cards (pictured).

Flavorful and delicious indian food at a reasonable price! They offer lunch buffets. The interior is neat enough and the servers are warm.

Tikka masala was very sweet with no other complex notes. I've never had tikka masala like that. Not good. Samosas were too thick and bland. Lemon rice had unsalted pale peanuts. I love lemon rice, and one of the joys of it is having the salted browned peanuts. Disappointing. Dal makhani was okay. Hard to mess that up. Naan was great. Atmosphere was not my favorite. It's very close to the freeway and it feels like it. Cold and minimal. Service was very sweet and I'm sorry to leave a bad review. But there are so many other Indian places in Orange County that are also family run, whose food deserves more attention.

Samosa, tiki masala, indo chicken, chickpea curry.

Food: 4/5 There are a few curry options to choose from: tiki masala, chicken curry, goat curry, lentil soup, and tandoori chicken. They also have some fried goodies: egg rolls, fries and samosas to choose from, which were delicious! Service: 5/5 Waiters were very attentive and provided garlic naans and water when low. The took empty plates away as soon as we were done. Ambiance: 5/5 Nice and clean!

The service was amazing!! Our server was very patient and helpful. It was our first time there and we had a great experience. The food was delicious! Quite pricey but delicious. The ambiance was quiet so a romantic dinner is nice. The place is very clean too.

A little bit of everything... and fresh, hot naan brought to the table. Weekday buffet $9.95... awesome deal!

Ok so this place recently changed names/ownership but the food and service are still outstanding! They have lunch buffet every day from 11-2:30 (3pm on weekends) and the price is now only $15!! This is the best price around for Indian buffet and the quality is super. We came in for a late lunch around 2pm on Sunday and there was still lots of hot food and I saw them replenish a couple dishes. There are booths lining the sides of the dining room and tables in the center (most patrons opt for the booths as we did). I like that it doesn't feel so crammed. Service was very attentive with someone constantly coming by to bring drinks and naan, clear plates, refill drinks, etc. The food itself was very tasty. They have over a dozen hot items... highlights were the tandoori chicken (so moist and flavorful), chili cauliflower, chicken biryani, saag paneer and goat curry. The chicken tikka masala here was a little bit of a disappointment as the chicken used were blocks of unmarinated chicken breast. The sauce was fantastic but I recommended to my husband and son to get the sauce and use it on the tandoori chicken. I finished my meal with gulag jamun which was super!

I went here for the first time on a Monday evening and ordered the gobi manchurian, shahi paneer, malai kofta, garlic naan and the gulab jamun. The service was really good and the ambiance was very cozy and inviting. The food itself was amazing. The garlic naan was very tasty and buttery. My favorite was the shahi paneer but everything overall was a 10/10. I will be going back for the lunch buffet snd definitely recommend this, especially if you are in the Lake Forest Area!

Yum! The only thing I did not like about Royal Rasoi is that is is far from me. My husband and I wanted to try something new so we decided to make the drive to check out this establishment. We came on a Saturday for lunch and it was busy but no wait. I liked that they had their lunch buffet even on the weekends. And on Sundays they include champagne. The self service area had a large variety including a whole section of vegetarian options. Everything I tried I enjoyed. The foods were full of flavor and always refilled. All the meats we had tasted tender and delicious. We got a choice between regular and garlic naan which we got garlic. It was yummy. Oh and we got a lassi drink as well but I don't recommend it since it tasted off. Service was great and they made sure to give us more drinks and take away our finished plates. The inside is pretty spacious which makes getting the food easy. We would definitely come back.

Terry K.

Best naan hands down!! The food here is top notch and the atmosphere is cozy if you sit by the burgundy wall! They treat you like family here ime even though the only words I know are Indian food words! Royal India is the best buffet deal on the planet! The quality of their menu far exceeds the price they charge! Tip well and get some champagne once in a while and they treat you even better and better on every new visit!

Our food selection.

Good food. Nice service. The weekday lunch buffet is a good value.. with enough options. Mostly quiet and air condition a steady flow of customer. We've been here a couple times and they've been consistent.

One detail I loved was the screen playing old-school Indian movies in the background. It adds a layer of nostalgia to the experience that's hard to describe, almost like the feeling you get watching classic black-and-white films. The food does take a little while to come out, but it's absolutely worth the wait. Service is friendly. Samosa Chaat (9/10) - An explosion of flavours. I loved that they leave larger chunks of samosa throughout the dish instead of turning it into one giant mashed potato bowl. Great texture and balance. Dahi Puri (8/10) - Refreshing, slightly spicy, sweet, and savuory all at once. Plus, it's a fun dish to eat. Lamb Curry (7.5/10) - The meat was tender and the curry itself was rich and flavuorful. Butter Chicken (8.5/10) - Packed with flavor and hands down the best butter chicken I've had in Orange County. My only complaint is that the portion wasn't bigger. I ran out of butter chicken before I finished my naan

