I should preface this by saying, I have avoided strip mall nail salons for over a year. After a previous horrible set of experiences where I was nipped until I bled and rotary drilled until my natural nails were so thin that warm water on my nails hurt, I decided I would just splurge and go to spas and salons that put emphasis on nail health over volume. My old gel mani was chipping and I figured, why not. I was quickly reminded why I don't go to these places. First off, no one gave me a menu or told me what packages were available. I guess I just got the default cheap one? Their loss, because again--I'm used to spending close to $100 on a shellac manicure at spas. The place stunk of acrylic, the stations were filthy. When I finally got my nail tech, she pulled out a bunch of bits from a nasty little jar and I should've left then and there, but I had to go through this so you wouldn't, Gentle Reader! She proceeded to buff off my gel, getting so close to my cuticle that she cut one of them. If that wasn't bad enough, she did the sloppiest paint job I've ever seen. See the pics! I think it ended up being like $50, and lord have mercy. It looks it. I needed a reminder, so thanks Mac Nails. Never again. I wish I still had my quality, slightly chipped manicure instead of a sloppy job. And she had the audacity to look at me some type of way when I insisted, several times, that she not cut my cuticles. If you care more about a bargain than quality, go for it. I will not be going back. Had my nails done and they were ugly from the start. I mentioned it even as practitioner started to apply the acrylic... 'never asking me what I wanted or preferred. He said, "This is how it's done now." The nails stuck straight up from my nailbed (I have pictures). I went back two days later not able to stand the look of hands... they were ugly. When I went back the woman lectured me, "Just one time will we do this! It takes a lot of time to remove and redo." Well, 'it takes MY TIME, is an inconveniencenience to/for me--and, what's with the "Only this once!?" If you do it wrong ten times, it's NOT on me--it on the shop and the individual who applied them in the first place. ~~~~~ While getting the nails redone I learned the shop uses the "cheap tips," not the ones that contour to the nail itself-- Nope! While visiting in Oregon I had the chance to try Mac Nails which was recommended by a family member. I started off with a pedicure with Mia and while I enjoyed a Mimosa and my massage chair she did a very nice nice job on my feet including an invigorating lower leg and foot massage. My feet were a little achy from working, so I asked her to go firm on the foot massage, and she dug in so hard, she bruised my foot and caused swelling. Meh..I have gone to get my nails done here twice now and my first experience was horrible. I asked for a coffin shape my first time and I got literal square nails no joke!! Charged me 65$ for them and I didn't even like them. My second time the lady who did my nails got the shape right but she cut me multiple times and was really rough. Awful experience, I picked this place because they used to give great pedicures. My friend and I picked the generic pedicure and the owner and front desk girl continued to push for us to get a more expensive one. When we continued to say no thank you they were rude. Then the owner decided that the front desk girl was going to do my pedicure because I didn't pick a more expensive one and the girl seemed surprised almost as if she hadn't ever done one. I asked her how long she's worked at the salon and she said one month. The entire pedicure was awful and she acted as if she had no idea what she was doing the whole time. The place was frenetic and stressy; which was a bummer. But then on top of that, it was the worst manicure I've ever had. (I've had a lot! And I don't go to fancy places so I'm comparing like to like.) Bummer becuase I (and my mother) were attending my niece's wedding the next day. The polish (gel or shellac) was uneven, ran into my cuticles and there was no care. (This is all about the manicurist (owner maybe?). The pedicure was very good.) said I wanted to look at the pricing menu because I had a gift certificate and I didn't know if I could get gel or just regular polish. She insisted I sit down and get my feet in the water even though I said I wanted to wait with my friend while she picked her color. She had me walk over to the chair and I kept asking the price and If I could get gel with the $50 gift certificate. She said get in the water get in the water so I did and then she said it wasn't enough for gel unless I wanted to pay more. So I said that's why I wanted to wait because now how am I supposed to pick a color? I had an excellent experience here today. Rose, the owner, was very attentive and took great care of me. I had a pedicure and my regular French gel manicure, and both were expertly done. After having a "bad" gel manicure last month in Salt Lake City, where I ended up bleeding and having paint all over my fingers, this was a nice change of pace. The space has been newly renovated to be double its original size. They offered me a free mimosa, which I would have taken, but I was driving. I was looking for a good nail salon in my new city and I'm definitely glad that I found this one. Definitely make an appointment if you can because nearly every seat was full. They had about 20 spa pedicure chairs and about 15 nail stations, and it was a completely full house. Nice to see! read more

Long story short: They are terrible and they rush. If they mess up they won't automatically fix it (shape, color, matching lengths, ext) Your best bet is square nails if you go here but I'd recommend Garden nails or thumbs up Long story: my appointment was at 12:30pm I didn't get started until 1:15pm. Once they started it was okay but then they used the file and they have no idea what they are doing. I asked for a dark color and they used red (I thought it was suppose to be a dark red) when I said something about needing it darker they painted brown over it. At this point it is 2:45... I'm pissed. I leave then realize how terrible my nails actually are so I go back and say the red around the brown is ugly sooo she breaks out the file and starts filing some more and ask how it looks. I ended up with black, bubbly, uneven nails... I posted on my snap chat and I had about 11 girls express how terrible they are! On the plus they occasionally give amazing pedicures. read more

I went in because I was desperate for a fill I usually go to Jessica but she is always booked . So I went to get a fill it only took Rose 15 minutes and she rushed me in and out !!! When I got home one of my nails lifted wtf I payed 77 dollars I am so mad I don't mind spending money on my nails but to get poor quality work makes me soooo mad !!!! 10 stars!! This is the ONLY place to go in Mac if you want gorgeous nails every time. I went to every other nail salon in the area before I found this one and I will never go anywhere else. My nails never chip or lift, they last 3-4 weeks with no issues. I am a busy professional working mom and my nails have to be on point without any worry or repairs (don't have time to go in for retouches!) I went in for a shellac pedicure. They charged me an extra $5 to remove my previous shellac and an extra $10 to apply new shellac on top of the $40 I'm paying for the pedicure. So total $55 dollars. Without any warning of the extra charges. I have never ever been charged an extra $15 to remove & add shellac. The water they brought to soak my nails in was cold. I will never go back. I came here a couple of days ago with my daughter for a fill and a fullset of nails. This is the worst experience I have ever had at a salon. The last time I came here, the young girl did my nails perfectly. This time I had Rose, the owner. I believe she owns Christy Nails, too. She rushed through my fill within 10 minutes and talked on the phone constantly while doing my nails. The shape was terrible, the polish finish was trash. She rude, mean, and yelled at me. Worst pedicure I have EVER paid for. Chose cats eye design. Not done. Just one color. Not applied properly so it wouldn't dry. They new something wS wrong but wouldn't admit it. Took alcohol on a cotton ball and dabbed over my nails which made them dull and left strings of cotton on my nails and said "All done!" Complained to the owner who rather than trying to make things right, became very loud and rude. We had been there over two hours and she wanted us to sit back down so she could "fix" it.
