Rather than spend a day waiting for a genius at the genius bar to help, we looked for an alternative repair shop and discovered Mac 911. In one hour, Felix removed and replaced the battery. I've been here twice now.. the most recent time they saved me over $400 from what the Apple Store was asking.. I spilled beer all over my laptop and the Apple Store said when they opened it up there was tons of corrosion and that it was in terrible shape.. was going to cost $795 to replace the battery, the hard drive and some other stuff. I took it here for a second opinion and learned that the additional repairs the Apple Store was asking for were unnecessary. Still cost $365 but WAY better than what Apple Store wanted.. Received diagnosis from the Apple Store on 3rd St Promenade that trackpad in 2011 MacBook Air needed replacement. Would have repaired there, but they have 3-5 day turnaround, something we needed to avoid. Enter Apple authorized repair center Mac911 down the street. Felix came to same diagnosis and repaired in under 2 hours (note: I had them order part in advance, then brought in the MacBook when the part was ready - thus the quick turnaround). Pretty disappointed in this place. I called a couple weeks ago to ask about repair and was told to bring my computer in. I had already taken it to MacPro, who checked it out for free and told me it was a moderately inexpensive fix. But I wanted a second opinion. So I drive an hour, just to get to their store and be told it's $90 to even check my computer for the problem. I told him what the other store said was causing my issue and the gentleman informed me it couldn't possibly be that, and listed a couple much more expensive possibilities. Not impressed. My hard drive fried itself out taking my life with it, and when I say life I mean all of my work for the past two years. After calming me down they took my computer and said they would see what they could do, but were pretty confident they could restore most of what was lost. Well they got me back 99% of what was lost, transferred it all to my new MacBook Pro, got me set up with a back up drive, backed up all my stuff and had me back up and working within 24 hours. These guys totally saved my bacon and I would recommend them to anyone - especially if you aren't tech savvy because they do not talk down to you and help explain what is going on and what they can do to help. read more

Our Mac Guru at the office recommended this place and it was GREAT. I dealt only with Felix, the owner who has owned the place for almost 20 years. He was accurate in what he quoted me (so I don't know what that other broad is talking about who gave a bad review) and it was done same day. We ordered a inverter board for a laptop and luckily it was overnighted and available within 48 hours. The friendly hipsters on the promenade at the mac store or the other stores we called could not guarantee this. The shop itself is non pretentious and almost stark as you walk in with a few accessories lining the walls. They have a back area where they work like elves in Santa's North Pole. It's a convenient location on Main street and is a short segway trip away from our office (yes I ride a segway and yes it looks ridiculous). Overall I was so pleased with the quality, reliability, and speed of this licensed Mac store that I would go again and recommend it to anyone with a Mac! Thank you Felix and Mac 911!!! read more

If I could, I would give 0 star. I spent about $400 and my computer is worse than before. They didn't even recognize the problem in the beginning, and kept saying something completely unrelated to my computer issue. When I corrected them about what actually was going on with my computer, they said they never experienced it since they had my brought my computer, and that I'm probably not understanding the issue right. REALLY? accusing your customer is greatest thing you can do, dumbxxxk. Luckily I had captured evidence shot and showed it to them, which finally they admitted that it COULD be an issue. Then, it went on. 1. They said they'd call me in 3-4 days after the initial diagnosis. No, they never did. When I called them on day 7, some guy in a very chill tone said "oh, yeah. it's done." REALLY? After 7 days all you could say is that? Without a plain apology? Then, they never knew what real issue was. So it took another 10 days for us to go back and forth because they would NEVER return your call and everytime you call either the guy's not there or he hasn't figured out. Finally, it's done so I picked it up and came home. 2. The very day I got my computer back, I turned it on, started to work on my project. And literally after a min or two, the computer started having the EXACT SAME ISSUE that it had had before. OMG. After good 20 days, the issue still remained the same. I called them the first thing next morning, explained the situation. Their response? Same as what I wrote above. "We didn't see that, it might be your cable, are you sure it's happening again? etc." And of course, without an apology just like before. 3. I seriously didn't want my computer to go back there, but thought they should know it by now. Stupid me. I should've known that they didn't deserve the second chance. The second process was the exact repetition of number 1 and 2. 4. After spending about 40 days, dealing w/ BS customer service, and dumbest supposed-to-be-techie, my computer is now worse than before. Oh, let me stress it one more time. I did throw about $400 into this shit hole called Mac 911. If I hadn't been so busy early this year, I would've def called BBB and reported their negligence and poorest customer service I had ever experienced. At the end, if the issue remains the same, don't I qualify for a refund? All they kept saying was, again in a very chilled tone without an apology, "oh, just bring it back. we'll look at it again." Well, I'm glad others have had some good experiences here, mine was not good. I left my Macbook with a crashed hard drive one WEEK ago to have data recovery. They said it would be $90 just to look at it and tell me if they could even recover the data. It took them 6 days even to get back to me about whether they could even see the data and imagine they might be able to recover it. This is after promising they would be able to tell me in "24 to 48 hours" and then give me a quote about recovering the data. I called yesterday (day 7) and they guy who answered said he was able to see my drive and "it looked good" for recovering the data,but that he'd call me back in 10 minutes. I waited half an hour, then had to leave for another appointment. Called this morning (day 8) and got the SAME LINE ABOUT LOOKING AT THE DRIVE AND TELLING ME LATER IF THE DATA COULD BE RECOVERED!!! That they would have to image the drive first and let me know how much of the data is recoverable. And that when the same guy comes in at noon (I can't wait and call back then, I have to leave right now for my day....) he would give me a quote on recovering the data and if that would be possible. This was supposed to happen 7 days ago. And the guy on the phone this morning said the price would be between $350 - $500 for giving me my data back. Really, guys? I mean, really? 8 days in the shop and you haven't even imaged the drive? I have work to do and can't do it because you have my computer. A hard drive can be imaged overnight when no one is even in the shop, even I know that. I'm now on my way over there to get back my computer in exactly the same condition as when I took it in one week ago. Forget this place. Really. read more

