iPad charging port replacement. Our iPad became nearly unusable because of the worn out charging port. These things are expensive, so I looked at repairing it versus replacing for a new iPad. While the Apple store will perform some work, they are closed during the pandemic, so I started Yelping alternatives. I contacted a phone service shop, and they explained the work required micro-soldering, which they don't do, but were nice enough to refer me to iTechCare. I contacted iTechCare and spoke with Xia. She is clearly very knowledgeable, and knew exactly what the work entailed. She made a recommendation on changing the battery since the case will be open, and the battery had a few years of charging cycles on it. I opted to just have the charging port replaced. I wanted to keep the time the iPad was away as short as possible, so I paid a deposit so the parts could be ordered. Then a couple of days later Xia notified me the parts were in, I dropped it off that evening, and she had it ready for pick up the next afternoon. Xia showed me photos of the old very-damaged charging port, which had several charging pins bent and some missing all together. I called on Sunday which is a day off for this business typically but out of concern for potential continued water damage she took the phone in and communicated options quickly. I had the phone back the next day replacing a few other bad parts. I was presented several fair options for replacing the screen. I use my phone a lot for work and did not want the hassle of temperarilly deactivating and reactivating another phone so getting this one back quickly was my top priority. I should also add I was met after hours to pick up the device and pay for it very accommodating. Thank you. Some shops will not take the care nor time to look at the other pieces. They might slap a substandard screen on and send you on your way with a ticking time bomb.not here I could replace my own screen but I do not have the time to research the available options( yes they are completely different technologies for replacement screens.) nor would I have the time to research a reputable seller actually selling what is listed, nor the time to wait for it to arrive. even then I don't have the tools or spare parts to check other components in the phone, and would not know if something else was broken until I put it all back together again. I have used the warranty repair shops and fixed my own devices,but this will be my option going forward. Time is money and this service is better and more efficient.