This review is for their online ordering…read more This is my first impression of Mint. I live in Irvine and always eat at Southern Spice, Clay Pot or Natraj when I crave Indian food. However this time I thought I would try something different. So I ordered online with Mint. All the pictures and reviews were decent so why not? Well I should've stuck with my OG's because this was not it. I ordered x2 buttered chicken that was in a very small container (see photo attached) for $20 EACH! Garlic Naan that was $5, Mango Lassi also $5 and Gelato. First, if you guys are paying $20 for a small tiny container of butter chicken in LH please please do yourself a favor and go try Southern Spice. Their flavors are mouthwatering and the portion is huge. I understand inflation but this is ridiculous and the flavor is blah. It's like there is no spices in there at all just butter and tomato sauce AND the kicker...no rice! Super weird to me that they do not automatically give you rice! Like who just orders butter chicken or any Indian,Chinese, Korean dish for that matter without rice! I mean rice has to cost you guys a pretty small fraction no? Just give people 1/2c of rice! If not, at least you should make note of that on your menu so people know ahead of ordering. The garlic Naan is decent really no complaints there, the Mango Lassi they gave me was the size of a kiddy cup (see photo) Literally a child's sippy cup is bigger than what I received for $5 insane! And just to make matters worse, when I opened by bag they placed my gelato directly on top of the hot food! So when I took it out, it had completely melted. $10 for melted pistachio creamy soup, just what I wanted. You guys have to do better for your customers. I get the price increases but for what you are giving and the immense amount of lack of flavors...is wild. Save your money, drive a little bit further and eat some true Indian food in Irvine/Tustin cause this place is not it. The pictures posted are truly beautiful but pictures are not everything especially when it comes to food quality and flavor. I am only giving two stars bc the Mango Lassi and Garlic Naan were decent tasting.

The place is spotlessly clean, the service is exceptionally great, and the menu is so exhaustive you might need a bookmark. We went all-in on the dinner service. The Chicken 65 was prepared with the exact right amount of spice--perfectly balanced and making me wonder what happened to chickens 1 through 64. The Dahl was fantastic, but the absolute showstopper was the Biryani. Take it from someone who has spent time working in Hyderabad: this is the real deal, highly reminiscent of the city's absolute finest. We finished things off with the Shahi Tukda, which was so incredibly rich and tasty it probably needs its own tax bracket. Beyond the food, the logistics are a breeze. It's right off El Toro Road with ample parking (a true Southern California miracle). They also offer catering if you want to be the hero of your next event. We didn't get to try the lunch special this time, but it's an incredible value--two entrees, rice, naan, and a drink, neatly sidestepping the usual buffet trough. Bottom line: Go here. I'd driven past it plenty of times on the way to the dog groomer and never once felt compelled to stop. Friday night changed that. We were hungry, but not sit-down-for-two-hours hungry. We wanted something better than fast food, but not some overproduced evening of cocktails and self-importance. We wanted food worth getting out of the car for. Rangeen hit that mark beautifully. Getting my wife on board took some work. She's not a curry person. But a few online photos of fresh, vibrant salads were enough to win her over. Inside, the place still showed traces of whatever came before it, a blank quick-serve menu screen hanging awkwardly over the counter, like a relic from another life. But this was table service, and a perfectly comfortable one at that. There were maybe eight or nine tables, and one lone server holding down the front of house. Casual, older, thin, moving with purpose. She greeted us warmly, dropped menus, answered the phone, checked back often, kept the table tidy, and somehow managed to make the whole room feel cared for without a hint of drama. I went for the spicy mango chicken. My wife chose a healthy-looking salad with grilled sweet potatoes, nuts, and all the things I generally avoid unless someone smarter than me orders them first. We added naan, because not ordering naan would have been foolish. The food took a few minutes longer than the impatient part of your brain might expect. But then it arrived, and suddenly none of that mattered. My dish was excellent: nicely seasoned bite-sized pieces of chicken, rice, a fresh side salad, and a spicy sauce that pulled the whole thing together with real intention. And the plating, that was the surprise. This wasn't tossed on a plate like an afterthought from the spot next to the grocery store. It looked like someone actually gave a damn. And that, really, is what stays with you. Not just that the food was good, but that care had gone into it. The ingredients may not have been expensive, I say that as someone who owns restaurants and knows roughly what things cost, but value isn't about raw food cost. It's about what arrives at the table, how it's presented, and whether anybody in the building seems to care if you enjoy it. At $19, this was a steal. For about the price of a drive-thru burger meal, I got something thoughtful, well executed, and satisfying enough to remind me why local places like this matter. And to the party of four next to us who only left a five-dollar tip: do better.

Boneless Chicken and Beef Koobideh Combo: One of the most dangerous things to order, as both things can either come out as dry, or start off as great, then dry up before you can finish. None of those scenarios happened here. The chicken was soft, juicy, seasoned very well, and it stayed that way. The beef koobideh had this smoky flavor profile, which is different from what I normally expect, and I liked it. Potato Boloni: I've never had boloni in my life, and the closest comparison I have is a Chinese or Korean pancake. The boloni had areas of spiciness, and I think it had room to go higher. It's definitely an appetizer, and I won't mind having it again. Service: There were only 2-3 occupied tables when we went. I think the staff had plenty of time to take our orders, give us water, and the food arrived within a reasonable time.