What a great experience. The battery on my Macbook Air was dying. At Unitek they were going to keep my computer for 3 - 5 business days. I brought it to Felix at Mac 911 and he had it back to me in less than 2 hours. The price was fantastic. Probably having your computer not boot up because you spilled a little water on it is not one of the finer times in one's life...especially when it's your daughter's computer. We took it to the Apple Store but their estimate was sky high as they assist on fixing items that we could live with but they need to address to their standards. But at their recommendation, they suggested that we go to an authorized repair facility. With our laptop in hands, and a heavy heart, we gave it to the welcoming hands of Felix who told me that he would let it dry over the weekend and look at it first thing on Monday morning. Here's the thing - he could have told me anything and I would have believed him - but what he told me was the authentic truth. He was able to dry it out - he cleaned up a little corrosion - spotted one small needed repair and we were out the door with a fixed computer with only a 2 hour labor bill to pay. Too many times, Yelp or Glassdoor reviews only highlight the negative. I wanted to give a big shout out to Felix and Mac 911 for being a stand-up company. Thanks! read more

I definitely recommend MAC911. This is one of those places where you get what you pay for. $90 per hour for labor. But totally worth it. I brought my 2010 macbook pro to them with a maxed out hard drive and a replacement hard drive that needed to be installed (because I tried, but I could not get the new hard drive to fire up properly when I installed it). MAC911 said that they would do the backup and install for 2 hours of labor, but that if I wanted to do the back up myself, they would just charge 1 hour labor to install the new hard drive. I went home, backed up my machine, then brought it back. A couple hours later, they returned my machine ready to go. My macbook is running like the day I bought it...now with 4X the storage. read more

I took my Macbook Pro here to get my hardrive upgraded and replaced. They gave me a good price over the phone and I brought my computer in. Sales guy was a bit grumpy in the morning but I forgave him because I happily picked my computer back up by 4PM in the afternoon. Stoked If your into upgrading parts and not waiting in line at the Mac store, I would recommend this place. They also carry many Apple related products you can't get at the Apple store. So far so good, my computer hasn't caught on fire or crashed since they replaced my drive. I took my laptop here to have my screen repaired. I was able to drop it off as a walk in client without any issue. They said it would be fixed Monday and it was. When I went to pick it up, my experience completely changed. After spending over $500, the manager spoke to me with such disregard and disrespect that I would never recommend them or use them in the future. They removed and destroyed nearly a $40 laptop cover and refused to show any remorse or offer any solution to help replace the laptop cover. He was unwilling to help in any way and never even apologized for his lack of care for my belonging. Never in the entire process did they call or say that the case would be destroyed. Where I come from, the customer is always the priority and deserves to be treated with respect and care regardless of how much money they spent. I left extremely unhappy and upset. read more

My internal hard drive too a dump. Opened up the rear case of my uni-body MBP and removed my HDD (which took me 90 sec). After switching out my HDD and booting it in another mac I determined it was my hard drive cable that was defective (whichis common with uni-body MBP). Did a web search, looks to be approx $20-$40 for the cable. I didn't want to wait for the shipping so I did a search on yelp, found this place. And since I wasn't willing wait for it to ship I was willing to pay premium for the said cable. I called to inquire about purchasing a HDD cable. Guy on the phone told me he can't sell it to me. He said it must be sent in for repair and the labor alone would cost $90...I didn't even bother asking how much the cable would cost, I just hung up. Ridiculous, apple finally makes a product easy enough to open up and repair and places like this wants to charge a dollar a minute to "fix." NO THANKS! RIP OFF! read more

Then I stopped it in the middle of set up (in fairness, the software said I could, but it turns out you shouldn't.) By the time I got to Mac911 I was ready to murder someone. I brought my mid-2017 Macbook pro to Mac911 because I was having issues with my keyboard and a few other things. I left my Macbook with Ali on a Friday morning around 10 am. He told me they would likely need to send the computer to Apple since there were so many warranty issues to be addressed. He also said it could take anywhere from 3-5 working days to get my Macbook back. This worried me, as I chose Mac911 because they do their repairs in house. I'm not too fond of the idea of sending my essential tool to some repair house where I have no idea what might happen to it. Well, my worries were unwarranted. I got a call from Mac911 the following Monday, and they told me my computer was ready! Wow, I was impressed. Every issue was resolved, and Apple covered everything under the extended AppleCare+ warranty. All of this in only 3 working days! I have nothing negative to say about the team at Mac911. Needed a new battery for a MacBook Pro from 2014, and these guys were willing, which most shops were not, as something of this age will be obsolete (next year) by Mac standards. Since the trackpad and keyboard are attached to the battery, it's not a small thing to switch them out. Ali and his partner were professional, and since it seems to just be the two of them, perhaps that's why they're not 'chatty Kathys' on the phone - they have a lot of work to do!
