    Why I sought a repair: A key had popped off of my 6 month old MacBook Air. I had already looked up tutorials on how to fix it myself, but there are some delicate plastic hinges under the keys that I felt more comfortable having an expert put the key back on. Problem with Mac-Fusion: I brought the computer in and showed them the issue. They immediately told me I needed the entire key deck replaced. While my computer is under apple-care warranty (meaning the repair would have been free) I was appalled by their response. I explained to them that the key was not damaged, it just had unclipped from the plastic hooks and needed to put back on. The associate "showed the computer to his technician" who gave the same response-- they entire key deck would need to be replaced. What is alarming about this interaction is it shows that they do not know these machines actually operate. Neither of the two associates, nor the technician were able to look at the keyboard and be able to say whether the mechanism underneath the key was broken, versus the key having popped off but still in fine condition. This place is the equivalent of taking your car to a mechanic for a broken headlight and the only solution they have is to send your car back to the manufacturer to have the entire front fender replaced. I don't believe they were trying to scam me, rather they just do not understand how the machines they are working on actually work. I was able to go home, watch a YouTube video and properly reattach my key in about 15 minutes. Conclusion: There is no way I would trust them to replace my ENTIRE KEY DECK if they don't understand how the individual keys work. These guys are not knowledgeable on the products they work on and I would not trust them to do any repairs on your expensive machine. (before and after of the keyboard included)

Only Joe from OC Computer bothered to provide a brief, yet informative response. Without seeing my computer, he said I probably needed a new keyboard (palm rest as he called it), and that would be about $350, parts and labor. I was still able to use my computer for most stuff, so I was in no huge hurry. To cover all my bases, I took it to the Apple store in Cerritos just to see what they'd say. They weren't sure, saying I likely needed a new keyboard (as Joe said). When I mentioned the word "palm rest" it was like a foreign language to the guy. To make sure, they said they would have to send my computer off for a week...what? Of course, I asked how much that would be and they said $800...IF that indeed was the problem. Oh yeah, since I didn't have an appointment (my fault) I had to wait about an hour just to get a seat at one of the tables where you actually have a person come talk to you. Then I waited another 20 minutes until someone talked to me. The guy was nice, but I just didn't have a good feeling. After that appointment, I drove directly to OC Computer which is by my house, talked to Joe and Angel, put down a deposit for a new keyboard/palm rest and they called me when the part came in. In the meantime, like I said, I was able to hold on to my computer and use it for some stuff. When I took my laptop in, two days later I had it back and working. I probably could have had it back sooner, but I told them I was in no hurry. Anyway, OC Computer is less than two miles from my house, so I should have gone there first, but that's on me. Next time, if needed, I will. So, while I'm sure the Apple store is good for a lot of things (especially if you have insurance), I would at least talk to Joe and/or Angel and maybe save yourself some time and money. FYI...I waited a couple of weeks to post this Yelp review just in case there were any hiccups. There haven't been any...so, knock on wood. Anyway, thanks Joe and Angel.

These things are expensive, so I looked at repairing it versus replacing for a new iPad. While the Apple store will perform some work, they are closed during the pandemic, so I started Yelping alternatives. I contacted a phone service shop, and they explained the work required micro-soldering, which they don't do, but were nice enough to refer me to iTechCare. I contacted iTechCare and spoke with Xia. She is clearly very knowledgeable, and knew exactly what the work entailed. She made a recommendation on changing the battery since the case will be open, and the battery had a few years of charging cycles on it. I opted to just have the charging port replaced. I wanted to keep the time the iPad was away as short as possible, so I paid a deposit so the parts could be ordered. Then a couple of days later Xia notified me the parts were in, I dropped it off that evening, and she had it ready for pick up the next afternoon. Xia showed me photos of the old very-damaged charging port, which had several charging pins bent and some missing all together. It's been a couple of weeks now and the new charging port is still working flawlessly. Thank you!

Did a full diagnostic to figure out the issue, reinstalled Windows, updated everything, and even cleaned my device while I was there -- that was a nice plus I didn't expect. I also asked about missing bolts for my PC case and they actually took the time to look for some at the store for me. Most places wouldn't bother. Pricing was fair: paid a diagnostic fee to find the problem, then $130 to fix everything. Other shops quoted me way higher just to look at it. No upselling, just honest work. Highly recommend if you're in HB. I'll definitely be back for any computer issues.

Instead, I was repeatedly told it would be ready "tomorrow"--first Friday, then Monday, then Tuesday. After nearly a week with no answers, I had to return and insist on getting my computer back because they still had not completed the diagnostic. Despite keeping my laptop for almost seven days, they provided no diagnostic whatsoever and refused to refund the $90 diagnostic fee. I essentially paid $90 for them to hold onto my computer without performing the service I paid for. To make matters worse, when my MacBook was finally returned, I discovered a large dent on the back that was not there when I dropped it off. The communication was poor, the customer service was unacceptable, and I left feeling completely taken advantage of. I will be filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the appropriate Orange County consumer protection agencies regarding my experience. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this business to think carefully before leaving their computer here. My experience was that they kept my laptop for nearly a week, failed to provide the diagnostic I paid for, refused to refund my money, and returned my computer in worse physical condition than when I dropped it off.
