I'm only being generous with 3 stars because this place usually bangs for a nice lunch. This time, however, one member of my party had a raw chicken sandwich. Like, how is that possible? Disappointing sums it up. I had the Miami tradition. It was so cold and took forever to get our food. Server only came by to take order and to drop off the check. Some other person brought out the food. Tater tots were amazing. Bathrooms are gross, no soap. I really wanted to like this place more. read more

Use to love this place in the Todd days. It's a solid okay now. Prices are just too high for what I'm expecting. The Miami tradition is a solid choice and the burgers are good. Servers are all working hard and the food is prompt. Again, the price to quality doesn't meet my standard. read more

My coworkers and I came late one evening after recruiting on campus that day. Even though it was so late, we were still greeted warmly and seated quickly. The waitress was very nice and brought our beers quickly. They have a large on tap selection, which made it hard to decide at first what I wanted. As for food selection, they have the typical bar flare. I got a salad after a day of heavy eating. It was good but nothing spectacular, but the tator tots my coworker shared with me from her sandwich were awesome! All in all, the place was good and we would come back, but the biggest reason as to why this place got 5 stars happened after we left. After our meal we walked back to the hotel, which is where my coworker realized she lost her phone. She was able to go back to the restaurant, was let in even after they closed, and they had already retrieved her phone. This experience speaks to the quality of staff working here. read more

Regular menu prices are a bit steep, but their lunch and happy hour specials are well priced for a college town pub. Our server was new but she did a great job! It's got a lot of personality lacked a tiny space but feels cozy rather than cramped. read more

Visit to Oxford for my son's football camp. What an awesome town and we hit Mac and Joe's for a fun dinner. Standard pub fare and the service was awesome. We had the the buffalo dip, an order of wings and their "famous turkey sandwich". All was delicious. Not sure if we'll be back to Oxford but wouldn't hesitate in eating here again. read more

Tried the mac bites which to my surprise were really good! Service was friendly, atmosphere good but can be loud I'm sure on game day or when classes are in session. Cozy pub which prides itself on a 75+ year history. It's small with a lot of seating - great utilization of space- so it's loud. All the booths, chairs and barstools are wood. The end booths have a "snuggery " feel. I noted some early Cincinnati Reds/Pete Rose memorabilia. A lot of TVs for such a small place. The ceiling is very unique! Plenty of beers on tap with numerous rotating craft selections plus an interesting cocktail list. My husband wanted a margarita and it was good! I had a shock top. Along the top of the bar are chalkboards with all the beers and their ABVs listed. I had the curry chicken salad. The chicken salad itself was very good though I thought a little on the salty side. I didn't care for the green salad part though which was all 'mesclun mix' plus chopped tomato/cucumber. Would have been much better over crispy iceberg lettuce. I would have it again but as a sandwich and skip those greens. He had the steakburger, done medium. It was perfect. Both portions were generous and reasonably priced. Service was good and attentive. The tiny bathroom (ladies) was heated and the hot water was HOT; so important on a cold winter's day. They are open 7 days starting at 11 am. read more

There's just something about them ally bars that I can't stay away from. I come here for good wings, but honestly their entire menu is just delicious. If the students are in town it's typically very busy, but the bar is always first come first serve. We are at the bar and had a great experience. The bartender was attentive and managed customers and server tickets efficiently. My beer stayed full and food came out hot! Mac and Joes was my jam years ago when I was in school, and it has held up really well. Stopped in on a holiday Monday for lunch and there were several parents with students in for a lunch. Popped in tonight (a Tuesday). Not terribly busy. Opted for the mushroom Swiss burger with onion rings. Onion rings were solid! So good. Batter was perfect and perfectly fried. The burger was also excellent. Burgers are always better when you don't mess with the meat too much. You want the meat to be kinda loose when it hits the grill. Whoever is putting the burgers together there knows this. This also got the right amount of char on the outside. I know tastes vary when it comes to burgers, but for me, this is exactly how I like them. They also have a German restaurant called Steinkeller Bier Hall. College beer and food place. Down an alley in an old building. It has character. Mac and cheese bites and m8 I corn dog appetizers. Waitress worked hard. Don't ask too much about the beer, they may not be old enough to have tried anything but Miller Light. I got an amazing sour beer called Rhein skill in or something. Pulled pork was terrific. Have been here 2 times and ordered takeout once! Good place to go with friends. Had good experiences both times eating in. Staff is friendly. I really enjoyed my black bean burger! I also have tried the char grilled chicken salad with lemon pepper seasoning. It was delicious, chicken was seasoned well and the ranch was some of the best that I have had in a while! I honestly was expecting some thing a little bit better. It's a small town so I didn't expect the food to be amazing, but the pictures and reviews were a lot better than I expected. The service was great. The server was a nice kid from the school and very helpful and nice. So that was great. But ultimately, the food was not really that great. I ordered buffalo chicken and I thought it would be traditional buffalo chicken. Instead it was dry grilled chicken with some sauce on top. Bun was kind of blah. The fries were good. This is the oldest place in Oxford. Definitely a college bar, but all ages of people were there at lunch. We had a group, so it took awhile to get our food, but was all good. Chicken salad sandwich is home made and delicious. Fun atmosphere and lots of history. read more

I love Mac & Joe's..for the mac & cheese bites! They're the best I have ever had. I wish the bar had a bit of a bigger selection, but it's fine. I really just come for the mac & cheese bites. I tried to pickle fries this time and those were delicious too. I love that they were smaller in size and the taste was delicious. Fun college sort of place. Had Mac and cheese bites and a burger with jalapeños and onion bacon jam that was delicious. A little more expensive than I would have expected ($15 for burger plus potato chips) but it was tasty. Others with me ordered spicy garlic wings and a buffalo chicken sandwich, both got a thumbs up.
